This is one of best places to eat I have ever experienced.

Another lovely evening spent at the Green. This is our go to restaurant for something special. The food is always fantastic and the staff are always on the ball. And nice to see the restaurant full on a Tuesday night. Dorset crab brûlée to start, followed by fillet beef and duck breast. Desserts were Dorset apple cake and beetroot and ginger sticky toffee pudding. All perfect.

Came here for dinner with a life long friend. Warm and welcoming atmosphere despite being quiet midweek. Lovely decor and nice to see linen on the tables although our flowers had long past their best … that did just make us laugh. Friendly and efficient service. Two fixed price options only and went for for the two course menu rather than three, but disappointed that my first choice turned out to have an additional £15 supplement which seemed a little top heavy and swayed my choice to something I wouldn’t normally select. Food was good but not inspired. Perhaps would have preferred individually priced dishes and then I would have had my first choice and skipped a second course which I only ate because included and the left feeling rather full but slightly underwhelmed.

Decent lunch. I would have preferred a bit less of the “brulee” and a bit more crab meat, maybe with a bit of a citrus twist. We saved our bread and butter that came out at the start as it does need that. The meat (chicken and duck) were good quality but maybe lacked a bit of seasoning. Fries were tasty.

A wonderful experience! We had the 3 course lunch and every course was faultless. The freshest fish, perfectly cooked for starters and mains and delicious desserts rounded off a wonderful birthday treat. The welcome was warm and genuine. Service very efficient and a good break between courses meant we didn’t feel rushed. A huge thank you to all staff and many congratulations to the chef patron for perfecting a varied and interesting menu expertly executed. Highly recommended, only regret is that we live 200 miles away.

I came across this restaurant by chance when in Sherborne. The food was absolutely delicious. I had a starter and main dish. The duck was superb - so tasty and delicious. The service was really good too. I will come back again with my husband next time. I haven't tasted such delicious food in a long time. 😊

Interesting well prepare food. The crab starter was excellent but needed some bread with it. My hake was a bit overcooked, but otherwise good. My cheese platter was a bit ordinary, but well presented. Service was excellent, low key and friendly.

Fantastic meal - everything delicious but the highlights were a goats cheddar mousse, lamb with Jerusalem artichokes and a beetroot sticky toffee pudding. Lovely vibe - busy but you can hear each other speak, great art on the walls and friendly service. Wish I lived nearer for this to be my local!

Convenient location at the top of the high Street in Sherborne, and for an evening meal, the parking just outside was very convenient. The menu had been carefully thought out and the staff were very knowledgable and able to give us insights on any of the dishes. For starter, I had the crab brûlée and my wife the goats cheese mousse. Both were very tasty and beautifully presented. The mains were both just as good with lovely sauces ( scallops / John Dory and Plaice). Those with a big appetite may well be advised to add a side order. To finish, I had the excellent Crème d'amard tart with strawberries and my wife enjoyed her fresh mint tea with petit fours The team of staff working there are all delightful and bearing in mind the central location and cost of food, we thought it was very reasonably priced. We will certainly be returning.

Cannot recommend highly enough. We planned a special evening at The Green, and the team there - a particular shout out to Gabriela - simply went above and beyond to make the night perfect. What a great little restaurant. We had the crab brulee and the pink veal for starters both very good. for mains we had hake and the chicken breast once again both very good. the sauces are excellent and make the dishes.

Not a cheap restaurant, but not expensive either. 5 of us ate for almost the same as Sunday lunch in a pub. The food is unbelievable. I had Scallops and Jon Dory on a bed of seafood risotto. To die for? No, I'd kill for it. It was amazing. 3 of our party had the Hake. My daughter asked her partner (a chef) how well prepared it was . He said it looked perfect. The service was friendly and excellent. I will probably go again. I rarely give 5 stars. For me. 4 is excellent and gives me room to manoeuvre. But this place needed me to move up to 5. One of the best meals out I have ever had.

We had a table booked for 7 and arrived on time at 8pm to a half empty restaurant. During ordering the male waiter appeared to have difficulty hearing the orders and we had to repeat them which was, of course fair enough. Later when there were only 2 tables left (none near us) we were asked to keep the noise down for the sake of other diners. We might have been animated but we do not consider we were making unreasonable noise for a Saturday night after 8pm on a large table. Not everyone in Sherborne is in the Third Age and we were just a large group of fifty somethings. Being told to be quiet was a first for me in any restaurant and was annoying and really spoiled the mood, but later when one of our table did not receive their main course the waiter had the rudeness to indicate that his error was due to our noise during the ordering process. This was extremely surprising and rude coming from our server when it would obviously be incumbent on any remotely professional waiter to ensure that they had the right number of mains ordered for the table. We'd not expect servers in a restaurant of this type and quality to blame guests for their own shortcomings. While frankly wanting to leave at this point we stayed for coffee and desserts but by this time the experience was soured. The food was very nice but for an expensive special outing you would not expect to be made to feel like you are the problem. I have had several other very nice meals at the Green but this experience has really put me and co -guests off. A real shame. Will be likely to look elsewhere for future special meals.

What a lovely surprise 30th meal for my partners birthday. Gabriela is such an amazing host, couldn’t thank her enough for all her help with organising. The food was outstanding! A wonderful lunch here with family a couple of weeks ago. We all had the pork belly with a local English wine, both were delicious! The restaurant has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the staff are attentive, friendly and know their stuff. Thank you very much, we will be back :)

Another divine meal at the Green, always fresh, locally sourced, inspirational food. The service was great, Tom and his team are wonderful.

