We've visited many times and chosen from the breakfast menu which has always been first class. However today I decided to choose a punjabi lunch special which was brown lentil Dahl yogurt, salad and freshly made chapati, oh my word it was first class. Well worth the 36 mile round trip. The owner & waitress are lovely, so friendly and helpful and seem very genuine that you enjoy your visit. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed

This small cafe has been 're named the Country Kitchen. It was preview covid since we had last been and it was fine. It's a pleasant venue, and all the food we saw was just fine. We had a small individual pot of tea each and a toasted teacake...Again, fine, although there individual pots were small, just one cup. The shock was the bill, almost £14.00.... £4,25 each for the toasted teacake!!....Well, we know times are hard and prices gone up, but this is just extortionate in our view...Sorry, will not be back...Bought a large toasted teacake recently at a craft bakery cafe recently for £2.80....No justification for such rip off prices

Popped into the Kitchen Garden on way out elsewhere for a quick spot of very late lunch. What a lovely surprise. The place has been beautifully renovated with calm, serene and calming colours with little fairy lights. (Outside aswell as the inside). All the ladies working there were just the loveliest and whilst we opted for the paninis, there was a choice of specials available. Coffee is coffee care, one of my favourites and it was just a really nice place to be. Definitely be back, I feel it will be a favourite stop off over the summer!

Managed to fit 6 of us in (plus a dog) without booking and very last minute. They were still so friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious and can only be described as generous portions, 'lovingly prepared' with thought. Proper ham and cheese panini with crisp, salad and coleslaw - delicious! Even had dog treats for Willow ❤🐶

My wife and I met up with a friend yesterday at The Pantry as it was a mid-way point. Full Corvid precautions in place, hand gel outside, staff wearing masks, we were asked to wait before entering while table cleaned etc. Ample parking outside but there is also a large car park just round the corner, and dog friendly. It`s a nice little place with only about six tables inside, but outside seating at the front and in the secret garden at the back. Toilets very clean, always judge a place on the toilets! A very good choice of menu ranging from all day breakfast, hot food selection, sandwiches, etc, and a fine selection of home made cakes, all very reasonably priced. Two of us chose the corned beef hash with pastry, hot and an ample portion, while I had bacon, emmental and cranberry panini which was spot on, all with a proper cup of tea. Delivery of the food was quite slow, by no means a critisism, as it takes time to make up fresh food rather than two minutes in the microwave. Service by the two ladies was very pleasant, they even went along with my sense of humour! Too full for a nice cake and no need for a full meal later when we got home. Overall, a very pleasant experience, super food and great service, we shall meet up there again.

Having read a couple of dated reviews about the Pantry in West Marton I thought it was only fair to make a couple of points. As I mentioned in a previous review 2 years ago, the cafe is now under new management, and our first experience with the new team was amazing. We have since put the Pantry onto our culinary map, and visit whenever we can. I've recently discovered their gammon, which is just stunning. Delicious, tender, cooked to perfection - it really is amazing. Now I've spotted a couple of reviews that were written while the cafe was under previous management, and they bear no relation to what we find today. The staff are absolutely lovely - attentive, cheerful, bright - it's an absolute pleasure to eat there. OCCASIONALLY we've had to wait a little while, but that's because everything is cooked fresh, not re-heated in a microwave - and the wait has ALWAYS been worthwhile. Special recommendation? Try the baking (as well as the gammon of course!!) it's utterly delicious!

We stopped here whilst travelling to Harrogate and it proved a good idea. We just had a bacon barm and a bacon and egg barm, with tea and coffee. Everything was well cooked - to order - and the tea was piping hot. The bacon was particularly good, being proper thick slices rather than the skinny stuff that dries up when cooked. A good little spot and handy to know.

We stumbled across the Pantry Cafe when we were trying to head back down south but all the roads we wanted to take were closed! What a chance finding. The atmosphere in there was so very welcoming - and we were the only people in at that time in the morning! There were 5 of us - 2 adults and 3 children. The waitress (whose name I didn't catch) was so attentive, friendly, brilliant with the children, kind and really really helpful. The menu was not too big that we didn't know what to have but still had plenty of choice. The tea was perfect, the hot chocolate entirely decadent and the breakfasts were sublime - cooked by Emma. The fire was roaring, the venue was super clean, the parking could not have been easier. The children said it was the best cafe serving the best breakfast ever! Sadly we live about 300 miles away otherwise we would be frequent visitors!

