Wedding anniversary meal out, had takeaway before and enjoyed it so thought we would dine in. Never again if you’re not local don’t visit. Don’t want to hear locals talking loudly about shooting animals while I’m trying to enjoy my meal. While I respect this is a hobby there is a time and a place !! The staff also appeared to turn rude towards us as we weren’t locals!! Disgusting customer service

We have benn to the Bollywood many, many times and it is by some margin the best in the area. Good, consistent, authentic Indian dishes, well balanced spices, well cooked, with good quality ingredients. Good naan breads , chapati and nice pickle tray. Good rice, the Murchi rice is awesome, a real spicy kick. Half a tandoori chicken on the bone is excellent, my go to dish, good quality and well balanced spices. I've read some reviews saying the dishes lacked flavour, no idea what they expected, all dishes are different. The beauty of Bollywood is that they have dishes to suit everyone. If you want delicate, creamy spices then go for the rich and smooth butter chicken with big chunks of chicken. If you want a powerful spicy tangy curry, go for the Naga chicken, especially with the spicy Murchi rice, full of flavour, it will bow your socks off ! When we eat in, the service is always efficient and friendly. If you do eat in, I recommend the shashlik, delicious, tasty, good quality meat with onions and peppers on a sizzling platter, great spectacle 😊.

We visited the restaurant after reading plenty of great reviews. The location is lovely, and kept clean and the outdoor seating is a great addition. All the food was lovely and fresh and the staff were all friendly and accomodating. However myself and my husband both found that our curries were lacking a little flavour. My husband had a vindaloo and unfortunately found it lacking much flavour at all and said it tasted like just a standard curry gravy. Mine was similar too and I could taste no garlic in my garlic naan, although it was beautiful and fresh it tasted more like a plain naan. My favourite flavour from everything I tasted was the red sauce which came on the pickle tray with the papadums. It was very expensive too, so I would expect a better standard of curry.

Amazing little place! We come from skipton nearly every week and its always perfect. We always enjoy the popadoms and chutneys to start with and they have a really nice spicy relish which I haven't had anywhere else. The. For mains my wife and I share chicken jalfrazi and lamb saag which are always spot on. Big dishes as well so were always stuffed. Also the cheese naan is a must for us, topped with a massive amount of cheese. They have a nice selection of wines and even some from harrods and harvey nichols! Service on point as usual. If you haven't tried this place you're missing out.

I haven't been for a while as I am not very local but every time I come it's amazing as always. Came with a few friends who had never been before and they loved it. We were offered drinks straight away and yhey have cobra on the tap so we all had that. For starters I shared lamb chops and king prawns which were really nice. Then for the mains we also shared a few dishes; naga chicken, lamb dansak, shahi chicken (which was mince and chicken) and also daal. We had these with a garlic naan, and few types of rices. All in all we loved it and my friends said its one of the best they've ever had. The main portions were really good and we took the left overs home. It worked out to around £25 each for us which is good value considering we had drinks, popadoms, starters and mains and the village was quite posh. Service was really good we weren't rushed and the chaps were all super nice and answered any of our questions. Highly recommend visiting.

I had heard much about this place, so I was rather excited to try. Nice village. Nice building. Nice decor. That is where it ends. 13 of us ( diners club) arrived on time with pre-orders. So, they should have got it right. Food was staggered and slow. My king prawn starter was, I have to say, delicious, but tiny, for £11:00 I expected more. My friend ( who writes cook books btw) said it was the first time she had ever had to put salt on an Onion Bhaji. Bland, tasteless, burnt. Ripples of similar disappointment across the table. My main was simply average. Again, small portions. No knives and forks to eat with. We had to ask. As we did for drinks. And napkins. And sauces. Staff had to be asked to take away empty glasses and bowls that were filling the table. Again, food was staggered, with a couple waiting almost 15 mins longer for food, despite pre-orders. My chicken was tough and tasteless. Another friend had lamb, which he said “took some chewing”. Now the disappointment. Despite my main being over £20.00, I was charged £3.50 for a tiny dry chapati to accompany. To add insult to injury, I had a pint of soda water , from the pump ( not bottled), in fact I had 2. For which I was charged £8:00. For 2 glasses of water!!! I queried this. The response I got was to simply have the card machine pushed in my face with “ Please pay now”. I say that it was 2 glasses of water, basically. To which I got “ please pay now” with the card machine almost touching my nose. My fellow guests queried this. To which the response was …. Nothing. So, a small starter, a small and rather bland, luke warm, basic curry with a dry chapati and 2 glasses of water cost me £43.00. Be prepared for average food. Rude staff and being fleeced. I eat out 2-3 times per week. I am always happy to buy and enjoy whatever I fancy. I always tip. But not this time. Disappointed to say the least. I won’t be returning, as will a few of my friends who were equally as disappointed. I would avoid this place. There are many beautiful eating places all around this area. This is not one of them.

