staying down the road we had heard it was nice pub we parked outside there was a young lady in the window sticking fingers up at us which was confusing we went to go in same young lady was shouting loudly banging on tables this seemed not to be disability but very scary behaviour we went elsewhere

We stayed at the caravan park very close by and drove past this pub everyday so decided we would sample the food. WOW the pizzas are unreal, massive fresh and delicious, very well done guys please keep it up as we plan to revisit later in the year !!!

Visited the Black Bull on Friday evening for tea. We had a lovely meal and drinks, I had the lasagne and he who must not be obeyed had a meat feast pizza. The large piece of chunky beef lasagne came with a slice of garlic bread & side salad. Most delicious! The meat feast pizza went down a treat too. 😋 Even our pooches were catered for with water & doggy treats provided by a nice young lad who works there. Dogs are welcome in the pub, we sat in a gorgeous beautifully decorated annexe, kind of inside/outside area with heaters if it gets chilly. There's also a lovely outside seating area with plenty of tables and cute little pods & a children's play area. We sat out here on Saturday afternoon for drinks, very enjoyable! We stayed down the road at Barmston Beach caravan park and it's about a 10/15 minute flat walk. Would recommend 👌

Would not recommend and will not be attempting to eat there again. Arrived at 7:30pm to be told there is an hours wait for food which was fine but the staff said you haven’t even seen the menu yet so may not wish to wait, as if you put us off. Then said they would clean a table for us, we were still stood at the bar 15 minutes later - not even a drink offered to us with 2 small children. They did not welcome us and did not want us to proceee and wait 60 minutes for food. Having a look at the menu, very very overpriced. We left and I’m glad we did !

The food was so good that we came back the next morning to try the breakfast and it was the best full-English breakfast that I have ever had. Staff are very friendly and inside and the indoors and outside area is very cozy.

Weekend in a log cabin with family and visit to Restaurant / Pub. Under new management and seen a massive improvement since last year, We have visited twice since January this year (2024) Lovely food, quick service, live entertainment on the Saturday, friendly staff. Some thing for all ages - climbing frame in the beer garden, pool table and darts board in the games room.

We use the Black Bull quite a lot as we have a caravan nearby. Paula has really turned the pub around since she took over. The place is spotless and all the staff are lovely and very welcoming. Fabulous entertainment on a Saturday night. 100% recommend a visit.

Amazing pub with friendly staff and customers. Been a few times for food and always been superb quality and superb atmosphere with amazing entertainment on the Saturdays that we have been there! Would really recommend.

Really nice breakfast and the staff was amazing would definitely recommend. The kids love the park on the back and there was plenty of seating.

Friendly staff and great home cooked food and can definitely recommend the steak pie, lasagne and butterfly chicken burger which were all delicious and great value. Dog friendly with lots of places to sit in a relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Just called in for a “spur of the moment lunch” from the minute we walked in to leaving we were made to feel really welcome,the service the food the venue were all perfect,lovely manageress and the lady behind the bar was so friendly,we will definitely be visiting again

Lovely stay for lil boys birthday, kids loved the hot tub and the food in the restaurant was amazing, kods meals are fantastic value all home cooked and plenty of choice, staff coupdnt help us enough and put balloons in lodge for arrival, cant wait to come back. Xx

We’ve been going to the bull for a few years now, we own a caravan nearby. A couple of weeks ago a new manager took over and what a difference she’s made!! The pub is spotless, the welcome is warm from all the new team...

Me and my family went up for lunch today to try out after been told it was under new management… The food was outstanding, ordered a few different dishes as some were sharing but it’s amazing and my brother in law was made up with his breakfast for lunch. The pizza is fresh based also which not many places do. The pricing was more than reasonable and the team are very friendly and hands on making sure we were all good. The place is tidy and clean and the log burner makes it extra comforting with the time of year. Definitely be back again :)

Had a weekend break at Parkdean Barmston Beach with our granddaughter. Had all our evening meals at The Black Bull. The food was lovely and the staff so friendly. Will definitely go back.

Popped in while staying at parkdean. Lovely food lovely staff. Lovely prices.Had the steak and ale pie with a couple of pints of Stella. It was so nice we went back the following day. This time had the gammon egg and chips and again with a couple of pints of Stella. Amazing. So nice I could have eaten it again.Much more affordable than eating or drinking on the parkdean site. And staff were very friendly. I highly recommend anyone paying a visit.Thank you.

We visited every day of our recent holiday. Very family and dog friendly. Great outdoor space. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The menu is good and our 6 year old wanted to eat there every night! Would recommend a visit for food and a drink.

