We stayed for two nights in the dog friendly room behind the pub. The room was lovely, clean with a huge bed. There was plenty of room for the dogs bed to. We ate in the pub on both nights and thought it was good. We had fish and chips on the Wednesday - it’s the special. As it was only £9.95 we expected a small meal but the fish was huge and beautifully cooked with lovely light batter. We expected it to be full price but it was the advertised £9.95 very impressed. The bar serves real ale and the beer is well kept so my other half said. There is an issue with parking as the space is limited and the pub is popular with locals and visitors alike but we managed to park. We plan to stay again, if we do we will take a torch as the path from the room to the front of pub is dark, we’d also check how to lower temp in room as it was a little warm for us we should have asked while we were there! It’s a lovely local pub in a great location with good accommodation and excellent food & beer.

Ate here twice this week, once for an evening meal which was great and then on Sunday for a traditional Sunday lunch. The Sunday lunch was outstanding. I had beef, tender and huge serving, plus cauliflower cheese, Brocoli gratin and of course all the usual accompliments . Excellent friendly service, delicious deserts in nice surroundings. Would definitely recommend. Thanks.

Visited as a stop off whilst viewing the Linton Falls, then took a walk into the village of Linton. The local pub the Fountaine was very popular with locals and tourists, we had the cheese and chutney toastie with celeriac soup and the club sandwich with chips. Both dishes was excellent piping hot the soup was exceptional. 10/10 a must on your list if you are nearby.

The Inn has an idyllic location, so idyllic parking is an issue. There is no dedicated customer car park. There is simply not the space. The minor road leading to the inn is severely congested. The interior of the inn is small with limited seating. We found the restaurant unattractive. However the staff were friendly and helpful. My wife and I found issues with the accommodation, The Studio, a separate building just around the corner. The only wooden chair was rickety. I pushed the chair together with my own hands. It needs replacing. There is a light by the entrance door which, by night, is governed by a sensor. The light did not work. We had to utilise the torch function on my mobile to assist our comings and goings during darkness. The levers on bottles of handwash in the en-suite and shower unit would not plunge so we ended up pouring the handwash out of the bottles. A 'safety light' on the ceiling opposite the door to the Studio flickered in intensity during the night which we found disturbing. I found the underfloor heating difficult to adjust. Space was tight. We found the food, (evening meal and breakfast) OK but below standard of other Robinsons pubs. I had intended to raise the issues with the manager on checking out but unfortunately he had left. I did leave word with a member of staff. Sorry, but we shall not be returning to the Fountaine Inn.

It was a beautiful Friday evening at Linton, the sun on the lawns, picnickers by the river. We sat and had a drink looking at the view. It was time, we were shown into the dining room, comfortably informal, we ordered. Nashua prawns on sourdough toast for each of us and then Barnsley chop and Sausage and Mash. I can honestly say that the prawns were the best thing I’ve eaten in a long time (since the wrap at Kunafa Tea). Spicy tomato sauce piled high on a large slice of toast. No counting the prawns here, stacks of them. Beautiful appetiser. My Barnsley chop was perfectly cooked, fat rendered but still the right side of pink for me. A huge 1” thick four sider, chips and a mint gravy. I hate mash so didn’t try it but the way my partner tucked in said it all. We had a lovely drive back, full and our taste buds zinging. The staff are delightful as well, what a pub!

This is a beautiful pub, the various snug looking areas inside looked great for a cold day, especially the wood burner. We however were lucky enough to have a hot weeks holiday in nearby Burnsall, in late July, so sat outside on the two occasions we visited. The food was great especially the special fish and chip offer on a Wednesday. The fish was fresh and the the meal was beautifully cooked. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The pub sits on the beautiful Linton square with grass opposite running down to a clear Beck with ducks, a pretty bridge, Ford and the handsome Fountaine Hospital Almshouse. It is worth also visiting Linton falls and Linton church.

