Bollywood Cottage in Craven

Dined in here last year before lockdown and loved it. So I was driving past and I thought I'd pick up a takeaway.What can I say? Just amazing! Friendly and professional service with good quality food. I ordered a Lamb Bengal Masala and asked for it to be hot and it was just right. Lamb really tender and high quality and the sauce was just right amount of heat for me. Portion size was really good as well. Also got a cheese naan which was out of this world with an abundance of cheese (other places really skimp on this but they didn't here). I've been to my fair share of Indians even in Bradford but none with this quality and service.Highly recommend dining or taking away. Great Job!

We were staying near to this restaurant so had the pleasure of trying it twice. First time for the Indian dishes, which were fantastic, very tasty and great portions. The second time we tried the scampi, this was lovely, came with peas and a portion of salad, all freshly cooked and a good plate full, great food and good value for money. Friendly, helpful service as well.

We enjoyed some great food at Bollywood Cottage when we went to celebrate my birthday whilst staying in a nearby cottage. We shared a mixed starter, which was all good. My wife chose the chicken shashlik (a favourite of hers whenever she sees in on a menu!). It was well spiced, and there was plenty of it; both chicken and accompanying peppers, tomatoes and fried onions. The waiter advised a small rice with it, which was plenty. Meanwhile I decided on a lamb biryani, which came served on a delicious flat omelette, and with a very tasty sauce. My son had secretly contacted the restaurant to arrange a surprise birthday dessert, and for the restaurant to telephone him in Scotland when we’d finished our meal so he could pay the bill! Now that’s what I call service beyond the call of duty by the restaurant - and a great birthday present!

Such a beautiful and welcoming restaurant. All staff with masks, visors and gloves. All very safe. Not to mention the fabulous tasty food. Would return definitely

Sauces were nice but my lamb was like trying to eat an old boot! Very overcooked & ruined. Had prawns for starters, they were nice but not alot of them for what they charge. My husband had grilled chicken, which again was overcooked. Wouldn't go back.

We booked the night before we was Impressed by reviews we read and also restaurant was In hotel booklet for good places to eat and also recommended by hotel owners. The menu was very varied a great choice, the service was very good making sure everything was okay. The portions was big we ended up asking for some takeaway boxes as we could not finish all the meal, we enjoyed the leftovers next day. Please visit here as you will not be disappointed, great food very clean up to date with covid rules and very reasonable price for the 2 of us, thank you Bollywood Cottage for a lovely meal and evening visited 7/10/20.

Set in the village of Gargrave is this great curry house. We had to book the night before to get a table for Saturday night. As title says good curry and service.

We stayed at the local Premier Inn and intended to eat there but due to Covid there were no tables until late but the guy on reception recommended the Bollywood Cottage.It is a great little restaurant with lots of choice and really good food. There seemed to be a good local following which is usually a good sign.Would go again when in area.

Visited as part of a holiday in North Yorkshire with my wife. Made to feel very welcome at this restaurant the food was very tasty and reasonably priced. As you can never tell with Indian restaurants I picked a chicken balti for my maincourse instead of something that would’ve been more spicy. You can taste the spice but I would say it is on the mild side of what I’m used to I could easily have taken a jalfrezi which was said to be hotter. All in all very happy with the meal and would certainly return.

An unexpected find; not to be missed. Good range of Indian dishes well presented in style. We couldn't fault it - good service, draught beers , nice surroundings and a good takeaway trade. Really good if, like us, you're on one of the local caravan sites.

We enjoyed a very tasty and good quality meal here with very good service. Tables well spaced and they seem very alive to need to carry out suitable Covid -19 precautions. A little lacking in atmosphere but I think this is due to the precautions necessary as a result of the virus which is just unfortunate.

Ate here early September while walking in the area. Covid meant we could not get a table on the Saturday but the manager was very accommodating and fitted us in on the SUnday.They have a good mix on the menu with many specials.I really enjoye dthe visit. Nice atmosphere and excellent food. if you are in the area pay it a visit.

Excellent meal. Staff friendly and well prepared with appropriate Covid arrangements in place. Mixture of diners and takeaways which is always a good indication that a restaurant is well regarded

Four of us ate here on a Sunday evening. Cannot fault anything, food was outstanding, service excellent and hygiene standards were top class. Beautiful pickles and poppadoms and four meals of king prawn bhuna, chicken jalfrezi, chicken balti all with rice and the tastiest keema naan bread. All washed down with a litre of red wine between us. Prices were fantastic also. £60 bill between us. Wish I lived near so I could visit more often.

