Well, 3rd day in England and quite by chance found this lovely hotel. Wasn’t sure what to expect but from the moment I walked in, I was charmed. The staff are brilliant - they were attentive to our needs as ready to help with anything. The room is wonderful - big comfy double bed, bed side lights, desk, comfy chairs, TV and wardrobe. Windows on either side of the room give a through draught. The bathroom has a full size bath and shower. I feel very comfortable in the room. Dinner was amazing. I had crispy fish and chips, best I’ve had this year. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the pie of the day and said the pastry was to die for. The Grange was built in the mid 1800s for a local vicar. The building is a tad tired, but we loved it.
What a great service. The food was hot and plentiful. Every thing is fresh and so tasty. So glad of a hot meal I didn't have to cook. Will be ordering again and again.
Called in for a pot of lunch en route visiting family. We weren’t disappointed…! Being a warm afternoon we chose a Chicken Salad - Grilled Chicken breast served warm with a mixed leaf salad with some superfood grains and beans lightly dressed in a delicious dressing. and Ploughman’s Platter all I will say is if I’m gonna be a ploughman I’d want this kitchen to prepare lunch! Thick slices of home cooked ham, mature cheddar, freshly baked sausage roll, hard boiled egg, salad leaves and pickles with some fresh bread what is there not to love?
We only found The Codrington Arms after a google search and we were impressed by the reviews, we can see why they are so highly rated.
In this day and age pubs need our support and they are working hard to deliver quality and value. Yes they cost more than the chain pubs BUT do they offer quality… We noticed there is a good sized beer garden where food can be served and on Sundays they offer A roast, bouncy castle and after the roast ends they fire up the pizza oven and Pizza is the order of the day.
Keep up the good work guys & thank you for a delicious lunch.
Just had an amazing anniversary meal with my fiancé, staff were amazing especially Grace and the taller man (I didn’t get his name), the food is to die for (deffo get the Stilton sauce). 10/10 x
Walked into the entrance there was two separate families waiting to be seated.... the dining area was virtually empty. Waited nearly 10mins the people first in the queue still hadn't been seated so we walked out. Joke.
Walked in the pub where the owner/landlady was smoking outside. Not a great first impression. Went in to be told they were only doing roasts. At 1.15 they only had 2 chicken left. We ordered and sat out side with our drinks. The waitress called us in to a very empty restaurant area where are meals were on the table. Lots of roast potatoes and some meat. We asked when veg was coming out to be told the had run out of veg the night before!!!!! We couldn’t believe it! We told them we didn’t want it. The landlady/owner did offer us to take meals free of charge but that wasn’t the point. We have been before but the fantastic chef they had has left! We’ll never go back. Needs a complete revamp and new chef!
Absolutely outstanding service. Some of the best service I’ve had on my dozen trips to the UK. Great food too. The risotto was amazing. They also gave nice fresh bread at the beginning. Lovely spot in the town.

After regularly going for pints, for food, and for the pub quiz, I took my visiting parents. They loved it too.
Friendly, with atmosphere. Great staff and great food.
