Great location and service, but I went out for my last cigarette in the packet to de stress from my annoying husband, only to be accosted by a very boring stranger whilst a homeless woman stole my cigarette and ran off.

Great place and it's smack in the middle of the town.

Great location but I wouldn't come again. If sleep is important to you, don't come. On account of this location it is very noisy until at least 2am with loud drunk people, acting up and being inconsiderate of others in the streets and in the building. It's probably fine if you're in your 20s and hammered drunk, but the days of mini-Magaluf are behind me and my wife. We got about 8 hours of very broken sleep all weekend (stayed 2 nights). Nearly went home on the first night, but decided to tough it out so we didn't completely waste our hard-earned cash. We were very grateful to get home for some sleep and away from the annoying idiots of the great British public.

We visited the pub for a meal and a drink. There was a problem with payments on the app being processed twice on the day we were there. I was told it was not just this pub it had happened in. Have to say I was impressed with how efficiently the overpayment was refunded to my card. The staff at their head office processed the refunds very quickly.

One of 2 Wetherspoons only 70 yards from each other. This ones a hotel but does the usual £1.99 ales but has no choice and poorly kept.

Wow what do I say? Last visited in August Where it was £5 odd for a wrap and pint? It's now almost £8 for the same thing? I knew prices were bad but this bad 🤦 used to visit spoons as it was cheap and cheerful? Wouldn't recommend if a family on a budget eat at home folks!

Came here for something to eat on a Saturday evening and got ignored by the bar staff, to the extent other customers were commenting on me not being served. When I was eventually service the service was rude and unfriendly. I've never been treated like that before in a pub.....

The usual efficient good value Spoons.

Very comfortable clean room, excellent service at breakfast and the bar, close to the station not far from the shopping area. Definitely stay there again

This review, is primarily of the hotel. The hotel is well and centrally located, we parked in the car park at the train station which was just over £6 for 24 hours and not too far on foot. The staff were pleasant on arrival. The room was clean, and as we expected. Although I did note on our booking that I am a very light sleeper so a quieter room would've been appreciated. We were in 209. I don't think they could've gave us a noisier room. I was woken in the night at least 5 times by people shouting, swearing, singing and then by the 5am delivery. Book here if you want to be central, if you want a nights sleep maybe think twice.. Everything else as expected from a Wetherspoons

Good Witherspoons pub. Still one of the best in town for price. Food is reasonable as well.

Stayed here about 24 years ago just after Spoons opened this as a hotel. The front car park was a big seller..but now a beer garden. Does what Spoons says on the packet. Food n drink very reasonable.

Ate in there a couple of times. Very good. £16.99p for 2 of us x eating, each time, including drinks (Same meal at where we were staying was £16.99p each, plus drinks❗️). What a difference. Even better a pint of beer was £1.79p❗️(about £7.00p where we were staying). It was very busy for obvious reasons, so says a lot. Recommend.

Accommodation a definite no no if you wish to sleep at all, I believe recently some council id...s allowed for a nightclub next to the wetherspoons pub, nothing against nightclubs and tbh the noise/music level was very low not a problem but the smoking area of the night club is just below all the hotel rooms so from 10PM until 4AM you will be able to clearly hear all the shouting, swearing and squabbling from all the selfish mo..ns I am not a snob but the lack of respect for people staying at the hotel is disgusting, yes we know Karma will get them back in later life but if you have already booked a stay there drink plenty of fluids in the lovely pub area have an empty plastic water bottle handy and if you need to go in the middle of the night! well I think you can guess the rest. I won't be staying there again so please send the ar.....es who approved this for a stop over so they can see for themselves, we stopped there a lot when going to the theatre seven across the river but sadly no more.

Positives first.. room small but clean and tidy and perfect for a short break.. Location is fab with a short walk to centre and all local amenities. Staff every member of staff we had dealings with were friendly knowledgeable and polite and pleasant in particular Jack the night porter. NEGATIVE We stayed here for one night last night after a lovely day. we went out for a meal and a few drinks at the night time and arrived back in our room at approximately 12.30am. Our room was 109 and was situated on the side of the Hotel the furthest part of the hotel across the road was the Take Away Shrewsbury BBQ and Grill.. This is when our night went wrong.. The noise from the adjacent take away was absolutely horrific people shouting screaming singing and even a fight, this all went on until 4.10am. We were given some earplugs from reception but tbh they were no good ..Think this hotel needs to invest in some better windows. I appreciate speaking to the manager this morning and coming and she dealt politely and professionally with my complaint. My advice to anyone staying here at a weekend would be to avoid at all costs rooms 108 and 109. I do have a video but unfortunately cannot load it onto here for people to judge for themselves.

You can't really go wrong with a weatherspoons, you kinda know what you're going to get. All in all, no complaints.

Stayed here for my 20th wedding anniversary

It's Weatherspoon meals always hit and miss ,mine came so over cooked it was returned ,husband and grandson ate there's and mine was still not back ,I asked again ,when it came it was again inedible I just asked for money back and left ,tables all covered with dirty plates and glasses no one cleaning ,people moving them onto window sills so they can sit at a table ,they bring drinks ordered on app and walk back with a empty tray ,needs more staff and more training

The food they provided wasn’t very good and the next day it made me sick all day throwing my guts up won’t be eating from there ever again

I would like early breakfast so wetherspoon is always good option. Great location near the river. Staff was nice and attentive. Good breakfast options at very pocket friendly prices. Quick service. Nice seating area inside as well as outdoor.