We came here on the way back from a day out. Everything was spotless in the pub, very clean and hand sanitisers on the walls next to every door you walked through. The owners were so lovely and couldn't do enough for us. We ordered some food which obviously the menu is now limited due to covid. We got a burger meal, a gammon baguette and 2 kids meals. It is honestly one of the best meals I've had. The kids were given free buns which was so kind. There's a nice grassed area outside if you wish to sit outside and I noticed there's some hot tub lodges behind the pub, we will definitely be looking into those as it would be a lovely little getaway. Thank you again to the pub owners will be returning!

Been here for food 3 times. On arrival 1st time got told all food was gone 2pm. 2nd time arrived been told ran out of food at 3pm. 3rd time on arrival sorry no food. On Web site says served food but when we have came nowt left. Its a shame as the owners are very polite but hey ho another pub will take my cash

Turned on several occasions for food and drinks with the family while staying at Park dene caravan site, everytime we went they had either no food, not serving food or we are too late at 4.30 in the afternoon. Very disappointing as had to drive somewhere else for tea.

I am very impressed with the standard of hygiene, hand sanitizer at every door. Very helpful staff and clear reminding posters. The best organised place I have been. Very well done.

Went in here on a Friday evening for a couple of drinks, very friendly so went back on the Sunday as was staying nearby for a dog walking weekend.V dog friendly and I was pleasantly surprised at the standard of the Sunday lunch in a giant Yorkshire pudding. I got the feeling the landlord and landlady hasn’t been there long but were trying to get things going.The food was very good and reasonably priced, the only downside was it was a frozen Yorkshire pud. But maybe in time this will change

Popped in for a meal, and although they weren't cooking that evening they opened the kitchen for us. Had a stunning home made steak pie, with proper chips and peas. The hosts were very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend. Also dog friendly and a children's play area out back

We were stopping at nearby Barmston Beach Caravan Park and decided to call here for tea one evening.Even though the kitchen had technically closed the landlady very kindly offered to make us some meals. We had gammon, steak pie and pizza, all of which were excellent.If we are ever back in this area we would most definitely be calling in here.

A real shame it’s gone to ruin this was once a wonderful pub for the caravaners and villagers so sad to hear they’ve all been kicked off we had some great nights there and were made so welcome Went in at the weekend a handful of people addicted to their phones no atmosphere what so ever the landlady isn’t the most friendly and the lager isn’t the best asked for a gin got it in a j20 glass seemed everything was an effort I hope patron capital read some of these reviews and think about getting new owners in such a shame they’ve turned it into a gypsy site

We walked to the black bull pub on a sunny bank holiday Saturday from our holiday cottage with some friends it’s a 5 minute walk.When we arrived in the bar area my husband asked where we could sit for food he was then told they Were not doing food and had finished. Which was a bit of a shock as it was only 6pm and a sunny bank holiday weekend. No other information was offered.So we walked down to the Italian at the end of the road where we received a warm welcome and left with a good range of pizzas which we took back to our cottage due to having a dog with us.The black bull need to provide more information on there website and also on the boards outside the pub and maybe a warmer welcome would be nice.

We arrived 9.30pm to a nearby campsite and couldn't get food so called into the Black Bull, where we got a very warm welcome from the landlords. We were very hungry and, even tho they had already closed the kitchen, they happily made us some food and even offered pudding and coffee for my mum. The food was excellent, well presented and reasonably priced. We went back the following day for more.Thank you for going above and beyond for us!Our dog was also made welcome and the locals were friendly.

We called in for a glass of wine. Good value at £4 for a large glass. Just lacking atmosphere and a friendly welcome. I’m sure the licencees are working hard. It doesn’t seem to be enough to make this pub a repeat destination. Sorry.

Went in for a drink. Everyone we spoke to was complaining about the beer and lager. 2 of our group ended up feeling ill the day afterwards after drinking the draught beer and lager. My boyfriend says the lager had a chemical taste as if the pipes hadn’t been cleaned properly. It’s such a shame because this place could be a gold mine. Especially with our site being down the road. They have a captive audience with the holiday makers at Parkdean and us owners who would go regularly again if the beer was right.

We have been here before and were happy with the meals, so didn't think twice about going back. We got a shock when we walked in and immediately felt our of place, not a welcoming atmosphere at all. We ordered drinks and my glass was dirty so ended up drinking from the bottle. We looked at the menu and had a grand choice of 3, yes just 3 adult meal options. Needless to say we drank up quick and left to try somewhere else. The sign on the front says "Come as strangers, leave as friends" . This wasn't the case when we went and we definitely won't be going back.

Called in as was staying nearby, a bit under whelming, no atmosphere, expensive drinks. Nothing fundamentally wrong just lacking something. There are a couple of campsites within walikng distance an several more 5 minutes away by car, this place should be chock full and lively, it is not. Staff ok, no one told us what to do if we wanted to eat. Ate elsewhere eventually. Loads of parking, good spacious beer garden which would be great in good weather. Dogs welcome.

