Really lovely food we eat here as a group alot. the restaurant is lovely with good food and a good atmosphere.

This is the second time me and my wife have been here. The food is amazing, I'd say best Chinese takeaway in york :)

Ordered 2 meals. Picked them up after 15mins. 5mins later, plated up...meals were not piping hot...chips tasted as if they'd just been warmed up and were not hot. £20 badly spent!!

Old fashioned traditional Chinese restaurant, nothing fancy just the sort of place we like. Service is excellent. For starters I had prawn toast which was truly excellent and didn't taste or present as the "bought in" stuff you normally get in Chinese restaurants. Wife had the 1/4 duck which was OK. For mains I had the pork Foo Yung which had a generous portion of pork in it, but it lacked a little in overall taste. I thought it would of benefited from something like spring onion it it. Wife had a chicken dish which was not so good. sauce tasted suspiciously like it had been bought in and the actual chicken had a very strange almost chemical taste to it which we could not quite put our finger/s on. Our advice. Avoid the chicken, otherwise pretty good .

Only go here if u want to waste £50 we ordered some sweet and sour ribs but they were rock hard and lacked taste the crispy beef tasted like dog food and the only thing that tasted decent was the seaweed PS not even my dog could eat this

We decided to order a takeaway from Jacks Restaurant as the Stamford Bridge Chinese has gone down hill and we were so pleased we did. The service was great from ordering and delivery. The food was so fresh and tasty. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

We've only eaten in once and it was lovely - but the take out/delivery service is excellent and they have the friendliest driver 😊 their food is always amazing ❤️

Return after 12 months just as good, all you can eat is not every ones cup of tea but this one really good, food nice fresh served quick and not a bad price £22 for all you can eat. Nice airy place never too busy

Worst Chinese takeaway ever. Last weekend we spent £60 on a family meal. All the food was dreadful except for the pork noodles. There’s no point in detailing what was wrong there was so much . We just couldn’t eat it. As for putting batter on tofu , whoever is in the kitchen has no idea how to cook it, a simple dish used so much in Hong Kong and china. Have to mention the RICE hit was tasteless and rock hard. How can a Chinese restaurant not know how to cook rice????? Absolutely no idea about Chinese food or how to cook it in this establishment. To sum up our experience in one word AWFUL

Got a home delivery with friends, really hot and tasty and very friendly. Arrived on time and good value for money

My family and I had a take away almost two weeks ago. Hard to know what you're ordering as there are no descriptions on the online menu. When ordering they stated they only needed 15mins for collection which is slightly alarming . The noodles were fine ( however we asked for veg and they arrived plain, the chicken balls were really tough (meat), not very nice really. The tofu in black bean sauce had a nice taste but the tofu had an odd batter. Overall it was quite plain, very oily and not worth the rating it has. This wast terrible, just not good unfortunately.

Delicious buffet. Lots of choice and a good quality. You could eat as much as you wanted for a set price but you can order off the menu

Very good food friendly staff would recommend

From getting there to leaving it was amazingly busy. We had tried ringing Mr at Haton but nobody answered so we decided to give Jack's ago. So glad Mr Chus didn't pick up. Lovely staff and great food. Had the set menu A and had to get some of our main course boxed up due to the excellent soup and starter plater filling us up . All in all a good meal.

Jack’s restaurant and takeaway is awesome the food is super tasty always hot fresh and delicious, Stuart and his lovely young wife are so friendly and welcoming and always make you feel happy and comfortable would highly recommend this place to everyone

What a lush little Chinese restaurant!! Food was gorgeous and the owner was absolutely fantastic! Especially having with haveing excellent banter and a right laugh with the boys and us!! Defo recommend!

We visited for the all you can eat menu this afternoon and it was absolutely terrible. Inedible to say the least. We ordered the soup that was just like lukewarm flavoured water , a mixed starter that tasted like it had been reheated a number of times and 3 main course dishes which took less than 2 minutes to arrive from ordering which were spat out immediately after the first mouthful. Guy in charge seemed like he was used to taking on negative feedback. We were the only ones in on a Sunday teatime which should have rang alarm bells. Despite all the pre existing negative reviews we decided to Try for ourselves but ended up leaving after only paying for our drinks. Never again! Avoid!

Went to the restaurant with family and decided to go for the all you can eat option. The menu had a good selection of food, although not the full menu from takeaway. Food was served quickly and a great standard. Overall a very good restaurant, with great service.

