Five of us booked for a late breakfast. Suffice to say it won’t be the last time. It was really excellent! Efficient, friendly and good humoured service. Absolutely delicious food. Honestly one of the tastiest breakfasts (full English) that I’ve ever had. All 5 of us agreed that we’ll be back as soon as we can be.

We called into this cafe at 4.25pm for a quick coffee & cake before we set off for home. There were 2 other couples present. We went to the counter & the young assistant kept her back to us & didn’t say anything! She was preparing another order so after trying & failing to make eye contact we found a table & read the leaflet about the warm welcome the cafe likes to give its visitors!! Once the drinks had been delivered to another table I approached the counter again. The assistant kept her back to me & continued to tidy away! I greeted the assistant & gave her our drink order. She grimaced in return & before I could could state the cake order she interrupted & said ‘Is that it’? I decided it was! We cancelled our drinks & left!! This is the worst service we have ever received in a cafe and it was in sharp contrast to all the other shops we had visited that day.

Good points- food was god, served piping hot. Bad points- Slow service- two hours for main courses. Waiters too busy serving take aways. They’ve spent money on flower walls but the menus are all falling apart! Literally pages falling out and tatty. Man who took our order was wearing a grey hoodie! He looked terrible.

The cafe is efficiently run and we enjoyed the rooftop seating in the sun today. Unfortunately the scone was stale. Quite a shocker for me! What a shame :(

After slogging up, down and around The Lawley we headed to the Ragleth inn, last time we tried we weren’t in time for lunch so we made sure to check the times. We were met with a warm welcome and told we could sit out in the rear garden if we wanted to continue enjoying the British summer (but early like) We opted for the steak mince burger, lasagne and garlic bread. Both came with chips. Servings were big and tasty. The chips may well have been double or triple cooked and the garlic bread was the size of a baguette. Can’t fault the service, the seating area or the food. Will be no doubt do the lawley again soon just so I can come here to eat afterwards!

A truly awful experience. We got to the café at 2.50pm, only to be told that they we now only serving drinks and cakes, due to a backlog, although disappointing, as the closure time was 4pm, we decided to take a table and order a Latte, an Americano, and a Cherry Bakewell. Whilst seated, the small room was very cramped with as many tables as they could fit it, making it so loud, it was hard to hold a conversation, as it was that full. We wait around 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and thought the Cherry Bakewell would follow. After 5 minutes we asked one of the servers about this and the response was “There is a backlog”.. The Cherry Bakewell eventually arrived 5 minutes after this, by which time we had finished our drinks. Even if we had asked for more drinks, this would have been caught in the “backlog”..! On the food & Drinks - The coffee was awful and Cherry Bakewell, turned out to be a cake on such a small plate, it was impossible not to drop some of it on the table whilst trying to eat into it. The cost of this truly awful experience was £13.90 The problem on service is clear to see, not enough backroom staff to accommodate the number of tables they have crammed into such a small space. If you want to be sitting in a crammed room, waiting for service and paying top money to be treated like cattle, then this is the place for you.

Staying local so booked in for Sunday Lunch today. Certainly not disappointed, we had an amazing Sunday roast dinner beef and pork. Really well presented with side dishes of wonderful fresh vegetables, cabbage carrots and beans, you rarely get fresh vegetables now a days. We also had gorgeous Dauphinoise potatoes. We shared a huge Aston Mess their take on Eaton mess, so much fruit and cream yummy. The couple running the pub are so very nice, sad that it was so quiet but guess late in season. We did go back later for their Open Mike evening which was very well attended such a great community atmosphere. We will definitely be back and wish you both good things. P.S. Thank you for finding my bracelet too.
