We called in to have lunch on our way to Ludlow but all the tables were full so decided on a takeaway. Big mistake. Totally disorganised and very slow service , ‘ served’ by miserable ,bad tempered staff. I am registered disabled and whilst waiting ages to be served, went to the toilet. There were 2 but I was rudely told that I couldn’t use either!!! Then told to go and find the public one which was far too far for me to walk. The cappuccino was boiling hot and blistered the roof of my mouth . The food is ok but we will never go there again for sure.

Looked as though it could be quite good. Going in, the service was very slow. When our order arrived it was wrong. Worst aspect was no toilets. We thought there was a requirement to provide one if you had over 10 settings ( there are over 20 here). Nearest public toilet is 200+ metres away! The food was quite nice and the coffees were fine.

Only wanted a light lunch and asked how much the sandwiches were, told that it depended on what we had in them. My friend had a turkey, cranberry and stuffing sandwich and I had cheese and onion. Two latte coffees. Total Price £15.45p. So coffee was 2.75 each, cheese and onion sandwich £4.75 and turkey sandwich £5.20. Both served as doorstops, no cutlery. No menu, no price list, no customer toilets, no uniforms for staff, one waitress had dirty jeans! It was grubby and dark inside. Obviously it has new owners (staff) as it used to be very good. Cannot comment about the bakery side of the business, but the cafe was dreadful. Didn't feel welcome and had to leave my crusts, my friend ate her turkey but only half a piece of bread. Feel disappointed, but much more than that - a total rip off. I feel as though my money has been wasted on these expensive prices for simple everyday food.

Don't go there. Non dog friendly establishment. There is no information on display on the door at the entrance to say that dogs are not welcome. When I asked to the reason as to why dogs were not allowed the Member of staff raised her voice and said because they are not highginic. The member of staff raised her voice again and I was then asked to leave the promises. The next thing I knew a man came across claiming to be the owner I was nearly removed from premises so I left. In such a lovely town like Church Stretton were most places are dog friendly and welcoming. I was not impressed by this establishment and will not be returning. Ignore bad review. It’s a good local bakery with fresh cakes and bread cooked on premises daily, I heard them saying they supply most of the other local cafes. There are a few cafe tables but it’s mainly a take out bakery. I want in on Saturday, service from a young girl was efficient and the cakes and my loaf were fresh and good, no complaints.

Called here today with my partner and ordered two slices of MEDIUM toast a coffee an milkshake and two pastries. The young waitress seemed to have a bad attitude from the start. Forgot the milkshake and after 15mins the toast was ready,it must have been around an inch thick, even though I asked specifically for MEDIUM toast. By then we had finished the rest of our drinks and food. When. I told her we didn't want it as it took too long,I was told "toast takes a long time to cook" She was really rude to me and rolled her eyes to another member of staff when I complained. She has a bad attitude and shouldn't be serving the public.

Mixed review tbh! be aware on prices, as no menus or pricing advertised. We bought 3 sausage sarnies (lovely bread) and 2 cans of pop plus a Americano. We were charged £23 not what you expect for a basic cafe.. ? Questionable as to whether they charge the locals that or just the tourists. Also, had a few lumps of grated cheese on my sarnie, cross contamination and didn’t see staff wash their hands once whilst serving and preparing food.

Oh dear oh dear! Decent coffee brought to the table, but that's all I can praise this place for. Very tired / dirty tables and chairs, the decor is bland and shabby and lacks thought. Absolutely no atmosphere, no apparent effort given to the customer experience. No prices displayed behind the counter, at the tables or in the window. There's a sign behind the till about food intolerance, but when we asked the man serving about gluten free food the answer was a straight "no" end of.

