The best restaurants in Teignbridge South West

We have been using this place for take aways for over 10 years although not so much recently after celebrating our anniversary! We decided to eat in and the food was very good with no 'after effects'. However, I was very disappointed with the loo which felt tired and in need of decoration... the door was filthy from years of use and a simple coat of paint would have gone a long way! It's all in the detail... we won't eat in again.

Gone are the lovely personal interactions there were when placing one's order, now just a tepid cup of machine made with a plastic (environment?) pot of long life milk. Not an improvement to a fave local haunt.

Amazing place. I take a lady with dementia and the staff are extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend to anyone. If you are vegetarian or vegan there isnt much choice but there is certainly more choice then meat eaters get in a vegetarian restaurant. Keep up the good work guys

Food was amazing. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly especially Lara, James and Julie they were all incredibly nice and kind.

Just visited today (Wednesday).. Toilets are disgusting! Really dirty floors..paper towel bin overflowing..dodgy door lock in disabled..certainly not being checked & cleaned throughout day. Bought gluten free food which after sitting in the carpark to eat has made me really ill..didnt help the fact the lady who served me served another lady with same gloves on who had just served her some bread. Also the gluten free cake I paid £7.00 for..has yesterdays date on. So all in all..not a happy visit.

I have been to The Dolphin Inn several times now and the staff are always very friendly and welcoming.There are homemade traditional pies and roasts offered on Sundays, and bar snacks during the week. I had forgotten my scarf and Sam had very kindly looked after it for me. I wish them a very happy and successful 2020!

Bovey Castle is certainly a beautiful and interesting location. However, with all their grounds parking spaces are a premium. Eventually, we were offered a space in a coned off area. A very well appointed building as your would expect for a Five Star Hotel. We began with an aperitif 'Gusbourne English Sparkling' which was superb. A absolutely delightful bar. Smith's Brasserie! Well, let's begin with the positives. Excellent welcome and staff were fantastic throughout our Birthday lunch. Extremely unimaginative menu to say the least. A nice enough starter. Perhaps would have expected freshly made mayonnaise, not from a bottle, in such an establishment. Pleasant enough bottle of rose, although there was a choice of ONE. My wife (Birthday Girl) and I opted for pasta dishes. Absolutely clueless when it comes to pasta dishes. Packet spaghetti with prawns (four small ones) and a Provencal sauce? Very little of it too. It is an Italian dish and the sauce requires mixing in the pasta. Tagliatelle, again from a packet, with some type of utterly non-descript cream sauce at the bottom of the dish. Totally unseasoned dishes. The cooking water needs to taste of the sea. Therefore, seasoned. No offer of cheese or pepper or pangrattato, nothing, and certainly no theatre. Huge improvements required I'm afraid to make an enjoyable dining experience. Dress Code: Expectations, as you would imagine were high. Staff were smart, but could have been better attired for such a hotel. Clientele: Lots of jeans and un-ironed tee shirts wondering around and dining. A pair of football shorts and dirty trainers at one table, others with feet on the chairs in the bar and the final straw was a couple arriving in towelling dressing gowns and flip flops. NO! Sorry. There's a time and a place and this is not acceptable. Unfortunately, this was a lunch to judge if a weekend stay would be appropriate for our anniversary and it simply is not good enough.

Very friendly staff and food was a great hit with the family 👍 we used it twice while on holiday for a week. Would definitely recommend this place.

Food is way too expensive here and very low quality. Pretty much everything is store brought and not fresh. Just a few minor changes would make it so much nicer. Even the rice with the curry is packet brought, it’s not that difficult to boil some rice! I know it’s a busy place because of all the holiday makers but having good quality food for the price they charge would make such a difference.

I can’t give a review on the food as it didn’t open at all ?? I was looking forward!! 😔 Always was closed when I stayed.

Breakfast very greasy to the point of inedible, Why do people think it ok to let dogs into an eating place jumping round people's tables??

Very limited selection of cakes when we visited but what we had were nice. Lovely old building off the courtyard

Visited this Wednesday morning 14 th August different cook from previous weeks, bacon roll simply awful, under cooked cold fatty bacon, also no coffee in machine owing to people filling up flasks with coffee and the staff actually helping them do it and they hadn't even bought a thing, shall be avoiding if same lad is cooking

A Saturday night, a busy night of the week. Ordered by app, collected within 10 minutes. Our food was above good and excellent today. Really good, crispy skin on fries, and food that you would happily pay more than double for in a restaurant setting. It's nice that you can get great food and sit on the seafront or harbour in this part of our world. Thanks Alis KS Teignmouth 💫💫💫💫💫

A random pop-in following a recommendation, I got the bus from Exeter on a Friday lunchtime and enjoyed the best sausage and mash you could wish for. It came with a whole host of vegetables. Most impressive, and many thanks.