Booked in for 1830 and had to be finished by 2000hrs as very busy evening. Went with extended family. All enjoyed starters and mains and sides. Delicious food with great table service. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Excellent Saturday night takeaway. Really tasty curry. Had a pint outside whilst waiting and great to see so many COVID safety precautions in place. Highly recommended

Visited about a month ago for a takeaway which was excellent so on Friday ordered another one. All the staff are very friendly. Was hoping it was as good as last time & was not disappointed. We has fish pakora, chicken pakora & chicken tikka for starters all excellent & resulted in clean plates. For main chicken makhani, chicken madras, chicken tikka & chicken bhuna. Great portion size, which is great as can have the rest at lunch. The food is excellent. Well worth a visit. Support local business. We will definitely return. Thank you.

The best Curry in UK! All dishes are expertly presented and filled with fusions of great spices ! Staff very attentive! A touch expensive but for the highest standards of Indian cuisine, that’s irrelevant! The whole experience is fabulous and I highly recommend anything off the menu!

We were on holiday in Gargrave and decided to try a take away from here after reading good reviews. We rang with our order and it was ready to collect in 20 mins. It was a really lovely curry , and you get plenty of it.

We have just been for our first meal out since March. Bollywood Cottage is by far our favourite Indian restaurant and we have been in a few. We were slightly worried about eating out but they have got all the safety aspects in place and are still keeping their usual professionalism.The food is excellent and in all the times we have been has never varied in quality.Well done Bollywood Cottage for adapting to the new normal so well x

Post lockdown. Really comfortable and confident with procedures. Was superb for Gluten free. (Suitable for coeliacs) food of a very high standard. Would definitely return.

4th July visited restaurant, I would recommend this restaurant after lock down, food excellent,service first class, PPE worn by all staff. perspex screens installed to create independent booths without feeling isolated. Brilliant !!!

Support local business. Had a takeaway tonight. We have eaten in previously, however it’s lockdown all things have changed. We had 3 starters , 4 mains & naans. As the previous reviewer mentioned food kept separate & warm food in a takeaway carrier box which kept the food very warm. Has to be the best take away curry we have had. Lovely food. Thank you

Ordered a takeaway last night for my birthday celebration. It was superb. The hot food was piping hot and they thoughtfully put the cold items (pickles and salads) in a separate bag which was great. Everything was neatly labelled and the food was delicious. Importantly in these times, collection and payment was safe and straightforward. We will definitely come back for another takeaway and look forward to coming back to the restaurant when it's safe to open again. Thank you Bollywood Cottage.

Wow what a absolute Gem... Totally shocked how busy this Indian was until the food came out, then realized why it was so popular, food was totally exquisite, one of the best Indian meals I've ever tasted, and service and value for money was awesome..Highly recommended

As I am in the area a lot I've been here many times and simply never had a bad meal, always trying something different. great service and good prices. A little gem hidden in Gargrave.

After a lovely walk in the dales I booked a table here on Sunday evening for me and my wife. First visit for us at this Indian and it won't be our last! We were greeted with a warm welcome and served amazing food. This is how it went;Two pints of cobra to begin with then we ordered a Special starter for 2 as it had variety, and it was really nice especially the sheek kebab. For our mains I went for the naga chicken which had a really nice flavour and was the perfect level of heat for me. My wife is a bit fussy with curries but the staff were more than happy to help as she wanted a jalfrazi with spinach and chickpeas which was not a problem for them. We shared a peshwari naan (which was the best peshwari naan we've ever had) and an onion rice. We even went for a dessert as we saw a luscious chocolate cake on the menu and we couldn't resist.We would highly recommend this place to anyone as the food and service was excellent. (We will definitely be returning)

Pre booked a table, sadly the restaurant had overbooked, no tables available and the wait time was unacceptabley long.very disappointing for a Saturday night birthday treat. Won't be returning.

Nice restaurant with a warm welcome. There is a seating area outside which would be nice in nice weather. The food was lovely we had a sharer starter for 2 which was delicious followed by saag paneer and a chicken Keralla. We had a garlic and keema naan each also. All food and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Ate here with my Wife, Daughter and Son in law. Meal was fablious (correct spelling by the way). I love Indian food and this place did not fall short. Onion Bhajis were not the best but I prefer round not flat. However, I was outvoted so that is that.

Called in on a Wednesday evening on spec. Resturant was full and we had to wait ten minutes for a table (all good signs). Food was excellent and waiters couldn't be better. Will return if we're in the area again

My girlfriend and me had a dinner on 25th October. Really Indian food, excellent quality and the staff is really friendly.

