Me and my family stayed at beck hall for 3 days and ate solely at the restaurant with our spaniel puppy who was treated like royalty and staff dote on dogs The menu is diverse from a breakfast buffet of dreams and perfect fuel to set you up for the day while exploring the area to wholesome evening meals and afternoon tea too Something for all with a variety of plant based dishes full of flavour, my parents aren’t vegan and didn’t miss the meat at all , opened their eyes to what veganism can be , some a hit and some a miss but the fact they tried it was a big win Wether your vegan or not this plant based hotel and restaurant marks the way for the future , staff friendly and food great quality Highly recommend

I sat outside in the sunshine, next to the babbling brookwith my mum and my dog, for a delicious and peaceful lunch. The staff were friendly and attentive, the setting and restaurant were lovely, the menu had a good variety and choice. Excellent service and the food is so delicious and just incredible. I had the steak followed by the cheesecake. I can't wait to go back there again to try something else.

We have visited this beautiful place several times while on holidays over the years, as it was recommended to us. We always chose the clotted cream tea, as it was one of the best we'd had, but sadly this year, we arrive to find theres no clotted cream and everything is plant based vegan 🫤 To say I was disappointed was an understatement, especially after riding an extra 35 miles out of my way to visit! Sadly we won’t be returning and will find another establishment that does proper clotted cream teas in future. Photos are from a previous visit we had

We have been visiting the Secret Garden every time we go to Malham for around five years, and all the times the food was gorgeous. We took our friends and family here, and they loved it so much that on my family's latest visit to the UK, my mum specifically asked if we could come here again. I organised a trip to Malham and booked a table at The Secret Garden without thinking twice. Unfortunately, what I didn't realise is that the restaurant has gone full vegan... The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the interior has not changed. Furthermore, the dogs are accepted here, which is one of the reasons we kept coming back. However, the food was not great. All of us ordered Sunday roast not understanding that dishes are actually not meet 😔 I did get a bit curious to the reason why sea food has completely disappeared from the menu as this would be the option I would normally go for. We ate most of our portions as we were starving AND because we paid an atrocious amount of money for this. At first I thought the price was a bit high, but accaptable as previously food tasted as it would in a high class restaurant and now it was something you might be served in a canteen. The gravy was sour, the coliflower and "cheese" had a questionable aftertaste, etc. Even those of us who are not fussy at all did not enjoy the meal this time. I must add that one of the dishes we ordered was truffle mash, and it was very delicious. I think we made a mistake by ordering "meat" and if we chose vegetables they would probably be lovely... but I guess we will never know as, unfortunately, we will not be coming back. I'm so very disappointed. It is a shame that the restaurant has changed and instead of catering for all diets decided to go with being 100% vegan.

I felt seriously misled by this place. First let me say that the the location is lovely and the garden seating great too. But the menu and signage are completely misleading. Both mention "vegan options" but nowhere is it pointed out that there is only vegan options. We ordered a cream tea and only when i noticed the odd coloured milk was i told it was oat milk. I asked and was told the “butter” and “cream” were vegan options too. There was no mention of vegan only on the menu or on the signage outside. Personally i prefer real dairy to vegan alternatives and wouldn’t have gone there had i known. That apart the location is lovely and the staff were fine.

Fab food at this lovely location! After a walk Malham Cove and back into the village we had the choice of several places for lunch and am so pleased we picked the Secret Garden. Vegan food is as amazing! I had a cream 'cheese' bagel with a lovely salad and slaw. Hubbie had the fried 'chicken' burger which was delicious too! Really recommend. Great service and chatty host too.

We were staying in Malham and the Secret Garden was only a short walk. We had a very enjoyable dinner, both of ordered the sea bass which was very good. I was looking forward to the treacle pudding for dessert, but unfortunately it did not live up to expectations, otherwise 5/5. A comfortable restaurant with good friendly service.

This restaurant has suddenly decided to force all customers to eat Vegan ! It's NOT sufficiently signed, and after ordering a steak baguette, a chicken burger, and two lattes it was , to say the least, a shock to be served plant based versions, and latte made with oatmilk I tried my best, the taste wasn't too bad, but the bland gooey texture was distinctly unappetising, and I couldn't finish it The prices (never cheap, but acceptable for the excellent food they served up until a week ago !), seem to have remained about the same It's a real shame, but the "eat what we decide, or go elsewhere " attitude, does not sit well with me, and I and my friends will not be returning It seems unreasonable to be unprepared to offer the customer (who in this case is clearly NOT considered to be always right, or indeed to have a different opinion to the management !) A CHOICE as to their diet !

