China Palace in East Riding of Yorkshire

Drove here from my town about 15 minutes away. I’m coeliac, so when arrived the lady spoke with me about some of the foods I can have and wrote it all down on the menu for me. She’s explained they use GF soy sauce too. This is the first time I’ve used this Chinese so I was very nervous to try. She doubles warped all the food to keep warm, as she knew I drove which I thought was very kind! Service from the lady was 10/10.The food was delicious, so much taste and flavour, vegetables were fresh and crunchy, sweet and sour was delicious, chips were fresh. Honestly I couldn’t recommend enough! Will definitely be visiting more often :)

Got our big take-away order bang on - courteous service, very tasty and good value.

Very poor Chinese, firstly walked into a very dark restaurant to order food, the lady behind the till said to me hang on im just sending a text, firstly I thought that was really rude and her arrogance towards a paying customer. Then we order £30 with of food and didn't receive any prawn crackers, which a lot of Chinese restaurants give you free prawn crackers if you spend £20 or so. Then I seen the state of the kitchen from the waiting area, full of dead flies hanging from the ceiling and pots and pans just laying around not washed. Eating the meal was not nice at all, DO NOT order chow mein, its basically instant noodles you put in hot water for 2 minutes. All I can say is please be careful when ordering food from here, how they have got permission to be open from EHO is unbelievable, food poisoning awaiting is all I can say! Poor quality food and very very poor customer service and you wonder why they are short staffed and don't dine in anymore!!

Had a takeaway from here last night, despite the poor reviews, it was excellent!! Yes, the bbq ribs are a little dry, could do with some sauce, but the curry, chicken with mushrooms and the chips were excellent. We would definitely call again!! Chris.

Horrific inedible food £50 worth straight in the bin from all three people. Save yourself the effort and the most probable food poisoning.

Ribs cremated, not sure how many times they'd been cooked. Main courses bland and tasteless, 2 mouthfuls and we both threw it in bin. Ready in 15min, obviously not freshly cooked. Stay away

Fantastic food. However they insist on adding a surcharge if you spend less than £10 and want to pay using a card. This has been illegal since 2018. I had to go to a cash point to get money before they would serve me as I refused to pay the surcharge.

Awful food & rude staff! Food was awful bland & very greasy! Staff looked miserable & the man that served us was very rude 😒 husband & his friend ordered a pint each, it was cloudy looked like it had been scooped out of a dirty toilet having worked in a pub I knew it was gone off. The man blamed it on the glass & poured it into another one. Food came out prawn toast was just fried bread with some sort of prawn stuff thrown on top! Mains came out sweet & sour was OKish but the beef chow mein was dreadful so bland & noodles tasted like super noodles! Told the man it wasn't very nice he said "oh it wasn't nice" I said no & he said we'll you've eaten some now & continued to take all the plates away (still full of food as we couldn't stomach it) my friend put a chip in his mouth & the man came back for more plates & said "oh is the food still not nice" & laughed at us! We asked for a discount & he laughed & refused, we explained that we had seen the 1 hygiene rating for food management and he grabbed the bank card off our friend & put it in the machine not giving us any other option but to pay £104 for gone off beer & horrible food! AVOID THIS PLACE! don't waste your money!

Wow where to start, TERRIBLE. We were served OFF lager and then when brought new drinks again they were off. The food, horrific and disgusting. I didnt know that such bland soulless food could taste so disgusting. I even made a comment that the best tasting thing on the table was the water. The man that served us came over to ask how the food was, we were 1 bite in and being polite and not realising how bad the food was we said okay thank you, what he actually was doing was looking at the second pints of off lager to see if there was sediments floating in them again. When he hesitantly came to ask if we were finished when the table was full of food untouched we said that the food was not nice at all... his response was "well you should have said" we were telling him at this point it was horrible and he was sarcastic and unapologetic. Now reading all the reviews we have realised this is the common theme. Terrible food and terrible service to go with it . Over priced as well. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

We ordered several mains including fried squid with salt and pepper, BBQ roast pork Cantonese style and chicken with seasonal vegetables all of which were fantastic. We had it as a takeaway. Very nice

There was that much salt in the food I was nearly sick. When I sent the food back I got a load of abuse from the chef!!! Disgusting way to treat customers. Will never go there again!!

