The cafe was closed when we were in Hornsea yesterday and the premises on the market. That's a shame as there are not that many traditional tea shops in town.

This was a lovely little café decorated to make you feel you are sitting on the banks of the Seine in Paris. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Quick service. Delightful atmosphere. Great menu choices but disappointed about basic the salad was. There is only one toilet for the number of seats pro rata. Bonus: a complimentary chocolate after paying the bill. Nice touch.

Took my 12 yr old twin granddaughters to the cafe as a treat on our last day of visiting family. What a treat, so pleased we saved the best till last! This cafe is such a joy from the moment you open the door. Staff are so pleasant, friendly, and very welcoming. The atmosphere is calming. Menu is spot on, plenty of choice but not overwhelming. Like the fact it offers GF choices, which I sadly still find not enough food places do. Portions are plentiful, but the proof this little gem supersedes all others is in the pudding (so to speak), wow wow wow, amazing, so so hummy, melt in the mouth goodness. And to top it all, upon settling the bill we were offered a free chocolate of choice each. Worth every penny Cafe Chocolat, we will be back later in the year. Please don’t change a thing, as it would be a shame to spoil perfection! Xx Ann Brooke and Elise, Hertfordshire. p.s Love the teapot, you should sell them!

Great food and service. I had the breaded fish with scampi and calamari. It was beautifully cooked, not at all greasy. I had crêpes with dark chocolate and raspberry sorbet (not on the menu). It was a perfect dessert. The waitresses were both very friendly and attentive. They also do a 2 course set menu for £10 which is a bargain.

We had been here last year and had enjoyed the experience so today we returned with our daughter, son in law and black lab. We really wanted to sit together as we had met up in Hornsea for the day. Unfortunately they were busy and no tables for four diners. We were just about to leave when a friendly young man and lady came out and a couple were just leaving so the table was wiped down and put with another table so four of us could eat together. This was a lovely gesture as we don’t see each other often due to living 60 miles apart and the lockdowns. The food was lovely and we all enjoyed our meals. The service by the young waiter was excellent he couldn’t do enough for us what a credit to this cafe he is he really made our day. All the diners leaving this cafe seemed very happy. Definitely recommend. Thank You so much.

Went to this delightful cafe for lunch today. Something for everyone on the large menu. We opted for the 2 courses for £9.50. I had cheese and onion quiche with fried potatoes coleslaw and small side salad my husband the panini with corn chips and side salad. I finished with the chocolate and salted caramel fudge cake with ice cream, husband the rocky road sundae. Drinks were served quickly mine a pot of tea and husband glass of coke. Felt really safe as there was hand sanitizers a one way in and out and the staff with visors on. Total bill was £22.80 which was value for lovely food. Definitely recommend.

Very professional at these difficult times but all the safety precautions were taken we ate lunch here on three occasions and tried many different items on the menu and all enjoyed I would say the beef bourginon was our preferred dish but with specials on the lunch menu it’s difficult not to go for the two or three courses and try most dishes I would have liked a glass of wine and if they had a licence then it would have been five stars but it’s definitely four stars plus highly recommend and we will certainty return they have special five course evenings and I could see they were all sold out not surprisingly they deserve to be.

Went in here to get a takeaway hot chocolate for my son. Ordered a medium and was shocked when she charged me £3.50! Paid up and went away grumbling that it better be the best hot chocolate ever, well guess what it was! I don't know what witchcraft they perform in there but I have never tasted anything like it. My son also thought it was beyond compare and now I will have to get him one every time we pass. Well done I retract my grumble, worth every penny.

Cafe chocolat opens once or twice a month to run a Friday evening dinner service. It books up weeks in advance but we managed to get a table for this week. This is a small, charming cafe restaurant with picture windows on two sides looking out over Newbegin. The menu is small but varied - meat, fish and vegetarian in every course. It’s a five course package for £26 and has no licence so bring your own wine. My salmon fish cake starter was bought-in but very good and well presented. The deep-fried Brie with cranberry was well received by my companions. My main course was slow cooked lamb in a rich sauce. It was a quality cut of meat, cooked to perfection and very generous in portion. Vegetables including two kinds of potato came in a side dish. I had to decline dessert but came away with a nice piece of lemon tart. My wife was enthusiastic about her lime and lemon crepes. Service was prompt and friendly. A very good meal and we will return

A superb little cafe in the main street which provides excellent food whilst also being an outlet for remarkable chocolate with an overall touch of the French Cuisine. Has special nights which always seem to be very popular and on these occasions booking is essential. It would be an unusual palate which finds the food here unacceptable. An eating place highly recommended.

