We have recently stayed at the Masons for a few nights for our anniversary and we have nothing but good things to say about the place 🙂 The rooms are well presented and super cosy with stunning views😍 We ate there most nights & the food 🤤 absolutely delicious, full of flavour and beautifully presented on the plate. (The Sunday Roasts are delicious, that good I forgot to take a photo of it🤤) The staff were exceptional, very kind and welcoming and always full of smiles ☺️ Especially the barman Simon who never failed to make us laugh, made us feel welcome and always served us with a smile on his face!🙂 The managers Dave & Louise are amazing cooks and generous hosts who always go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. 110% would recommend to friends and family & will definitely be staying again!🩷 (P.S. We hope chicken Kevin is doing well 😉🤣xx)

Excellent friendly service with suburb food. We have been here for two nights. The food is homemade and superb. The staff are so friendly and are extremely dog friendly lol. There was karaoke tonight and it was awesome. I cannot recommend this place enough for its hospitality, friendliness, genuine regard for customers from our own experience and what we saw of others, and we would strongly recommend booking as we can see this place being rebooked for its food, service and outstanding hospitality

A very pleasant meal although a little cold inside the pub. Ordered roast beef but was told the cauliflower cheese was sold out at 14.30. I asked if it was possible to have some made I was told there would be a 15 minute wait which was not a problem but felt I shouldn’t have had to ask, if it could be made then why wasn’t it available? On the whole a nice meal but a little disappointed.

Broke down in the car outside this pub just over a week ago! These guys turned an extremely awful experience into a a fun start to our UK break! Not only did they help me get the car to a safe place they took us in, helped us with onward transport, fed our dog for us and kept us warm and comfortable until our transport arrived! The beer is excellent and the owners and staff could not be more helpful! Really wish we had stayed the night with them! Their attention to customer service is unbelievable! I thought places like this were lost to history but I’m delighted to say hospitality still exists in this country and it’s in this pub!

Chose this pub by chance for a family get together on a saturday lunchtime, as we all live in opposite directions. It was a superb find. Pub is spotless with good decor and a friendly feel about the place. Food was excellent and all steaks cooked to perfection, to say we had a variety off the menu, all the meals came out quickly. Staff we very good and we couldn't have asked for better service from them. Definately be choosing this place again very soon

I called ahead at lunchtime to book a table for this evening. Upon arrival the young lass who took my call welcomed me by name & showed me to my table, as requested she’d put me in a quiet corner. I had the very nice fish pie followed by a delicious vanilla cheesecake & ice cream. Despite being away from the busiest part of the pub, by choice, I did not feel forgotten about and really appreciate how comfortable I was made to feel by the 2 young ladies looking after my table. Thankyou for making a solo dining experience enjoyable and not awkward, I wasn’t rushed nor made to feel any the less valued as a customer (as can often be the experience when dining alone).

Been here a few times but we will avoid it now. Food was less than corner cafe standard, poorly presented and discoloured to the point of being suspect. The waiter interrupted us several times with unwelcome messages from the kitchen and from the manager. No one cared and the excuses were unprofessional, unnecessary and rude. Don’t go here. August 2024: Because the manager’s belated response contains inaccuracies I ned to add: 1: At no point did I inform the staff that I would not pay. 2: The staff were not rude, the interruptions and relayed messages were. 3: I now understand from the manager’s own comments, that those interruptions were because the waiter was being sent to our table by the manager. Any self respecting manager who cared would have had the decency to come out himself. I will not respond. Again, don’t go there.

I need to know what they were covered with as they tasted amazing. The room was nice with good facilities. The only problem we had was it was a single pillow but was massive I think it would be better to have two small pillows each. I am sure though if I had brought it to the attention of the staff they would’ve changed the pillow but it was too late at night. It is on a main road but double glazing worked a treat. It’s a short distance to the waterfalls and the village town centre. I Highly recommend you stay over

Not impressed..... Sadly Not busy at all hence you would not think there would be cooking problems. The waitress was lovely , she couldn't have been more helpful explaining 5* on service. The food however needs improving greatly! I asked for a simple steak and chips... It arrived cold! So asked the very helpful waitress to sort.. she did so and returned my dish. On eating the steak it was so chewy I could not eat most of it! Nevertheless a lovely waiter collected dishes and asked how was everything and politely we told him... He said he'd let the chef know! Not a problem for me as I think he should know what is being served and I wasn't asking for discount or anything extra just letting them know for future reference. As we were leaving we promptly paid and was off on our way but my husband could hear the chef complaining about what I chose and said basically I should have chosen the more expensive steak! I just don't understand this reaction at all! It's not Ramsay TV but please just accept when things do go wrong just address it in a positive way as the whole world could hear a grumpy chef was at work! You were recommended, we have now found out the pub has changed hands a few times since.... It's sad to have voiced this but this was all unnecessary..... Is it the same chef maybe? The waitress and waiter are full stars and would recommend you get a job where people respect you ...

