The waitress was really polite and efficient and coped well when somebody is front of me, an impatient and perhaps a little rude customer was speaking. I was impressed. The hot chocolate was good. I went there to meet with a tutor and, although there was a friendly buzz of chatter and sounds, it was quiet enough for me to be able to listen to the tutor. Thank you.

I went with my 18 year old son to use up 3 hours on a weekday lunchtime. The library of games is gargantuan! There is nearly everything here a seriously knowledgable games nerd could want, and everything is in mint condition. There are games you can play for a couple of ten minute rounds like Kingdomino or Kluster, there are games that can take 3 or 4 hours like Root and Gloomhaven, everything well known and classic is there if you want to drop in but have no inclination for learning, and all the very latest release names that will be flung around in specialist circles are there too. There is pretty much everything for young and old alike. The owner who served us was lovely, as was the food (and turbo cheap too). I am DEFINITELY going back LOTS. P. S. Try the cooperative game Kraken Attack. It is many times more complex than t or box art would have you believe and completely nails to win as a team of just two.

As an East-Londoner on a visit down to Dorset, had to have a Fish and Chips before we head home. And wow we were amazed at the Fish and Chips down this way! We had a favourite Fish and Chip shop up in Norfolk, but boy, the key word there is had! Somewhere Else Fishy has just taken the trophy for the best Fish and Chips I may of ever had, I couldn’t get it down me quicker! Additionally, my mother is gluten-free, and they even had gluten-free options which she found delicious! If we’re ever back down here again, this will be our go to! The nicest people in there too!

During my 2 week odyssey, this was by far the best lunch - delicious. The location's amazing too - I don't think I've ever eaten in such an old room before!

We took friends who had never eaten like this, so their “Wow! Let’s do it” attitude was warming. The whole place oozes refined dining and quality. We had the front table, which could not have been more dramatic, with the Abbey framing the entire window. Amongst us were a chef and an oenophile; neither was let down on any level. She described the Scillian wine as “Peasant wine of the highest calibre!” I couldn’t agree more. Delightful! She also pointed out how refreshing such a wine was; we all understood what she meant. They probably make the best Bloody Mary in England, and if they ask you if you want it spicy, you simply have to say yes! There is not enough room to describe every dish we had, but all 13/14 were sublime. All staff were terrific, and Isabella was outstanding.

Booked for Sunday lunch with family. When I booked I asked for raw carrots for a member of the party. Unfortunately they bought out cooked carrots and didn’t have any raw carrots🤔 The lunch was good, hot and tasty. Cauli cheese was delicious. They offer small, medium and large portions. When we visited it was turkey or beef and you could have some of each. Service was good, nothing was too much trouble. This is a family run pub. Chefs are Father and Daughter and their children serve you. For young people they were very considerate. However, when we ordered dessert, the cream was extremely thick and tasted off. I asked if it was creme Fraiche they said no so we sent it back to the kitchen and were told sorry the cream was off and they weren’t sure where it came from! Who is doing the stock checking here? This has put me off returning. Shame because the pub has a nice atmosphere and the rest of the food was good and we should be supporting local businesses. You decide…..

Good Second Hand Bookshops are becoming rarer than the books they sell. This one is a gem and worth a pilgrimage, take in a visit to the abbey as well! On the two occasions I visited shelves were stacked floor to ceiling, others were stacked on tables awaiting sorting. A great place to browse and discover an interesting book or two or more. This bookshop is mentioned in my 1992 93 copy of Drif's Guide to the Secondhand Bookshops of the British Isles. You can also take a break from book browsing and enjoy what the small cafe has to offer.

We use this place reasonably often as it’s only 2 minutes walk. I don’t eat fish but my husband says it is good. The chips are well cooked, not too oily and flabby as are so many fish shops offerings.