We visited here for lunch with our dogs during our stay at Barmston beach. The owners said they were new-ish. This place welcomes dogs inside. The whole place was immaculate. Nice little touches of nice towels and flowers in the toilets. The menu was a little limited but what we ordered was fresh and of excellent quality. The couple that owned it were extremely welcoming very friendly and lovely to our dogs. They have a large clean beer garden area. Unfortunately on Saturday 8th June 2019 when we visited it was raining so we didn’t sit outside. We would definitely recommend!!

Stopped off to have a family dinner. Unfortunately the menu was very sparce then to be advised that their delivery had not arrived so there was even less to choose from. We just had a drink and left. Have to say the staff were lovely shame about the lack of choice on the menu before the lack of delivery!

We visited this pub 11/05 and 12/05. What a wonderful hidden gem, the owners were very new (3 weeks!) we had a very warm welcome from both Andy and Michelle and we sampled their homemade pizza which were fab! The locals are equally welcoming and friendly, Colin and his wife were a delight! We’ll certainly be back!

Called here on way home from our stay at skipsea sands . 4 adults 2 children . Chose the Sunday roast and was not disappointed . Would definitely recommend . Reasonably priced too.

Local pub for local people only. Dreary inside and out. Miserable barman. Good priced Guinness was the only positive. Plenty of locals eating but the food looked terrible so we ate elsewhere. Screaming toddler let loose by their mum. Would never go there again, At one point a local came in and knocked the toddler over with the door. He was shocked but the mum did nothing to reassure him it was not his fault. What a dump.

This friendly local pub definitely has an image problem but once inside you can relax and enjoy lovely home cooked pub grub at very reasonable prices. The steak I had was beautiful and served with homemade chips. Perfect place to eat after a long walk on Barmston's beautiful beach.

Visited this evening with my husband and 2 children, staying just up the road. pleasantly surprised the food quality was excellent. We ordered rump steak and steak pie both with home cut chips pie was tasty and steak was tender, kids meals were with very good quality sausages. Husband had treacle sponge and custard very yummy. Very well priced with friendly mother and son running the place.

We recently visited the Black Bull for a family meal. We ate in the dining room which was very pleasant. The food was excellent one might say good pub grub. There were 6 of us including two children, every one said their meal was excellent and the home made pies went down a treat. The portions were large. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I would certainly go back again.

Have eaten at this place many times over the years and as we were passing thought we would give it a try once more. Went into the dining area and the one person covering three bars eventually asked us if we were having food, he told us he would get someone to come and tell us what food they had left. A lady came and told us what was left and we ordered, after fifty minutes I asked the waitress how long we would have to wait and was told, five minutes, after an hour we went to the bar to leave and get our money back when the first meal came out, and after five more minutes the second meal. The food was very good, but the wait unacceptable.

Honestly do not be put out by the outside the steak and kidney pie chips an peas plus a boat of gravy is totally home made and amazing. Go on treat yourself

From the road you may not be tempted to pop in, but take my advise you will get a lovely surprise. The interior is clean, warm and welcoming. Dogs are allowed too. We didnt eat but the food looked lovely, big portions too. Bar prices are reasonable, no compliants from dad, so they must keep a good pint :-) limited opening hours so check first. Large beer garden at the rear. There are 3 different areas a bar, a lounge and games rooms. The staff are warm and welcoming, but they also provide some entertainment. Friday night had some traditional pub entertainment, bingo, pub quiz and play your cards right. Saturday night had a local singer and a meat draw.

Brilliant food. All home cooked big portions and prices must be from the 1970,s. Very good value for money. Excellent service it’s also a dog friendly pub what more could you ask for.

Wow. What a pub. Horrible beer, advertising pizza outside but have none. Food served from 4.30pm on a Saturday but the only veggie option was........ egg and chips!!!! Yes egg and chips.

Never judge a book by its cover, from the outside it doesn’t look much, but the food and service make up for its lack of curb appeal. We visited for evening meal with 4 adults and 7 children all under 9. The food was fantastic, it takes a little longer than a normal pub chain would but well worth the wait. It has a play area outside for the children to burn off some energy and a duck pond across the road. We highly recommend a visit for a meal out, the price is good value for money and we recommend the mix grill followed by sticky toffee pudding, yummy!

Saw this Pub on the way into the Barmston holiday park, though Hmmm must check this place out looks full of character, turns out it was full of characters inside as well lol, we ordered breaded chicken breast wow great tasting chicken and real home made chips as big as battle ships, service was good, nice ambiance... good choice we'll be back.

