Very welcoming staff. Great place to refresh after 5 mile walk from Skipton along the canal

Good food, no extra roasties or yorkies as advertised a bit disappointed 😔

Food was ok, fairly standard stonegate pub food. Not a bad Sunday lunch but wouldn’t rush back. Don’t get excited about the “unlimited top ups of roasties, Yorkshire puds and gravy” cos they don’t do that apparently, despite it being clearly written on the menu…

Called in for lunch, so glad we did, the pub is beautiful and has smaller side rooms as well as the main dining room, food was unbelievable, it was so nice, thanks to the amazing chef Graham and Willow who was serving us was so nice and polite and did an excellent job, will definitely be back, my new favorite food pub x

A delicious evening meal. My companion had the lamb shank which was a good size but not too big. The meat was tender and fell off the bone. Though the shank could have been served on a different type of plate as the shallow dish made manoeuvring the shank awkward. I had the sausage and mash dish. This was very good. The red cabbage had the right quantity of vinaigre to make it tart without being acid, the potato was indeed creamy and the sausages well cooked and tasty. We were served by Willow who was helpful and friendly. Thank you Willow, great service.

Had a meal here recently while on a canal boat holiday. Service was great and my steak was perfect. The wife loved her Steak and Venison pie. Would return again in the future.

Beautiful pub with a country pub style feel . They have a great selection of beers and lagers and the food could not be tastier .

Just stayed overnight room not massive but everything you need clean and tidy evening meal was excellent

I had a very nice dinner there after a long walk from Ponden to Gargrave. The food is delicious, the staffs are super nice and kind, and the ambiance is amazing.

Lovely pub, friendly staff 2nd vist here this week. Food was excellent yet again thanks to Brian and Matty. Have reserved a table for tonight as well. Well done to all the staff for making our vist a pleasurable one.

Went in for a drink after reading reviews on here we sat down at an unreserved table looked on the menu and and decided to go and order 2 sunday roast meal when the waitress came to the table placed a reserved marker on the table and informed us just to let you know this table is reserved in 45 minutes so we drank up and left as we felt not our custom not worthy . Lovely bar staff and lovely pub

Dog friendly, apart from one room. Waitresses are very attentive and food is nice. Nice quiet village.

Catered well to my food intolerances, and all of our meals were very nice. Portion sizes were sensible, plenty for us after having a decent sized lunch earlier in the day, but if you were very hungry I'd suggest ordering a side (e.g. several potato side dishes on offer to satisfy hungry bellies!). Service was attentive and polite without being overbearing.

On our way to the lakes called in for a drink and something to eat warm welcome the staff were very good and the food was lovely

Stayed here for 3 nights as a base for walks in the Dales and didn't disappoint. Modern room with good facilities, choice of real ale on the bar, good menu and tasty food in the restaurant and friendly service from the staff (shout out for Matty, who was on hand whenever needed). Highly recommended.

What a lovely pub. Wandered in today and the dog could come to so even happier. Lovely greeting from the staff. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Varied menu. We will be going back as we are here for a week. It’s a random photo of one of the pub pictures. I like cycling!

Really enjoyed our meal here. Good value and nice food. Perhaps 4 stars is a smidge mean. The atmosphere in the dining area was nice, the bar was fine but didn't quite work for me, but that might just be me.

Looking for a dog friendly pub restaurant for us to enjoy Sunday lunch I phoned on the Saturday to book a table for four (plus dog) for 1pm. Unfortunately there was no answer so, as instructed, I booked via their online system. I added a note that we would require a dog friendly area of the restaurant & subsequently received a confirmation of the reservation by email. Sunday arrived. I checked my email at 11am to see a message from the pub stating they could no longer accommodate our dog (fair enough if they’ve no room), that they had saved our reservation & would I please let them know if we would still require the table. I replied straightaway explaining our holiday accommodation did not allow pets to be left unattended & advising that the table booking should be cancelled. At 1:20pm I then received a call asking why we hadn’t honoured our booking. I explained that i had replied to their email but the guy just kept saying they had kept our table & I should have let them know! Surely if a restaurant insists on using an online booking system then it should be checked regularly to ensure the booking can be honoured rather than cancelling just a couple of hours before the reservation. If they have a problem with the booking then they should also have the courtesy to phone the customer rather than email (it was lucky I checked my email or we would have had a wasted journey & been turned away at the door). Similarly, if they significantly change a booking by email & request a response then they should check their email to pick up the reply! We were left having to find an alternative venue for Sunday lunch at very short notice which was inconvenient. I was also less than happy at being accused of being a ‘no show’ - something which I would never do.

Fast service ,nice atmosphere , absolutely delicious food .deserts were to die for . Had venison pie was delicious and my partner had sausage and mash and loved it . From Scotland if I ever pass again definitely be giving it a second visit .

Great food friendly staff perfect location , couldn’t wish for better

Although the Old Swan Inn is nearly 40 miles away I think this could be my new favourite place to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 course meal with the steak and venison pie being outstanding. We were looked after by Charlotte who was polite and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Hats off to the kitchen staff and everybody else that made my husbands birthday a very memorable one. We will be back soon.

