We stayed here from the 25th of October to the 29th and wow it was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. We booked two rooms and in one of them the bathroom fan wasn’t even working. We usually book with premier inn instead of holiday inn or someplace else because it normally has better quality however this one was very disappointing. There were cracks and damp everywhere. And on our final night there were around 20 larger mosquitoes as well as several other bugs there. Which leads to my point on customer service. It was abysmal. On our final night we came back at 2/3am and was so tired. So seeing those bugs was especially horrible. We asked the receptionist for help and she was rude and useless. We asked to switch rooms but she said no, we then asked for something to get rid of them like bug spray or disinfectant to which she said no. She then told us it was our fault for leaving the window open however we received no warning when we came so how would we know to keep the windows shut. We then had to spend half and hour using tissues (which they didn’t refill, we had to get a pack from reception) to catch and kill the mosquitos. Another thing that really irked me was the fact that we asked our room to be cleaned twice and both times they didn’t do it. We then asked a third time to which they said our room was too dirty. Honestly it may have been a bit messy however they could’ve at least changed the bins and refilled the tissues. This hotel was truly a nightmare and I have many more complaints but overall the staff were rude and unhelpful. I especially hope that the lady who was working at 2/3am on 29/10/24 gets dealt with because I have never met a ruder worker. For the amount paid I will very much be moving onto holiday inn or something. Very disappointed. I wish we took photos of the bugs but unfortunately it didn’t come to mind while we were catching them.

I took my mother and kids there for a birthday recently. Having eaten there a number of times, I was not disappointed again. The food is tremendous - a hidden gem. Lovely atmosphere and lovely friendly staff. Good beer, darts, pool and sports you can watch on one of about 8 TV’s and screens. Can’t rate the place highly enough.

We have been using this venue for ages and it never fails to please. Some time since our last visit and now under different management but good and service were as good as ever. We understand that hospitality is suffering and the menu now offers a reduced choice but no real problem. The only criticism is that the dining room was so cold! Several diners wore their overcoats throughout. We will return in warmer weather. Otherwise five star.

Sat outside because we had our dog with us. Ordered a bacon sandwich, flat white, carrot cake and a frappe. We got a cold bacon sandwich in tin foil no plate or sauce, cold coffee, nice cake and a lemonade! When we said we ordered a frappe barrista said they didn't do them so bought a lemonade out. £14.75 ! Rip off, won't be returning.

We went as a family of 6 for the roast but when we got there they had run out. They had also run out of rhubarb crumble. But then that was our risk for choosing to eat at a later time rather than lunch. They had also booked us in for 12pm instead of the requested 5pm but we were able to get in so no harm done. However, all our meals were good. Starters (calamari, mushrooms chorizo skewers) all ok. Mains (lamb, sea bass, steaks) all great. Portion wise - spot on if you have 2/3 courses. The service from Arran was exceptional! He was great and transformed a decent afternoon of food into a really lovely experience. He also recommended a really great wine (primitivo). A couple of us opted for dessert martinis - the salted caramel ones were amazing! (Arran said he'd made these himself). So, overall, would visit again. Might ask if we can request Arran though :-)
