Lovely food in a lovely setting, a favourite in Lyme.

Attended a Tapas Cookery class. Ed & Giselle were wonderful hosts, it was a very relaxed, fun and (most importantly) delicious day. Have recommended the experience to several people as gifts. Perfect way to spend a Sunday.

Had a fabulous evening here on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The warmth and welcome of the place was fantastic and despite not having booked, we were made very welcome (a party of 19 was about to turn up at any minute as well) The staff were engaging, knowledgeable and polite. Owners Ed and Giselle were charming and our waitress, Emma from Manchester was great fun.) The food – small Tapas plates, was amazing. The Pig Cheeks with Prunes and Sherry, Chicken Skewers with Micro Herbs and Yoghurt, Cod Cheeks in Tomato Sauce and the Canaries Style potatoes with Mojo-Rojo Sauce – were delicious. The Burnt Cheesecake with Cinnamon Apples to finish was divine – you must try to pay them a visit.

Undertook a Paella Cooking Course - what a fantastic day! The instructional process is relaxed, informative and fun, one of the best cookery courses I have experienced. Ed and Giselle are both passionate and enthusiastic about Spanish cooking, which comes across in abundance during the course. Highly recommended. will definitely book another Spanish cooking experience as well as booking a table for dinner.

Fantastic tapas by the brewery in Lyme. Great service and incredible food

Popped into this lovely Spanish themed tapas place for a quick lunch while walking the dog. The place was empty which rarely bodes well, but oh what a joy. We had the butter bean, chorizo and smoked sausage stew with bread and olive oil and a bottle of light Spanish red and it was utterly delicious. Finished with a raspberry and almond frangipane and a salted chocolate brownie for me. We also walked out with a couple of tins of Spanish paprika. So it begs the question 'how is it this place is empty, ever!'. The stew was a revelation of flavour with the smoke coursing through the dish like an Argentinian BBQ, the beans, which actually I have struggled with eating in my life were delicious and really held the flavours of the spicing perfectly. Normally I would take a photo, but I was way too busy to think about that while my taste buds were being so wonderfully tickled. Oh and they do classes also if you fancy recreating some of the tapas dishes on offer.

Go! It's fabulous, with delicious food, friendly and engaging service and a warm atmosphere. We felt lucky to get a table on an impromptu visit and wish we lived closer!

Amazing family owned tapas restaurant with impressive choice off unique alcohols (ice cider, dessrt wines, sherry, and more). I highly recommend this restaurant, not only because of delicious food, but also because of its cosy atmosphere.

Wonderful atmosphere and attentive service at the restaurant, food and drinks both came out very quickly. The food was delicious - varied menu so there’s something for everyone at great prices. We were celebrating a birthday when we visited and the staff made it extra special. Would highly recommend booking in if visiting Lyme Regis.

We love this place and return every year, it offers very local, original, fresh and tasty tapas, lovely service and atmosphere!! My stand out dish was the smoked sardines in a creamed nut sauce and herb oil…delicious!! Oh and the Hake!! Can’t wait for next year!!

Superb food, good vegetarian options

This place has a nice atmosphere and I enjoyed a really good charcuterie lunch. the sell beer from the brewery across the yard at the same price, which I though was most commendable.

I would have missed this place completely, as it’s in between the two main shopping streets in town, and boy would I have been missing a treat. With its delicious (very authentic) tapas and fabulous cocktails, this cosy little restaurant is well worth a visit. Charming staff too. The Prawns pil-pil were the highlight for me…I felt like I was back in Spain…but my wife enjoyed the croquetas more…but everything was good. This will be top of my list for next time we’re in Lyme Regis…and I will probably try to sync up my visit with one of their cooking classes - I’ve always felt scared to try making paella but I would bet that fear will evaporate after a class here.

Came for my sister’s Birthday on a busy Friday night with the rest of my family. The service was fantastic, really speedy and super friendly. All the tapas style Spanish food was delicious and flavours were amazing. The atmosphere/decor was great too. Honestly can’t fault it. Completely deserving of their reputation. Wish I’d gone sooner. Anyone reading this should go.

A faultless selection of tapas in wonderful surroundings. The service and ambience were outstanding too. We would not hesitate to return, and cannot recommend the Strawberry Tree highly enough. Congratulations to all involved.

We love tapas, and nobody does tapas like the UK. We have been to San Sebastian and their tapas was just curled-up sandwiches on the bar! Ergo, we have had tapas all over the country and the Strawberry Tree is possibly the best ever. From the cool location, to the warm welcome, to the delicious food, this was a delightful evening. The standard menu looks a little light compared with some but don't be put off because there is a specials board (rare at tapas restaurants) which added another layer of flavour. We cannot pick a favourite dish because they were all equally good; though, personally, I am a huge fan of sardines so the two special sardine dishes were appreciated. We started with five small plates between us but had to order two more, as we were enjoying it so much. One tiny gripe is the repeated up-selling. We don't want any bread, okay?

Lovely food at the strawberry tree last night. It has a nice balance of being laid back without being slow. Enjoyed a Local beer with my meal too. Booking ahead is recommended!

Walked in on spec for lunch. Chose from the lunch menu, which, while not extensive, was interesting. Highlight was the Espinacos con Garbanzos, cinnamon chick peas with spinach. Everything we had was tasty and well presented. The post-lunch espresso was made properly as well. The young staff were a joy to deal with. No hesitation in returning next time were in L.R.

Fabulous little restaurant, food amazing, staff efficient and friendly and if we lived closer I know we would be regulars. Thank you for fitting myself and my daughter in on Saturday evening without a reservation.

