I went with my 18 year old son to use up 3 hours on a weekday lunchtime. The library of games is gargantuan! There is nearly everything here a seriously knowledgable games nerd could want, and everything is in mint condition. There are games you can play for a couple of ten minute rounds like Kingdomino or Kluster, there are games that can take 3 or 4 hours like Root and Gloomhaven, everything well known and classic is there if you want to drop in but have no inclination for learning, and all the very latest release names that will be flung around in specialist circles are there too. There is pretty much everything for young and old alike. The owner who served us was lovely, as was the food (and turbo cheap too). I am DEFINITELY going back LOTS. P. S. Try the cooperative game Kraken Attack. It is many times more complex than t or box art would have you believe and completely nails to win as a team of just two.

Somewhere Else Fishy Sherborne absolutely excellent. Great choice and versatule menu, beautifully cooked and reasonably priced. After suffering for years of awful chip shops we now have a 5 star establishment. Not only that but at weekends they sell fresh fish too!! Fabulous.

Food was outstanding, staff were wonderful and attentive would recommend 1000/10, the chefs are so talented. I am a vegan and the food was delicious, they catered to me so well. If you’re in the area this restaurant is a must (even worth it if you live far too).

Fantastic 5 star experience today at the Cross Keys for birthday lunchtime with some friends. The wine (Appassimento, Puglia 2023) was just superb. The food was a joy. We asked if some of the menu items could be offered as an array of meze to share, and it was all done tastefully and beautifully. Service was attentive and just right. The restaurant space and ambience are comfortable and attractive - decor, design and lighting all lovely. All round, a great, long ,leisurely lunchtime which was joyous. Most definitely recommend.

👍Good quality, perfectly cooked breakfast 👍Spinach portion in a full english ( loved it!) 👍the coffee Needs work : customer friendliness Needs work : Signboards on entrance. You wouldn’t even know the cafe exists unless you are really looking for it! 🥇the food presentation - clearly shows the chef’s passion for his work. Keep it up

Booked for Sunday lunch with family. When I booked I asked for raw carrots for a member of the party. Unfortunately they bought out cooked carrots and didn’t have any raw carrots🤔 The lunch was good, hot and tasty. Cauli cheese was delicious. They offer small, medium and large portions. When we visited it was turkey or beef and you could have some of each. Service was good, nothing was too much trouble. This is a family run pub. Chefs are Father and Daughter and their children serve you. For young people they were very considerate. However, when we ordered dessert, the cream was extremely thick and tasted off. I asked if it was creme Fraiche they said no so we sent it back to the kitchen and were told sorry the cream was off and they weren’t sure where it came from! Who is doing the stock checking here? This has put me off returning. Shame because the pub has a nice atmosphere and the rest of the food was good and we should be supporting local businesses. You decide…..

Good Second Hand Bookshops are becoming rarer than the books they sell. This one is a gem and worth a pilgrimage, take in a visit to the abbey as well! On the two occasions I visited shelves were stacked floor to ceiling, others were stacked on tables awaiting sorting. A great place to browse and discover an interesting book or two or more. This bookshop is mentioned in my 1992 93 copy of Drif's Guide to the Secondhand Bookshops of the British Isles. You can also take a break from book browsing and enjoy what the small cafe has to offer.

We use this place reasonably often as it’s only 2 minutes walk. I don’t eat fish but my husband says it is good. The chips are well cooked, not too oily and flabby as are so many fish shops offerings.

Don't understand the reviews or the hotel's self description. We had 5 small plates between us: duck leg - very tender,as if slow cooked, but unbelievably salty/inedible; bream - very slightly overdone, which was acceptable, but very small piece & came with kale, also incredibly salty (why was it pre-salted anyway?). Stuffed peppers, greasy & filled with a very unappetising sludge- not sure what was in it. Fourth was a dish of ''deep fried new potatoes with sea salt, truffle oil & parmesan'' - dry to the point of inedible, incredibly salty, & no noticeable truffle taste. Lastly, ''fritto di portabello fungi'', ie. slimy mushrooms, which didn't work well with the taste of tarragon, in a very heavy batter. Waitress (very nice girl) said we weren't the first to complain about the saltiness. And I should add that my partner, recently in Florence & not usually one to complain (she's a ''glass half full person'' apparently), pronounced that there was nothing authentically Italian about this quite poor food. Wine was OK, but overall, for 94 quid, the whole experience was unhealthy & depressing.
