Husband had his food 5 minutes by mine arrived. When it did it was very cold. Sent it back to warm. Another 7 minutes until it came back. Staff very nice and well spoken but no use if you can’t run a quite empty pub. Food. 3/10. Go somewhere more organised.

Six of us visited for a friend's birthday, at the same time as the flower show. The pub was busy but service was professional, speedy and attentive. Four of us had burgers, which were all amazing. The birthday girl had the pie of the day (pulled pork) and said it was one of the best things she had eaten in months. One of our party was a coeliac, there were plenty of gluten free options on the menu and our server was very knowledgeable about allergens. Serving sizes were generous for the price, both quality and quantity! Only some of us had room for puddings after the mains, all enjoyed our choices, including the chocolate fondant, ice cream and baked rice pudding. Good selection of draught beer and cider, and cocktails/mocktails were also enjoyed by our group. Amazing food, great atmosphere and friendly and helpful team!

It was my first time at this establishment and I asked at the bar if we should order or wait to be served. We were told to sit and wait to be served. Nobody came so after 15-20 mins I went back and asked about specials and if I could order, a different t server said she would check. She never came back. Finally for the third time I stood at the bar and was very politely ignored for a further 5 minutes. We left after this but upon leaving a third server asked us if everything was Ok. We said we’ve been waiting for nearly half an hour and she apologised. We left. The servers were very polite but seemed to be a bit disorganised in dealing with our service. I’m sure it’s a nice place but it was a frustrating experience.

Absolutely horrible fish and chips which was severely overcooked and returned to us after we sent it back to the kitchen with a claim it was fine. Clearly reheated/ refried from earlier Up until now our experience of Jules pubs was good. We are at a loss to understand why we were treated so badly. Something was very wrong

Sunday lunch. Roast beef was delicious and plenty of it....

This was a return visit, as we previously had a meal at the White Horse which had a couple of issues but they were resolved by the manager in a friendly courteous manner. So several months later we now decided to retry and see if our past experience was a one off. Sadly our visit was again spoilt by a rather “lack lustre” meal. We ordered Fish and Chips and Battered Banana Flower and chips. After a medium wait we were given our meals which we immediately thought looked very small. The battered fish was fine but we both had 8 or 9 chips, a fork full of crushed peas and a small ramekin of tartare sauce. The Banana Flower was tiny and quite tough. I think too much of the outer “skin” had been left on. We spoke to a waitress explaining our concerns and asked for another portion of chips to bulk out the meal. After already paying £43 for our two tiny lunches and 2 pints of beer, we were charged £4 for the additional chips. Not a great experience worsened by the staff completely ignoring our issues. Shan’t be returning that’s for sure.

Typical Joules gastropub ie amazing refurb, decent veggie choices and extensive range of Joules ales.

I found the food the worst fish and chips I had in the world my wife's cheese toasted Was over done plus my fish was burnt never Go again

Had the slides, very tasty. The staff were brilliant, all young lads who were absolutely spot on, helpful, friendly and attentive, a real bonus!

Booked a table , arrived 10 mins early. 2 members of staff behind the bar. Waited by the bar, not acknowledged by either member of staff as they proceeded to serve people coming to the bar after us. Waited 10 minutes and then left

Had a lovely time last Monday for my sons 18th birthday -the staff were super helpful and hospitable -I’ve visited many times for a drink but this was the first time dining .everything was perfect so thankyou guys it’s much appreciated.

Undercooked greens made Al Dente look a distant relation , food just needed a few degrees hotter as we are not in Greece , with food is served tepidly . Rhubarb and custard trifle had a rock hard “sponge” in the bottom and no custard. Very poor effort for quite a lot of money. . Sorry but you need to pay attention to customer reviews and buck up a bit !

Newly renovated, so trying for the first time. Very impressed on first visit, decor good, seating cosy yet functional, outside area well covered, drinks well priced, staff friendly and helpful. The food was fabulous, the starters and mains have been revamped. Stunning and tasty. A starter of sesame sticky aubergine with pomegranate seeds was stunning. Well worth a visit and a return visit too.

Just a great pub. Food looked great, but we only had a beer. Excellent choice, lots of seating inside and out and even had some warm sausages roll! Staff are excellent! Pop in for a pint, good atmosphere on a Friday (when we went).

£4.80 for Carling, Green Monkey £4.60,honestly don't bother !!! go to the Beaten Track,seconds away and much cheaper and more for your money !!!!!

I went with my partner for Sunday lunch, with the 3 courses being £28 you can’t go wrong. The portions were very generous, the food was all delicious (best cauliflower cheese I had in a very very long time). Always have the friendliest of staff and a cracking selection of locally brewed beers. The best way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Shrewsbury.

