Although the breakfast was nice I did find it was lacking some essentials to make this a full English such as fried bread, black pudding, if I was being really picky the toast was barely toasted. All in all was it worth £11.45 in my opinion I thought it was overpriced for what it was.

We have lived in the area for over 6 years and driven past on many occasions. Today we stopped and what a joy. A view of the Teign estuary. I ordered a Coronation chicken sandwich which was sooo delicious I asked a member of staff if the sauce was bought in or home made. It was home made, so I was a little sad because I would love to have this whenever. Two minutes later, a pot of the sauce was given to me. Wow! I cannot express how much that meant to me. Then we ordered cakes: the sticky ginger is just sublime. I own a small hotel in Paignton and shall be recommending Jack's Patch to my guests.

I visited jacks patch on Wednesday 17th July and all I can say is it was wonderful. All the staff were amazing and helpful, particularly the blonde, short haired lady on the till and the lovely gentleman James that assisted me by clearing my tray from my table as I left. From what I could tell there were managers/supervisors that knew exactly what they were doing and had all the information my family needed about dietary requirements. Overall very impressive experience, well done!

Nothing except tuna for a vegetarian. Asked if they could do a cheese and onion chutney panini. You'd have thought I'd asked for lobster thermador! The chef had no intention of doing it. After arguing they agreed. But charged us for a ham and cheese panini. No discount was offered ! It came and it looked like they had scattered the cheese from mars ! Could hardly see it and certainly couldn't taste it ! It wasn't cheap either. Will never eat there again. Staff are ignorant, argumentative, and would rather stand around chatting.

This is our go to Coffee place after visiting (9-6-24) Paignton. Lovely Restaurant with friendly staff. Dan who cleans the tables always has a smile on his face and always stops for a quick chat before carrying on his work. The Otter at Plymouth should take note as there's no atmosphere in their Restaurant, the staff are always on edge, you're always being watched. Although to be fair when we went in this week the staff were a lot more relaxed and happy.....

Selected May 24 as the date of visit but we live in the village and frequent this garden centre probably more often than is healthy as it always means a visit to the restaurant. This is clearly down to the cleanliness of the restaurant, the selection of different dishes despite my asking for changes to the dish which is always complied with and finally and probably most importantly the staff from the manager down to those that clear the tables. Thank you all.

Many of us in the village are frequent visitors to Jack's Patch, which has always been a cherished spot. Regrettably, what was once a warm and inviting café now seems to have a staff that lacks friendliness and efficiency. As usual we queued endlessly and when we mentioned it we were given short shrift. It's disheartening to note that there was one individual, seemingly in a leadership role, who displayed a surprisingly abrasive demeanour. It's unfortunate that a couple of individuals can tarnish the reputation of our beloved garden centre. I notice there are lots of comments concerning this issue, hopefully Otters will take notice and do something about it.

Went for lunch on a recommendation. I ordered the food myself because I have coeliac disease. The menu board stated that they had gluten free and vegan options so I felt reasonably at ease. At the till I said I had coeliac disease and couldn’t eat gluten. This “seemed” to be registered by the lady taking my order. I asked if the pickle contained barley in the cheese and pickle sandwich. She wasn’t sure so offered me a plain cheese one which was fine and she offered to toast it. I also asked for chips but she said they contained traces of gluten to which I said no, this was not ok for me and I opted for a bag of Burt’s crisps. She also said I’ll double check with the kitchen about the dressing on the salad. I said if there is any doubts then don’t put it on. All seemed well until the toasted sandwich arrived. I took one look at it and decided to double check with the waitress that they had used gluten free bread. On her return to deliver the other meals I asked if they had used gluten free bread to which she replied no! To add insult to potential serious illness, when the waitress asked the till operator about my order she turned it all around on myself and said that because I had said brown bread when she offered me white or brown it was my fault because according to the waitress gluten free bread is only available in white. The question of whether I wanted white or brown bread should have never been asked!! Forget the lack of apology, to not accept responsibility or realise the consequences of poisoning someone with an incorrect meal is disgraceful and I question if they should be in the catering industry. Customer service totally lacking, when staff blame the customer for their error. I am so annoyed by the incident that I will be writing to head office. Clearly the catering department needs a shakeup judging by my experience and recent other reviews. Avoid at all costs if you have a dietary need.

Three of us met in the cafe for coffee this morning. Two of us found a table while the third went to get our drinks. It was just over 40 minutes later that she arrived at our table! Why, on such a (not unexpectedly) busy day was only one counter open? There were still huge, slow moving queues when we left. The coffee wasn’t worth waiting for.

It should be a really lovely place. It sells loads of different things, good quality products, inspiring plants, great displays. It’s clean. Everything looks well looked after…BUT THE NOISE! Not only is there a music system playing loudly but there are those blasted advertising monitors squawking out reasons why you simply must buy this product. The monitors clash with each other. They aren’t even spaced out. They go on and on and on continually. I couldn’t work in a place like that. As a customer it saves me buying anything because I can think with so much sound. I have to wear headphones it’s that bad.

