Stopped off in Church Stetton recently, we fancied a quick snack for lunch - and the Bucks Head fitted the bill perfectly. The building itself is very interesting, being one of the older ones in the town, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We just had two starters, a glass of wine and a small coke, but this was exactly what we wanted and very enjoyable. I paid about £20 and as and when we're back in this delightful little town we'll be sure to stop off for a more substantial meal. Recommended.

I don't like giving low scores on this but feel I should for this place. We had a pint of Peroni which tasted bad so took it back. The lady behind the bar said she didnt think it was off whilst looking at us like we were lying! She then poured herself a sip, tasted it and said it was fine. She did switch it for a different beer in the end but I wouldn't ever go back. If that beer wasn't off, the glass was gross or something. I've been drinking peroni for years and that 100% wasn't right. Only saving grace was that the locals were nice and they allow dogs.

We called into the Bucks Head as we were passing through Church Stretton and were looking for somewhere to have lunch. This lovely pub didn't disappoint. Staff were very welcoming and served us from our table. We had a choice of starters, with beef and chicken roast dinners for mains. The food was delicious! The beef was cooked beautifully, as was the chicken. A choice of vegetables were offered in a separate dish, so we could take what we needed....and the Yorkshire Puddings were something else! 😋 We were extremely pleased with the food and would highly recommend. The staff were taciturn, not one smile from a single member over the two nights that we stayed. My friend's bed had dandruff on the pillow and pubic hairs in the bed from the previous guest. When we complained, we were greeted with hostility and a loud "stage whisper" from the manager "they will have to wait for their food if I have to change the bed". The carpet in my room was filthy and didn’t appear to have been hoovered. They don't provide breakfast!!!! After an indifferent meal on the first night, we decided to eat elsewhere on the second. Returning to the Buck's Head at c9.30 for a nightcap, the hotel was in darkness and locked up. We couldn't possibly recommend it.

We visited today for lunch. We hadn’t booked but easily found a table for four of us, although it got quite a lot busier as time went on. We perused the extensive and interesting menu and chose four different dishes: chicken souvlaki, stuffed beef and lamb kofta (both served with chips, salad, pitta and tzatziki), chicken curry served with rice and poppadom and finally a sizzler dish of duck breast which came with a choice of sauce (we had plum), peppers, onions, and a choice of either fries, chips or rice and salad. All dishes were served piping hot, were fresh, delicious and plentiful. The Greek dishes were authentic so I assume the owners and/or chef are Greek as it was really very good. Everyone really enjoyed everything served not only to them but each other as we are a family who like to try each others! We had no space for dessert, sadly but they looked pretty good too. Our friendly server checked on us to make sure everything was good both during our meal and afterwards; which I always appreciate - fortunately everything was perfect but I always like the opportunity to raise any concerns. Our food bill with drinks came to roughly £70 which was very reasonable given the quantity and quality of the food. They do serve cheaper/lighter options too as well as sandwiches, baguettes etc. I popped outside to the garden to vape after our meal and was pleasantly surprised to see they have patio heaters to keep you toasty warm if you sit outside on the chillier days. I would not hesitate to return and am happy to recommend this establishment. Final note: My mother uses a rollator walker and was able to negotiate the steps in without too much difficulty; however I would suggest wheelchair users should check for accessibility as ramps might be needed?

We had a really rubbish experience and wouldn’t want the same to happen to other people! We were a table of six at Saturday lunchtime so very aware it’s a busy time and we were a larger table so when we ordered and were told food would take half an hour we were fine without. Once it got over half an hour we ordered some coffees. They were awful! If you can only make instant coffee just say. We had flat whites and lattes and they were just instant coffee with a bit of cold froth on. We asked how long our food would be after a 40 minute wait and were told it was coming out next. We waited another 10 minutes and asked again and she said the bar lady went into the kitchen and said it would be 15 minutes (even though we were just told it was coming!) and at that point we did not wait to wait anymore, we wanted to get on with the day and did not appreciate being lied to. When we went to the bar to just pay for the drinks we were told actually the kitchen hadn’t started making our food yet!!!??? Again we appreciate Saturday lunchtime being busy (there were a lot of empty tables though throughout the time we were there?) and if they are short staffed too but do not lie. There was no communication other than when we went up to ask, had the communication been good meaning we knew exactly what was going on we would have been understanding and probably stayed. There was no apology either just excuses. There is never a good enough excuse to lie!

We ate at this pub after a tiring day spent travelling and being unable to find room anywhere else on a busy Friday evening. This place was virtually empty which did give us a clue as to what to expect (Everywhere else in Church Stretton was packed out). The only saving grace was that the young serving staff were very friendly and welcoming but after that it was downhill all the way. I chose a Kleftiko from the Greek section of the menu, as I was told that the cook was Greek. A dish I have eaten many times both in Greece and in the UK at Greek restaurants. I am sad to say this was the worst pub meal I have ever been presented with. Tough grisly, cheap cut of Lamb which has obviously been microwaved. Very little edible meat to be had. If it had not had multiple lumps of feta cheese on the top it would have been very sparse. The potato served in the gravy with it, was obviously a pre-prepared jacket one cut up, that would normally be served as a jacket potato meal. It tasted stale as if it was a cold potato heated up. My companions ordered a Pizza which was obvioulsy a frozen one, not re-heated very well. As we were all hungry and tired and there were no other options for buying food we ate what we could, paid up and left. Never to return !