Made to feel most unwelcome from the outset by the owner Alex who displayed a very negative and rude attitude towards us We were regarded as an inconvenience by him and I had to especially ask if it was alright to eat, this was so shocking as it was mid afternoon and the food that I requested was behind the counter, but I was told that this was going to be packed away The food we had was not the best! When we were there I heard the assistant accusing the owner Alex of being rude when serving another customer, so it was not just me! I witnessed the owner wiping teaspoons with his thumbs before putting them in customers drinks So if it's Faulty Towers you are looking for go to see Alex at Mr Bun the Baker Personally I will never be going again

We visited quite a few places on our holiday and no bakery was as good as Mr Bun the Baker. After spending a few hours in Church Stretton we decided to call into Mr Bun the Baker for a Cuppa & Cake, spend around 30 mins enjoying the cuppa & cakes, we had called in towards the Bakers closing time, paid GBP 7:20 for the 2 coffees & 2 cakes. Made welcome from the staff.

Called in for a cuppa and a quick bite to eat. I had an All-Day Breakfast and my wife had a Treacle Sponge. Neither of these were particularly cheap. The food arrived quickly, but her sponge pud was rock hard at the bottom and she sent it back. My bacon was mostly dry but hard and overdone around the edges. Mushrooms were obviously re-heated. I ate it but wished I hadn't. The only thing I can say good about was the quality of the bread (the toast - well it has to be if they are bakers, doesn't it), and the service was good. Sorry but not much consolation if you can't eat the food :-(Clearly everything except the toast had been microwaved - I suspect they could do with a new cooker.

Mr Buns in Church Stretton is a fairly typical cafe / bakery and is fine for the odd snack or take-a-way

I notice that there are not many reviews for this cafe/bakery and I can see why. On a day visit to Church Stretton we went to this cafe because it was empty (when many near-by were full) and because the bread and cakes looked lovely. And they were, but sadly, the cafe area is very tired looking with grubby radiators, cheap formica tables and a very basic overall space with the fridge/freezer on open display. However, although the coffee is good albeit in small cups, and the cakes are delicious, there is a sadly disaffected mood amongst the male staff who seem desperate to sit down at a public table to check their phone etc, rather than encourage visitors. The two women staff we saw were doing most of the work, and one had to point a male employee to the washing that needed doing. They could really achieve so much more with just a little effort. I felt sorry for the two women on duty, and irritated by the two men. They have a wonderful range of products and they are missing a trick big time.

On a day trip to Shrewsbury we stopped off in Church Stretton for a quick look, before driving up over the Long Mynd. We wanted a coffee and chose this bakers shop because of the appetising smells emanating from the door. I had coffee and my husband had a mug of tea. Good coffee and tea, and excellent value. Although the cakes and buns looked tempting, as did all the home cooked bread, we used all our will power to resist.

The soda bread is excellent value. It has a lovely moist texture and tastes divine. We order it the day before, as it sells very quickly. I can also vouch for the lovely assortment of cakes and bread rolls too, they are always fresh and well presented. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Mr bun sell the most delicious cakes pastries and freshly made breads. It is a teashop in a small market town. Lovely, friendly staff and basic surroundings. Like teashops of old. Excellent cup of tea too. The fresh cream scone with fresh bits of strawberries was one of the best I'd ever had. However if you want trendy, the wine bar is round the corner!

Food was absolutely disgusting, fed better to our dog. Luckily we only ate a small portion of our lunch, as we were both ill soon after. The eggs were under cooked, bread had unsavory taste, sausages, if you can call them sausages were pink inside and tasted awful. The place should be shut down. In fact on reflection the whole premises looked grubby, unfortunately we did not notice until seated and ordered our food. Stay away!!

I have not stopped to eat in there, just get their multi-grain bread every other day. BUt the service seems good and there are quite a few regulars that I see there, so that must mean something.

Popped in for a tea & scone. Staff are very friendly, the man behind the counter was very helpful with the elder customers and constantly smiling. Nice to see. Scone was quite dry. But I'm sure that wouldn't stop me from coming again

The cafe is efficiently run and we enjoyed the rooftop seating in the sun today. Unfortunately the scone was stale. Quite a shocker for me! What a shame :(

I must echo the views of others. A really lovely restaurant spoiled by sparrows landing on the the table where cakes are being cut and on uncleared tables. Very unhygienic - there must be a way to stop them coming into the tearooms. Never encountered it anywhere else. Health and safety would have a field day!