We came on recommendation and what a place! I Had the lamb shank Sunday roast - it was absolutely delicious! The staff were very attentive and looked after us, including to our dog. Top service, top food, top place and really good value for money!!

Brilliant dog friendly pub, very busy on a Friday night but the waitress managed to get us a table as walks ins with a dog. Food was really good and service was quick despite how busy it was

Good food, very well cooked and done the way I wanted, good range of beer's on tap, the service was excellent and the young lady that served was excellent and a credit to her employer's. The atmosphere was lively, and when the live band started for the managers birthday, it went up another notch. The only negative thing for me was the parking or lack of it due to it being very limited. All in all, it was a really good night out, and I wouldn't rule out a return visit

Lovely staff. issues fish was off smelt strong of being off. Sent it back was told we have a five star rating and the box was in date. This was not an apology in anyway .

We did not eat at the white horse. We spent a fabulous evening listening and dancing to the Ronaldos. The atmosphere was on fire. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great evening.

Nicely decorated pub for drinks, and you can take dogs inside. We've been a couple of times for food, it's a limited menu and the food hasn't been amazing. The steak was overcooked (waitress agreed) but other than offering a redo which was declined because it would mean the table not eating together, nothing else was offered. It was a £25 steak plus £2.50 for sauce. Gluten free and vegan options are available and clearly listed on the menu although only a couple of both vegan and gluten free options.

Here for the pub quiz! Eventhough me and my friends (21-22yr olds) are terrible at it, its always a great atmosphere! Welcoming staff and great food! Loaded fries, burgers and pork bites are the ultimate pub food! Also shoutout to the girl doing the pub quiz for the first time! Still really good kept vibes going and had a laugh!

We decided to go to the white horse for a family birthday celebration - the pub is done out nicely, good selection of drinks and friendly staff however, the menu was limited. I decided on the pork dish, it sounded lovely…. This dish is not value for money at £22 it was served luke warm and as pictured. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Chips cold, burger had no taste and toppi g was cold.. asked for half a lager spot and got given a pint and charged for a pint.. staff were robotic.. no bbq sauce and ran out of mayo.. they seemed to rush us to pay but it wasn't busy.. wouldn't go again..

We went for Xmas day and spent £90 /head. We specifically asked for certain veg for our daughter at booking and yes, this was not a problem. Lunch was served with all the usual veg and not as requested, gently pointed this out to our waiter and he went on and on how busy the kitchen is and he did see a note about it but they must have forgotten in the rush (I understand they were busy but 90quid and all we asked for was a bit of broccoli) After a while he decided to bring out some cold under cooked broccoli on a side plate which still left us with the upset of unwanted sprouts etc. not a first world problem , but it was pre arranged and cost a fair bit of dosh Also my dinner came without roast potato’s so another wait for those to come

The White Horse is our new local after recently moving to the area and it’s such a wonderful pub, it’s a real highlight of our new home having such a lovely & friendly pub round the corner. Great selection of drinks, beautiful decor and staff are so friendly and welcoming and have taken the time to get to know us and our dog! We eat there often and the food is always great, the roast on a Sunday is especially good, even getting a positive review from my hard to please grandparents (who are looking forward to another visit and a proper browse of the decor). We also go to the pub quiz every other Thursday with friends and always have a great time, it gets busy so recommend booking! It’s been lovely getting to know the pub, staff and landlords, Amelie, George and Tori are such friendly hosts and we feel lucky to have such a unique, welcoming pub to call our local!

The service was terrible. Waited 20minutes to pay them for the meal, 3 different places stood, ridiculous. Had to ask for cutlery.The Xmas menu didnt have half of what it said it had on the menu, limited choice not much to choose, had something twice couldn,t have a variety. They stuck a reserved sign on our table in our face as if to say go but could have been professional and said putting it on.Travelled a long way but will not go again

Have eaten here previously and food /service was good, so booked again as a pre-Christmas family meal. Very disappointed that the menu had changed and there was relatively little choice - and then some of the options were not available! Biggest issue was the food was lukewarm. Sausages were hard and mash was dry, pretzel burger buns just tasted burnt (what's wrong with brioche buns?!) and the available vegetarian option was battered and far from healthy. Raised the issue with management, who dealt with it appropriately, however all evening looked as though she didn't want to be there. Nicely refurbished pub and a great location for us, but there are better places which are more welcoming, have better hot food and are cheaper - such a shame.

We use this pub every other week. Arrived at 10:30 this week to be told sorry mate "we've called last orders - it's been quiet all evening "

Thoughtfully refurbished Joules pub. Lots of space. Good beer (as usual). Relentless Christmas music was the only letdown, but it was December 1st, so I guess I have to let that go.