Travelling with my cousins who came all the way from Far East to visit us. We came to this restaurant because we stayed at the nearby Premier Inn over night on the way to Yorkshire and York. It was rainy, cold and dark. Thought Indian spicy food could cheer us up. The service was excellent. My husband liked his Naan bread and my King prawn Byriyani was delicious. My cousins also enjoyed their dishes. The only disappointment was no Bollywood show to watch :), otherwise, it would be perfect. XD

Food was excellent. A long time since I have seen so much meat in curry dish. Didn't have to play 'spot the lamb' in the dish. Very generous portions. Garlic naan was fantastic, very light and well cooked. Service was excellent and staff very accommodating.

A more than adequate but not exceptional Indian dinner. Strong suspicion that the vegetables in the korma were frozen didn't help the (a brussel sprout in a korma in September was unusual).

We were staying in Gargrave and had completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks . After training hard for 8 months for this challenge we decided to celebrate and treat ourselves to a curry . We were not disappointed . Excellent meal and good service . Would definitely revisit if in the area

We were recommended to this place but I don’t think I would be rushing back. The food is average at best

Came here twice in a four day trip. Beautiful flavours, reasonable prices and friendly service. I'd recommend going for a main and a couple of side dishes plus rice to share between two (unless you're with someone who hates sharing!). The aubergine and the chick peas in particular are gorgeous. The Yorkshire pheasant curry had a lovely flavour too. Naan bread is quite bready, so I'd personally give that a miss. But I'd happily come and try some more of the extensive menu again!

Food was lovely and lots of choice. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful when asked about the menu. Very reasonably priced. 5 star food hygiene rating. Restaurant looked nice inside but we chose to sit outside which was a bonus.

We went to celebrate my birthday. I had asked to go to Bollywood Cottage as I love the food, though my wife and daughter dislike that the staff usually hover and whisk plates away almost as soon as the last forkful is on its way up to your mouth.

We went here as the hotel food was poor and were so glad we did. We managed to get a table but had to leave by a set time but that was fine. We got served I plenty of time. Lovely food and a nice place to sit and eat. Would highly recommend

Visited here on 13.06.2019. Ordered poppadoms and the chutneys were fresh. Lamb bhuna was excellent, seasoned well and plenty of tender lamb. Ordered garlic nann and cooked rice, also cooked well. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. ( I cook curries myself ) Staff were pleasant. Advise to book as it was busy on a Thursday evening. Hopefully visit again if in the vicinity!

Lovely setting in neat village on the Canal (Liverpool to Leeds) Well appointed with prompt helpful service. Reasonable prices. Quite superior curries. Fresh and savoury. For a group well coordinated service. Flexible about ingredients. Nice place overall

Ate here on a Sunday evening having moored on the nearby canal. Good food, attentive service but not over done, and really reasonably priced especially when compared to City prices. Great naan!

We had travelled up from Leicestershire to stay in Coniston. We chose to eat at Bollywood Cottage as we didn't want to eat standard pub fayre. We booked a table - I would recommend booking as this is a busy restaurant. Also leave early as parking is at a premium in Gargrave. We enjoyed our meal and drinks. The service was friendly and prompt, the portion sizes we're generous and the prices were reasonable.

Lovely tasty food in great surroundings. We had a lovely booth table near the door and it felt very plush. Just a short walk from our hotel we enjoyed a relaxing, delicious meal with friends.

Popular Indian in a great Dales village. Decent priced, decent choice of decent food. Plenty to eat, I'd recommend sharing portions as they're every generous but still great quality. Friendly service. Wine could be better, but it is an Indian! Might have the beer next time.

This place was recommended to us as the best place for a curry near to where we were staying in Gisburn. We hadn’t booked as we didn’t know when we would arrive but they were fully booked so we thought we’d setttle on a takeaway. Luckily it was a warm evening so took a seat outside instead. Lots of menu options and was hard to choose but all meals were extremely tasty and the naan bread was delicious. Definitely did not feel unhygienic and on the whole the staff were friendly and attentive.

I rang this restaurant having heard good reviews. I am single and asked for a table for one I was told there would be one available in 30-45 minutes. I gave my name and came to the restaurant 4( minutes later.

I got recommended this restaurant by a friend at work so thought I would treat my wife to a night out somewhere we hadn't been before. The restaurant is very warm and cosy with a nice atmosphere. We had the mix starter to share which was very tasty and then ordered two main courses. Both the keema and chicken tikka patia were excellent and full of flavour with just the right amount of heat. Wonderful evening and definitely a restaurant that we will visit again.

Probably one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been in. Its very welcoming inside with a varied menu. The quality of the food is top notch and the service is excellent.

The four of us had 4 different dishes to share and they were great. The curry’s were medium, with lovely flavours that did not overpower the dishes. We liked the dishes off the fusion menu. We dined early as they were fully booked later....advice is book for a Saturday night. My assessment is that the price is good value.

