The landlord today served me the most delicious coffee. The best coffee I have had this year. The pub was fantastic. Lovely decor and spotlessly clean. I look forward to visiting again soon.

Needs to make clear that it is a restaurant if that is indeed what it is rather than a pub and take that stupid sign down from outside. You are told you can't have a drink there on a Saturday evening as all the tables are reserved. At least the manager was bleatingly polite.

We took friends who had never eaten like this, so their “Wow! Let’s do it” attitude was warming. The whole place oozes refined dining and quality. We had the front table, which could not have been more dramatic, with the Abbey framing the entire window. Amongst us were a chef and an oenophile; neither was let down on any level. She described the Scillian wine as “Peasant wine of the highest calibre!” I couldn’t agree more. Delightful! She also pointed out how refreshing such a wine was; we all understood what she meant. They probably make the best Bloody Mary in England, and if they ask you if you want it spicy, you simply have to say yes! There is not enough room to describe every dish we had, but all 13/14 were sublime. All staff were terrific, and Isabella was outstanding.

What a surprise treat! I visited this restaurant with family when staying in the area for a weekend away, and what a gorgeous find this was! Situated right in the heart of Sherborne (which is a charming town to visit regardless) this restaurant was just fabulous. The menu was fab, tapas dishes inspired by Italy but using West Country produce - what's not to love! Staff were friendly and accommodating, the drinks selection was vast and impressive and the food quality was truly 10/10. Would definitely be back if I lived closer! This place gets very busy over weekend so definitely book in advance, and also would recommend arriving for an earlier sitting rather than later before it gets too busy.

We stopped in for an impromptu lunch while visiting Sherborne on holiday. We were seated in the beautiful garden and informed that the menu was Italian small plates which we were delighted to hear - that being our fave type of food. We had about 5 small plates between us which we found enough, possibly because each mouthful was to be savoured. The gnocchi and arancini balls in particular were exceptional. I believe our bill came to about £75 with two rounds of drink which you can't complain about. I am at a loss to understand the really negative review of August on here - we found the whole experience delightful including the service. If we are in the area again, this will be top of the list for a re-visit!

Stayed for two wonderful nights in The Plume of Feathers where we had a delicious Italian tapas supper on the first night. The staff, led by Brad and Sophie, were lovely and couldn't have done more. Only four bedrooms but we stayed in the Hayloft which we loved and only recently finished. Probably not for elderly guests as the bathroom is downstairs. We will definitely return.

Lovely late lunch. Quality food and friendly, accommodating staff. The outside looks fairly drab and some of the Italian signage is slightly incongruous (are Wadsworths synonymous with Italian dining? No), but don't be put off, the inside is far, far better with modern styling in a traditional setting. Not cheap but where is these days.

Absolutely lovely location and menu. Our server was friendly and service flawless. Love the small plate options & the broccoli was soooo delicious! As the price for 2 people is displayed on the menu I would say that 2 x bruschetta & 2 x arancini would be better per head, as opposed to 3. And the risotto would benefit from a bit more seasoning in our opinion. The guy with the topknot wasn’t as personable, however, we would definitely recommend and we will back again.

Would give it 0 star if I could. Went for a lunch, the pony tail waiter was rude and pushy, he wouldn’t let us order what we wanted but kind of talked through (forced)us to order lunch set sharing plates. I thought it must be so good that’s why he was so pushy ,so we gave it a try, turns out it was just all pre-made breaded cheap stuff. The sea bass tasted not fresh at all. it taste like it was the freezer for months or overnight food. we also ordered a beef steak from the main menu, the beef meat tasted so off!! it came without any decoration,no garnish. I couldn’t believe it.I felt even asked for a “ medium rare”became a joke. That poor quality of beef doesn’t deserve to be asked how it wanted to be cooked.😂The mashroom was super salty just like other dishes. The chef loves his salt doesn’t he. Honestly the worst experience I had in Sherborne. I felt so disappointed as we chose this restaurant after reading Google reviews. such an overrated place. I honestly don’t know where the good pictures and comments came from. My friend was too polite to say anything in person but after few weeks I still feel I should to post this to let people know how is it really like. BTW The pony tail waiter was so rude in the end again when he passes the bill to us he kind of just threw it on our table.