Family getaway from Liverpool staying at Allerthope golf & spa resort, booked a table at jacks restaurant the hospitality was amazing, lovely staff and very attentive, the food was even better! Thankyou for the experience

Tonight we visited for the 2 nd time , as our last visit was fab , especially the staff a man and a lady maybe the owners I’m not sure but they were so friendly and made our visit so lovely , tonight however the absolute opposite, so disappointed as a meal out for a family with the current cost of living situation is a special thing and a treat which can’t be done often . I won’t list all the many things that made tonight an unpleasant experience but the biggest let down was the attitude and lack of hospitality of the 2 members of staff this evening. Food was very salty and the sauces where really sludgy and thick and strong in taste , gutted last visit was like being in a different place .

Really disappointed. Over priced, watery and lacked flavour. We live in the south east where it can be expensive but we get really good value for money and it is half the price. A real shame as eating is a big part of our holiday experience.

Restaurant was empty, we were daft enough to stay but it was not worth it! Not a good Chinese meal.

Takeaway delivered. 1/4 duck that was so over cooked we couldn’t chew it. The noodles were £5.20 and were boiled tasteless noodles with no onion or bean sprouts! Curry sauce had strange powder taste. I called to complain. I didn’t get a refund or an apology. Just an excuse that he has some really stange customers that want the meat over cooked and extra plain noodles. Very odd! Never had a Chinese so bad.

Asked for spare ribs in ok sauce tasted like sweet and sour and I've never had ribs battered before, so they just looked like a sweaty hot mess. The prawn crackers inside the bag so they sweated instead of tied to outside the bag. A little over priced for quality they sent out, doubt I'd use again.

Had a Take out . Chicken fried Rice Tasteless . . It didn’t even look like fried . . Crispy beef had a funny taste like the oil was old . Very disappointed. 🙁

Had a really lovely meal with friends last night, we had the all you can eat buffet, the food was lovely and hot and very tasty, great having hot plates and dishes as well. Place was busy, the staff really friendly. We will definitely return very soon. Would recommend.

Really good meal last night. I used to use this restaurant 20 or so years ago, last night we went back and it was pleasant. They had a few new staff, who were very new. But food came quickly, the owners were fantastic, really friendly and helpful. I'm not going to pretend it was the best Chinese food I've ever had, but it was decent, price was decent, surroundings are decent, owners lovely. Overall you couldn't have asked for more from a small town restaurant.

Food was absolutely delicious and of the finest quality and the service and staff were amazing and so helpful; they were funny and kind all the time.

Eat in or take away fabulous food in house or at home. The staff are happy and respectful and make you so welcome. I recommend the eat in buffet to order.... freshly cooked great food.... we will be back soon or on the phone for...

We were cycling The Way of the Roses and this was the best place to refuel. We had the all you can eat buffet and all the dishes were cooked to order. The ingredients were fresh and the meals very delicious.

5 stars isn't enough for this place! Needs more like 50, the food is honestly something else and the guy even gave me a call to let me know that it was ready! And he's a right character, made my night with his banter so I'm happy, I mean you just don't get customer service like this anywhere else! See you next weekend!!! And if you're a potential customer reading this, get the chicken green pepper and black bean sauce! Thank me later ;-)

The food wasn’t nice at all, the plain chow mien and chicken and black bean tasted burnt so we binned that.The only good thing was the chips and curry sauce

Never tried Jack's before and having read the reviews decided to take a gamble and try it for ourselves. Our order was ready on time and the staff were friendly. Enormous portions so we couldn't eat it all but the food was absolutely delicious, would definitely recommend, we will be back.

Staying at the paradise pods which is 8 mile away so was pleasantly surprised they delivered for just £4.we had the meal deal A for 2 people.so much lovely food it actually served us for 2 days.lovely fresh veg and plenty of meat.would highly recommend 😁

While on a holiday park nearby we decided to have a meal from franks.they delivered to the lodge.there were 4 of us and had different meals.I hade house special curry and I asked for extra hot which they did and it was excellent. Everyone else enjoyed there meal as well.so much so we had another one the following night.we would recommend this takeaway to anyone.

We are in Pocklington on holiday, just collected and eaten a take away from Jack's. It was ready and waiting when we went to collect, with very friendly helpful staff. It was still hot by the time we drove back and served up, and best of all it was all really tasty! Thank you Jack's Restaurant

Although we haven't eaten in because of the covid 19 situation , we have now ordered take out twice since moving up to the area. Honestly , this place is fab. Big sizes, big taste and small prices. Friendly staff as well. The set menu for two is brilliant as well as the ribs and sweet and sour chicken. Give it a go , it's worth that much.

Have had three deliveries and they were on time and pleasant staff. I had the special curry and it was the best Chinese curry I’ve ever had. Keep it up

Terrible experience. We were the only people in the place. Should have realized. Food was basically inedible. Some of it served cold. The poor waiter looked embarrassed.

It was ok but the food isnt great. The staff are friendly and the place seemed clean. Feels unfair to give it 3 stars but the food was really bland and greasy even for a takeaway, ive had much better chinese food.
