Booked in to this picture book setting pub (forgot to take pictures outside!) for a meal on Bank Holiday. Menu is typical "pub with restaurant" fare with some nice twists (Chicken Wings in Miso and Hoi Sin was a welcome change from BBQ or Sweet Chilli) All three main course meals were excellent, the pie in particular was filled to bursting and as hot as if it had been served from oven to fork. Unfortunately the desserts didn't quite match up to the first two courses - just a bit bland and my Wife's Chocolate Souffle was mostly oozing all over the plate when served. Overall, will definitely return - But someone needs to tell the young, tall waiter who was serving the tables to stop cracking his knuckles ! Every table he served or interacted with, you could hear and see him doing it.

We stayed elsewhere in Grassington but when we discovered this fabulous inn we just kept returning!! The location is picture postcard perfect, the ambience superb and the nooks & crannies fascinating. Play Ringing the Bull in one tiny room (where we chatted to locals & holiday makers alike) to the tiny bar where the locals drink, to the fabulous dining room & tasty English fare! Beware - make reservations for dinner otherwise you could miss out! The manager & his wife are delightful but the true star is the location. If village life is what you want to see then you can do no better. We shall definitely return!!

Always a great experience, but yesterday was exceptional. We arrived way too early and could fully understand us having a lengthy wait, given that they had a large party of diners. This would put extra pressure on the kitchen and waiting staff. Despite this we were shown to our table and offered the menu's ( we were even offered a quieter table). Food was excellent, service spot on. This was my husbands first 'dine out' since his recent emergency heart surgery 3 weeks ago, so it was a much needed break for both of us. We alternate with their sister establishment, The Tempest. They are run like privately owned hostelries and far outstrip their competition. Highly recommend The Fountaine

Service was a little slow once we had eaten our mains. We had to ask for dessert menu as it was not offered and then I had to find a member of staff to order our dessert. We were not offered another drink after our first, even though we had all finished during our main course. We would have ordered another had we been asked early but once we had finished our mains and were waiting for dessert menu, we saw no point and just wanted to finish and go. The food was very average. My wife had Steak and ale pie, she said the pie was good but the sides not so good, she just left them as they were tasteless. My mum had the roast beef dinner, her feedback was similar, the beef was ok, if anything a little overcooked but the sides were not good. My daughter had the cheeseburger which she enjoyed. I had the Chicken burger with loaded fries. The fries were good but the burger I thought was a bit mediocre. We visit a lot of the old Individual inns and since the Robinsons takeover, we have been very disappointed. The only one that seems to be worth going to now is the Tempest Arms. The Spread Eagle at Sawley was my regular, not just for food but mainly for an after work pint most days as I pass on my way home. I don't really go in there any more as it seems to have lost its way a little since Greig and Natalie left, I've hear poor comments about the food there also. The Craven Heifer in Kelbrook was another favorite but again, we didn't enjoy our last experience there either. We used to love the Fountaines Inn and have eaten there and also stayed over a lot over the years but we won't be rushing back anytime soon. Its a shame as my wife and I used to stop over regularly as it was where we had our minimoon after our wedding ten years ago this time. Hopefully Robinsons turn them around and get these pubs back to how they used to be when Individual Inns ran them.

Called in for a drink and found the Fountaine Inn to have a friendly atmosphere and warm welcome. It was Sunday afternoon so very busy but we managed to find a table. The pub is dog friendly. There was a wide and varied choice of drinks, including their own Fountaine ale, which was lovely and my huband also enjoyed the bitter - both beers were well kept. Service was quick and the bar man polite. The toilets were clean. The prices were reasonable for the area. We didn't have food as we already had plans but it smelt lovely. We had a look at the menu, the choices were good and the prices competitive, so we have decided we'll be back soon for Sunday lunch as it is only half an hour from home. Parking was a little difficult because there is no designated car park and the pub was busy, but we eventually managed to find a space across the village green so it wasn't a problem.

I'm changing a previous review down from 5 to 3 stars after a disappointing meal. Previously meals were well cooked throughout, but unfortunately on this occasion sunday roasts were served with bland undercooked veg, generally lacked seasoning, and took over an hour to arrive. The vegan roast was cauliflower which was served with a side of steamed cauliflower, lacked flavour and was essentially a plate of plain mixed veg, sadly the vegan gravy was tasteless added nothing to the dish. Roast carrots were severely underdone and lacked flavour, but meat, potatoes and red cabbage were fine. Fortunately the staff apologized and offered 50% off. Previous visits were much better so on the fence about returning for another meal.

