I would like early breakfast so wetherspoon is always good option. Great location near the river. Staff was nice and attentive. Good breakfast options at very pocket friendly prices. Quick service. Nice seating area inside as well as outdoor.

When me and my family went to the Wetherspoon restaurant for a meal we had to wait over 30 minutes for the meal to arrive which is ridiculous and this is the only reason I am rating 4 out of 5 other than this it was good👍

As I found out. Aka. Getting banned. If you sit at the multitude of outside tables. Theyres no menus. So I didn't even know they dis food. Hence why I went to the kebab house. And git banned for eating. The 'landaly' said she could do the food I'd just bought cheaper. But had no definitive proof. And banned me anyway. But other than that. Cheap, quality beer.

The Shrewsbury Hotel is an excellent wetherspoons. There is the usual wide choice of beers, lagers, and cider, including five hand pulled cask conditioned real ales when we visited. The real ales we sampled were in excellent condition. There is a large outside seating area partly covered in front of the hotel. The place is nicely decorated. the staff were very friendly and efficient.

Hi I enjoyed my stay at the Shrewsbury Hotel the food was good the staff were great and the accommodation was very good,would not hesitate to go back ,thumbs up .

Very very clean hote l unfortunatelly the lift didn't work at the time, though great value for money, couple of steps from train station .

Staff very friendly. Room spotlessly clean . On 2nd floor which was a struggle for older people as lots of stairs .

OK for price. Rooms functional, but don't move the beds if you are particular about cleanliness. The location is very convenient, but light sleepers may not appreciate the early morning noises if their room overlooks the street.

Out on a day trip from Swansea, I called in for an after dinner drink on Wednesday 6th March. I was greeted at the bar by a friendly and helpful young man who offered me a tester of the three guest ales available. That, together with his helpful comments made my selection easy and a sat down and enjoyed a superbly fresh and tasty pint. I couldn't help but notice how much more spotlessly clean and tidy everything looked since my last visit. A smart young lady was extremely diligent in her tidying up and meticulousness wiping down of the tables. The Manager has obviously got a great team together in creating what was my finest experience in a Wetherspoons bar.

Enjoyed our overnight stay in this hotel food was well presented and served quickly. Rooms were very comfortable and spacious and we will definitely stay at this hotel again

Supported a person there with excellent service nothing too much trouble , as for different items I asked for, for the person I supported, it was quickly given a very pleasant experience. Excellent staff friendly service

A standard Wetherspoon's pub in a good location by the river in the centre of Shrewsbury. Could do with a refurbishment but it's ok. Keenly priced as you would expect. Open from breakfast till late at night.

Came here for a meal. I don't think you can go wrong here. It's not fancy but it is good food. Would highly recommend if you are on a budget/ want a good value meal.

Great for visiting Shrewsbury. Within easy walking distance of the station, places of interest and the shops. Located on the river with lovely walks along it. Good value for money.

A typical Spoons for those familiar with the brand. The choice of cask beers was more limited than usual though but served well and the staff were friendly and efficient.

Didn't stay here, but ate a very delicious lunch at the restaurant. Good portions and cooked to order.

As before, food was good and very well priced. Service was prompt, staff friendly. Again though, tables were not cleared quickly enough and when the one next to me was cleared the contents of the photo were left on the floor. I was there for over 30 minutes and no staff member came and swept up. Poor. Hence the average mark.

Always been a good pub but the food has really gone downhill...ordered a ham and mushroom pizza with 2 sliced mushrooms and probably 2 small pieces of ham ...stone cold ..I know it was busy but come on guys...

Nice pub but shocking bar service. Barman so busy taking to his colleague he hardly noticed me. Finally came over and just looked at me - no greeting or anything. Couldn't remember half the order and needed reminding. All the while chatting to his colleague. Wow service has gone downhill here. And the lady on the table next to mine was also complaining about the same person. The lad with the purple hair.

Great staff in the hotel and bar! Bed was super comfortable, loved watching the nightlife out the window, although not at all noisy late night. Bathroom floor could do with fixing, but did not bother us. Would definitely stay here again.

Didn't stay in hotel but we had a meal and drink. Food hot and on hot plates! Drink served quickly. Good experience, better than a lot of pubs charging double!

This was a very welcoming hotel for drinking, creating this feel right away from the Shrewsbury hotel sign! The design echoes the town's rich history and even shows brewery barrels, counter is well-presented and staff were kind. I had a tasty Halluomi wrap with a pint of Stella Artois, served to stylish seating!

After a lengthy train journey, it was great to enjoy a small burger with an excellent salad and reasonable (though not quite hot enough) chips. The large beer, a Pale Ale went down well. The male manager was very pleasant. Given it was Tuesday and after 1330 hours, I was surprised to see so many enjoying lunch. It is testamount to the chain's good reputation. The majority of these Wetherspoons hotels offer a convivial atmosphere for all types of people. The Shrewsbury Hotel is no exception1

Just come back from two nights stay here and after reading some really bad reviews the night before we went I was a bit worried but I was pleasantly surprised, the beds seemed quite new, a lite hard for me but just my preference, looked to be newly decorated and I had the best bath ever it was so deep I could have slept in it lol! It was a little noisy early in the mornings but to be expected as its near a busy road, would probably been a lot worse at the weekend though but overall a brilliant stay for a budget hotel break.

Ignored at a near empty bar as the barmaid served 3 other people she knew as they arrived in quick succession after me. Not always easy to spot the next customer in a busy bar, but it was quiet so clearly intentional or she wasn't very bright.