Very disappointed with the vegan Ravioli dish served here. Came here for a special occasion for a parents birthday. Really excited to try this vegan dish priced £17.75 Piled with a ridiculous amount of mushrooms, and like 3 pieces of pasta at the bottom . Not worth the price at all! . The Ravoli was soggy from all the mushrooms and sticky. And the mushrooms had no seasoning.

The Fountaine is in a beautiful location, the pub is very quaint with lots of walkers & dogs. We visited on a very wet day and there was a huge smell of wet dog which is to be expected as the pub is dog friendly! Service at the bar was great, we checked in very easily and were escorted to the entrance of the building where our room was ‘Alms view’. The room was very basic for the cost to say the least. It was clean as was the linen, but nowhere to place our cases, a single wardrobe that had a large fan within, the dressing table had the tea tray, kettle, coffee machine, pods , bags sugar etc& a lamp so limited space for anything else. The en-suite was tiny, soap & shampoo half used, tissue box on wall empty, shower was tiny so once my husband was in the shower he couldn’t move. Please check behind the bathroom door as there are historic cobwebs that require attention! The bedside cabinet hadn’t been checked during cleaning as there were underpants, socks & a phone charger ( not ours) left in the drawer. Bed was comfy and slept well with the window open as the room was hot. In all honesty the room felt more like a cell so this was disappointing for the price £148.75 which inc a 15% discount. We had an evening meal that was very nice, the service was very good. Breakfast was nice but had a snotty poached egg, again service was very good. Would certainly visit the pub again but wouldn’t stay as in our opinion it wasn’t value for money!

Walked here across the fields on a balmy Monday evening with friends, having booked a table earlier that day. We had drinks in the "cosy" bar (where we could have opted to eat) before heading into the restaurant to choose our food. Service was attentive and the food arrived piping hot - and was met with happy sounds; everyone seemingly pleased with their choice (although if I'm being picky, my gammon was a touch overdone). Portions were generous, which unfortunately left us little room for pud. However we bravely tackled two between us (after all there was the walk back home again to undo the effects of overeating!) Best part? The totally unexpected reduction of 33% on the cost of the food - apparently something they do on Mondays. Go - before they change their minds!

I’m holidaying in Grassington with my partner and mum. Having eaten at an establishment in Grassington that was awful we were disappointed so looked further afield! Found this place last minute and arrived at 7:50pm (they stop serving food at 8pm) we were greeted by friendly staff who showed us to a table. We discovered it was pie night! I had the beef and potato, my mum had the chicken and ham. My partner didn’t fancy a pie so had the chicken supreme. As my title says.. wow! The food was incredible! The pies were full to the brim and just gorgeous! My partners chicken supreme was beautiful too! They even did us some dessert to take away because we were stuffed but really wanted one! We got 2 of the tortes with cream - I have since eaten mine and that was also amazing! Really grateful to the staff and of course the chefs for serving us so close to the end of food service. We dealt with 3 different staff and all of them were lovely! 3 very full and very happy customers! Would definitely recommend this place! 😊

Went with my partner for a roast on a Sunday! Ordered drinks and food and were greeted by a lovely man who quickly brought us some water. We then waited 20 minutes for drinks we had ordered and were then told they had lost our ticket. After another 10 minutes we were brought drinks and waited for our food. We waited a total of 50 minutes for food and the table next to us ordered starters which came out within 5 minutes of them ordering and before our food had arrived, we asked the waitress who told us it would be with us soon. Our food arrived about 5 minutes later and I was very disappointed. The cauliflower cheese we sent back as it was watery and a tiny portion for £5! The vegetarian roast consisted of a piece of charred cauliflower, red cabbage, one carrot and 3 potatoes and gravy. It was again a tiny portion and £17! Total cost of the meal was £43 with drinks (no starters or desserts) and we were left hungry and have had to go to the shop to get more food for dinner! My partners pork roast was much better however still not a great meal, we will not be back.