The woman at the till spoke to my elderly relative so rudely and abruptly which took me aback. My relative of 86 years old had gone to get a table as he was a bit shaky so when we ordered his food- the woman said we can’t serve you as there are no tables. We told her that we had one and she said you are not allowed to reserve tables! No sign to say this, and the fact that he needed to sit down was ignored. I will never go back to eat here again and I’ve been going to jacks patch for 30 years. She was the most rudest, ignorant woman I’ve ever met due to her tone, sharp comments and no customer service skills at all. I show respect for everyone but this woman put me in a dreadful mood. We spent over £40 on our meals and drinks but we will not be back again. Disgusting service and she needs to find a job where she doesn’t deal with the public - who are nice to her!!!!

My wife and I fancied a garden centre day including lunch. We both ordered quiche with chips salad and coleslaw. We paid and sat at a table, within 3 minutes our food arrived, oviosly microwaved quiche soggy bottom and bubbling. I asked why there was no coleslaw, the table waiter said 'sorry Ill go and get some he returned with an apology saying they've run out. I eat a very bland quiche dry chips and a pathetic salad with some sort of dressing. When leaving I asked the lady behind the till as to why we wasn't informed there was no coleslaw, she just said sorry we've run out, I said but I've been charged for it, no she said we don't individually price items....I asked for some money back, she said she'd get the manager. He never came, the lady behind the till returned and went to a lot under the counter, asked how many plates I'd ordered, 2 I replied. She then gave me a pound back. 50p p for coleslaw then. So they do individually price items. Bland dry overpriced meal. Don't be going again.

Appalled by the breakfast. Unable to eat 2 items of the breakfast, I had them removed and asked them to be replaced. I was offered extra beans which I declined. No money was removed from the price even after having less on my plate. My mum who ordered the same, left half her meal due to it not being cooked properly. A raw sausage and microwaved tomato is not what we expected to pay for. We tend to come to jacks patch and eat fairly often. After today, we know to never return for breakfast again. A lovely little trip out down the road from where we live. We go here for a coffee and cake and play in the soft play area (which you have to pay for). The carrot cake is incredible - you must try. I don’t generally buy much from here it is quite expensive, however, they currently have all the Christmas stuff out and it worth a visit with little ones. They have brilliant displays with singing penguins, a Victorian winter miniature village and loads of lights and decorations. It really got us in the festive spirit. Out of season we have a wander around the fish Tanks. Items from the garden area are sometimes not a bad price in the sale and they have a great range of kids books. You can get some really unusually ones here too. But generally most items are expensive for what they are.

Maddeningly time consuming, training needed! The best thing about the food was the pickle in the toasty, chips were cheap and not cooked long enough. How ever our food was over an hour late but this didn’t bother us to much as time went quick it wasn’t until I went to order a side of chips to share and they came out before our original food order that we realised we had been waiting a long time. How ever the lady from in the kitchen came out and apologised sincerely and offered us a free hot drink but we had just been up and brought another one, how ever she did offer us some free cake each which we accepted and we got a bowl of free chips too, so made up for it. Also when for talking to another lady called Lina saw her name badge, she got us a new cup of tea which was also lovely! We had the receipt and was showed that the older man who turns out to be the supervisor was the man who served me had actually used Linda’s log in on the till! They also didn’t have a ‘minimum amount of children required’ like many other soft play parties we looked into. The servers were all very friendly and helpful but a special shout out to the lovely chef (who’s name I didn’t get unfortunately!) who checked on us regularly throughout the party to make sure we were happy with everything. We honestly could not have asked for more and would strongly recommend having a party here.

Firstly, everyone we met at the Garden Centre was extremely courteous and helpful. The display of plants and garden aids was excellent. In particular Maidenhead Aquatics is the most informed and supportive aquarium centre we have ever visited. The quality of fish available is excellent and the staff outstanding. Highly recommended.

No faulting the absolutely amazing stock of plants and garden accessories. We went specifically to visit cotton traders inside the garden centre but were very disappointed that it was no longer there - despite the sign outside, and Regatta was in its place. The shelves inside looked rather empty (perhaps it had just been an incredibly busy day?), just a bit disappointing - we usually stop for coffee, but were not enticed to do so this time.

Popped into Jacks Patch for a light lunch. This place has really gone downhill since we last visited. Unfriendly staff at the counter. Tables left uncleared and not wiped down. We just ordered sandwiches. The cheese was absolutely tasteless and the onion tasted very synthetic. The bread was just a cheap brand of bread. We left most of the meal -very tasteless and a total waste of money. We wont be returning in the future. We walked around the garden centre afterwards and it looks like this has also taken a nosedive - very expensive plants which didnt look very healthy. Such a shame it used to be a lovely place to eat.

When in the Shaldon area we invariably go to the cafe in Jacks Patch for breakfast on our way home. The breakfasts have always been excellent and this time was no different. The food was well cooked, nothing was dried out. A large breakfast is more than enough to satisfy most appetites and there is a choice of two or four slices of toast to go with the breakfast.