We a had a lovely couple of nights stay we used it as a base for exploring the Dales the rooms were spotless the food was excellent and all the staff were really friendly and helpful definitely stop again if we are in the area would highly recommend

Just had a well pint here after a lovely canal walk from Skipton to Gargrave.

Food was great. Ilkley Brewery Ale was delicious. Rooms were really well appointed and modern.

Stopped for lunch during a long trip. Lovely large enclosed beer garden, great for four-legged companions. Quality sausages!

Underwhelmed by the portion size and not great quality. Charging decent prices for below average food. Service was below average - had to ask to order, ask for the bill and ask again to pay. Looked a nice place inside and out, good decor. No check-back on food and weren't interested on feedback for the meal.

Great place to stop for some food and drinks en route between Yorkshire and Cumbria, especially in the warmer months when you can sit in the garden.

Good pub in the heart of Gargrave village. Fairly recently refurbished after a fire a couple of years ago. Good beer, not too pricey. Can't comment on the food. Very striking beer garden.

Nice place very friendly. We did have a small problem with the food. So why five stars? Well, they went out of the way to sort it for us. Which is all you ask. Great job.

Popped in today for the first time. Husband had lamb shank and I had a burger with Monteray Jack and bacon. Food was so delicious and filling. Nice rooms to eat in. Very pleasant atmosphere. Staff friendly. Really enjoyed our meal. Would go again.

Fabulous stay. What a find. Stayed overnight visiting family and ate in the bar. Delicious sunday roast. Breakfast was lovely too. Lovelt decorated room with comfy bed and great shower. Special shout out to the staff who were so pleasant and efficient. I would highly recommend The Old Swan and will defintely be returning. Thank you.

Nice food shame about the portion sizes. Beef Rib, tasty dish but was lacking another veg on the side, only got a small portion of well undercooked cabbage. 6oz steak, ordered extra portion of mushrooms. Was given 1 extra mushroom, that was considered an extra portion. Question it with waitress, she offered to bring more and brought another 2 mushrooms. £2.50 for 3 small mushrooms. Rhubarb and custard sundae had frozen sold fruit, and no custard as stated on the menu. Tasty food but don't expect to leave feeling stuffed.

Very nice pub, we tried sunday roast and it was delicious and perfect. Also very satisfied that they were serving food late on sunday afternoon. We were starving, and this place saved us. It has a nice vibe and many different rooms for crowds. The staff are so polite and helpful. Loved this place

Clearly lots of money has been invested and the rooms are lovely, but please, turn the heating on in the rooms, it was absolutely freezing when we arrived. Also, some noise deadening on the 'private' door on the first floor would avoid repeated banging for those in adjacent rooms. Minor things, and we will be back.

My husband and I walked along the canal and stopped off for Sunday lunch here. It was SOOOO good and I loved how you can get extra Yorkshire puddings, gravy and roast potatoes included in the price. I ordered extra gravy and roast potatoes as I'd worked up an appetite. The pub is split into cosy rooms so you can chose the room that suits your party, the staff are very attentive, the food tastes great and it's just well looked after pub. I can't wait for our next visit as it's a real gem of a pub!

Had the roast beef dinner, 2 slices of pre packed beef,spoon full of mash,half a carrot,half a parsnip, 1 yorkshire pudding, 2 small roast spuds, no peas, small bowl of anaemic Brussels 🤷‍♂️, £38 for 2 dinners and 2 drinks,, when this pub first opened the food was top notch, now I'm afraid its not up to standard especially for the prices being charged!!!,

Really nice traditional public house offering a good variety of drinks and lovely home cooking plus service with a smile. Highly recommended a visit.

Popped in for lunch whilst shopping in Gargrave, we were not disappointed. The food was excellent with a great choice to suit everyone and their tastes. I definitely recommend a visit if in the area , the bar also has a good selection of drinks and the coffee is not bad either. We will be back in the future Well done to the staff for being so welcoming.

Solid pub in a small village specialising on Sunday Roast and beef. Very good kitchen, very reasonable prices, very friendly and helpful service. Also have a children’s menu. Free parking behind the restaurant.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The room was okay. The food on the evening was lovely. But the Breakfast wasn't brilliant. The staff were lovely. Last orders was a bit early though.

It's a bit tired and run down also got pestered outside in beer garden by a local drunk

Had a wonderful walk along the canal from Skipton to Gargrave that should always end in a pub lunch and there is no where better than The Old Swan in Gargrave I had an amazing steak sandwich, cooked by Brian the chef that has to be one of the best steak sandwiches I have ever had. Thank you all, for making the pup and I feel very welcome.

Stayed at the Old Swan last night, room and bathroom absolutely immaculate, had everything you could need from tea and coffee machine to hairdryer and ironing board, are in the restaurant at night and the food was excellent not to mention the service, Romy and Jess you were superstars, would definitely recommend and would definitely come back.

What a lovely stay. Gorgeous old pub in a lovely part of Yorkshire, great base for exploring dales. Rooms looked as if they've just been refurbished they were beautiful. Manager and staff were really helpful and friendly. Ate in the restaurant and food was really good. Good gluten free options and knowledge of cross contamination. A really lovely place, can't wait to return.