Came for a birthday meal last night. Staff were about 16 and didn't have a clue about service. Food was so inedible I wouldn't have fed it to my dog which is strange as the reviews were so good. I had the baby back ribs and the meat was a dark brown colour and tasted foul. Not only that my chips were sat in an inch of oil making the whole meal a write off. Definitely came out of a microwave packet and not worth £10 let alone £16. My partner had the hunters chicken and again it was just microwaved rubbish and the chicken was like rubber. No one came over to check how the food was. In my past ten years of chefing I have never come across food this bad. No one asked how it was when we got up to go and pay either, just rudely took our money while another girl serving a customer was on about her boyfriend cheating on her and her and her friend threatening them and the locals asking her to go on a head hunt with them. Classy place, you can see why I didn't want to kick up a fuss as I fancied leaving with my teeth intact 👍. Definitely not a neurodiverse friendly establishment and if the owner or manager wants to discuss this today I am in the area until Sunday. We still paid as it was only fair and I didn't want to get into confrontation with the chef on my birthday as I was so angry about the service and food provided it would have only gone one way. If you wanted to waste £40 on two meals and two drinks with food you wouldn't feed a starving dog definitely go here. 🤬😡

Cute beer garden and dog friendly which is a huge bonus for everyone involved.

Beer was off. Dirt in the salad. £8 for BLT and the bread was packaged supermarket stuff. But they gave me a refund for the salad and beer being off so that's fair enough.

On our first visit it was very busy, and I can understand why. We both had Greek dishes, which were delicious, and nice to have something a bit different. The menu had lots of great choices, plus a separate specials board, so we went back a couple of days later and went for the sizzlers. Wow they were good, and the meat was cooked to perfection. Definitely worth a visit. Nice beer garden too.

Try this place for lunch. You'll enjoy good food at reasonable prices, enjoy a fine selection of h be served by very helpful, friendly staff who fully understand the needs of their customers. We were impressed by their knowledge of dietary needs/requirements and could recommend dishes from the menu to our taste. A Specials Menu is available too, so keep an eye out for that. My wife and I didn't use it, but a very attractive garden provides extra space to eat or drink.

Lovely pub set in the heart of Church Stretton. Great choice of craft ales and lagers and a sensibly priced food menu. Its my go to pub whenever I visit Church Stretton.

Service was very good, food is superb (ordered duck sizzler which is available with a good variety of sauces, I chose reggae-reggae with the sizzler.) One of the best pub meals I've had for quite some time

Well situated. Nice staff, especially for breakfast! The room was too hot, and no tumblers were provided for water. We could hear stairway footsteps throughout the night. The bathroom was very nice.

Shopping experience ok. Not enough organic products!! Tesco's seem to have stopped doing a lot of organic. Very disappointing.

Our group of vintage vehicle enthusiasts (42 in all) had a great Thursday evening meal. We were all well looked after and the service was excellent considering it was such a busy night. Great food and attentive and very helpful staff who were well organised by Sarah, So helpful with some of our group who had special requirements, nothing was too much trouble, lovely atmosphere. Our second year here, look forward to next year

Lydia's reply to your rude reply, following her review. 09.50am 05.10.24 Hi Brent, Thank you for your reply. We never received any offer of refund in any form. I'm not a fantasist and placed the review 10 months after the event for two reasons: 1) I was so emotionally angry and upset that you were so rude causing my families Christmas Day disaster and subsequent cancellation of our home buffet on Boxing Day. 2) If I reviewed in January, customers would forget prior to booking Christmas 2024. I had to wait until booking closer to Christmas 2024 . The reason their is no Christmas Day at The Red Barn is because it was such a shambles 2023. Even in your reply today, you sware, didn't apologise and we still didn't receive any refund, which I'm happy to receive as a Gesture of Goodwill. Re my furure bookings, last month I booked a Christmas Day venue. We have attended Christmas Day there twice before. They have Christmas Day spot on. They are welcoming, polite, attentive and put the customer first. They would never dream of swaring at a customer, let alone wish they would break down. Your reviews will catch up with you and your trade. Your business suffers because of YOU. No Christmas Day this year - SPEAKS VOLUMES. My family and I would like to wish you a fabulous Christmas and hope you have resolved your stress and family issues you used as an excuse last boxing day last year. NO CHRISTMAS DAY VENUE - I'm a fantasist!!! Question Mr Catterson - Why did Nichola resign from your Security Company in June? I wonder!
