Been in quite a few times now since moving to Shrewsbury. It’s a proper British boozer with so many quirks- wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea I imagine but there is something quite special about it Shame they don’t do food here but there is a good sandwich shop round the corner in butchers row and the landlord and staff seem happy enough for you to bring it in as long as your buying drinks which to me is a fair deal… Been drinking the hobgoblin (very decisive ale) and the directors. The line up on taps wouldn’t be my first choice, you can tell it’s linked to a brewery. I love the little rooms they have dotted around the place- the ex ‘gentleman only’ snug, which has an amazing nostalgia and if walls could talk! Love sitting in here. I’m summary- great little pub, shame about no pub food (sandwich doesn’t cut it sometimes especially in this weather) and there are better venues for beer/ ale and ipa lovers. But still great.

Most pubs have been renovated, not the Loggerheads! It has listed status meaning it’s of historical importance. So it’s like a pub should be, friendly, unassuming, cosy and genuine. No food except rolls at the weekend. Excellent beer. Homely. Nice people.

It is hard to find a pub with more awards than this. A regular CAMRA Good Beer Guide entry. Regular Cask Marque and on the National Heritage pub list. No wonder Albrecht wanted to visit. We have been here a few times in the last 35 years. Great real ale selection. Hand a pint of Bank's bitter...excellent. Four rooms surround the central bar. Five real ales plus a cider. Well worth the visit. A truely historic pub.

One of the oldest pubs in Shrewsbury that still retains original features dating back to 1665. Although the pub doesn't do food, apart from fresh cobs on a Saturday, it has retained a fixture in the Good Beer Guide for at least the last 5 years (If not more).

I was told I had to write a positive review of this pub to regain admittance after six months - a ban originally imposed following a review critical of their haphazard and unpredictable closing times. I don't respond well to to demands that I consider coercive and manipulative - so here is a rating based on my correspondence with the management.

Visited Mike and the staff on our recent visit to Shrewsbury and found he’s pub and staff delightful. They went out of thier way to accomodate myself and my wife. The pub is quirky in its layout, giving rooms that were quite, private or you could enjoy the live music in the larger bars,if you wish. Glasses were very clean ( i always check 🤷🏻♂️) and the real ales a treat. Highly recomend Mike and team, i can honestly say, We cannot wait to visit The Loggerheads again. Unfortunately place has problems with time. If say last orders is 10:30, then it's 10:30 not 10:25 so you can close 30 minutes early on a Saturday night. My first bad review of a pub ever, after 45 years. The barman was just rude with no service skills. Never again. No matter what the landlord replies with. Mine is the truth.
USASHREW . 2024-04-24

Never again, bar person was more concerned with closing early then the correct time for last orders. On a Saturday night this is awful. Go somewhere else to guarantee a good night. Your reply is a joke. I point at the clock as it said 10:25, check your cctv again, the camera is on the left of camera, see my picture. Last orders 10:30 and closes at 11, thats what he said. If you just admitted it, then no problem but your reply sums you up. No wonder its empty these days, been drinking there on/off since 1983. Like I said dont risk at night out here, Try Nags. I can see previous reviews your opening times can't be trusted. My picture proves my review. Also this my first bad review for a pub ever! 45 years!

Been here a few times now, I love the old world feel and the random rooms to sit and have a drink in. It's pretty neat to sit in a pub thats been here for centuries, a cool bit of history. I also enjoyed seeing it recently on a haunted Britain series and this was way after the fact of visiting. The ghosts add to the atmosphere I think, a little extra company. The man behind the bar has always been nice when he's tended to us, can't say anything about other staff as I've never seen them lol. My favourite little spot to have an ale or a spot of gin in Shrewsbury. Nice place!

Have been to this pub on many occasions & have enjoy the atmosphere there. however last evening we arrived to find the most unwelcoming barman who appeared reluctant to want to serve us however he did & we sat down & had our drink. All of the time we were there he was tidying around the place which was fine. Then our wives arrived about 10pm, and were told the bar was shut. We highlighted to him that they were with us & he again reluctantly agreed to serve them & we had another also. We asked him if he was closing to which he mumbled that he`d serve us. then at 1025pm he calls to drink up to which we did. this whole visit was very uncomfortable & not as it has been in the past. A very unwelcoming & rude person. Dont open if you dont want to have customers !!!!

Have been to fox and hounds many times and received vouchers for the times we visited. Today, Sunday 5 January, 4 of us had 3 course meals and the bill came to £146.00. I asked them to add a £10 tip. I asked for the vouchers only to be told “we don’t do them any more, we have a loyalty card system. Would you like to sign up?” I said yes and my details we taken. I asked if the points today we be added to the card only to be told that they couldn’t because I’d already paid!! I asked to see manager who , in an off hand and uninterested manner, confirmed that I’d paid so I couldn’t have the points. Said I was disgusted with his customer service only to get a shrug of the shoulders. Disgraceful, unprofessional, rude, bad business sense and totally unacceptable. I own a restaurant in Shropshire and I wouldn’t dream of treating a customer who had just spent £146.00 and tipped another £10 that way. Will never go back. 07795517501 if you want to apologise and add points to a “loyalty” card
