The Fountaine Inn in Craven

We booked for 7 people for a Sunday roast a week in advance, arrived 40 minutes early and had a drink beforehand, then only when our order was being taken they told us they had no roasts left. We would have appreciated a call beforehand or to be told as we arrived that this was the case. The menu online is also decieving price wise, as it was actually around £17 for a main.

Went with my partner for a roast on a Sunday! Ordered drinks and food and were greeted by a lovely man who quickly brought us some water. We then waited 20 minutes for drinks we had ordered and were then told they had lost our ticket. After another 10 minutes we were brought drinks and waited for our food. We waited a total of 50 minutes for food and the table next to us ordered starters which came out within 5 minutes of them ordering and before our food had arrived, we asked the waitress who told us it would be with us soon. Our food arrived about 5 minutes later and I was very disappointed. The cauliflower cheese we sent back as it was watery and a tiny portion for £5! The vegetarian roast consisted of a piece of charred cauliflower, red cabbage, one carrot and 3 potatoes and gravy. It was again a tiny portion and £17! Total cost of the meal was £43 with drinks (no starters or desserts) and we were left hungry and have had to go to the shop to get more food for dinner! My partners pork roast was much better however still not a great meal, we will not be back.

Set in a quiet village, near the stream and ford, staff extremely helpful, food great, room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was enormous but with the walks around the area (available at the bar) was soon worn off.

Absolutely lovely country pub. We always pay this place a visit when we're out walking in the area. Dog friendly and some excellent local ales. Friendly staff and a lovely warm real fire. What more can you ask for?

Had lunch today:16 March. Fantastic black pudding for me, spicy prawns for my wife. Great service. Lovely friendly staff. Recommend you give it a visit.

Amazing food. The staff went above and beyond for us this evening. After a very long walk we couldn’t face cooking. We rang to see if we could get a takeaway and we where very much accommodate. Then when we got back home and tucked in the food was truly amazing. Thank you so much

Had poor experience this evening 23 .2. 24 food wise and service not at bar but restaurant, food was poor I had mixed grill average at best , my son had steak average at best , my wife had pie awauful like rubber, changed to chicken supreme just as bad , shame as we have been coming here for 20 yrs , poor food experience if I'm honest , maybe off night

Brilliant pub in the Yorkshire Dales with a great choice of local beers, a lovely snug with traditional coal fire, could have stayed here all afternoon. The staff are really friendly.

Did not stay, only visiting, or appreciate the location as it was evening/pitch black lol... That said, what a fantastic meal, my partner had the Sirloin and I had the Pan Fried Chicken Supreme... Best meal I've had in a looooong time...quality of the food 10/10 matched by the service which was likewise. Superb hospitality. Thoroughly enjoyable evening...thank you Fountaine Inn 🙂

Really beautiful hotel in a fantastic village! We stayed in a dog friendly room and it was gorgeous, large and very clean. Both dinner and breakfast were great, 100% recommend!

Checked in checked out did not stay for our 1 night stay room cold , bath ran was luke warm no loo roll no milk no coffees for machine dirty slip mat Tissues under bed not ours ,needs attention this room window in bathroom not closing very well disappointed after driving 50 miles and £125 !!! Not worth asking price .

Had Christmas lunch at the Fountain Inn. Excellent. This is the first time my wife and I have had Christmas lunch out. I can say it was a very pleasant experience, service was spot on, lunch was exceptional. They just had the numbers right, the table layout was good. The time between course's was just right. A plesent atmosphere. The couple closest to us were very nice. All in all a lovely Christmas lunch. We'll done Stuart and all the team at the Fountain Inn. All the best for 2024. Paul & Caroline. Had a lovely family stay, room was a good size, for us and two babies, bed very comfy and the decor is charming. Our evening meal was delicious, 3 courses all amazing and the kids meals just as good. We were made to feel welcome and instantly started to relax. We’ll definitely go back, it’s a little oasis.

Booked here for midday meal on Sunday and the food and service was excellent. Tried to log onto their Internet to use WiFi. Could not log on due to not being able to get the email confirmation of the log on procedure, needed to use email.

