The best restaurants in Lichfield West Midlands

Arrived here on Wednesday the 19th of March for a birthday meal . Various meals were ordered , and some starters,. Steak and ale pie 🥧 was perfect as was the burger meal ,balti dish & cottage pie. Everything was outstanding as it has been on all of our visits,.also they do a cracking pint 👍

Food was lukewarm at best, plus ordered a wrap with no mayo, unfortunately it came with mayo

Fantastic food and service, much better than the last time I went which was some considerable time ago. We had a large party of over 20 people from the Round Table and they couldn't do enough to make sure we were happy with everything. All the dishes were really tasty and full of flavour - 5 stars. Will definitely be back here again!

I’ve been going to the bowling green for years but I am quite upset with how I was treated on Friday night. Decided to go for a drink after a long week with my friends, get to the till to order and who I assume is the manager asks for my ID. I, being almost 22 years old, of course oblige as I know I have a baby face but from inspection the man decides that this ID isn’t mine and doesn’t look like me. Granted, I have dark hair in the photo as I had a phase where I dyed it black but it is still obviously me! He refused to let me have a glass of wine and said if I wanted a drink I’d have to go home and get my passport. I tried to offer alternative ways like bank cards, photo evidence but he wouldn’t have any of it and he was quite rude and blunt about it. Anyway we moved on from this and I got a soft drink but as my friend ordered two alcoholic drinks for my other friend outside, the man continued to tell me that if he caught me drinking anything but my soft drink he would take all of our drinks off of us and give no refund. At this point I felt quite upset and embarrassed and felt this was unnecessary! I understand the challenge 25, having worked in hospitality myself for over 6 years, but I would never have handled a situation like this. Just for reference I’m 21, turning 22 this year and have never been questioned on my own ID before. I understand the man may have just been doing his job but I felt this was really disappointing and it unfortunately placed a downer on the evening.

They squeezed us 4 in for the Saturday night at short notice, and were great to us. Service impeccable. I was particularly impressed with the allergies knowledge. The food was terrific too.

An excellent Sunday lunch meal. Exquisite tasting menu, lovely surroundings very helpful and friendly staff and totally exquisite food. Lii oh ed the quiet competence of the open kitchen. Not phased by our multitude of requests - thank you!. First time here, won’t be the last . Props all round. Highly recommend.

We were drawn in to visiting this bakery from the cakes, pastries & breads displayed in the window, which all looked very inviting. There was a sizeable queue of people, which suggested the place was popular. It only took a few minutes until we were served and the staff were friendly. My brother enjoyed his danish pastry, and the custard cronuts which my Mum & I had were delicious, some of the best doughnut-type cakes we’ve had! Would definitely return another time to sample more!

Awfull overcooked rice probably microwaved chicken tasted boiled then deep fried 3 dishes worst ever tasted. Vesta 5 star in comparison. Don't use expensive crap

Just had sweet and sour chicken and chips £9:80 definitely fried twice and not fresh very poor I will not be going again

Didn't really know many Chinese takeaways in Lichfield, so google'd mapped some that were on our route and this place came up. Rang them up and placed an order so it was ready for when we arrived. It was cash only and they did tell us this on the phone so wasn't a shock when we arrived. Ordered the beef chow mein in black bean sauce £6.70 Portion size was good, food was piping hot and tasted pretty good. Good food for the price.

I get together with all my family only 3 times a year due to distance. The first time is mother's day but due to that day being extremely busy in all eating places we either do the Sunday before or after to avoid disappointing service. We booked a table for 7 at 12 today and within 10 minutes had ordered our food. Three of us chose the carvery and collected our meals. At 1pm when the empty plates were collected we asked where the remaining four meals were and were told that due to some issue with orders reaching the kitchen they would be another 5 to 10 minutes. 20 minutes later I went to pay the bill as the promised meals had still not appeared and my 7 year old grandson was starving. The staff apologised and only charged for our drinks but I'm afraid they have completely ruined my mothers day lunch for all of us

Seems to be going down hill the last few visits here looking for somewhere else? Definatley not the chippy it used to be.👎

Really nice place to eat, we was a group of 15, I ordered mixed grill, steak was a bit over cooked for me i told the waiter who didn't waste any time in ordering me a fresh which came in minutes just how I wanted it.
