Royal Oak in East Riding of Yorkshire

It’s dressed up for Halloween including the staff (no costumes)

New landlord and lady lifted this pub to a great local with good food beer and company unfortunately at the moment food isn't on the menue its a local pub with a great atmosphere

We called in this afternoon after having dad out for the day before we took him back to the care home. The two ladies were very friendly, we will definately be visiting again as we enjoyed our time there before our journey back home, well worth a visit.

The Royal Oak is a nice traditional community pub. There is a good choice of beers, lager and cider. It's a cosy pub with a sheltered beer garden that has great views over the River Humber. Friendly staff, worth calling in for a drink after a long walk along the river. Check the opening times.

Great atmosphere and always a good pint

Cosy atmosphere, reasonable priced beer. Nice warm fire in the winter. And there is good variety of snacks

I wondered where we could go for a stroll, and a drink on a Bank Holiday Monday, that wasn't too far from home. Good prices, and nice views across the Humber. Friendly staff. Recommended.

Really friendly landlord/landlady running a quality traditional pub with views across the river, lovely food and drink at reasonable prices, spotlessly clean and warm, best pub for miles imo, a credit to the brewery!

We found this pub as we explored the area. Very friendly and we had a lovely meal.

I ordered food via food hub, and there was an error on food hub to which i gave a 1 star thinking it was to do with The Royal Oak. Paul phoned and could not apologize enough, so i tried on food hub to remove my star rating and it could not be done, so i have come here to say. I would recommend The Royal Oak, and to thank Paul for being so nice to say sorry he didn't need to, very professional and i will deffo be going to eat here in the summer. Thank you Paul

Noisy. Children running round. Noisy game of pool. Wanted a quiet night and realised this wasn't the place for one.

Just had a smashing night at Royal oak. The atmosphere was very warm and cheerful. Food was tasty. All very friendly and helpful, I don't go out much but I can see myself going out more often now.

Friendly folk, great atmosphere, have a large seating/ smoking area at the back which looks out onto the Humber, delicious food, just need a few more seats in the back room and a few stools in the pool room. Have all sorts going on including live bands.

Just had a LOVELY Sunday lunch here . A choice of turkey, gammon, or beef, and a choice of serving size. I chose small and it was more than enough. 6 kinds of veg, and gravy were put out in bain Marie's ... Five veg AND roast and boiled potatoes so you can choose exactly how much you want have A good sized Yorkshire pudding even with the small plate and LASHINGS of gravy (just help yourself) top marks from me :)

Omg where do I start. When we arrived it seemed OK. I sat down at a table and was surrounded by flies it was filthy. The carpet and back area was also dirty with dog and toys everywhere. I sat outside and that was no better. I would totally avoid the place as its been run into the ground unless the humber takes it first.

Absolutely brilliant service the landlord and staff are so respectful they go they go over the moon to make you feel comfortable, can't ask for anything more from them! Would highly recommend.

I came here a few times for a pint or two. It seemed like a really nice pub. I liked having my pint in the beer garden in the back. I liked having a few pints and watching the boats go by.

Highly recommend. Intended to go Humber tavern because it came up first on a search. They were full so decided to head back to Hull. Passed the Royal Oak and decided to try it. Really nice lady on the kitchen. Nothing was too much trouble. Chap on the bar lovely too. Down to the important bit- the food. We had Sunday Lunch. It was excellent. I am veggie so no meat and DH had chicken and pork. Big plate of good food homely and fresh. Lemon drizzle for pudding was lovely too. Lots of people seemed to come here because the Humber was full but heard others saying this place was better.

Me and my partner called in before getting the ferry. we had a drink and a pizza . it was the best pizza ever. So if your passing by nip in for a pizza you can either eat in or take away you will really enjoy it

Staff let it down. Not welcoming at all unless your a regular. Would be tempted to use here more if there was a warmer welcome.

Can you explain to me Why you are not serving food at The Royal Oak now ? Sunday April 2nd 1845 Myself and my husband went in 30 mins ago to eat and have a drink To be told you stopped serving food at 6pm Strange that as outside it says until 8pm Sorry to say we won't be returning

Visited for the first time . We were made very welcome and were able to have a look round,we went outside to look at the river . It will be lovely to eat out there in the summer. There was a lovely fire in the bar so we sat in there . I had we had a main and a pudding. The food was cooked to order and was very very good. We will certainly be back for more. I would highly recommend this pub. Thank you for a really nice lunch we will see you again soon.

When I say "surprisingly" good food I don't mean to be funny, it's just that the outside of the pub and the inside decor is nothing out of the ordinary so we expected average pub fare. How wrong was we! Superb food as good if not better than many top class restaurants we have visited. We will certainly be visiting again.

We stayed in Paull overnight ready for a family funeral the following day. We found this pub to be very welcoming on a cold, dark night. There were a couple of fires roaring. The pub was quiet. We sat in the back dining area which was comfortable. The food menu was reasonably priced. Although there wasn't loads of choice it all sounded very appetising. We had 3 different mains, including one vegetarian, and felt very satisfied. The portions were large so worked out very good value. I particularly enjoyed the hand-cut chips with my chicken dish. We didn't have to wait too long to be served. Decent range of drinks and again the prices were very competitive. The barman was friendly so overall an excellent experience.

What can I say? The new owners are lovely, will do anything to give you a pleasant time. Not wrapped up in their own egos like many other local pubs seem to be. The food is DELICIOUS, the menu is small but everything is cooked perfectly. Desserts are nice too. The views from the beer garden onto the Humber are also worth a peek . If you're thinking of a drive out to Paull this is the definitely the place to eat.

This may not be the prettiest pub I have ever visited but there are some great displays on the walls (I love reading walls), the staff are warm and friendly, the pub garden has good views over the river and THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT.

Went for the Sunday lunch Beef was well prepared but the veg tasted a bit 'tired'. Good value but but as in the title just ok. Staff friendly enough but the place really needs some tlc. Finding ashtrays full of butt ends on all of the outside tables was a bit off putting. With the views of the river and a revamp of the fabric this could be somewhere special.

Family visit ... Including 2 grandchildren . Plenty of choice for adults and children. Reasonably priced for good quality food . We arrived about 5PM on a Thursday and got a table Ok. Don't know if they take bookings but suppose it would be wise to do so on a weekend day.

We have just returned from a great meal, the staff are very friendly ,we ordered a steak and mixed grill, which was cooked to perfection, even the chips were home made, which came as a plesent surprise, thanks for the great meal and service with a very pleasant atmosphere, will definitely be returning in the future.

Second visit for a meal at the royal oak yesterday. Very friendly welcome and a beautifully kept pub. The food is all freshly cooked to order and is very tasty. If the weather is nice you can eat outside if you wish with a great view of the river Humber and the Humber bridge. If you don't want to eat you can still enjoy the hospitality and I should add I had the best pint of Fosters I have ever had and I've been drinking it for many years.