Lunch today. I had the Wednesday fish and chips special (£9.00 ) fantastic and a generous portion as well. My wife had the Wensleydale sandwich which was also excellent. Staff very helpful and cheerful. Very good visit and I would go out of my way to go here.

My husband and I stayed mid-week at The Fountaine Inn in the beautiful village of Linton. It was immediately welcoming with lovely friendly staff. The evening meal was delicious and the accommodation was cosy with everything you needed at hand. Breakfast was fantastic with an excellent choice to set you up for the day. We could not praise our experience at The Fountaine Inn highly enough. The village itself is in a wonderful setting. We will return with friends!

Sunday lunches were overall good. Those having the roast beef however found it very tough. Puddings were very good. Service excellent.

I had a wonderful stay at the Fountaine Inn in Linton, Yorkshire. The position of the Inn is great for visiting places of interest either in your car via public transport (there is a bus stop almost next to the Inn) or by foot. Grassington is only 1.5 miles away and well worth the walk. My room was comfortable and my dog was had plenty of room to stretch out (she loved the underfloor heating). The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and there was a good cider on tap. My friends said the wine was very good as well. All in all a great place to visit (so good that I am returning next year!)

Lovely, cosy Yorkshire pub. As a local it's one of my favourites in the Dales! Away from the hustle and bustle of Grassington. Excellent choice of food and drink. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Sunday's beef lunch was sublime. The tender, succulent beef, perfectly cooked melted in my mouth. The sides, especially the pigs in blankets and parsnips, were the ideal companions. This meal made my Sunday truly special.

We visited yesterday and had one of the best Sunday lunches we have ever had . The beef was so plentiful, cooked to perfection and so tasty. Service was excellent too. Loved it and will return.

Lovely location, bar staff and waiters I cannot fault. This review is for whoever the chef was on Sunday 3rd of September. Gluten free is not a fad, I am coeliac, which any good chef should know is a serious autoimmune disease. I repeatedly checked with staff and the kitchen as to whether my meal was gluten free. It first came out with a Yorkshire pudding containing gluten on and had to go back. Then it came out with stuffing on containing gluten, which unfortunately I only noticed after I’d eaten some. I am now ill, suffering with stomach ache and other less desirable side affects on a lovely summers day. I now will be in a similar state for the next three days, as that is how long the gluten will take to get out of my system. Good chefs should not be making these basic mistakes, twice. If this was a nut allergy, you wouldn’t have made the same mistake. I suggest retraining the kitchen staff on the importance of ensuring gluten free food is exactly that, gluten free. I would be well within my rights to take further action, however, your front of house staff were very apologetic and rescued the situation. In the future I would, however, recommend having the bravery to not hide in the kitchen but come and apologise to a customer you have inflicted illness on through negligence.

The fountaine inn is one of our favourite pubs in the dales, with great food. Booked a table for last Sunday and had the best Sunday roast we’ve had in a very long time. The beef was cooked to perfection and filled the plate, along with the huge Yorkshire pudding, and most importantly plenty of delicious gravy. On top of that the service team are polite and welcoming, a fantastic dining experience.

We have been visiting this beautiful pub for nearly 30 years. It was always a favourite, not just because of the beautiful setting and lovely old white-washed exterior but the fabulous menu too. There used to be great choice and always some options you didn't get elsewhere, indeed would travel for! We fondly remember the fish stew, the 3 x nibble plates and something tempting and seasonal on the specials menu. Sadly, no more. The pub has been taken over by a chain. The menu is full of all the usual fare that you can get most anywhere. The beer used to be great too, amongst the best in The Dales (and there's some tough competition) but tonights 2 were really poor. Robinsons have also seen fit to rip out some of the lovely features. No flagstone floor (green tiles instead) and the dining room has a bizarre electric fire. The whole interior has a corporate chain feel where it used to be so cosy and 'Yorkshire'. I can't believe there weren't locals with placards at the door. Such a terrible, terrible pity. I'm afraid we won't be back until we hear its been returned to its former glory. One thing that does need pointing out...the tall, blonde waitress was excellent bless her.