What a disappointment. We took our grandson for a treat and it Certainly wasn’t a treat. The starters were ok but the satay sauce and sweet chilli sauce were awful and the lettuce under the starters was brown and old. The main courses were poor. The king prawn noodle dish consisted of a lot of fried noodles, a bit of cabbage and 4 king prawns that were really chewy, not sure how you get king prawns to be as hard. The chicken and pineapple was so sweet it was more like a desert. The seafood and seasonal veg was ok but no more. They had no scallops so it was made up of king prawns that were chewy but not as hard as the ones with the noodles. There was no atmosphere and the place was grubby. We will not be going again and would not recommend it.

Lovely food but very small portions

Worst Chinese I have ever had. Bbq ribs where really dry and tough. Mixed noodles the sauce were nice and the meat was nice but the noodles were crunchy. Not good. I ended up walking to the Chinese after calling a few times and no answer. Wouldn't recommend

Bit spicy sauce with a funny colour bit pink came out other end same colour as well. Rice was very dark.

Ordered 2 meals both cold .chips rock hard and tasted like they had been warmed up and left . pork fu young with no pork in it like cold scrambled egg .spring roll with some kind of cold mush inside that was rock hard worst Chinese we have ever had....

Worst meal Ive had in a Chinese restaurant. There were 4 of us and we ordered a set menu for 2 for each couple. The food was bland, totally overcooked and tasted overwhelmingly of salt. The chicken satay was deep red in colour and hadn't in our opinion, come within a mile of a peanut. It was unlike any satay dish any of us had come across before. The special chowmein was glutinous and the noodles tasted of old, stale cooking oil. All in all a terrible experience. Needless to say none if us will go again nor will we recommend it to our friends. If it was possible to give no stars we would

Staff friendly can't fault them. However the food let's them down, prawn toast I can only describe as fried bread with a puree slapped on top wasn't even freshly made, mixed meat chow mein what meat was on it was nice plenty of cabbage (too much). The noodles were crispy and hard unless they were covered in sauce..... daughter had salt n pepper chips she loved them 👍👍

It was OK, nothing special. There's nothing really to complain about but, it was food cooked without any soul, and seemingly replaced with lots, and lots of onions! Overpriced too compared to others in the area.

The worst Chinese I have ever been to. If you like processed chicken, ham and beef then this is for you. We had a few starters, all of which had definitely come straight from a freezer. Bland and tasteless not to mention tough to eat and covered in fat. Special fried rice was full of luncheon meat and processed meat. Satay chicken was processed chicken. The only good thing about this place was the wine which they didn’t make thank god, and the waitresses who were attentive if not embarrassed by what they were serving. Spent most of the night feeling ill after trying this food. Avoid at all costs!

First visit here and very enjoyable, only let down by very greasy prawn toast. Everything else was delicious and service was good. Superb pancake rolls. Definitely will return!

Took a long time to get served. Staff weren't wearing face masks and were serving other people as well as us. Tables weren't 2 meters apart. We we seated close to other people. The noodles with the chowmein was too salty to eat.

The food was ok (takeaway) so I’ll give 2stars. What I find disappointing is the fact I was asked to pay an extra £1 to use contactless. I queried this and was told I could pay cash which I did. However I have never been asked to pay extra before on my card so made a few enquiries and was told this is illegal. So what is going on there? It puts me off using a takeaway that uses dodges tactics at this time of Covid advice being to use cards if possible.

Special Fried Rice was excellent. Full of shrimps, prawns, pork and chicken. Very tasty! Had a portion of curry sauce to mix in - HOT HOT HOT 🔥!

Tried this restaurant whilst away with my partner for the weekend. The food was delicious and plenty to choose from we had set meal c with drunken prawns that was lovely. We will be back 👍🏻

I was staying in the nearby Dacre lakeside park, we ordered for a takeaway, we were told it would be ready in 10 mins when I drove round the food was ready straight away. The food was delicious and hot, the chips were lovely and crispy. The chicken fried rice had nice big pieces of chicken in, really enjoyed it and really pleased of the customer service

Chose this place for my birthday meal. We had come here a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Booked a table well in advance and arrived about 5 minutes early. Was told to take a seat in the bar area and someone would bring a menu and drink order. We waited a long time and noticed people were coming in ,going up to the bar and being served drinks. Not a good start. Eventually ordered and was shown to our table . We got mixed starters . Some of them were a bit soggy instead of crispy and the prawn toast was like something I have never seen before. Tasted and looked like it had cheese on. The spare ribs were burned and so dry ,we could not eat them. Did tell the young waitress but she said nothing. Never mind. Was looking forward to the duck and pancakes . Another surprise. Although the duck was piping hot,it was so dry and the sauce that came with it , nobody liked , very odd taste. Again I mentioned it to the young lady. We waited a long time between the 3 courses .Must say the mains were very nice as was the nice cold wine. I mentioned all this to one of the Chinese waiters who said the chef, his father was off that night. This has put me off going back. We eat out a lot and this was a big disappointment. Out of all the restaurant,I chose here . I have photos.