Yet again let down as a local. Took my family in for a meal. Firstly, wrong meal brought out then when the right meal came out. Stone cold mash on 1 meal and cold chips on the other. Waitress staff great and managed it well. Was then subjected to a prolonged fire alarm where the management clearly don’t have access or know how to manage the fire alarm system. Great staff, poor management.

Underrated. Deserves more than the 4.1 rating it’s got. The food was really homely and tasted fresh. Interior and vibes are nice. Will come again!

Recently held a wake here after reading such good reviews. Everything went as well as it possibly could. The buffet was lovely, plentiful, well presented and everything tasted very fresh. It was a very smooth process throughout and staff were very respectful and professional. We were in The Duke room which was perfect for the occasion. Highly recommend and thanks to all involved.

We popped in for sunday lunch with a couple of friends who were visiting. All the staff were friendly and helpful as best they could. The food was decent, well cooked and reasonably flavoured. None of it was particularly hot though. Not cold, just not piping hot. Our server, bless her, was in dire need of some training. She didnt know the menu, she wasnt confident answering questions, she always went to check with her line manager. But she was friendly and was trying her best to be accommodating. Cant fault her for that

This is a lovely pub with friendly, helpful staff. It's a great place to go with a group of friends. However, they really do need to up their game with their veggie offering. A few weeks ago my friend had to send her meal back to the kitchen because her aubergine was raw! Last night I had to send back my Cauliflower "steak", as the wedge of cauliflower was raw but burnt to a cinder! It was served up with some uninspiring mashed sweet potato and a tiny amount of shrivelled green beans. I might have made a valiant attempt to eat it apart from the fact it was all lukewarm. It's a real shame as it is such a nice pub and such a great place to go with a group of friends. But our next meal out most likely won't be at the White Horse.

A pub that's full of warm welcomes and clearly run by a great team. We stopped in for dinner, and service was excellent. Despite our waitress admitting to being new and thus unable to give qualified advice on the menu, she was full of charm and attentive throughout. The food was a little more patchy, in all honesty. Highs included the truffle cauliflower cheese croquettes to start (a delicious blend of sweet and salt) and the "our burger" which was cooked to perfection and served alongside some fantastic fries. Comparative lows were the chicken burger that was light on flavour, and the dessert special (a toffee apple crumble and custard) which was overdone and as a result extremely crunchy on top. All forgivable, but for the money (nearing £100 for dinner for two) we did walk away feeling there were better options in the area.

We went into the white horse today for Sunday lunch, the food was good but the service was excellent. The waiter who served us was a blonde girl called Ruby despite it being busy she looked after our table, she was very efficient ,making sure our glasses were toped when they were low and was very knowledgeable about the menu. All round very good service and food, will definitely be coming again.

Came here after having an interview at Shirehall and myself and my Dad had the burger and steak respectively. What can I say? Amazing food we both absolutely loved it. Great and friendly service and food was fantastic. Hoping that if I get the job I can come here more often, have recommended to my sister who is often in Shrewsbury so I am sure that some of us will all be in again. Thanks for a lovely meal and good hospitality.

First time visiting. We all had chicken burgers and chips. Delicious. Very tasty and generous portions. Struggling to eat all. But we did . The staff are very welcoming. And Helpful. Will be back.

First visit here for the Red Brick Presents Comedy At The White Horse & it was fab. Food was awesome & staff so friendly & helpful. Hannah Byczkowski was soooo funny. We will be back. Definitely recommend 🎉🎉

Dissapointed, I’m a regular and this is the 3rd time I’ve had a problem. The first time I sent a message in messenger to avoid a bad review. Read but no reply! 1st time quiz night and couldn’t get served. 2nd time poor customer service and tonight I go for a pint to be told they are closed until tomorrow, staff only tonight. You won’t last long in business behaving like that. Always look after your locals…they are your bread and butter. I won’t bother again I’m afraid.

Pre booked area, with food.. should be easy and make service simpler!? Not at the white horse. Staff have no charisma or customer service experience is definitely not high on the agenda here. 40 minutes before anyone came to even acknowledge us, or takes a drinks order. We had gone to the bar instead.. the bar staff weren’t very clued up on what they were offering. Food was average, not exactly hot, to say service was slow would make the tortoise look like a F1 driver. It’s a pretty quirky pub and if you fancy a drink and there’s only 2 or 3 of you in the party I’m sure it’d be fine, but anything else, don’t waste your time or money. It’s expensive too.

A few occasions now I've been in and had stood at the bar for Over 10 minutes waiting to be served I just walk out in the end. lovely place lovelly food otherwise