The Bollywood Cottage is in an idyllic location in the centre of the village near the river. The restaurant was smart inside, well laid out with smartly dressed attentive staff. The food was however a bit varied. The mixed starter for two was wonderful and had a selection of delicious items. The food was all piping hot which was nice. The main dishes of Bhuna and Makani were both very sweet and slightly watery. Randomly they even added Glacé Cherries to the Makani, these were awful and no doubt added to the excessive sweetness of the dish!

We came across this by accident when visiting Gargrave and are so please we did. The food was excellent, very tasty without being too overpowering. We sat outside as we had the dog with us (they don't accept dogs inside - which is totally understandable) but it was a lovely warm evening anyway so that was not a problem at all. The staff were very friendly and the food arrived quickly and was really hot (temperature hot not spicy hot!). The portion sizes were very good, we even took some home with us as there was far too much to eat in one go. Excellent value for money. We would highly recommend this restaurant and, when next in the area, we will not hesitate to visit here again.

Friendly and professional service with good quality food. I ordered a Lamb Bengal Masala and asked for it to be hot and it was just right. Lamb really tender and high quality and the sauce was just right amount of heat for me. Portion size was really good as well. Also got a cheese naan which was out of this world with an abundance of cheese (other places really skimp on this but they didn't here). I've been to my fair share of Indians even in Bradford but none with this quality and service.Highly recommend dining or taking away. Great Job!

We enjoyed some great food at Bollywood Cottage when we went to celebrate my birthday whilst staying in a nearby cottage. We shared a mixed starter, which was all good. My wife chose the chicken shashlik (a favourite of hers whenever she sees in on a menu!). It was well spiced, and there was plenty of it; both chicken and accompanying peppers, tomatoes and fried onions. The waiter advised a small rice with it, which was plenty. Meanwhile I decided on a lamb biryani, which came served on a delicious flat omelette, and with a very tasty sauce. My son had secretly contacted the restaurant to arrange a surprise birthday dessert, and for the restaurant to telephone him in Scotland when we’d finished our meal so he could pay the bill! Now that’s what I call service beyond the call of duty by the restaurant - and a great birthday present!

Visited as part of a holiday in North Yorkshire with my wife. Made to feel very welcome at this restaurant the food was very tasty and reasonably priced. As you can never tell with Indian restaurants I picked a chicken balti for my maincourse instead of something that would’ve been more spicy. You can taste the spice but I would say it is on the mild side of what I’m used to I could easily have taken a jalfrezi which was said to be hotter. All in all very happy with the meal and would certainly return.

Lovely tasty food in great surroundings. We had a lovely booth table near the door and it felt very plush. Just a short walk from our hotel we enjoyed a relaxing, delicious meal with friends.

Popular Indian in a great Dales village. Decent priced, decent choice of decent food. Plenty to eat, I'd recommend sharing portions as they're every generous but still great quality. Friendly service. Wine could be better, but it is an Indian! Might have the beer next time.

This place was recommended to us as the best place for a curry near to where we were staying in Gisburn. We hadn’t booked as we didn’t know when we would arrive but they were fully booked so we thought we’d setttle on a takeaway. Luckily it was a warm evening so took a seat outside instead. Lots of menu options and was hard to choose but all meals were extremely tasty and the naan bread was delicious. Definitely did not feel unhygienic and on the whole the staff were friendly and attentive.

I rang this restaurant having heard good reviews. I am single and asked for a table for one I was told there would be one available in 30-45 minutes. I gave my name and came to the restaurant 4( minutes later.

I got recommended this restaurant by a friend at work so thought I would treat my wife to a night out somewhere we hadn't been before. The restaurant is very warm and cosy with a nice atmosphere. We had the mix starter to share which was very tasty and then ordered two main courses. Both the keema and chicken tikka patia were excellent and full of flavour with just the right amount of heat. Wonderful evening and definitely a restaurant that we will visit again.

The four of us had 4 different dishes to share and they were great. The curry’s were medium, with lovely flavours that did not overpower the dishes. We liked the dishes off the fusion menu. We dined early as they were fully booked later....advice is book for a Saturday night. My assessment is that the price is good value.