Had a very nice meal here in pleasant surroundings. Very reasonably priced, lots of choice and good sized portions. There seemed to be lots of local people dining which is always a good sign I think. A short drive from the centre of Skipton and the parking is not too brilliant but otherwise we will definitely go back or even get a take out.

We visited while staying in Gargrave for New Year. Service was excellent, food was lovely and the bill was very reasonable indeed. My chicken Balti was one of the best I’ve ever had - everyone enjoyed all the food they had. Highly recommended!

We ate here as two adults and one child. The staff were fabulous, friendly and the food is gorgeous. We were staying in the area so we walked to the restaurant. We did make a reservation. The food is excellent. Would recommend.

Went to Skipton to see the Christmas market and ended up having dinner here. Good ambience of the place and friendly staff. We were able to order quite a few vegetarian food from the menu. Both the side dishes ordered by us were very tasty and the chapati quite soft. Overall an enjoyable experience.

Booked a table for early doors Sat evening.The restaurant is warm,very clean & all the staff are polite & attentive.The food served was very tasty & well prepared HOWEVER look at the menu very closely before ordering.All side dishes are priced separately.The drinks were overpriced.OTHERWISE it is undoubtedly an excellent Iindian restaurant.

Excellent food, both the Fish and Chicken Pakoras were delicious, Chicken Madras and Chicken Patia both flavoursome and true to taste, decent sized helpings. Staff friendly and service very good if I was to nit pick it would be the starters arrived whilst still eating the poppadums, surely we should have been allowed to finish these first! and the mains followed the starters rather rapidly so when I do visit again I will make sure I ask for a 15 minute breather in between courses.

We stayed at the Coniston, which was great apart from the food, so we were delighted to find this little gem of an Indian Restaurant in a nearby village. My dairy free requests were no problem, I could even have pilau rice as they use vegetable ghee. My three vegetable side dishes were huge and beautifully cooked, each having a very distinct flavour and character. My husband shared them with his Chicken Bhuna. Thank you Bollywood. Plenty of food for two plus a lager for £29!

Having heard great things about this place we decided to go, nice homely feeling to the restaurant, food arrived quickly, i have ordered many a chicken madras in my time and i was very disappointed with their version of this classic dish. Madras should be spicy and tangy (i should know its all i eat) however this one was VERY mild, mire like a mild curry than a spicy one.

Just walked in without booking late Sunday night. We all had something we wouldn’t normally get (coz we felt adventurous) and everybody enjoyed the dish they had and were all very full.

Stayed in this lovely village 3 nights. As we now live abroad we always fancy an Indian meal. This was OK but overall disappointing as we expected better from the reviews and menu. Staff pleasant, the settting fine but only average.

If you ever have the good fortune to call into this fabulous restaurant you will not be disappointed, it is simply perfect. Firstly the staff are amazingly polite, very helpful and friendly and never fail to make any visit a lovely experience. The restaurant is very smart and yet is a great place to relax and enjoy a meal.

Fantastic little curry house in a quaint village. Seated quickly & drink order taken. Drinks arrived & orders taken. Waiters were very attentive & helpful. The starters & main courses were tasty hot & plenty full. My daughter in law could nt finish it & took a "doggy bag " home.

Just visited the local curry house in Gargrave. Did not expect too much as we have so many very nice restaurants to choose from in our local area.

Nice food, but little too sweet for my taste. Korma and masala were sweet.Service was really good and overall experience recommended.

Ate here twice during our stay in Gargrave standard of food was excellent and reasonably priced wine definitely will return as we’ve booked another break in Gargrave later this year.

I have eaten in a lot of Indian resteraunts this place rates close to the top of the pile. Friendly service great beer on tap beautiful food. Would I eat here again yes I would.

By far the best curry we have ever had, and we have eaten them all over the world, the restaurant, staff service was absolutely top drawer. This was our end of holiday meal, we will be back make no mistake, thank you for a great meal

Thanks to Trip Advisor located this restaurant whilst on boating holiday. Food was excellent with attentive service. We were so happy to find such good quality food by chance and would return without hesitation. Prawn madras had so many prawns in it which is unusual. Very tasty.

Managed to get a table at the last minute and we weren't disappointed. I had a vegetable curry which was excellent and had a really good mix of vegetables. Everyone had different meals and no complaints at all. Will definitely be going again.

My friend and I booked a table for a Saturday evening, the staff were courteous and efficient. The menu was varied and interesting, prices were very reasonable, portions quite large. When we go again we will probably just order one main course to share as on our first visit we both had pickle tray, starters and two mains, two rice and naan bread.

Lovely meal in a great restaurant not far from where we were staying. Excellent service, highly recommended.

Have been to this restraunt a few times...and again excellent food and service. Will be going back!!