Not my first time. I've never been disappointed. Veggie option, large with unlimited tea or coffee. Ate at 09.30, sets me up until evening meal. Friendly staff, quick service, very clean. Plenty of space between tables. Just one downside, used plates etc aren't cleared as food is taken to adjoining tables. Not a big deal really but no need for it to happen, the staff are walking the floor constantly. And a little word of warning to the men reading this, watch out for the slight (unmarked) rise in the floor level in the gents, I've seen it catch out many over the years, can cause you to stumble.

Hubby and I had a 2 night stay here as attending the retro festival in The Quarry. Location was superb as was The Frankwell car park we were advised to park in. Parking fees were very reasonably priced, free after 6pm and on Sundays but had to go and get new day ticket by 8am on the Saturday morning. Check in was quick and easy and done by 2 very helpful ladies who were smartly dressed and courteous. Our festival trolley was very kindly stored at the back of reception until the following morning. Our family room booked was of a very good size, clean and with ample tea, coffee and biscuits. The bed was comfy and a good nights sleep was had on both nights. However, we were woken a few times through the night by revellers passing the hotel and also traffic noise as our windows were at the front. We did not need an alarm clock as the elderly gentleman who was sweeping the front beer garden made plenty of noise with his plastic brush and pan starting very early in the morning! The bathroom was of a large size, toiletries provided and large fluffy towels. Shower was powerful and plenty of hot water to be had. The breakfast had were very good, reasonably priced and pleasing to have served on warm plates. All drinks very reasonably priced and all staff jolly, helpful and courteous. All ready booked to return in 2024.

Spoons are normally a good standby and their fish and chips is normally of a reasonable standard as it was on this occasion. The Abbot ale is the main attraction for me. Unfortunately the experience left a lot to be desired. Sticky tables, a guy stood outside the window, spitting. A drunk stood at a table randomly talking at people. Good value and decent food but I won't be rushing back.

Not stayed or eaten but guess it’s standard Spoons with the addition of accomodation. Difficult to be critical as the prices are more than competitive and this in turn tends to attract a broad range of clientele. There is a large sunny outside area but I have marked it down because dogs aren’t welcome

The first Wetherspoon hotel, now open 25 years. Impressions were mixed. Staff were helpful, room comfortable, though access not very easy for an old bloke with a gammy knee (no lift). Room should have been marketed as a single. Double bed made access to bathroom difficult. Bathroom itself was a tight fit. Anyone enthroned on the toilet had right knee touching the bath and left knee touching the (possibly hot) towel rail. Room described is 110. Standard Wetherspoon food. Good and cheap in the main, but beans went from fridge to plate bypassing the microwave.

We not returned here since COVID struck. Some changes taken place for the benefit of the pub, hotel. The car park has gone and replaced by an outdoor sitting area. More importantly flood defences have been installed to protect the property. Now to the drinks etc. Not much changes inside, drinks and food increases much in line with other spoons establishments. A sign of the times. Certainly would recommend the place and most certainly will be calling back again, but preferably within months not years.

Service spot on, breakfast great value. But oh my god the amount of old men that necking Stella at 9.30am on a Sunday morning. Their conversations rattle around the room with every other word being f*** Now me and the wife are quite broad minded but having to listen to the nonsensical vulgarity was unacceptable. The staff seemed uninterested but I guess these old foul mouthed codgers are part of the furniture. Certainly wouldn’t take children or family in there.

Vast improvement on our last visit when they were woefully understaffed. Service with a smile and tables cleared quickly. As usual competitively priced.

Friendly and efficient staff. Stayed in room 103 and an issue we had we had with the room was dealt with promptly and courteously. Thank you to all involved. We had an enjoyable breakfast and a wonderful stay.

Visited this establishment with a friend for lunch and we were both very satisfied with our choice of the smaller serving of scampi and chips. The four pieces of scampi were perfectly cooked and the fish was lovely and soft. Chips hot and crispy. The meal included a glass of wine and for less than £8 it certainly was great value or money.

We chose the Shrewsbury Hotel for a meal while enjoying a day out in the town. Our order comprised of 2 sirloin steaks with chips and a child sausage, chips and beans. When the food arrived, the meals comprised of a very small amount of chips per plate, which were cold and had clearly been sat out for some time and the steak ordered as medium, was very well done and was so tough it was inedible. Having tried one of the sausages from my sons meal, this was also found to be cold. A very disappointing meal and will not return in the future.

Visited the Shrewsbury twice in the course of a week, once for breakfast and once for dinner. The app is great, means you can very easily order from your (outside) table without having to go inside at all. The addition of the open sided marquee...

Went in for breakfast at around 10:45 am, left at 11:15 as no one came to take our order. They set other people in the same area and quickly walked off so didn’t have a chance to grab attention. Will not return and will not recommend to friends due to poor staff attention.

You know what you get with Spoons which is value for money everytime. The food and drink are so ridiculously cheap and it is cooked well. What I find from most Weatherspoons and with this establishment is just how hard the staff work and just how friendly and efficient they are. This is what makes it work. People who expect so much can be critical but you always know what you get here and that is really satisfactory every time. Full Covid 19 hygiene and controls in place too.

Steak night is Tuesdays night and with wetherspoons it's hit and miss as to whether you get a good meal...ordered two steaks and two pintd via w/s app ,drinks arrived quickly followed by food ..One steak ok the other truly bad a full of fat and gristle , Chips cold , and No mustard .
