This is my local chippy and I am so happy it is ! These boys serve up the BEST fish and chips you’ll ever taste. Delicious, perfectly fried fish and chips with generous portions. Make sure you give them a visit !

Good Second Hand Bookshops are becoming rarer than the books they sell. This one is a gem and worth a pilgrimage, take in a visit to the abbey as well! On the two occasions I visited shelves were stacked floor to ceiling, others were stacked on tables awaiting sorting. A great place to browse and discover an interesting book or two or more. This bookshop is mentioned in my 1992 93 copy of Drif's Guide to the Secondhand Bookshops of the British Isles. You can also take a break from book browsing and enjoy what the small cafe has to offer.

Home cooked cakes , extensive menu , nothing is too much trouble because the staff are so friendly. Well done I cannot recommend it enough

Best carvery I have ever had. The new landlady is amazing and the staff are lovely.

The waitress who served us yesterday left our plates floating amidst the mess left by the previous customer. I genuinely thought she would return to tidy up the space, as it was in a dreadful state, but she disappeared for quite a while. In the meantime, I decided to fetch our own cutlery and clean up myself, as shown in the photo. The shop wasn’t busy at all—only one customer came in during our entire visit. When the three staff members eventually reappeared, they didn’t seem busy at all. Quiche and salad portion size was good, salad however had no dressing or seasoning.

After doing a bit of shopping down Sherborne’s high street and with a hour to kill before my bus arrived I decided to pop in here have a pint or two which wasn’t a hard choice to make. It was quiet in there which was nice and relaxing and I had two pints of Timothy Taylor’s (£4:40 a pint) which went down well. If you need to chill on a Wednesday lunchtime this is the place to be, staff are friendly and attentive and the few people that were there and had eaten seemed happy with the choices. I cannot comment on the food because I didn’t eat there but I’m sure it was fine, so give it a go!

Sunday lunch was delicious. Between us we had all the options (nut roast / turkey / beef) and all fantastic. Desert didn't disappoint either (coffee and cherry cake was particularly lovely and the brownie sundae was decadent). Service was good. Sunday lunch is highly recommended.