This is one of my favourite places to eat. Every time we are in the area we always go there. The service is great and the food is even better.

Five of us shared a meal for four, this was ample (doggy bags were used!). The service was good and the food was delicious. The only down side - the restaurant was quite cold but it was November when we went. We will go again though.

Fantastic friendly polite service and amazing food every time. It took us a while to try this place because it doesn’t do itself justice from the outside but it is excellent

Brilliant place in every aspect. Service is very good with staff being not only very curtious but very knowledgeable on the extensive menu. The food is very very good, I cannot wait to go back there.

First class in every way. Great service from setting foot in the restaurant when greated and our coats were taken and put in the cloakroom. All the staff were very curtious and knowlegable of their products onthe menu. The menu was very good and extensive. The food was very very good. I cannot praise this restaurant enough and cannot wait to return there.

Me and my wife were stopping in the dacre lodges and decided to go for a takeaway, The local chippy was closed so we went went to this place, big mistake, I asked if they did a king prawn Singapore chow mein, the girl asked the chef and they said yes, now in my book a Singapore is supposed to be hot, well I've had hotter ice cubes then this, tipping the contents onto my plate, all the noodles (if that's what you call them) we're dumped at the bottem of the container , a few over cooked king prawns,a few onions, none of this was mixed together, and no Singapore sauce, a very bland taste, and horrible to look at, looked something like my dog had just threw up, I only wish I had taken a photo of it ,they even had the cheek to charge me a extra pound for the chow mein sauce, big mistake coming here, will I ever visit again .......not a chance

Lovely meal for my husband’s birthday - we chose the mid week early meal offer which was prawn crackers, starter each (chicken & sweetcorn soup and crispy spring rolls), main dish with egg fried rice (house special curry and chicken chow mein), tea and coffee and mints. It was all delicious, very tasty and plenty of it.The curry was spicy but we had been warned. The noodles were thin and the sauce delicious.Staff were attentive but not intrusive.Great meal

Well the only Chinese for miles small shop + restaurant, but my wife says it’s the best food 🥘 she’s ever tasted especially from this place......

We love going to the China palace, you can always be sure of a friendly welcome from Danny and his Family and all the staff members. The food is always of a high standard and there is never a problem if you ask to change or alter the dishes if they are not to your liking. The chefs there always produce delicious and tasty food that is freshly cooked. The restaurant has very welcoming atmosphere and the service is always excellent. The prices are very competitive with other restaurants of a similar Ilk. definitely recommend a visit.

Had a takeaway a couple of weeks ago while we were staying nearby. Have visited this chinese before and I have to say the food and service are still as good. Will be back again if we are in the area.

Ordered a takeaway the crispy duck was so tasty and fresh and the ok sauce is to die for.

We ate here a while ago and forgot to rate it. Sorry. Anyway the restaurant is a bit dated in decor inside but very clean and staff are very attentive. We ordered a banquet, it was enormous! All the food was cooked hot and came very well presented. There was not one thing we could criticise. We will def back as a treat soon.

Was a very pleasant meal. I prefer my spare ribs to have sauce, but there was a good number of them, with plenty of meat on them. My mixed meat and noodles was again a decent sized portion and very tasty. It has a lovely atmosphere, and is tastefully decorated without being tacky.

Absolutely love this place. Could eat their mixed starters for the main course too! Reasonable prices and food really good. Prompt service and friendly staff. Only one niggle - take the OK sauce off the crispy beef and put chilli sauce on. The OK sauce is too salty!