We met some friends here on Saturday. The food is good and not expensive. The service was less good but worked ok just the same. The pub is in a beautiful, if small, village and parking can be an issue, although in the middle of winter even on a weekend it was just about workable. I do recommend this place but I was left with the impression that it could be so much better. It’s 20 mins from Skipton so you specifically go there rather than drop by and with that in mind it should be a better “destination” with better food albeit at higher prices. To be honest there are lots of places with this standard of food in better locations and they are all worthy of consideration

The position of the Inn is great for visiting places of interest either in your car via public transport (there is a bus stop almost next to the Inn) or by foot. Lovely location, bar staff and waiters I cannot fault. This review is for whoever the chef was on Sunday 3rd of September. Gluten free is not a fad, I am coeliac, which any good chef should know is a serious autoimmune disease. I repeatedly checked with staff and the kitchen as to whether my meal was gluten free. It first came out with a Yorkshire pudding containing gluten on and had to go back. Then it came out with stuffing on containing gluten, which unfortunately I only noticed after I’d eaten some. I am now ill, suffering with stomach ache and other less desirable side affects on a lovely summers day. I now will be in a similar state for the next three days, as that is how long the gluten will take to get out of my system. Good chefs should not be making these basic mistakes, twice. If this was a nut allergy, you wouldn’t have made the same mistake. I suggest retraining the kitchen staff on the importance of ensuring gluten free food is exactly that, gluten free. I would be well within my rights to take further action, however, your front of house staff were very apologetic and rescued the situation. In the future I would, however, recommend having the bravery to not hide in the kitchen but come and apologise to a customer you have inflicted illness on through negligence.

We have been visiting this beautiful pub for nearly 30 years. It was always a favourite, not just because of the beautiful setting and lovely old white-washed exterior but the fabulous menu too. There used to be great choice and always some options you didn't get elsewhere, indeed would travel for! We fondly remember the fish stew, the 3 x nibble plates and something tempting and seasonal on the specials menu. Sadly, no more. The pub has been taken over by a chain. The menu is full of all the usual fare that you can get most anywhere. The beer used to be great too, amongst the best in The Dales (and there's some tough competition) but tonights 2 were really poor. Robinsons have also seen fit to rip out some of the lovely features. No flagstone floor (green tiles instead) and the dining room has a bizarre electric fire. The whole interior has a corporate chain feel where it used to be so cosy and 'Yorkshire'. I can't believe there weren't locals with placards at the door. Such a terrible, terrible pity. I'm afraid we won't be back until we hear its been returned to its former glory. One thing that does need pointing out...the tall, blonde waitress was excellent bless her.

Great location. The rooms are small but clean with excellent bathroom. There were 4 of us for dinner and this is where it went south; the food was dire at every level, over-cooked reheated beef; soggy battered fish; inedible chips: all 4 meals were really...

The welcome from the girls who are waiting tables was excellent, friendly, well-informed and cheerful. The menu was varied (we were told it had just changed), plenty of gluten free choices, and salads. We all enjoyed our food. I was able to have a "custom-made"...

We were staying two nights and it would have been nice to have more menu choices, but the pub menu was good. Great location for the Dales, in tiny village.

Nice location. very noisy and busy when we called, being bank holiday weekend, sunny and at side of stream. Quite expensive for drinks, but par for this type of location. We did not have food.

Freshly cooked food at reasonable price for the area - about £15 for main course. The ne thing preventing 5 stars is that the mushy peas came in a separate bowl - why do restaurants do this?

We have recently stayed at the Masons for a few nights for our anniversary and we have nothing but good things to say about the place 🙂 The rooms are well presented and super cosy with stunning views😍 We ate there most nights & the food 🤤 absolutely delicious, full of flavour and beautifully presented on the plate. (The Sunday Roasts are delicious, that good I forgot to take a photo of it🤤) The staff were exceptional, very kind and welcoming and always full of smiles ☺️ Especially the barman Simon who never failed to make us laugh, made us feel welcome and always served us with a smile on his face!🙂 The managers Dave & Louise are amazing cooks and generous hosts who always go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. 110% would recommend to friends and family & will definitely be staying again!🩷 (P.S. We hope chicken Kevin is doing well 😉🤣xx)