The menu was not extensive but they did have daily specials. We ordered Both the smoked sardines and fried sardines to start. Both very delicious but small portions. We then had the pil pil prawns and the croquettes. The prawns were delicious but the croquettes were bland. I am not sure what was in them apart from mashed potatoes which was not well seasoned. Our final course was the meat balls Canarian potatoes and the aubergines . The aubergine dish was a super tasty but a bit too sweet. The meat balls and canarian potatoes were both disappointing. Not enough seasoning and the meatballs lacking in taste. We booked ahead and had good service but overall portions were very small and it was expensive. Some refinements are required to some of the dishes which were under seasoned. If I’m going to pay premium prices for food I expect each dish to be well seasoned and tasty.

Beautiful tapas in an amazing location - friendly, knowledgeable staff. Relaxed atmosphere, lovely touches like the canapés that were served with drinks . Front of house had exactly the right balance of attentive without being intrusive!

Discovered yesterday whilst hunting for a coffee in very busy lyme,,so glad we found you,amazing place,staff and nibbles,the Strawberry Tree charcuterie n cheese sharing platter,with bread was extremely tasty,we spend much time in Spain and I felt we were there,,perfect,,look forward to returning soon..

Found this purely by chance, and managed to book a table at short notice. Food is tapas style and done really well. Good selection of drinks too.

A lovely evening, excellent tapas and a rather lovely paella with a superb rioja and good coffee, warm summers evening. Could almost have been in Spain.

Incredible place, quality staff! A must-visit in Lyme Regis

Stumbled across this place in the back streets of Lyme Regis, what a great find, nice food, and cheerful helpful staff. Great music playing too.

We had a great lunch and nice coffees, with a couple of vegan options and a vegan cake. The outdoor area looked lovely too but was very wet today!

Excellent caramel latte and homemade cake. Sitting outside in the sun, pleasant surroundings. Very friendly hospitable staff. Highly recommend.

What a superb little restaurant!! So redolent of native Spanish restaurant, the serving staff were wonderfully friendly and relaxed. The food was EXCELLENT, we were there on Paella Night and it was delicious. The starting dishes, the desserts lovely accompaniments. Just superb!!

We went into a very quiet restaurant, very little attention from the scruffy staff. One girl was braless, in sloppy undone dungarees , very inappropriate. The owner was sat in the restaurant on a bench on her phone, not even recognition that she had customers...

We ate here last night, which was a paella evening. The food was lovely and the staff very friendly.

I should preface this by saying Spanish food isn't my favourite but this place is very good. What lifts it are the owners enthusiasm and the wine list They have some great reserva rioja.

Superb Paella Cookery Class - Loved it!! Ed & Giselle were SO passionate that it's infectious and makes it a delight to be there learning about Spanish cuisine and culture. The olive oil tasting included was a great (and enlightening!) bonus plus we loved the feeling of togetherness eating our creations for lunch - delicious. Huge thanks for making our weekend!!

I live about 200 miles away and I would dine here every evening if I could! The food is unlike anything else, it’s absolutely delicious, I cannot fault it. The staff are all so wonderful, and full of smiles, always there to help. All in all, the whole evening was a delight. I would recommend booking if living in or visiting Lyme Regis! X

The atmosphere and the food are excellent. We are both vegetarian and found plenty to choose from on the menu. We visit Lyme regularly and this is always the first place we try to book.

We booked hoping for an authentic tapas experience but unfortunately were left very disappointed. When we arrived a little early we were initially directed to sit outside in the dark on wet wooden benches for a pre-dinner drink despite there being room inside for us. There wasn't a lot of meat or fish dishes on the menu and 2 of those they did have were no longer available to order. I had some chorizo sausages and a hastily offered battered squid dish... my partner was left eating pretty much vegetables. There were big time gaps between each of our dishes being brought out and the potato dish arrived just as we were finishing. It all felt very ordinary and not one dish left us wanting more. £70 spent and we left .... It isn't proper Tapas, and is expensive for what you do get..... perhaps it was an off night for service and food but we won't be back to see regretfully.

Lived in Lyme Regis for 6 months and how the Strawberry Tree has evaded me I know not. A friend mentioned it to me on Thursday and, being a tapas lover and partner coming to stay, I booked on Friday. Wow, wow and a million wows. The food, ambience, setting, service in fact everything were absolutely top notch. A 5* tapas restaurant here in the coolest town in the country. It’s a marriage made in heaven. Booking late, we were at the bar and, despite a previous comment, it was wonderful. Attentive staff, superb food (black pudding was fab) and really busy but Ed and Giselle never took their eye off the ball. I’ve come across the term sombremesa before and it’s a perfect description of our evening - great food and company but above all that cosy little place to chat as you eat. And just to have another dig at an earlier comment, this was inexpensive tapas with no compromise on quality. It was the best tapas evening ever. We will not be strangers and Ed, as a fellow alumnus of Reading University, we must catch up soon.

Lovely restaurant, lovely setting, feels like you're in Spain. We had an issue with our booking. Called up and left VM to book. We then got a text back saying there was space at 715. We replied yes please. Arrived at restaurant and was told no booking. Showed them text and they said we should have called and not replied to their text message. How odd. They seated us, not at a table, but at the bar, facing a wall, wasn't what we had in mind and was disappointed, anyways they said sorry and took our order and offered us some olives which we accepted. We did ask to sit outside but apparently no mains out side, only drinks and bar snacks... Again, not sure why and just seems so backwards. Food was nice. Expensive dishes. The chicken dish was £12 and it wasn't even a full breast of chicken. And the fish was £9 and was really small. Portion sizes need looking at Vs price. And the olives I mentioned earlier were added to the bill without telling us! £4!! Really naughty!! Anyways we paid and left, we won't be going back. Whole experience left a sour taste in our mouth and disappointed with their reactions about the booking and how we should have replied via phone call to their text message. Not on! Loads of places to eat around there, do your research first!