Lovely location! We stopped in for lunch after having done the circular Malham Cove walk. However we were sorely disappointed by the food! We had 3 tapas dishes; platas bravas were just ok, the lentils were bland and the beef brisket was mostly fat. We thought we got bread with it, but had to order that as well, so the bread came when we were half way through the lunch. Very disappointing.

Wow - what a place. So incredibly welcoming from the moment we arrived. Quirky decor but nothing offensive. We sat in the sun and had drinks before dinner. The manager was the most friendly person we have met in Yorkshire and the bar staff were lovely. Our meal was faultless - this is a menu created by a chef who knows flavours and is brave. I had the stroganoff pudding which was so tasty with truffle mash and lightly steamed broccolini and pickled beets - the balance was incredible. My mate inhaled the chicken with memorable black pudding bonbons and the other one had the short rib which was to die for. We all had the spiced treacle pudding and the wine list was very good. Meal of the trip so far with simply lovely staff. Do not walk past - go in.

The setting is lovely, with lots of outdoor seating by the beck, and some lovely decoration indoors. The food that came out for all the tables all looked great, and there's afternoon tea too (though you need to pre-book that). We experienced a number of errors in the service, though, and the other thing that may put people off are the dogs. We were sat right next to a big, damp dog which somewhat smelled, which was a bit off-putting for lunch. But I get that its a dog friendly place attracting dog owners so not complaining as such, just letting folks who'd be bothered by that know.

The Secret Garden was recommended by a friend and to be honest I had never heard of it, but I will certainly be telling others about it. Felt a bit over dressed as we were celebrating a birthday and had an early evening reservation but lots of more appropriately dressed guests for the surroundings were there but that did not impact our lovely meal and beautiful scenery. When we arrived at around 11:30am, we were the only table there... by 12:30, it was full. Would definitely recommend getting there just prior to the start of food service for a better chance of getting a table. The outdoor tables line the stream running past the restaurant, making for a lovely setting for a meal. The 'Yorkshire Tapas' was excellent, well-portioned and good value for £11 for three dishes. There was a large drinks menu, including local lagers and ales - I would recommend the Black Sheep 54 Lager brewed in nearby Masham.Staff were very friendly and service was fast. Husband and I ate here today after a walk around Malham Cove. The restaurant has inside and outside searing either in gardens at the front or a terrace next to the river. It's a beautiful setting for outside dining however we opted to sit inside the restaurant that is decorated and furnished beautifully. As it's during the covid-19 pandemic, social distancing is taken seriously with tables set apart and routes for people to follow. Staff wear PPE when serving you. The tables are fully disinfected after each use and the menus are laminated and taken away for cleaning after orderingIt was fairly busy when we arrived with most tables inside taken and the terrace full. We were seated and had our orders taken within 5 minutes, our drinks came within a couple of minutes and our food about 10 minutes later. Our food was fantastic, I had 3 tapas plates (v large portions!) and my husband had the minute steak baguette with chips (large portion of chips). Throughout the visit all of the staff were wonderful and friendly, taking an interest in where we came from and what had brought us to Malham, always had smiles on their faces. With the location, setting, decor and portion sizes you would expect a place like this to be quite expensive, however it's extremely good value. Our food and two drinks each came in at £30.The only sad thing was we couldn't leave a tip as they can't take tips on cards and we had no cash so please bear this in mind. We were upset as we really wanted to show our appreciation for a fantastic meal.

All meals in general of a very good standard and were decent portions. The chicken supreme went down particularly well as did the fish stew. One slight disappointment however was the sticky toffee pudding. The 'cake' was too dense. Not sure if this is made in house or bought in but in my opinion it needs to be a lighter texture. I did enjoy the cheese board although a table close by sent theirs back. Not sure why.Again the staff were excellent.A reminder that dogs are allowed in the restaurant so if this is not your thing stay away.We also had a couple of lunches here. Worth seeking this place out, for some relaxed riverside dining. Interesting decor to enjoy in the restaurant as well. My only citicism was that dogs are allowed in.

Good food, served promptly and well, in a welcoming , comfortable, non formal environment. Bistro style and dog friendly, which is fine by us, and increasingly rare.