Whilst the food was good, there are some terribly rude staff, one girl in particular when asked to call a taxi responded that it was not her job. When this was brought up with the owner he just laughed... Unprofessional and rude

This is a real gem, food is out of this world the staff, friendly and courteous, couldn't ask for anything more, while we were there an old couple came in, must've been well into there 90s they were treated like royalty, it was really lovely to see there are still well mannered young people about, excellent

We called in here quite late on Sunday evening and are so pleased we chose the restaurant on a bit of whim! The staff were friendly and attentive from the start and made us feel welcome straight away. The food was great, definately better than your average Chinese!

Visited the takeaway last evening and had a good takeaway meal,unfortunately my friends weren’t so lucky their meal portions were very small and said the prices had gone up so they won’t be going back their again.

Ordered from the specials board and paid £18 for a portion of fried rice with a few pieces of duck and approx 8 pieces of beef. A complete rip off. On complaining, I was told hat they were a chef down. Poor choice of drinks and only ice cream available for dessert. Having recommended this restaurant to eight friends, who were overcharged by £30 on their drinks bill, the attitude of the manager, has lost the custom of ten people. Customer beware!

I believe there is also a restaurant but I can’t comment on that because we only had takeaway.

Had a lovely meal with family and friend's, we had the set menu, plenty of food very tasty, good value for money, will definitely be visiting again.

Service very slow, after having our starters and 40 minutes later staff decided to tell us 2 dishes unavailable and when we asked why they did not tell us earlier we were told they are short staffed and the only cook is 70 years old. 3 of us got our mains but it took 25 minutes for the 4th main. So disappointed in attitude of staff, we usually love the place but don't think we will go back. 😞

Had high expectations as there’s some really good reviews and lovely photos of dishes. Ordered a take out to collect , had sweet and sour chicken, satay chicken on skewers, beef curry with special fried rice and spring rolls. The order was ready upon arrival which was good, spring rolls very nice. The rest very over salted with little flavour other than heat and salt. I mean mega salt overload. Usually expect dishes to be quite salty from a Chinese but this was far too much for us. The chicken tasted not quite right either. The food looked nice but that was about it.

We ordered a takeaway meal for my son’s birthday. The order was placed in the early evening and we were told the wait would be 45mins. We have them the advised time to prepare the food and still had to wait 15mins.

Having decided to give the China Palace a try we booked a flight able and upon arrival was met with a mediocre greeting by a young waitress, we duly ordered our drinks and were surprised and disappointed on the glasses that were used to serve the drinks. Whether we are just used to receiving our drinks in glasses that befit and suits the drink I’m not sure but with the growth within the gin & tonic market and most places serving gin now in a balloon style glass we received our drinks in half tumbler type glasses with no glasses ice or lemon might seem picky to some but the glass certainly enhances the enjoyment of the drink. We duly pointed this out on our next drinks order but this fell on deaf ears I’m afraid with our drinks being served in half round water glasses. The quality of the food was ok but not overwhelming or memorable needless to say we won’t be rushing back soon.

We just love this place. When ever we are in the area we always go here for a meal. It's just a shame we live in Lincoln and can't go more. The food is amazing, especially the starters and chilly beef. The set meal is amazing value. You can't go wrong to go here for a meal

Well I must say this is the best Chinese meal I have had in a long time. Set menus at reasonable prices. Starters were to die for. Especially the prawn toast and spring rolls. We also got Prawns with the starter which was fantastic. 5 main meals included for 4 people . All delicious. Nice bottle of Wine and great staff. The restaurant itself looks amazing . Can’t wait to go back.

Visited the China Palace mid week for a quick early supper after reading good reviews. Very friendly, attentive staff. Tasty, piping hot food. Fabulous vegetarian menu. Good house wine. Welcoming atmosphere. Nothing else to say, will definitely be returning very soon!

Went here for my daughters birthday, as usual food was absolutely lovely. Best chicken satay skewers i have tasted. Staff friendly and helpful, lovely atmosphere. Will definitely visit again

Best Chinese around the service is great you have to book in advance or your waiting a while but it’s worth the wait because the food is out of this world, atmosphere is a bit dull but to me the atmosphere doesn’t matter it’s the food. Honestly if you like Chinese food I fully recommend this restaurant.

Undercooked food, scallops were raw!!! Meal sent back... then served the wrong food, no appology

My husband and I visited the China palace for dinner. I ordered scallops in ginger and spring onion, food arrived and the scallops where not cooked. I sent them back and re-ordered beef in ginger and spring onion, meal arrived and was beef green pepper. Not an appology in sight, would not reccomend