Well when I say that we were wowed by this place I mean it! The set lunch was an absolute steal at 12.00 per head and they cook things from scratch- like their soup of the day, quiche of the day and fishcake of the day! We started with a fabulous tomato soup served with a warm fresh roll, as well as an order of their nachos. Mains were scampi and fried potatoes and the smoked haddock fishcake of the day with salad and potatoes. Both healthy portions and delicious. The dessert- we both had the chocolate croissant bread and butter pudding and for my other half to say it was the best pudding of his life just demonstrates how good it was. Unctuous, warm and with a pot of cream for real indulgence, this was sensationally good and totally unexpected of this little eaterie in Hornsea.

OK if you like stodgy food. Not a light bite. No calorie information on menu. You have to wait. Not open to preparing anything lighter not on menu. After visiting the Hornsea museum we decided we would stop in here for lunch. We had toasties, cheese burgers and pannnis. The food came out and looked lovely and our drinks were nice and cool. My daughter was half way through her panni when she found a hair on her plate. I just took it off and said oh it must have been a mistake to her and she started eating again. After another bite there was another hair on her plate and I couldn't ignore it this time. I went up to the counter and explained to the lady who then made us a fresh one. My daughter was so hungry at this point so we stayed but I checked this one over before she ate it. The lady came over and said sorry and asked us if we would like a drink on the house to say sorry which we took the drink but as we had two children we had to split the drink which is not very practical. We would not go back here as a hair on a plate is kot good at all never mind two hairs!

Called again this week ,upon completion of our holiday home. Again fabulous food , staff and gorgeous chocolates! Cannot wait to visit again when we are in Hornsea ! This place is a must to eat at

After years of trying we managed to book the "special monthly evening" 5 course dinner. It was worth the wait - and we booked again for October! Chocolat is not usually open in the evening so this is a definite "bonus" and dates are quickly booked up. The cafe does not have an alcohol licence but diners can take their own wine without any "corkage" charge (a nice touch we thought). The meal was excellent as the choices were just that little bit different and well presented. Service was prompt and friendly from staff who seemed genuinely happy to be doing something different from normal. £25 per head (plus own cheap wine) is a bargain. We looked forward to it and it exceeded expectations. Looking forward to October now!

Busy little cafe, with beautiful food and friendly obliging staff. Meal deals are available. The puddings here are mouthwatering. Small eating area outside. In my opinion this cafe is more suited to adults than children. A little bonus is a delicious free chocolate of your choice when paying for a meal. These chocolates are available to buy and make lovely gifts. There is also a fine dining experience once a month, on an evening, but book early as these are very popular. Closed on a Sunday.

I got tempted in with the name and I was not disappointed! Really lovley lady serving us, had three children (2 infants) but we're so accommodating and lovley. I had a white Hot chocolate and goodness it was delicious, good job I have a sweet tooth. We had the set menu which was really good value and everything was delicious. Such a lovley little gem in a quiet seaside town!

We popped in for a spot of lunch with friends and were pleasantly surprised. The kids all had adult meals and we all had the £7.99 two course menu which was fab! Burgers, fishcakes and panini were delicious and just what we needed after a long walk. The puddings were even better! The kids went for ice creams, crêpes and we had the apple pie, pain au chocolat bread and butter pudding and cheesecake. All the plates were cleared! Staff were really helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely go back and will recommend to others. Top Nosh!

Found this lovely cafe on TripAdvisor whilst traveling from Leicester to Scarborough. It was a short journey off the M62, so the perfect stop off to refuel. As a family of four our 7 & 4 year old enjoyed playing with the toys whilst we waited for food. Food was lovely and kids picnic bag went down a treat. The afternoon teas that came out looked amazing! Very happy with our find.

We stopped in on a Tuesday late afternoon. There was only one table occupied so it was nice and quiet. We both had double scoop cones. There were loads of ice cream flavours to choose from. Yummy.

First visit to this lovely little restaurant to celebrate 🍾 both Mother’s Day and my wife's 60th birthday and we were not disappointed! The setting in the window table with background music and plenty of space was perfect. We ate off the a la carte menu and we both had three courses complimented by a bottle of fizz. Each course was food heaven and the service was exceptional so we will be returning for the Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday in April. Thank you

I've used the takeaway service several times now since covid and the first couple of times was hit and miss. I was not impressed with the plain rather overpriced hot dog. But I persevered and I have now discovered the beef Piri burger which is delicious, their chips are genuinely the nicest I've ever had! However, the 'home made' desserts were really disappointing. They come in a carton with the manufacturer's name on it. Clearly factory made and frozen, very small portion at £3.80 each I feel completely ripped off!