Visited for Sunday dinner (evening). Staff: The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Atmosphere: Fabulous music being played, not too loud, just right. Drinks: Good selection of ales. Food: We opted for the Sunday roast, pork and beef. The beef was cooked well and there was plenty of veg to go with the meal. However the pork was a bit dry, which may have been due to the fact we were eating later in the day, so it was a bit of a let down. However the rest of the food was very good.

Asked if they could feed 2 people and we were told “we have a table of 7 arriving in 9 minutes so we are a bit busy”. Less than accommodating to be honest, and not even on a busy day of the week and no table reservation signs could be seen. Maybe the bar man didn’t like the look of 2 normal people asking politely to pay for some food and wine. We walked further into Ingleton and got a fantastic and accommodating reception.

Unfortunately, and unusually, we had a bad experience with friends here last night. Having previously visited Mason’s several times in the past, we were excited to bring our friends here for some good hearty food after our long walk; we were left sorely disappointed when our Sunday roast took over an hour to arrive after ordering, and upon arrival the potatoes were still cold and solid in the middle, the wedge of carrot and parsnip rock hard, and the Yorkshire puddings still gooey. Having seen previous reviews, I am extremely jealous of the Sunday dinner other’s have had in comparison to the one I was served. My partners burger arrived looking sordidly grey and sandwiched between what could only be described as two Warburton thins, and the advertised “home made relish” was actually just a deceptive serving of the side salad tucked underneath the top piece of bread. The pork in one of the two Sunday dinners we ordered was cooked within an inch of its life and was inedible, and my friends fish and chips were served pale and in semi-cooked batter. The staff were apologetic for the delay in serving our food, however were very clearly busy with setting up for the karaoke event they were hosting that Sunday afternoon. Upon closer inspection, we suspected the chap hosting the karaoke might have also been the chap cooking our dinner and was trying to do two things at once. The music playlist prior to this turn of events was 10/10 and could not be faulted, and made for an enjoyable atmosphere. However this was short lived as we were approached by a rather confused local trying to show us pictures of his German knife. The staff that work here are very pleasant and welcoming, and as mentioned at the beginning this was an unusual experience in comparison to previous visits; however, this is not the only case of a bad occurrence here recently as other family members have also had a similar problem and wonder if it has possibly changed hands.

Do not waste your time or money! Just visited for a drink and quick mid afternoon snack. Too late for lunch but too early for evening meal. Ordered and paid for drinks at the bar and asked for a menu. Wasn't told anything was off the menu. Whole page of Sandwich options which appealed and suited what we wanted. Approached the bar to order to be told "all sandwiches are off the menu" Went back to the table disappointed and had another look. We decided upon a starter of Halloumi Fries and I would just have a kids burger meal. Ordered again at the bar no problem. 30 minutes later I approached the bar to ask where our meals were...only 4 other tables in the pub. I was told its being made now. A few minutes later the wrong order arrived. I was less than impressed; my wife's diabetic and needed to eat. A half hearted apology and suggestion that that was in fact what I ordered. When I stated what i actually ordered, I was told that that wasn't in stock. We decided to cancel that meal, ate the one and left. Unfortunately never to return. We are staying in the area and could have been back tomorrow for Sunday Lunch. Think we will give it a wide birth.

Visited for Sunday Lunch as previous experience was good however was extremely disappointed. After waiting 50 minutes for food it arrived barely warm. The cauliflower cheese which I paid extra for was in a bowl of what I can only describe as white water the cauliflower itself was small loose florets so either old or frozen. The glazed carrots were soaked in sweetness not glazed absolutely awful. The roast potatoes- well I'm not really sure how to describe them possibly been cooked the day before and warmed up. I did tell the young girl when she came to ask how the food was. After finishing I paid the full bill and left I was so over the experience. I do not recommend this dinner at £16 with an extra £4 for cauliflower.

