2 things.. Teach your very young staff to listen to your customer, I ordered a latte with oat milk and got cows milk..my granddaughter asked for ketchup, had to ask twice..food was ok ish..but very overpriced. How can you really justify charging £20 for a lasagna ..wish I'd looked at reviews b4 my visit. Then there is the hidden charge of paying for a tree to be planted....very cheeky not to have mentioned it to me b4 I payed my bill. This should be looked into..this is theft

Our experience was that the food was very average for the cost, customer service was poor, we ordered a bottle of wine, that arrived but no glasses, we asked 3 servers for glasses, still non arrived, ended up queuing at the bar for 10 minutes for glasses, while lunch was going cold, the main course arrived but no cutlery. The roast potatoes were over cooked, the gravy had lumps of un mixed gravy, and the vegetables were carrots and savoy cabbage, The Sunday lunch was definitely not worth what was charged. Sorry for the negative review.

The difference in the size and price of the kids roast vs adult roast perhaps need looking at as we felt the adults could have been given slightly more. Food was very tasty, however.

Poor service and food was only just warm. Sunday lunch x 2. Beef was okay, 1 carrot, small portion of kale, smaller portion of red cabbage. 3 roast potatoes which were very overcooked and rock hard. To top it off the Yorkshire pudding was nigh on cold! Spoke to the barman about the cold food. He replied "sorry!" I have no problem paying £38 for 2 meals if the food is okay, this was certainly not. Would not recommend.

Decor and drinks were great- as with all Joules Pubs, but this review is about the food. Four of us ate and all agreed it was extremely poor value for money. My friend and I paid £16 for a burger, which unfortunately isn't unusual these days but if you're paying that you want it to be a good burger and neither were. Mine was average and my friends was missing all the salad and sauce. It came with a handful of chips and a mouthful of coleslaw. The friendly staff replaced his burger but it was still average. The other two in our party shared the shack house fries, which were £16. Portion was small and flavour was average. Would go again for drinks but wouldn't waste my time on the food again.

Always enjoy this pub however sadly this day I received a cask beer that was clearly full of acetic acid (vinegar off flavour). This happens and not a problem. However the barman challenged me on this and said that it could be the end of the barrel and would bring a replacement over. Also not a problem, however waited 30 minutes and a replacement drink never appeared. Had to leave at this point. Very disappointing and left out of pocket.

Pricey for the quality and quantity of the food. Wanted pie, none available. Chose burger, not hot, chips greasy and overcooked, plate very sparse. Sausage & mash - OK but how can you mess up mashed potatoes? Expected more from a Joules pub really. Staff friendly enough but disappointed with the food.

On a personal note it would be nice to see the managers name also on the welcome board outside as he is most welcoming.

Went for sunday lunch. Had mushrooms on toast for starter served with a large lump of butter on top! Completely spoilt it. Needed a sauce imo. For mains sunday roast was great. Chicken tasted great and beef cooked medium rare and was soft and succulent. For dessert had treacle tart. This was served rock hard and needed knife and fork to cut it! Should of been heated and soft but staff deducted off bill. So all in all was very mixed and we were disappointed. Deffo room for improvement.

People who came in after us were served before us. The diner on next table were even complaing and sent their food back. Wouldn't mind if they were mega busy put they weren't. To be fair we complained to a member of staff who took our order and she agreed with everything we had to say and knocked 25% off the bill. Would never go again!!

We decided to try the White Horse for my father’s 80th having spent some time checking the menus of various local restaurants. It was extremely disappointing then to discover when we arrived that the Sunday lunch menu had changed from the online one, but that ‘admin day’ was ‘tomorrow’ so they hadn’t updated the online menu! I had been looking forward to the gnocchi but as this was no longer on the menu, and as the only other vegetarian option was mushroom – which I am allergic to – I had to have a cobbled together ‘beef roast’ without either the roast or even the Yorkshire pudding that came with the beef version. Worse, I was charged the same price as the meat version of the dish, despite having about half the food! The food itself was ok, nothing to shout about but not horrendous. However, the experience overall left a bad taste and we won’t be returning.