We recently had the pleasure of staying overnight at The Fountaine Inn in Linton-in-Craven, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. We stayed in one of their dog-friendly rooms, which was beautifully appointed, clean, and incredibly comfortable—perfect for a relaxing getaway. The evening meal was exceptional. I enjoyed the belly pork, which was cooked to perfection, while my wife savoured the braised beef, which she said was melt-in-the-mouth delicious. The food was hearty, full of flavour, and clearly made with care. To top it off, I enjoyed a couple of pints of their excellent Hetton Pale Ale, which was a real treat. After a peaceful night’s sleep, we were treated to a fantastic breakfast in the morning—just what we needed to set us up for the day. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us and our four-legged companion feel incredibly welcome. It’s rare to find a place that combines such wonderful food, great beer, comfortable accommodation, and genuine hospitality all in one. Danny from Leeds

Found this little gem when we'd had a last minute trek through Grassington for those last Christmas gifts. What is obviously a hot spot for locals accommodated us with a last minute table for two when we were looking for our Sunday Dinner. Whilst the main menu looked very inviting, we opted for a choice from their Festive Fayre. I had the prawn cocktail starter, which was excellent value and hearty helping of garlic mushrooms and toast for the lady in my life. Being Christmas, we both opted for the Turkey dinner which was accompanied by a portion of cauliflower cheese. As you'd expect, dinner came with roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots and the booziest red cabbage I think I've ever had. Staff were exceptional and catered to our every need, polite, freindly and keen to help. We'll definitely keep this on the radar for the next time we're in the area and I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't fancy the standard fayre of Grassingtons eateries.

Lovely room - we stayed in Barn Door - very comfortable, clean, big comfy bed, underfloor heating, coffee maker and fresh milk. Lots of lovely extras that exceeded my expectations for the cost of the room. Beautiful little hamlet and only a short walk from Grassington. Super cosy bar, great beer and a real fire. We had an excellent evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast next morning was equally good. The overall experience was all we could have wished for on our mini break in the Yorkshire Dales. As well as getting all the little details right that make for a stay memorable, what is clear is that the staff are really invested in the Inn and really want to make their guests' experience the best possible! Had Sunday lunch here 10th November. Location and ambiance is lovely however parking can be very difficult. Unfortunately the food was awful. The beef was tuff and the chicken was so dry it was really inedible and had to be left. I did comment when plates collected and was told the chef would be told but nothing came of it or offered any recompense. Also served by a young lad who should never have been on duty as he had lost his voice and was full of cold. Bar staff were very welcoming however when returning later in the afternoon for a cup of coffee and pot of tea there was a shortage of seating in the bar area and told be weren't allowed to sit in the eating area as that was reserved for eating even although it was empty at 17.00. We stayed for two nights in the dog friendly room behind the pub. The room was lovely, clean with a huge bed. There was plenty of room for the dogs bed to. We ate in the pub on both nights and thought it was good. We had fish and chips on the Wednesday - it’s the special. As it was only £9.95 we expected a small meal but the fish was huge and beautifully cooked with lovely light batter. We expected it to be full price but it was the advertised £9.95 very impressed. The bar serves real ale and the beer is well kept so my other half said. There is an issue with parking as the space is limited and the pub is popular with locals and visitors alike but we managed to park. We plan to stay again, if we do we will take a torch as the path from the room to the front of pub is dark, we’d also check how to lower temp in room as it was a little warm for us we should have asked while we were there! It’s a lovely local pub in a great location with good accommodation and excellent food & beer.

The Inn has an idyllic location, so idyllic parking is an issue. There is no dedicated customer car park. There is simply not the space. The minor road leading to the inn is severely congested. The interior of the inn is small with limited seating. We found the restaurant unattractive. However the staff were friendly and helpful. My wife and I found issues with the accommodation, The Studio, a separate building just around the corner. The only wooden chair was rickety. I pushed the chair together with my own hands. It needs replacing. There is a light by the entrance door which, by night, is governed by a sensor. The light did not work. We had to utilise the torch function on my mobile to assist our comings and goings during darkness. The levers on bottles of handwash in the en-suite and shower unit would not plunge so we ended up pouring the handwash out of the bottles. A 'safety light' on the ceiling opposite the door to the Studio flickered in intensity during the night which we found disturbing. I found the underfloor heating difficult to adjust. Space was tight. We found the food, (evening meal and breakfast) OK but below standard of other Robinsons pubs. I had intended to raise the issues with the manager on checking out but unfortunately he had left. I did leave word with a member of staff. Sorry, but we shall not be returning to the Fountaine Inn.