Mentioned to a friend we were staying at Barmston. Even though he's from Lancashire he mention he has stayed at the same place, mentioned the Black Bull, and strongly recommended the Steak Pie. He also, as other reviewers have said don't be put off by the pubs exterior appearance.

Don't like leaving bad reviews but this meal out was very poor. We expected 'cheap and cheerful' and came for a meal last Thursday based on good reviews. Service was friendly, but we had to wait over an hour for our meals to arrive (steak and chips, sausage and mash, burger, and kids fish and chips - so nothing special and nothing we should have had to wait for more than 30 minutes for). Disappointing when it did arrive - steak wasn't medium as asked for, but well done inside although it looked anaemic on the outside. Pretty much the same for the burger, although it tasted ok, was nothing special and really didn't look appetising at all. Quite disappointing when taking into account the wait we had (it wasn't busy either - only a couple of other tables dining). We won't be visiting again.

Visited here for 'Sunday Lunch' as this is a dog friendly pub. We were a family group of 5 adults, 3 children and of course the dog!. Could not fault it for the price £6.50 adults/£4.50 children. The lunch was lovely with a choice of beef, turkey or some of each and plenty of gravy boats, all fresh vegetables and home made Yorkshire puddings. We also tried various sponge and custard desserts which again could not fault. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. I would advise pre-booking as we did as they only serve a limited number of Sunday Lunches. We will definitely visit again if ever back in the area.

Called in for a Sunday lunch as it looked like the only pub in the village. Near a caravan site, but only three other customers eating when we were there. Choice of roast (beef or turkey), basic (60's) pub presentation. Not much atmosphere, then; it was as if they were just waiting for it to tumble into the sea, but there was little actually to complain about.

After a lovely day spent in the sunshine. Rounded off the day with a couple of pints and a delicious meal. Superb value and friendly staff

Staying at Barmston caravan park we decided to try this pub for food one evening. Easy walk just up the road from caravan park. The food was beautiful. couldn't fault it. Basic pub, no frills. Cheap and delicious food. Friendly people too. Much cheaper than the park too. Home cooked also.

I visited with my mum whilst staying at the Caravan Site up the road. Didn't like the atmosphere of the place, certainly did not feel welcome and couldn't wait to leave. We both ordered the chicken curry and it honestly looked and tasted like it was out of a tin, edible but nothing special. Maybe making homemade curry isn't their thing and maybe I was expecting too much from a pub in tiny place and maybe the other stuff on the menu is really nice. I won't be going back to try however. Disappointed!

we have a caravan up the road from here and visit this place every other weekend not only because the food is cheaper and homecooked but feel at home here I see there are a few poor reviews about this place but I cant complain at all hubby always has the sausages and mash and is like a big kid if they run out as hes looked forward to it all day the lamb shank is to die for I don't know how they can sell the food for the prices they do but im not complaining theres entertainment on a weekend and bouncy castle and playground for the kids and dogs allowed In 2 out of the three rooms the first time we came was winter and the heater wasn't working properly but was told if we came again to ring and they would put the fire on ready hows that for welcoming you to the local !!

Odd looking from outside and not much better inside. Empty when we visited and no atmosphere. Menu uninspiring. We stayed at the nearby caravan park and this was the only walkable pub . Even so we didn't repeat our visit.

Although holiday makers the Black Bull made us feel like were locals.All willing to chat and have a laugh while we had a drink. Plus they have play equipment outside for the children.

We went here July 2915 (it was a Monday) and the pub was totally empty. Which is fair enough, but there was absolutely no atmosphere. It wasn't unfriendly, but it wasn't at all friendly either. We had wine and soda - the ice we asked for was given to us out of a spoon In a bowl - which just seemed bizarre. Did not feel inclined to eat here so didn't bother. Not saying it was awful but also wasn't good and did not fit the previous reviews at all. Don't bother .

We recently stayed at Barmston Beach holiday park and we were lucky enough to find this pub!What a great pub for families, they had a bouncy castle for bank holiday and theres a play area for kids too!The menu is limited but the food was so good and really reasonable! We fed our family of 5 for £23 it was fab! Lovely homemade chips too!Staff were so lovely and friendly you really felt welcome!It is a busy bar and did near sell out food on a couple of nights but this only says how good it is!This pub cheered our holiday up we were well pleased to find it!

Always had good luck with Trip Advisor but not here. This Pub is dated, needs a face lift and I regret the visit. We arrived at 7.30pm for dinner and after taking our drink order we were told that they had sold out of food - the entire four page menu! When I asked where else we could eat the lady behind the bar finally said she could make one portion of scampi and a cheese toastie if we wanted. My daughter had the scampi - not bad to be honest but the whole experience was a poor one.