We had noticed reviews for this place on TA when we were looking to visit a nearby garden centre and noticed quite a few cars on the car park when we passed - usually a good sign. The place seemed cosy and charming and had a summerhouse feel. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and there were some tempting things on the menu at very reasonable prices. There wasn't a lot of choice for my vegetarian husband but he chose the panino with Feta cheese. I ordered the all day breakfast. There was no problem with the wait to receive it as the food is made fresh to order. My husband said his panino was very good but as the very attentive waitress brought my breakfast out, she almost dropped the sauce she was also bringing and, grabbed at the plate. The contents all slid to one side and the beans slithered over the side. She didn't seem to notice as I shoved them all back over the edge and everywhere was then rather 'sticky' but it all looked substantial and well cooked UNTIL I SPOTTED THE EGGS - totally RAW in places. My husband said "You're not going too eat those are you?" Absolutely not and I left them both on the plate. I also saw some alien things sticking to the bottom of my toast. It looked like cooked egg white so I tried a bit. In fact it was very strong tasting cheese. Luckily I hadn't put any jam which the girl had brought for my bread!. The waitress didn't seem to notice, took our money and we left. My husband pointed out lumps of cheese sticking to the toast wasn't a good sign for cross contamination in the kitchen! Disappointing! Very disappointing!

Having spent the morning removing a tumble drier and putting in a replacement, and several trips to the recycling centre I needed chip - only chips would do. I couldn't park close to home, so decided to take a ride out to the next village, West Marton. I'd been to the Pantry cafe several years ago, and wasn't impressed at all, but I thought I would give it another try. I'm SO glad I did. because it's been under new management since the beginning of the year. ALL their food is locally sourced, freshly cooked and utterly delicious! I opted for a sausage sandwich with a portion of chips and a cuppa, while she who would like to be obeyed had a chicken sandwich and apple juice. I judge sausages (and pies) and I have to say they were excellent, as was the bread roll that surrounded them! My wife's sandwich must have had half a chicken in between the slices, which was bread from a local baker that we both recognised immediately! For me though, although I loved my sausage butty, the "piece de resistance" was quite definitely the bowl of chips. Hand-cut, cooked to perfection, and NOT those huge chunky chips that usually end up solid and under-cooked in the middle. It was a generous portion too, but they didn't last more than a couple of minutes. It was all served with a generous-sized pot of tea - I managed to squeeze two and a half cups out of it. What a lovely experience, with really friendly, helpful and pleasant staff. This is now permanently on our foodie map!

This place has been our little treat when feeling we needed a "pick me up" - always been shabby but food delicious and owner chatty and good at customer service, however, we found this time that it is under new management, and whilst the new owner was I understand previously the weekday cook we have only ever been on a weekend so never really tasted her food. Hubby chose full breakfast as normal, I got a bacon butty but he was not really impressed, whilst there was nothing technically too wrong with his breakfast as such, the beans were cold, the plate was swimming in grease (looked like it had come from the fried eggs) and the plate just did not seem to be as appetising. (She did reduce the price by 50p to make up for the faults! but we would have rather had a good breakfast than a cheaper one!) The very strong mugs of coffee we used to enjoy were no longer, replaced by weak, small teacups of watery coffee (not sure if they do mugs but we were never offered an upgrade to a mug), we need strong coffee with our breakfast!. There was none of the chatter and friendliness of previous visits, in fact the chatter we got was from another customer who we suspect was the father of the owner and who was not very impressed with the old owner from what he said, don't get me wrong I would go again, it just won't be that special little treat place in the future it will be if there is nowhere else we will go there.

Some people might be put off by the appearance but to us it had all the charm of the traditional roadside cafes that are very frequently at the roadside in New Zealand. It is "rustic" I think is the word for it, tables inside and out, but a real home from home, crackling open fire, owner has dogs and allows dogs in here so beware, although he tends to put the dogs away when people come in who either he doesn't know or not sure they like dogs - we have seen customers in with their dogs also, which does not bother us one little bit, after all our own dogs are with us when we eat at home (not here though, they (our dogs) aren't very social!), We have been once or twice recently, always for the home cooked breakfasts, cooked fresh with a lovely plateful of food and really nice bread to go with it (not the normal supermarket sliced!). Owner is lovely and he is really talkative if that is how you like it, but leaves you alone if you don't. Definitely worth a visit and as I said I would totally recommend the breakfasts, or the breakfast butties, bacon, egg, sausage etc. And, and a big plus for us, he does lovely really strong coffee - and we like it strong with our breakfast - a really good wake up call.