I have eaten in lots of of garden centres and yesterday I have to say this was the best one yet. Yes the food is supplied from a catering company but the restaurant staff seemed to work there magic on it and it was delicious. Lovely food, nicely presented.

Overall an enjoyable visit to this garden centre - good range of plants, unusual gifts and books, Disappointed with coffee. Do not mind paying around £2.50 a cup as long as it is drinkable. Rather strong and tasted grainy and of 'instant' variety - might be worth looking at? Unlike other comments support policy of not allowing dogs. In our opinion food and dogs do not mix!

My wife and I and two friends went to Jacks patch for lunch on Thursday 22nd February. No complaints about the food (Good Value) The young lady who took our order was very pleasant and friendly. The older lady on the till was a different matter when we asked her to replace a cup which was dirty she almost threw the cup at us when she returned the loyalty card she also rudely threw back on the tray.

After reporting a small misunderstanding regarding a promotional offer, I was amazed to receive a phone call from Joanna in Customer Care the very next day. As a gesture of good will my husband and I were offered a free lunch in the restaurant at Jack's Patch which was very much appreciated and enjoyable. This kind of treatment in my personal experience is very rare and would just like to say a big "thank you" to Joanna!

With the family visiting and having two small boys with us Jacks is an ideal place with its soft play centre keeping children amused whilst you have a morning coffee.

Came here with my toddler after many years of not visiting. Some really nice things on sale, lots of gift ideas! The garden section seemed quite large, and the usual foodie section you would expect in a garden centre.

An excellent garden centre with plenty of plants, accessories and gifts. Went here today (December) for our real Christmas tree and decorations. Whilst there we had a light lunch which was very good, the highlight was a Black Forest hot chocolate drink, yummy!

In a garden centre I want to find tranquility, lovely plants in good condition, knowledge and enthusiasm in the staff and a sense of beauty and inspiration. Unfortunately none of these are present in this garden centre. The policy seems to be to buy huge quantities of a very limited range of bedding plants, price them up by 400% more than other garden centres, let most of them die through disease or lack of water because there aren't enough staff to look after them, then sell them off at half price as 'Manager's Special.'

We came here today for afternoon tea and to buy some gifts. Large free car park and a clean and tidy garden centre. Our Afternoon tea was excellent, lovely sandwiches, scones, cream, cakes, fresh strawberries and tea. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, we were served by very polite and friendly staff. My Wife bought some gifts to take home, there was a sale on and she saved over fifty per cent!. The lady who served us at the checkout was friendly, helpful and polite. All the staff in this garden centre had excellent customer service skills. The food was so good were coming back again for breakfast. Recommended

We came for Sunday carvery when we visited Dawlish. The food was good, although the beef was a bit chewy. The Yorkshire puddings were huge. Service was quick and friendly and the Covid-19 set up was good. We would return if we came back to the area.

Bovey Castle is certainly a beautiful and interesting location. However, with all their grounds parking spaces are a premium. Eventually, we were offered a space in a coned off area. A very well appointed building as your would expect for a Five Star Hotel. We began with an aperitif 'Gusbourne English Sparkling' which was superb. A absolutely delightful bar. Smith's Brasserie! Well, let's begin with the positives. Excellent welcome and staff were fantastic throughout our Birthday lunch. Extremely unimaginative menu to say the least. A nice enough starter. Perhaps would have expected freshly made mayonnaise, not from a bottle, in such an establishment. Pleasant enough bottle of rose, although there was a choice of ONE. My wife (Birthday Girl) and I opted for pasta dishes. Absolutely clueless when it comes to pasta dishes. Packet spaghetti with prawns (four small ones) and a Provencal sauce? Very little of it too. It is an Italian dish and the sauce requires mixing in the pasta. Tagliatelle, again from a packet, with some type of utterly non-descript cream sauce at the bottom of the dish. Totally unseasoned dishes. The cooking water needs to taste of the sea. Therefore, seasoned. No offer of cheese or pepper or pangrattato, nothing, and certainly no theatre. Huge improvements required I'm afraid to make an enjoyable dining experience. Dress Code: Expectations, as you would imagine were high. Staff were smart, but could have been better attired for such a hotel. Clientele: Lots of jeans and un-ironed tee shirts wondering around and dining. A pair of football shorts and dirty trainers at one table, others with feet on the chairs in the bar and the final straw was a couple arriving in towelling dressing gowns and flip flops. NO! Sorry. There's a time and a place and this is not acceptable. Unfortunately, this was a lunch to judge if a weekend stay would be appropriate for our anniversary and it simply is not good enough.

Lovely food, classic pub grub but done well and reasonably priced. Liver was excellently cooked, slightly pink and soft and packed full of flavour. Service was good, we were checked back on, meals came promptly and cleared when finished. Nice cold wine and kids meals substantial for the price! Only marked down one star as bar is always busy (not a bad thing), but just makes it sometimes awkward leaning over drinkers to order food. However, always highly recommended for both food and drinks.
