Costa Coffee in Teignbridge

It's a pretty standard coffee shop, nothing particularly remarkable about it but the staff are reasonably friendly and service is usually fast. However it is very busy and noisy! I've always enjoyed the drinks here, although the coffee is pretty average and you can definitely get better tasting drinks elsewhere. Whenever I've sat in though, there has been a constant stream of people that come in just to use the toilet and then walk out leaving the door open (and sometimes shaking their wet hands all over the place), so there is a bit of a smell. It's not really the fault of the store but it is off-putting.

There at 4.30 today and no food available, although food in cabinets, and only coffee in takeaway cups. No explanation. Take it or leave it attitude. So left it.

Dropped in for a late breakfast on my own, it was just nice as a senior lady to be spoken to respectfully and served considerately by the two customer service assistants. Thank you

Toilets not working, would not top up our Costa card, tables cluttered.

We visited when caught in a shower whilst shopping in Newton Abbot and enjoyed our visit. Coffee very good and the staff very friendly. We sat in the front of the shop with a street view. The tables are the back of the store looked very dark and a little tired but alas it was clean. They are getting the most important thing right and that is good coffee. We will be back

Dark and gloomy needs an update . Some seat dirty need a clean .. Staff very good . Coffee flat white with a muffin very good

Rude and impatient staff. If you enjoy poor quality coffee at a marked up price and being shouted at from across the room then this place is for you

I love a Costa. Always. They were short staffed and the guy looked stressed but he handled it perfectly. My drink was the best Mocha I’ve tasted and the Bakewell tart is good as always. Thank you Costa!

Today, I had coffee with my friend at the Costa. I saw that they do not make the same presentation to everyone in their coffee service. They serve some customers carefully and some randomly.

Having used this store several times. The staff are fantastic - friendly and efficient and always smiling 👍

Great coffee but watch out for stale cake and biscuits cake felt like it had been sat there for days with a hard crust when should be soft

Food, drinks and service was lovely, we we’re enjoying it until a homeless man used the bathroom which was right next to where we were sat. Then used the toilet with the door open! After being in there for ages he left and said to the people waiting “you might not want to go in there for a while” laughed and left without buying anything, just using the cafes toilet instead of public ones. Then a foul smell surrounded the whole cafe and we had to leave!! Not impressed. Vile.

If the coffee machine had been working, then that would have been a bonus, other great thanks 👍

How this chain has the audacity to have 3 shops in the area is beyond me, the coffee isn't particularly great and the prices are eye watering. There are better local coffee outlets available.

The loveliest staff, we come very often and there is always a great atmosphere and they are always happy to help/answer any questions.

Very friendly staff and tend to provide much faster service than other coffee shops. Costa Coffee is usually great anyway but the staff at this shop make the experience much more pleasant.

Absolutely filthy. Tables wet and loads of empty cups/plates. Waited ages for someone to put mug onto my tray so I could take my tea away. Staff screaming over each other and people they knew in the queue and paying hardly any attention to the customers who were trying to order .

Hot chocolate was not very hot and the marshmallows were not toasted as advertised

When doing delivery orders please make the food when the driver gets there. Just had an order which was so old it must have sat in your store for atleast 20 minutes (going stale) before even being sent out for delivery.

I eon’t be coming again - in the time it took yo order a coffee I was addressed as ‘lovey’ ‘darling’ and - ‘my love’ - how very patronising and insulting can they get??

Coffees and sausage bap was good. The vegan so called bacon bap was not good.

Good friendly service, needs more deals

Great to see costa has removed all the surveillance qr codes from the tables making the whole place more welcoming and almost normal. A few nagging codes still around but absolutely nothing mentioned by the staff about 'having to' do it. No hassle with no masks so tick there. Lovely coffees, hot, two members of staff working, very friendly. Tables and whole area very clean. Good job for a quick coffee out of the afternoon heat. thanks

Theres a binmanesque bully who works here and comes over and sets time periods for how long you can sit inside and actually stands by the door staring at you as your designated coffee time runs out, as a little reminder. Told him I was complaining about his attitude and he introduced himself as the manager with quite an aggressive air, I was surprised to say the least!