Had the meal deal which was breakfast and dinner on 2 days. All the food was lovely, served hot. The staff were friendly but understaffing meant we did wait to be served.

Jess P couldn’t have done enough for us. This is clearly a locals pub but was recommended by Coniston Cold Hotel. The drinks and the food were second to none. Great value for money as well. Toilets were very clean but the odour let it down This would not put us off from visiting again Thanks Jess P, you’re a gem

Rude staff, came in on sunday with 3 dogs, bartender clearly saw we had dogs and continued to pour our drinks before telling us there was no where to sit with the dogs unless we sat outside as “they have been full all day” and “someone has just taken the last table”, rude, condesending and patronising, then left us to sit outside in the freezing cold and told us there were no heaters even though there was clearly one in the shed we were shoved across to.. not welcoming at all and did not even attempt to accomodate us, people were in the only dog friendly part of the pub without dogs and could of easily been asked to shuffle around to gain the extra custom.

We called in at short notice on our way back from Malham and the roast dinner was very good. Hand Carved Turkey and all the trimmings. Good portion size and home made Yorkshire Pudding. The service from the two young waitresses was also very good - will definitely call in again as the wider menu also looked great

Just had a quick lunch here today. First time, but we will be back. The two people looking after us (Emma and Reuben but I may have misheard?) were great… the food was to die for. Great quality and good portions at a very reasonable price. The place was lovely and warm, comfortable, clean, tastefully decorated and a great pint of well-kept ale! The only thing I’d moan about is….. nowt!

We were a party of 4 who went for the festive dinner on Saturday 23rd. Every aspect of our visit was excellent! The quality of the food and portion size was ad good as it could get. The staff were extremely attentive. Thanks to everyone at the Swan!

We booked for a family get together Saturday lunchtime. The pub was quiet but there was only one member of staff running the bar and serving food. The food we had was excellent but the service was lacking no steak knives brought and nobody checked if everything was OK, the plates were still on the table 1 hr after we finished. We didn't stay and have anymore drinks as it was freezing. The other couple of tables people were sat in coats. This pub I would still recommend as the food is excellent they just need to improve the service.

Been here tonight for dinner was our first time. Had the turkey roast dinner,was good,but plate not big enough,needed more gravy & mash spud,york pud was too big for me! Staff a bit slow,too busy talking among themselves & not bringing what you asked for. Loved the pub,very cosy.

Worse place i have ever been to, service really slow, took offers off when we got there, said it was a blanket ban, even though we booked at the beginning of the week because of offers, they talk to customers about what you order and judge you, about asking for extra roast potatoes, and veg even though it says please ask for more on the menu, made us feel very unwelcome, waited over an hour for our Sunday lunch, we wanted a pudding but were made to feel as though it was a effort to give us one so we never ordered one, will never go again terrible all round, if you want to be judged on what you order, and are willing to wait for over an hour for food, then this is a place for you, we went out as a family for a birthday, we were so disappointed we give you 1 star terrible

Myself, partner and father came here and had a lovely dinner, everything was delicious! Great sized portions and reasonably priced. Better than the usual pub grub you'd expect and excellent desserts enjoyed by all! The atmosphere is welcoming and cosy, the staff are attentive and it's definetly the place to eat if you ever find yourself in Gargrave.

Sunday lunches can be a lottery but at the Old Swan in Gargrave, Yorkshire you have a winner. Great pub, great atmosphere, great service and, most of all, a great Sunday Lunch. Thank you.

Just spent the weekend in Gargrave, We had booked in the Old Swan before arriving, and we glad we did, Julie and her team run a fantastic pub, the Sunday lunch was fantastic, there was a goog choice of good beers, we even had to pop back in a couple of times to check! Julie even gave us great advice on other places to eat in the village, The Old Swan is must place to visit when in Gargrave. We will be back

Nice food, but the friendly and welcoming service was a standout

Stayed in one of the rooms for one night - whoever designed the rooms nailed it, everything you want for an overnight stay. Too many others fail to meet The Old Swan’s standards.

Visited for lunch today. During the meal, we were asked if the food was OK and said it was. But it was only OK- not a patch on the Masons Arms, where we ate yesterday. My rib eye steak had been over salted and was not particularly tender. Maybe we were unlucky, but it wasn't nearly as busy as the Masons!

We had a pleasant three night stay...Great staff ...excellent room...Food was great..warm friendly atmosphere through out our stay .

I had a very nice lunch time meal of Mahkani curry and all the trimmings, delicious and i would recommend. My husband on the other hand had a less than basic sausage and mash, sausages were tasteless and the mash was enough for a 5 year old. The onion rings that were bizarrely served with it were the best bit by far.

Good place to stop for a pint but the dining experience is an identity crisis carried out by poor staff

Had the Korean chicken burger and it was excellent. Most reasonable priced place locally with the quality of food! Car park, service was quick and staff was friendly. Highly recommend.

We didn't eat there this time but that will be something we will do next time we visit .