High quality food and well thought out flavours and menu. The quality of the food and attentiveness of the staff is matched by the price so it's not a budget joint. Relaxed atmosphere with low music and medium lighting suitable for a romantic or family meal. Will be going back on special occasions. We travelled to Sherbourne by train and the did the 8-10 minute walk to the restaurant. There is a pub over the road that's pleasant enough to meet up beforehand with friends etc and have a drink.

My daughter who is coeliac was treated like a queen. A huge thank you to all the staff for the care and attention and for her special menu.

Tom and his Team serve up delicious but not pretentious food in a welcoming and fresh environment. The Monkfish, Fillet of Beef and Passionfruit Crème Brûlée were out of this world!

The food and ambience is excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is advisable to book a table as they get very busy.

The Green was recommended to us by friends and did not disappoint. Service was excellent and although we arrived early we were easily accommodated. Our choice of the 3 course lunch proved perfect. We ate Sardines Escabeche and Goat Mousse with Pickled Pear Starters then Free Range Chicken and Lamb Rump Main Dishes followed by Passion Fruit Crème Brûlée. It was all delicious with our selection of Sherborne Rose and Albariño wine. I have to say the Rump of Lamb was outstanding. We’d started our meal with a Negroni and a Mocktail and finished off with Green Tea. There’s lots of local parking and the restaurant is easy to find. We’d highly recommend The Green.

Will keep this brief. Outstanding food, fantastic, friendly, quietly attentive, knowledgeable staff. Menu changes daily, lots of local produce but if the fillet is on then don’t miss it. Butter soft and loads of flavour. Great selection of wines at reasonable prices. Cannot fault the place.

Staff are welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. The menu offers a number of delicious options to suit most pallets. The crab brulee starter was excellent as were the lamb and guinea fowl. We all enjoyed the food - my brother had the pork terrine from a nearby supplier, which he enjoyed very much. I had the Dorset Crème Brûlée. It came with a crab and Parmesan twist and the whole dish was absolutely fabulous. Full of crab flavour, and very fresh. For main, we all had stuffed guinea fowl, which was equally good. The flavours of the vegetables were well matched with the chicken. I had cheese for my dessert, a healthy portion that I couldn’t finish. My brother had the crime brûlée and my sister-in-law had the Mille Feuille. They both thought they were delicious. All in all, the food was excellent. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel very welcome. If I lived in Dorset, I’d go back often.

Visiting Sherborne with friends we thought we'd try lunch at The Green. We were not disappointed. We all went for 3 courses and all decided, we would definitely come back again.

1st time we have tried The Green and we will definitely be back, in fact we booked for November before leaving. The food was very good, well seasoned and beautifully presented, bravo. Myself and my Husband have been wanting to try here for a long time and it didn’t disappoint, the food was exquisite and at a reasonable price too. We had the fillet of beef which was cooked to perfection .The service was also fantastic, the chef made an appearance too which was lovely. You can tell the whole place has a passion for food, we will definitely be returning soon. The best meal i’ve had in a very long time, thank you !

Wonderful place, lovely attentive staff - amazing food! Still trying to figure out the marinade of the olives! We took my mother in law for her 70th, our first time. Highly recommended!

We visited for a special birthday lunch and the meal could not have been better. First impressions were great as the staff had our beautiful table in the window and a bottle of champagne ready for our arrival - and the restaurant walls are decorated with interesting artwork. The six of us each had 3 courses and all the food was outstanding. Beautifully presented, interesting dishes and all delicious. The duck main and passion fruit crème brûlée were particular favourites. The service was faultless - professional and prompt, yet friendly and relaxed. The Green is excellent value for money and we would strongly recommend.

After hearing lots of great things about this place, I must admit I was vastly dissatisfied. We walk in, get sat a table. Great! First thing I notice is a plug completely exposed. Then the kitchen and the waitress had no idea how to deal with a sulphite allergy which one member has and asked her what she could eat! Then when food came out which the 'chef' said was ok for her to eat, she had a reaction to it. we witness them turn down a table of 2 at 8pm when there was plenty of tables unreserved. The tables aren't in great condition, very worn out. Even the chair I was sat in was warping, felt unsafe. Food was ok, not great. Rather go elsewhere in the future. Not visiting again. Glad I couldn't get a booking prehand.

Lovely food, great service ,easy parking ( in evening) only problem was the staff/owners seemed very stressed almost like they were 2 people short on serving staff.

I now need to go through all my restaurant reviews and downgrade them a star, because I can't award 6 stars to The Green. The restaurant was near full at 7pm, service was being run by 2 of the most professional waitresses I've seen in the UK. But then the food, it was totally exceptional, leaving all other provincial country restaurants in the dust....course after course, all totally perfect. Thank you The Green.

We have just had the best meal and a great overall experience for years in a restaurant. Superb food, beautifully presented and such quality. We are not local but we will be back when we are next with our relations. An absolute gem. You must book for the weekend and the fish dishes were excellent. Highly recommended.

We had a delicious lunch here on Friday. The green is a delightful restaurant with wonderful, beautifully presented and cooked food - the sign of a very good chef. A varied and excellent menu selection and wines and sensible price point makes this a must. The staff are vibrant and attentive and the setting is adorable!
