The best restaurants in Gargrave and Malhamdale Craven Yorkshire and The Humber

This is about 4th time I have been to Le Caveau, never disappointed, the food is amazing and the staff cant do enough for you, 'Mark the Chef and Alastair the waiter', I took my family for the first time on 20th December and they thoroughly enjoyed and plan to return in the spring, so if your looking for something that little bit special this is the restaurant, get booked on!

Used to be my favourite chippy, last couple of times it's gone way downhill, chips inedible, cold and hard, after a 5 min wait for fish! Prices are high so it's not cheap if you don't enjoy it! Roll back time to 2 years ago and it was a far better chip shop! I won't be going again

If you find yourself in Malham, I would recommend making the effort to walk the short distance up Finkle Street, out of the village centre to the Cawden Barn Coffee & Bakehouse. You won't be disappointed, great place not only for coffee and cake but also sandwiches, lunch etc. 👍👍

We ate here 3 times during our week in Skipton and we will definitely be returning. Well cooked, good quality food served by helpful, cheerful, friendly, efficient staff. We came out on every visit well fed and smiling.

Stayed at The Lister Arms for a couple of nights mid week. We stayed in the Lister Barn which is a 2 minute walk from the actual pub. Cosy and warm, tastefully decorated with lovely toiletries - a real gem of a place. The main pub is really cosy, with a gorgeous fire burning all day and evening. Breakfast and dinner here were both really good with large portions. Lots of dogs inside the bar area too which was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

First time eating here .... Will definitely be back. Food was great, large portions, reasonably priced. Lovely atmosphere and staff were lovely.

Visited for New Year’s Eve - packed full of Gargrave folks who enjoy a great curry!!🍛 I have to say the service from Ady and all his team is first class and some of the best care and attention you will ever get- great food and an all round great experience . Anyone who likes a great curry ( not too hot or spicy) - a great atmosphere and brilliant caring service then this is the place to be - great work chaps - love you guys - N& C 🙏🙏🫵🐑🐑🏏

Popped in for lunch with my parents after a great walk. Great food and lovely welcoming staff. We had a toastie which was served with a generous salad and chips…just what we needed! Ended up staying for another cuppa and huge chunk of cake! Delicious 🤩

Beautiful setting but poor customer service. The person who served us verged in rudeness, insisting on us conforming to the rule of a table number before we ordered despite the place being nearly empty. Felt like Fawlty. Towers.

Me and my family stayed at beck hall for 3 days and ate solely at the restaurant with our spaniel puppy who was treated like royalty and staff dote on dogs The menu is diverse from a breakfast buffet of dreams and perfect fuel to set you up for the day while exploring the area to wholesome evening meals and afternoon tea too Something for all with a variety of plant based dishes full of flavour, my parents aren’t vegan and didn’t miss the meat at all , opened their eyes to what veganism can be , some a hit and some a miss but the fact they tried it was a big win Wether your vegan or not this plant based hotel and restaurant marks the way for the future , staff friendly and food great quality Highly recommend

We go out once a week for a treat (not easy in the current financial climate). We decided to visit Macleods Restaurant for lunch. The staff were great, very helpful and pleasant throughout. But we felt let down with the food. There are only 5 main courses on offer, yet one was not available (the burger) as it had not been delivered! Really, you can’t manage to have 5 options delivered and available. We both had the fish and chips, and both of us found the batter heavy and greasy, so we left the batter. Finally, we discovered on paying that a 10% tip was added without notifying us or mentioning it in any way; it was just added to the bill and then included in the total. You shouldn’t just include it in the total and it is not acceptable to put customers in the position of having to ask you to remove a tip from the bill. Money is tight enough without this type of practice, so sadly we won’t be visiting again.

The food is absolutely incredible! We are all well travelled and have been very well fed in our time in some of the world’s best restaurants, and so we had decent expectations when coming to The View, a rosetted restaurant. To be honest when I arrived I thought the decor was lacklustre and the menu sounded like a country pub tick list, but don’t judge a book by its cover! It’s so much more! The quality of the ingredients and the skill and care in the cookery made everything shine through with complete, exquisite excellence. In particular the steak quality and cookery, and the desserts. All to die for! I also enjoyed that on what sounded as something fairly simple on the menu was executed to perfection with classic cookery, but then there would be a little pop of a flavour detail and/or technique that could have come from one of the top restaurants in London, that just added that bit of sparkle to elevate and make it special. The service is a little eccentric but on the other hand very charming and polite! The View is everything you would expect from a top quality, locally sourced, comfortable, countryside culinary experience. Perfect as a mid-week treat or as a relaxed haunt at the weekend. Definitely coming back!

We had a wonderful meal at the Victoria. The pub is cosy and a great spot for a bite. The service was great, super warm and friendly (and very accommodating of all our requests). We were a group of 7, everyone loved the food. I especially liked my cheese and spinach pie, and the sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Would definitely recommend.

The latte tasted like dishwater and the owner was very patronising. It’s a shame because it’s a great location and opportunity to get it right. He needs to learn how to speak to people.

Food was very good, service was very good, my criticism was the male toilets had a very very very strong urine smell. It is a real put off..
