Popped in today for 2 x Pie, mash, peas and gravy. We chose the steak and ale pie and I have to say this is the best pie and mash we have had for a while. We also pop in now and then for cakes and pastries. Everything we have tried has excelled our expectations! Fab service and fab food! 👌
We enjoyed as a self indulgent treat afternoon tea at Betty's for the second time. While not the cheapest thing you may experience, you won't forget this one. The food is beautiful to look at and taste. The ambiance is very genteel and quintessentially British accompanied by a grand piano tinkling in the background.
The staff are dressed authentically and seem to enjoy their job, as we did the exception service given with both a smile and expertise. We were served by Eva who was bubbly young lady and a delight to engage with.
In all money well spent and an experience we'll remember for all the right reasons...😋🍰☕👏👌

Patties are a true northern delicacy! 😄 Excellent fresh and we've discovered they can travel south and be frozen....
Gluten free menu is a very welcome feature.
Picked up a takeaway from Papa’s Fish and Chips and it was brilliant! The food was fresh, and ready in no time. Yvonne, Alisha, and Andrea were so friendly and welcoming while we waited. Highly recommend if you're after a quick, delicious takeaway!
Whiteheads has been a real favourite of ours for years. Went in this lunch time. First thing I noticed is the coxes have changed. Smaller.Tow regular haddock which were of vastly different sizes. Poor portion of chips to boot (which we shared), and a corned beef pattie which had no corned beef in at all. Terrible! The fish was flat. Tasteless and dry. Batter was soggy and wet. Bitterly disappointing. We’ve happily driven an hour to go here in the past but will think seriously before going here again after today’s experience. You’ve earned a great reputation over a long time but there’s something going seriously wrong here. It’s nowhere near good enough. Sort it out!

Used to come to the wheatsheaf regularly, after ordering buttermilk chicken tenders served with spring onions and fresh chillies, that where also usually drizzled with a mix of bbq and mayo to then be met with Morrisons quality chicken strips with no chillies no spring onions and bbq and mayo in separate pots, disappointed to say the least, 11 pound for what looked like a plain kids meal but used to be one of the favourite dishes
No stars for rooms as was having a quick drink so no insight.
£5.50 for a pint of Fosters.
I shan't be returning as Pocklington has many other options. Punching above your location weight, prices wise. Even York doesn't do this as standard practice.
Called for Sunday lunch after seeing Facebook pictures. Lovely fresh home cooked food, beef melted in the mouth. Chatty staff who were genuinely interested in making you feel welcome. Regular size plate £10, great value for money. Smaller and larger plates available. We will be back. Thank you.