We popped into Costa for a quick coffee and bun. Unsure why as Newton Abbot has a great choice of coffee shops and our previous experiences of this Costa have not always been great. Ok- first the positives. It was quiet- just a couple of people ahead of us in the queue. Now the negatives. It still took us an age to get served. The one person serving seemed very unsure- he was getting instructions from a colleague who was scrambling around on the floor. We ordered a Chai Latte for my wife which was overly sweetened and pretty much undrinkable. My coffee was only a decaf Americano which was fine...so perhaps giving this review a one star is uncharitable. No- the whole place was grubby. There was a very unhappy member of staff who was waving a mop around the floor which was like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. The toilets were absolutely foul. Clearly pre-mop-waving? I have absolutely no idea why this Costa is so poor. The ones in Kingsteignton and Tesco are excellent, as is the one at work. It needs a deep clean, the staff need to be valued and trained and quickly. Sorry.

Very disappointed with our visit, coffee and service whilst visiting Newton Abbot on Friday 14th February, wasn't busy but took a long time to be served, and after asking TWICE for my Coffee to be extra hot, it was only just luke warm!! Staff need more training, management definitely needs improving!!!

Costa has some incredible specials on time to time, December, there was a Black Forest Hot Chocolate and January had the Ruby Cocoa Hot Chocolate! Both absolutely incredible. I haven't ever been into this branch of Costa, so I decided to take my partner in for a nice treat day. Had to try the Ruby Cocoa Hot Chocolate, got us one each, an incredible brie and ham ciabatta and a nice slice of salted caramel cake. It was a rather quiet day, the calm before the storm of schools finishing, so we got in at a good time. The selection in the sandwiches, paninis and rolls looked incredible, couldn't decide at first! A great amount of selection food wise as well! The cakes on display was too tempting, hence the salted caramel one we got! The member of staff was very warm welcoming, smiley and very lovely, she really made you feel welcome. Spoke us through the new drink and gave great recommendations. This branch is a very nice place to sit, nice atmosphere. Very clean and tidy too. The drinks again were some of my favourites I have had! Same with the Black Forest Hot Chocolate, two of my favourites are specials, it's a shame but Costa have an incredible selection otherwise. Highly recommend this branch, really nice to pop in after a little look around town.

Arrived just after lunch to see all the chairs apart from 4 being up on tables, we entered anyway and ordered coffee which was stone cold and only to be told we had to have take away cups as everything was in the dishwasher!!? Disgraceful would never return to a place where staff having such a jolly with no care.

Not the best Costa Coffee place to visit. Not sure what happened with the flat white and cortado! Not as described in store! Staff probably need training or was it they were too busy cleaning the store an hour before closing, whilst having a cigarette outside packing away the chairs.Outside was messy, tables were dirty.

Despite queues, fast and efficient services

Voucher to use, always seems expensive so not my usual haunt. Prob ok for a coffee aficionado.

Good service great choice good coffee

I regularly visit Costa coffee shops and to be fair always enjoy the coffee and the service is normally very good. If I was rating on these things I would have no reservations in giving 4 or 5 stars. However of the 3 stores in the area non of them ever have a savoury selection. There are usually at least 3 or 4 different types of cake or sweet bar but never a savoury choice. Having said that there is always a vegetarian or vegan choice and I would like too point out that these are both choices not requirements because of a health issue. I visited in the hopes i would have lunch with my friend no such luck. Please address this!

A smaller more intimate Costa outlet in the pededrianised area at he top end of Newton Abbot town centre. Local shops and a undercover market area to browse in. Typical Costa offering, establishment clean and tidy good staff and we'll presented. Small, so gets busy at periods so seating can be limited, both indoors and outdoors. If you particularly want a Costa coffee it is as good as any. There is no shortage of cafés etc in the town so no problem getting your caffeine fix

Visited Costs Coffee in Newton Abbot for a Simple cup of filter coffee, but we were disappointed as they only had enough for one cup and we required two. We could not believe that a dedicated coffee shop could run out of coffee, we could of course have had a different type of coffee but didn't want to. We will not be returning!