When this pub very first opened the service, menu and food was excellent. Since refurb it’s just not good. Tried again tonight but yet again disappointed. We were told 4-5 items on menu were not available when we sat down which is the best to let people know upfront. However, the remaining items mainly served with mash pie, sausage etc which we were told they had no mash, only chips?! The food took ages to come out. It came out all in one go despite being asked if would like starter and main. The food was average. Burger thrown together and side caesar salad was a weird with garlic mushrooms. We even had to go to bar to ask for cutlery after food was served. We went to bar to pay as we couldn’t wait (couple behind waited 20mins for their bill) asked how was everything said average which the person didn’t bat an eyelid no apology. If you can’t off half your menu and have kitchen issues say food is not available instead of charging customers for rubbish!! We definitely won’t be back.

My brother and I have enjoyed many afternoon visits to the White Horse for food over the last couple of years but during our last visit for lunch at 1pm the music was so loud we were unable to concentrate enough to have a conversation. I love background music but this was intrusive and there was no escape as there was a speaker blasting at the same volume at the outside seated area. Following a polite request a staff member lowered the volume to a comfortable level, fifteen minutes later somebody turned it up louder than it was originally. The pub provides a comfortable environment with pleasing decor and the food is nice but due to the inhospitable music and the related customer service response we sadly won't return. Hopefully this can be received as constructive feedback.

Six of us visited for a friend's birthday, at the same time as the flower show. The pub was busy but service was professional, speedy and attentive. Four of us had burgers, which were all amazing. The birthday girl had the pie of the day (pulled pork) and said it was one of the best things she had eaten in months. One of our party was a coeliac, there were plenty of gluten free options on the menu and our server was very knowledgeable about allergens. Serving sizes were generous for the price, both quality and quantity! Only some of us had room for puddings after the mains, all enjoyed our choices, including the chocolate fondant, ice cream and baked rice pudding. Good selection of draught beer and cider, and cocktails/mocktails were also enjoyed by our group. Amazing food, great atmosphere and friendly and helpful team!

It was my first time at this establishment and I asked at the bar if we should order or wait to be served. We were told to sit and wait to be served. Nobody came so after 15-20 mins I went back and asked about specials and if I could order, a different t server said she would check. She never came back. Finally for the third time I stood at the bar and was very politely ignored for a further 5 minutes. We left after this but upon leaving a third server asked us if everything was Ok. We said we’ve been waiting for nearly half an hour and she apologised. We left. The servers were very polite but seemed to be a bit disorganised in dealing with our service. I’m sure it’s a nice place but it was a frustrating experience.

This was a return visit, as we previously had a meal at the White Horse which had a couple of issues but they were resolved by the manager in a friendly courteous manner. So several months later we now decided to retry and see if our past experience was a one off. Sadly our visit was again spoilt by a rather “lack lustre” meal. We ordered Fish and Chips and Battered Banana Flower and chips. After a medium wait we were given our meals which we immediately thought looked very small. The battered fish was fine but we both had 8 or 9 chips, a fork full of crushed peas and a small ramekin of tartare sauce. The Banana Flower was tiny and quite tough. I think too much of the outer “skin” had been left on. We spoke to a waitress explaining our concerns and asked for another portion of chips to bulk out the meal. After already paying £43 for our two tiny lunches and 2 pints of beer, we were charged £4 for the additional chips. Not a great experience worsened by the staff completely ignoring our issues. Shan’t be returning that’s for sure.

Great selection of drinks, beautiful decor and staff are so friendly and welcoming and have taken the time to get to know us and our dog! We eat there often and the food is always great, the roast on a Sunday is especially good, even getting a positive review from my hard to please grandparents (who are looking forward to another visit and a proper browse of the decor). We also go to the pub quiz every other Thursday with friends and always have a great time, it gets busy so recommend booking! The service was exceptional. Really warm and welcoming. Drink service was quick and a good selection. It was a new menu and they said food might be a little slower than usual. However; it was wasn’t. Food came in good time and was lovely. I had the Katsu Curry. Wife had the Thai burger and my daughter had a normal beef burger. She said the burger was elite!!! We were all very impressed and would highly recommend. The man who served us was just brilliant. Thank you

Popped in on a random Tuesday lunchtime the place was empty but that didn't put us off the service was very good, food excellent selection of drinks was spot on and the main reason we went is how dog friendly they are so we could take our little pooch with us. Would definitely visit again