Last visited 2 years ago, boy oh boy what a difference, booked well in advance and 5 of us were looking forward to a Sunday roast. On arrival told only option was lamb, not lamb roast though as lamb was lifted from another dish and served with some cabbage and a Yorkshire pudding. Two of our party don’t eat lamb so they left to eat elsewhere, I wish we had joined them. To be fair the lamb and mash were ok gravy was quite nice, “roast potatoes “ were disgusting so went back to the “chef”, we were asked what was wrong with them and they were hard and tasted so bland only to be told they were cooked fresh and not frozen! , service was slow which was hard to fathom as there were plenty of empty tables, we can see why now. I understand that sometimes food sells out, but they don’t do walk ins so no excuses for pre booked tables, shocking, it’s bad when you can’t get a Sunday roast in Yorkshire.

After a walk around the falls we headed here for a pub meal. Absolutely beautiful food. The most random lasagne I've had had which turned into the best. It will be well worth the 2 & half hr drive for the food again. Friendly staff. Lovely place.

Stayed here on an overnight exploring Yorkshire Dales. On arrival announced ourselves as no-one at bar we were greeted with "we are here...just wait". Taken to room up a very tight staircase, advised we could use the fridge outside the room & then left to it without a key for the room. Room lovely & bed comfy, fan provided great as it was warm. I love traffic noise but for anyone who doesn't...this place is on a MAJOR main road with trucks passing at all hours. We put water we had bought in the fridge & discovered the following morning it had been stolen! Advised the male host on departure & he didn't seem bothered. Nice place but customer service & security lacking

Popped in for a drink to find an order for 2 drinks was near £18!! When we looked at the bill we saw the coke in the vodka and coke was £3. I wasn’t made aware the pump for a dash of coke wasn’t working or the price difference! Would have ordered something else if made fully aware!!

Second time visiting since the pub last changed hands, and again happy to say we enjoyed our visit. We'd booked our table online and noted that we'd have a dog with us. On arriving, it was busy around the bar but we quickly found the reservation marker on our table and settled down, before being greeted and our drinks order taken. Nice to see Beavertown Neck Oil on draught, as that's always a favourite. We both ordered the Yorkshire pudding dippers to start, followed by inside out chicken kiev and steak fajitas from the specials board. All food was tasty and fresh, we'll definitely be back next time we visit the area. Sorry to see a few tables reserved that no-one turned up for. A few small groups turned up and left after all tables were reserved, and we realised some reservations were still down over an hour after the reservation time, so there would have been space for those groups had the reservations been monitored. Hope this is sorted soon as we want the pub to do well!

Took well over an hour to get our meals. Sounded like a right commotion from the kitchen. Food was very good. Excellent Ropemaker ale.

We had spent the day travelling in the rain and pitched up at a little farm campsite for which this was the nearest pub. Being Sunday we had hoped for a tasty roast dinner, but on arrival we were told that there were no tables available inside and no Sunday roasts left. We were offered a table in the drafty conservatory and given a reduced menu from which to choose. Because we were cold and hungry we sat down and had a drink whilst waiting for an inside table to become available. Eventually we were offered a table inside and we ordered and received our meal. There was nothing to dislike about the food, it was very standard pub grub. The best bit was that it was dog friendly, so our damp poodle was also welcome, thanks.

I came in and had a drink but my main reason for writing a review is to review the toilets, they are some of the best pub toilets I have ever seen, clean and well kept I enjoyed the separate cubicles and the sink had good water pressure. The stall had a baby changing area and a bin aswell! The lighting was just right and they did smell quite good. The decor and interior design of these toilets has been well thought out overall I would say a solid 8/10 for toilets as there are a few scratches on the door and the carpet looks a little old but this is to be expected.

We are regular visitors to The Masons when we are visiting Stackstead Farm and staying with our school friends in one of their pods. Although it has changed hands since our last visit, the food is still very good and is still very popular with locals and visitors alike. It is nice they are dog friendly as we walk to the pub from the Caravan site, only about half a mile, and are always warmly welcomed.

Ate here twice this week, once for an evening meal which was great and then on Sunday for a traditional Sunday lunch. The Sunday lunch was outstanding. I had beef, tender and huge serving, plus cauliflower cheese, Brocoli gratin and of course all the usual accompliments . Excellent friendly service, delicious deserts in nice surroundings. Would definitely recommend. Thanks.