We ate on a Sunday when the market was also in full flow. I had no preconceptions and if I’m honest, before eating, would’ve preferred a more standard Roast. However, what followed was a quite delightful and very special meal. After a cheery greeting FOH we were seated in a sun filled courtyard and looked after by attentive (but not over bearing) waiting staff. The food was a glorious smorgasbord of tastes. We each chose two dishes, and had more than enough to satisfy even teenage boy appetites. Beautiful earthy beetroot salad, melt in the mouth steak and perfectly cooked risotto. Each dish a really delightful taste of Italy, seemingly cooked with great care. With drinks and tip we spent about £30 per head and it felt like good value for money. Highly recommended.

Apparently when you go to this place a service charge is mandatory even though it is not stated as so on the menu/ wine list. The owner states he charges a service fee as part of his business model to cover operating costs like paying wages.

So this establishment clearly needs to review its business model. Either that or they operate to avoid excise duty and or corporation tax be making it a mandatory 10% service charge. Having previously been in the place during the summer and experienced poor service I refused to pay the service charge. So roll on to November some 3 months on I pop in for a glass of wine with my family. Whist enjoying a glass I get asked by the manager to go out behind the bar to have a conversation. I asked why and obliged the manager. He then stated that I was the person who was declined to pay the service charge. I then asked if the was mandatory and told we don’t state it is mandatory but this is our business model as it pays for the staff wages and operating costs of the business. His response was if you refuse the pay this then I want you to leave. Now the interesting part the menu does not say it is mandatory so from a legal perspective it means it is discretionary. All this does is mean reduces his VAT position on his sales. !!

Despite having an outside eating area, we decided to eat inside on one the hottest days of the year. It's made claear from the outset that there is table service only, and the menu is relatively short, but balanced and well thought out, with some excellent vegetarian choices. They recommend three plates per person, but the size of the plates varies enormously, and our choice of five between two was adequately filling. There's a good choice of regular branded drinks, but it's worth exploring the 40 or so Italian wines they have on offer - and they do a deal on a choice of any three. Service is brisk, the food excellent and although we stumbled in without any pre-knowledge it turned out to be a great choice. Highly recommended.

Lovely room with comfortable bed, marred only slightly by the pillows being too big to be able to sleep on and the bath being very high and thus difficult to climb into (two 70-somethings with slight mobility issues.) The people were pleasant, our service grumbles are to do with gift vouchers, which were Christmas presents. The vouchers couldn’t be used to book the rooms online, so that was done with cards instead. The restaurant bill was less than the voucher value but rather than give the remaining £40 value as a refund on the pricey rooms, or as cash, three bottles of wine were offered instead. We’ve looked them up and they retail at £9 per bottle. The other issue with the vouchers was that they only had six months on them, so not much time to find a suitable date in a nearly-fully-booked hotel. Overall, what was intended to be a lovely Christmas present, turned out to be an expensive sleepless night on an inconvenient date with three bottles of plonk thrown in.

A small hidden Cafe hidden down a side alleyway, delivers a big smile through it's food and warm welcoming hosts. They make delicious salads, homemade crustless quiche, large saucer style macaroons, homemade sausage rolls and vege rolls. It's the only place in Dorchester that i feel the food is good for you, cooked on the spot there that day, great coffee and choice of tea's etc. Seating is limited and very sadly due to it's size of premises maybe closed due to Covid, please double check. They have worked so hard and deserve all our support

Very friendly village pub with good quality, reasonably priced food. Delicious homemade biscuits/chocolates with coffee. Welcome dogs even when wet. Highly recommend.
