Walked in to have a coffee. No greeting so we sat at a table as there was no one else there. Nobody acknowledged us - the man behind the counter continued working on his laptop. We walked out after 3 or 4 minutes and nothing was said. No wonder it was empty.

It was the first day of the Queen's Platinum celebrations, and stopping in Skipton for lunch, we discovered the town was buzzing. However, in Otley St we found a vegan cafe with available table space. The banana-on-toast was a first, and tasty.

As a group of 4 we popped into this stylish looking premises for tea/coffee and cake. The biggest disappointment for me was being unable to have common all garden cows milk in my tea.it had to be pea or oat milk or nowt! The food was not that appealing and expensive to boot. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience for me and my party

We visited for the first time yesterday while in Skipton. The flat white coffees were excellent and very well prepared! Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and welcoming! Lovely fresh organic fruit and veg to buy too. Loved the home smoked butter beans with great sourdough from Baltzersens in Harrogate too. We shall definitely be returning

We walked in today (Sunday morning) over an hour after it had been open. Nobody else was in the cafe/shop. Greeted with a hello which was nice. Sat down for over 5 minutes waiting to be served whilst 3 staff were 'busy' in the kitchen area. One staff member walked past us, moved a few items in the shop and then went back to the kitchen area. We then walked out. No wonder it was empty and the two cafes opposite were both full.

Entered cafe from street. Ordered 1 flapjack for myself and asked if they had any gluten free options as my wife is Coeliac. We were told that all cakes on the one plate were gluten free, there was quite a selection to choose from. We were again assured that they were definitely all gluten free, by this you would think that anyone serving food would be alerted to an intolerance or an allergy; feeling comfortable with this second reassurance we ordered 2 latte. Lovely tasting coffee, it was then that my wife overheard the waitress/proprietor mention to another customer that they didn’t use cow’s milk..! I then enquired what they used in place if cow’s milk and was informed that it was oat milk, totally unsuitable for my wife. When we told her of my wife’s predicament she was on the defensive straight away, stating that we should have read the menu, distancing herself from any responsibility at all, no apology, no realisation of the detrimental health impact. She knew we hadn’t read the menu as she watched us walk in and go straight to the counter. Eat or drink here at your own risk, with such a poor grasp of food allergies I would not have any confidence that there are no other cross contaminations, the woman’s response to us was contemptuous disregard. There are other Cafes in Skipton.

Why que for poor and expensive coffee at costa or Starbucks, when you can enjoy great coffee at this independent coffee shop. Lovely atmosphere twinned with extremely pleasant staff what's not to love. The coffee and tea they sell are a lot nice than most coffee shops and have the bonus of selling specialty coffee. I'll definitely be back on my return to skipton.

This lovely bistrot tucked away from the main roads in the centre of Skipton was a surprise find on my brief visit during the Tango weekender just gone. Amazing, delicious food, coffee and cakes served with friendliness and an attitude that makes You feel safe! Good to share the Art of Cruelty-free Food with like minded people! Well done, guys, keep going. Highly recommend indeed to vegans and omnivores alike. Pictured: the current menu and my full vegan breakfast complete with a delicious minty vegan black pudding! No pictures of cakes as they didn't last too long on their plates!

Came here for lunch, me and my friend both ordered the vegan blue cheese, mushroom and spinach toastie. The cheese was inedible and had an overwhelmingly pungent taste. We are vegan and thus accustomed to eating vegan cheese but this was awful! When we informed the staff they were patronising and didn’t offer any replacement/money back which was just bad customer service. We left hungry and £10 lighter!

Visited here with two of my friends, we are all vegan and so this seemed like the perfect cafe as everything is plant based and it looked nice inside. Two of us ordered the mushroom toastie which had vegan 'blue cheese', mushrooms and spinach. Both of us were in agreement that the cheese tasted awful, it had a perfume taste and was inedible. Our third friend tried the cheese and agreed it did not taste right/tasted off. I told both of the staff members who informed me it was 'because its vegan cheese not dairy'. I told them we are all vegan and have eaten vegan cheese before but this did not taste right. Both members of staff tried to justify the taste saying it was the brand of cheese and it is supposed to have a perfume taste. We were not offered any alternative and so we left hungry as the toasties were inedible. Would not recommend, I was disappointed in the service and the fact we were not offered anything else.

My family and I have now been many times to Steep&Filter;, and we definitely think it has the best coffee in Skipton, having tried most of the main alternatives. The food is always really, really delicious, and very interesting - I don't think you'd find this kind of thing anywhere else in Skipton. Be aware that it is mostly (maybe all?) vegan, but if you just like tasty and filling food then you won't be disappointed. Given the quality of the food and drink the value for money is really good. The service is also consistently friendly and excellent. They also have a drinks card scheme, so if you go regularly you soon find you're getting free coffees. They often run evening events, which I understand are highly rated (we've never been able to get to one though). Couldn't recommend more.

This wondrous little cafe is now one of the best things about Skipton. They have such a great ethic, and serve fabulous and unusual teas and good coffee. So friendly, and also the amazing vegan food just has to be tried if you haven't already - we went to one of their vegan supper nights last week and it was just awesome, with a chilled, friendly vibe. After visiting other places in skipton for vegan food we decided to look for somewhere new. We stumbled across Steep & filter, pleasantly surprised to find it was an all vegan cafe! The staff were all really friendly & helpful. I had the coronation chickpea sandwich which was super nice and my boyfriend had the mushrooms, cashew & pesto topped toast. We also couldn’t resist the tempting deserts & slices so decided to try the salted caramel shortbread & the cherry bakewell slice. Both were delicious. The coffee was very good, not many vegan places I have been to have made as good as a cappuccino as this place, both our latte and cappuccino were really creamy & strong. I love the fact they don’t offer soya milk as I much prefer oat milk anyway. The interior is super chilled, modern and works with the vibe they are going for. I will definitely be back again, I can’t believe we have only just found out about this place until today!

Staff could do with some training as they forgot the water we ordered and the coffee we ordered . So we sat for sometime with nothing while our sandwich’s were made. These were very good. But we had to go back to the counter and ask again for water, still no coffee arrived. So we waited till we had finished our sandwich and went again to the counter to ask for our coffee. At this point we also asked for a piece of carrot cake, big mistake ! It was revolting. I took a bite, never tasted such a nasty cake. It was dry and tasted of soap, how my husband finished it I do not know, each bite was followed by another negative comment from him. The staff told us that they had not tasted the cake, I suggest they try everything they intend to serve to the public to make sure it’s edible and nice.