My husband and I visited for afternoon tea and were delighted with the selection of sandwiches, cakes and cream scones. I had St. Clements tea and my husband had coffee, with the cakes. All of which were very tasty and flavoursome. Ham, smoked salmon and cheese sandwiches on fresh brown and seeded buns. Warm fruit scones with fresh cream and jam, then sparkle cake, mini chocolate and toffee pot and chocolate brownie. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

We went here as a surprise for my mum's birthday. The setting of the restaurant was idyllic, right next to a stream with a willow tree and as it was a hot summer's day all the bifold doors were open. The decor is really quirky and contemporary and the staff are all really friendly. The food was also very good and the chef let us have tapas even though it had technically finished, so that was a nice touch. The only negative I can think of is the unisex toilets, as there were only 2 cubicles working and it wasn't the cleanest!

Decided on the roast of the day. Promptly delivered by the attentive staff. The food was very good apart from the yorkshire pudding which was over chewy. Perhaps been kept warm too long? But that was the only downside to the meal. Portion size was good.

This bistro was a excellent find for a group meal, the path to get to the restaurant was amazing crossing a stone bridge. The atmosphere leading to the restaurant was like a secret garden for sure.

Had lunch here today, we both had three tapas for £11 and it was all good ! Big portions, hot food, delicious salads and great service. Seeing the kingfisher was a bonus. No dogs inside today but plenty outside, I’m no dog lover but this is clearly a very dog friendly restaurant. A family with young children came in and were very well looked after. The loos were spotless!

Had dinner here the first night whilst staying at Beck Hall, and we were very impressed. The evening menu is not huge but the variety is good and I think most people would find something for them. I had the beef short ribs with sweet potato and feta which was divine, followed by the chocolate pot which was also delicious, though very rich! Not complaining though.

Beautiful location and lovely restaurant. I thought it would be stuffy as it's a hotel restaurant and a bit 'vain' as it's so good-looking but nothing of the sort. If you don't like dogs I'd give this place a wide berth. If you do, then it must be the best place to stay in Malham. I reckon there were more dogs than people! The food was hearty and reasonably priced and service was swift and friendly. The menu delighted us both so much that we had all three courses. My partner loved all three of his courses - mushroom starter, mushroom and spinach wellington and chocolate mousse. I started with cheese croquettes, had the same main and finished with the passion fruit cheesecake with blood orange sorbet. Loved the sorbet but the cheesecake was huge and didn't seduce me in the way I'd hoped. Not sure if it was the solid passion-fruit jelly on top or the fact that I've just become used to making cheesecakes with good quality mascarpone which is dense, rich and creamy with lots of vanilla notes. Anyway, all good and a fantastic last night treat!

We ate here while staying at Beck Hall. The food is excellent and the chef truly talented with flavour and style. The waiting staff were friendly polite and caring, nothing was too much trouble. The food is a little more costly than some places but for the quality and the locally sourced items it’s well worth it. With stream side views are amazing and the delicate lighting of the gardens gives a romantic feel to your evening meal. Perfect for a special occasion.

Stayed at The Lister Arms for a couple of nights mid week. We stayed in the Lister Barn which is a 2 minute walk from the actual pub. Cosy and warm, tastefully decorated with lovely toiletries - a real gem of a place. The main pub is really cosy, with a gorgeous fire burning all day and evening. Breakfast and dinner here were both really good with large portions. Lots of dogs inside the bar area too which was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

Fantastic place. Roll with bacon and sausage was lovely. Really good quality ingredients and perfectly cooked. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. I've been coming here on caving trips for 25 years and always either start or finish the day in Inglesport. Love it. The only thing I'd say... bring back the pints of tea!!! And please don't ever stop doing the tiffin, it is the best on the planet.

After driving around the Yorkshire Dale's, we were in need of a drink and snack. We came across this lovely little tearoom and we weren't disappointed, quirky and quaint I would say, very friendly, great value for money too.

On arrival the pub does not inspire confidence in the quality of food - but it was really very good. I was dubious about the sizes of sunday roasts after reading a previous review - and to be fair, the plates do not arrive loaded with masses of veg or mash. However, we all left feeling satisfied and it really felt like well prepared, high quality food. The steak and ale pie, and steak and ale yorkie had the same filling, which was superb.