Had a very nice meal here in pleasant surroundings. Very reasonably priced, lots of choice and good sized portions. There seemed to be lots of local people dining which is always a good sign I think. A short drive from the centre of Skipton and the parking is not too brilliant but otherwise we will definitely go back or even get a take out.

We visited while staying in Gargrave for New Year. Service was excellent, food was lovely and the bill was very reasonable indeed. My chicken Balti was one of the best I’ve ever had - everyone enjoyed all the food they had. Highly recommended!

Went to Skipton to see the Christmas market and ended up having dinner here. Good ambience of the place and friendly staff. We were able to order quite a few vegetarian food from the menu. Both the side dishes ordered by us were very tasty and the chapati quite soft. Overall an enjoyable experience.

Excellent food, both the Fish and Chicken Pakoras were delicious, Chicken Madras and Chicken Patia both flavoursome and true to taste, decent sized helpings. Staff friendly and service very good if I was to nit pick it would be the starters arrived whilst still eating the poppadums, surely we should have been allowed to finish these first! and the mains followed the starters rather rapidly so when I do visit again I will make sure I ask for a 15 minute breather in between courses.

We stayed at the Coniston, which was great apart from the food, so we were delighted to find this little gem of an Indian Restaurant in a nearby village. My dairy free requests were no problem, I could even have pilau rice as they use vegetable ghee. My three vegetable side dishes were huge and beautifully cooked, each having a very distinct flavour and character. My husband shared them with his Chicken Bhuna. Thank you Bollywood. Plenty of food for two plus a lager for £29!

Having heard great things about this place we decided to go, nice homely feeling to the restaurant, food arrived quickly, i have ordered many a chicken madras in my time and i was very disappointed with their version of this classic dish. Madras should be spicy and tangy (i should know its all i eat) however this one was VERY mild, mire like a mild curry than a spicy one.

After reading the reviews, we booked for dinner here. I have to say, given all the reviews and all their accolades, we were expecting great things. Firstly, the staff seemed disinterested and bored. The restaurant was pretty cold, despite the fact we were sitting next to a radiator. I had the vegetable Balti, which was just OK. It tasted like they had used mixed frozen vegetables and the sauce was nothing special. My husband had Hydra Badi Chicken, and said it was one of the blandest curries he had ever tasted. It wasn't a bad meal, but did not meet the hype...or come anywhere close.

Beware if there is only 2 of you wanting to eat out here. Waiter refused to let us sit on a table for 4 because there was only 2 of us. There were 3 empty tables for 4 plus 1 table for 2, but that was pushed up to the service counter and that was the table the waiter offered us. We didn't want to sit immediatly next to where customers would be hovering over us whilst paying for and collecting take-aways and where the phone was ringing and conversations between the waiter and customers were regularly taking place. When he said we couldn't sit elsewhere, I said 'we'll leave it then'. Then the waiter responded, in a sarcastic voice, with a 'BYEEE'. So that's a loss of income for them of between £1500-£1700 over the next year as we would have called in for a sit down meal for two every fortnight, plus a takeaway for two once a fortnight. We then had a meal at one of their competitors and then walked around Settle before heading off home. Whilst walking around Settle we looked into the Spice restaurant again to see if all the tables that we had been refused the use of, had now been taken. There were still 3 tables for 4 that were empty, plus the same table for 2, that is pushed up to the counter, was also empty. PS We had been to the Spice a fortnight earlier and the same waiter had tried to have us sit at the same table by the counter. On that occasion we asked if we could sit on another table and when he said no, we asked 'why not?' He then said 'ok' and we sat elsewhere. We didn't want to go through the same 'negotiation' for a second time. It's dimple, if they don't value us as customers then we'll spend our money elsewhere.

Our second visit, while staying nearby on holiday. Generous portions and great value. Could have done with a reminder that it is cash only when ordering by phone, but a cash point is just round the corner. Looking forward to our next visit

We order from this takeaway regularly. Decided to order via phone rather than just eat, to save us extra charges and them. When they show up they charged us extortionate prices for the bare minimum food order we ordered. Put it this way they were very expensive kebabs and donner meat and chips! When rung and confronted about this price they told us they charge just eat prices even without just eat taking the extra cost from them which they don’t state on their business website and had no explanation for this really either. Poor customer service and quite frank a Robbing service too! Think before ordering as I’m sure you could get the same food at half the price elsewhere. Daylight robbery whether they’re over charging or the delivery guy is pocketing the extra money!