When me and my family went to the Wetherspoon restaurant for a meal we had to wait over 30 minutes for the meal to arrive which is ridiculous and this is the only reason I am rating 4 out of 5 other than this it was good👍

As I found out. Aka. Getting banned. If you sit at the multitude of outside tables. Theyres no menus. So I didn't even know they dis food. Hence why I went to the kebab house. And git banned for eating. The 'landaly' said she could do the food I'd just bought cheaper. But had no definitive proof. And banned me anyway. But other than that. Cheap, quality beer.

The Shrewsbury Hotel is an excellent wetherspoons. There is the usual wide choice of beers, lagers, and cider, including five hand pulled cask conditioned real ales when we visited. The real ales we sampled were in excellent condition. There is a large outside seating area partly covered in front of the hotel. The place is nicely decorated. the staff were very friendly and efficient.

Hi I enjoyed my stay at the Shrewsbury Hotel the food was good the staff were great and the accommodation was very good,would not hesitate to go back ,thumbs up .

Very very clean hote l unfortunatelly the lift didn't work at the time, though great value for money, couple of steps from train station .

Staff very friendly. Room spotlessly clean . On 2nd floor which was a struggle for older people as lots of stairs .

OK for price. Rooms functional, but don't move the beds if you are particular about cleanliness. The location is very convenient, but light sleepers may not appreciate the early morning noises if their room overlooks the street.

Out on a day trip from Swansea, I called in for an after dinner drink on Wednesday 6th March. I was greeted at the bar by a friendly and helpful young man who offered me a tester of the three guest ales available. That, together with his helpful comments made my selection easy and a sat down and enjoyed a superbly fresh and tasty pint. I couldn't help but notice how much more spotlessly clean and tidy everything looked since my last visit. A smart young lady was extremely diligent in her tidying up and meticulousness wiping down of the tables. The Manager has obviously got a great team together in creating what was my finest experience in a Wetherspoons bar.

Enjoyed our overnight stay in this hotel food was well presented and served quickly. Rooms were very comfortable and spacious and we will definitely stay at this hotel again

A standard Wetherspoon's pub in a good location by the river in the centre of Shrewsbury. Could do with a refurbishment but it's ok. Keenly priced as you would expect. Open from breakfast till late at night.

Came here for a meal. I don't think you can go wrong here. It's not fancy but it is good food. Would highly recommend if you are on a budget/ want a good value meal.

Great for visiting Shrewsbury. Within easy walking distance of the station, places of interest and the shops. Located on the river with lovely walks along it. Good value for money.

A typical Spoons for those familiar with the brand. The choice of cask beers was more limited than usual though but served well and the staff were friendly and efficient.

Didn't stay here, but ate a very delicious lunch at the restaurant. Good portions and cooked to order.

As before, food was good and very well priced. Service was prompt, staff friendly. Again though, tables were not cleared quickly enough and when the one next to me was cleared the contents of the photo were left on the floor. I was there for over 30 minutes and no staff member came and swept up. Poor. Hence the average mark.

Always been a good pub but the food has really gone downhill...ordered a ham and mushroom pizza with 2 sliced mushrooms and probably 2 small pieces of ham ...stone cold ..I know it was busy but come on guys...

Nice pub but shocking bar service. Barman so busy taking to his colleague he hardly noticed me. Finally came over and just looked at me - no greeting or anything. Couldn't remember half the order and needed reminding. All the while chatting to his colleague. Wow service has gone downhill here. And the lady on the table next to mine was also complaining about the same person. The lad with the purple hair.

Great staff in the hotel and bar! Bed was super comfortable, loved watching the nightlife out the window, although not at all noisy late night. Bathroom floor could do with fixing, but did not bother us. Would definitely stay here again.

I've been here a couple of times, staff are always lovely and polite, and food is always delicious.

This was a very welcoming hotel for drinking, creating this feel right away from the Shrewsbury hotel sign! The design echoes the town's rich history and even shows brewery barrels, counter is well-presented and staff were kind. I had a tasty Halluomi wrap with a pint of Stella Artois, served to stylish seating!

After a lengthy train journey, it was great to enjoy a small burger with an excellent salad and reasonable (though not quite hot enough) chips. The large beer, a Pale Ale went down well. The male manager was very pleasant. Given it was Tuesday and after 1330 hours, I was surprised to see so many enjoying lunch. It is testamount to the chain's good reputation. The majority of these Wetherspoons hotels offer a convivial atmosphere for all types of people. The Shrewsbury Hotel is no exception1

Just come back from two nights stay here and after reading some really bad reviews the night before we went I was a bit worried but I was pleasantly surprised, the beds seemed quite new, a lite hard for me but just my preference, looked to be newly decorated and I had the best bath ever it was so deep I could have slept in it lol! It was a little noisy early in the mornings but to be expected as its near a busy road, would probably been a lot worse at the weekend though but overall a brilliant stay for a budget hotel break.

Ignored at a near empty bar as the barmaid served 3 other people she knew as they arrived in quick succession after me. Not always easy to spot the next customer in a busy bar, but it was quiet so clearly intentional or she wasn't very bright.

Not my first time. I've never been disappointed. Veggie option, large with unlimited tea or coffee. Ate at 09.30, sets me up until evening meal. Friendly staff, quick service, very clean. Plenty of space between tables. Just one downside, used plates etc aren't cleared as food is taken to adjoining tables. Not a big deal really but no need for it to happen, the staff are walking the floor constantly. And a little word of warning to the men reading this, watch out for the slight (unmarked) rise in the floor level in the gents, I've seen it catch out many over the years, can cause you to stumble.