It was a beautiful Friday evening at Linton, the sun on the lawns, picnickers by the river. We sat and had a drink looking at the view. It was time, we were shown into the dining room, comfortably informal, we ordered. Nashua prawns on sourdough toast for each of us and then Barnsley chop and Sausage and Mash. I can honestly say that the prawns were the best thing I’ve eaten in a long time (since the wrap at Kunafa Tea). Spicy tomato sauce piled high on a large slice of toast. No counting the prawns here, stacks of them. Beautiful appetiser. My Barnsley chop was perfectly cooked, fat rendered but still the right side of pink for me. A huge 1” thick four sider, chips and a mint gravy. I hate mash so didn’t try it but the way my partner tucked in said it all. We had a lovely drive back, full and our taste buds zinging. The staff are delightful as well, what a pub!

This is a beautiful pub, the various snug looking areas inside looked great for a cold day, especially the wood burner. We however were lucky enough to have a hot weeks holiday in nearby Burnsall, in late July, so sat outside on the two occasions we visited. Linton is such a beautiful village to visit, and the Fountaine Inn a pleasant, clean, and friendly place to stay. The lovely people who work there are flexible about special requests, and so helpful; chatting with them was an added pleasure.

The Fountaine is in a beautiful location, the pub is very quaint with lots of walkers & dogs. We visited on a very wet day and there was a huge smell of wet dog which is to be expected as the pub is dog friendly! Service at the bar was great, we checked in very easily and were escorted to the entrance of the building where our room was ‘Alms view’. The room was very basic for the cost to say the least. It was clean as was the linen, but nowhere to place our cases, a single wardrobe that had a large fan within, the dressing table had the tea tray, kettle, coffee machine, pods , bags sugar etc& a lamp so limited space for anything else. The en-suite was tiny, soap & shampoo half used, tissue box on wall empty, shower was tiny so once my husband was in the shower he couldn’t move. Please check behind the bathroom door as there are historic cobwebs that require attention! The bedside cabinet hadn’t been checked during cleaning as there were underpants, socks & a phone charger ( not ours) left in the drawer. Bed was comfy and slept well with the window open as the room was hot. In all honesty the room felt more like a cell so this was disappointing for the price £148.75 which inc a 15% discount. We had an evening meal that was very nice, the service was very good. Breakfast was nice but had a snotty poached egg, again service was very good. Would certainly visit the pub again but wouldn’t stay as in our opinion it wasn’t value for money!

Walked here across the fields on a balmy Monday evening with friends, having booked a table earlier that day. We had drinks in the "cosy" bar (where we could have opted to eat) before heading into the restaurant to choose our food. Service was attentive and the food arrived piping hot - and was met with happy sounds; everyone seemingly pleased with their choice (although if I'm being picky, my gammon was a touch overdone). Portions were generous, which unfortunately left us little room for pud. However we bravely tackled two between us (after all there was the walk back home again to undo the effects of overeating!) Best part? The totally unexpected reduction of 33% on the cost of the food - apparently something they do on Mondays. Go - before they change their minds!

I just went to the restaurant. Don't take a room. The food was good and the atmosphere was calm. In front there is a green area and a river ideal for relaxing and reading a book.

I’m holidaying in Grassington with my partner and mum. Having eaten at an establishment in Grassington that was awful we were disappointed so looked further afield! Found this place last minute and arrived at 7:50pm (they stop serving food at 8pm) we were greeted by friendly staff who showed us to a table. We discovered it was pie night! I had the beef and potato, my mum had the chicken and ham. My partner didn’t fancy a pie so had the chicken supreme. As my title says.. wow! The food was incredible! The pies were full to the brim and just gorgeous! My partners chicken supreme was beautiful too! They even did us some dessert to take away because we were stuffed but really wanted one! We got 2 of the tortes with cream - I have since eaten mine and that was also amazing! Really grateful to the staff and of course the chefs for serving us so close to the end of food service. We dealt with 3 different staff and all of them were lovely! 3 very full and very happy customers! Would definitely recommend this place! 😊

I can't say enough good things about this little coffee house! The food was delicious as was the coffee. Their hospitality was warm, inviting, friendly, funny - my list could go on and on. They have seating inside as well as outside. There are lots of yummy choices on their menu. The baked goodies are made fresh each morning by the owner (who was just so lovely). Honestly, this was our favorite place to grab a bite in Grassington.