A regular Costa customer, but this was the first time I had been in the one in Newton Abbott. Quality of food was OK as its always the same, although they had no teacakes or fruit bread - had to settle for toast. It was the overall cleanliness of the place and the staff that was really off putting. The trays were engrained with dirt, the floor was covered in bits of food and behind the counter was untidy and very cluttered. If these are the standards that customers can see it makes you wonder what kind of hygiene regime - if any - they have behind the scenes! Won't be going again.

Mould on the sandwich display and overpriced. I'll choose a local business next time.

We love Costa and will go in for coffee and snacks wherever there is an outlet. The staff here are generally now very friendly but service can be slow on occasion and tables are not cleaned often enough. Great cup of coffee today with cheese scone and ginger biscuit. Shame that It's all so expensive, though.

I have to communicate my utter disappointment in There not being a gluten free savoury option. There has always been a GF option available whether that is a wrap or sandwich. I am a Coeliac and have NO OTHER OPTION but to eat gluten free. It’s not a fad diet - it is not a life choice but a medical condition. To remove your GF option for the festive season products is ludicrous. I am boycotting Costa until A GF option is restored in your stores and will be spreading the word wide and far!

I am leaving the previous review below and wanted to explain the reduction in stars. Costa is expensive... but I go there because the coffee is good and the staff friendly. Today I was made to wait whilst the barrista updated her Facebook page. Gentleman ahead of me didn't get his lemon muffin because this also interrupted her Facebook time. An extraordinary way to run a multimillion pound corporation. By far one of the best costas

Helpful staff, didn't have the drink in that I originally asked for from the autumn specials which was a shame but staff did help me choose an alternative.

It's a bit cramped and stuffy, people filling tables before being served so there're no table for people in the que when they are served. Snacks and cakes extreemly expensive.

Popped in for a spot of lunch and coffee with the family and there was cake all over the floor, coffee spills that needed cleaning up however they did find time to put up a yellow wet floor sign. It wasn’t busy so there’s no excuse really. The ladies serving were very pleasant and helpful so well done them and the coffee was lovely. It takes 5 mins to check and pick up the grub that is dropped.

Having been to a few attractions just outside Newton abbot, on our return we had a look around this charming town and had a Costa Coffee in the high street. Although the Costa Coffee brand is all around the country, we always seek out the shops when we visit all areas as it's the best Cooffee we've ever had!

We went in and there was a large amount of food on the floor under the table, and on the chairs. Though despite that the hot chocolate was hot and sweet so I've got to compliment them for that!

Nice place staff very friendly,my only gripe I'd if you go in there around 1600 they are closing half the of the store down cleaning,they don't shut till 1800 it makes me feel as if they are trying to get people out

It saddens me to say that this is my 3rd review of this Costa, always hoping to come back & see improvements...this time around I ordered a special 'white hot chocolate' on carrying it from counter to table which I would guess is about 5ft it dripped all over floor&continued; to ooze all over table like mount versuvius..I was given a tray but felt it funny for just one small cup however if it wasn't the oozing on table it would have been tray. Asking the assistant if they had a cloth they came over with tissue&wiped; but still continued to ooze over cup everytime I touched it! Asked if I could have a saucer and I was told I'm sorry we don't give out saucers with lattés to which I replied 'seriously' not just this once? I was ignored. Not sure I will frequent this Costa again as I've written 3 negative reviews when I just wanted to come sit drink& be able to write a positive one...dont reccomend the white hot chocolate.

Don’t know why I bother ...... whilst the coffee is ok - there are better coffee shops around- I always find Costa dirty- wherever I go They never keep tables clear - trays are grubby and the ‘sugar stations’ untidy
