Lovely golf course, friendly helpful staff, excellent food and reasonable prices. Recently attended a wedding here and was very impressed at the peofessional way everything was handled. Food, bar and staff were very proffesional and friendly all day and evening. Would have no problem recommending to anyone.

Excellent venue, came for a function and can't fault the place at all. The staff were excellent helping some of the older more infirm guests and the catering was very good too!!

Superb society day here, course challenging and in superb condition

A quiet location to stay in an old lodge. There is a security lock on the main door, and the rooms are spacious with a good en suite facility. There was an iron board and iron in the room. Overall, an enjoyable stay and I would stay there again.

The golf course is a great and well maintained with difficult long rough you definitely need your A game to stay out of it shame the Marshalls didn't seem to care about slow play and we booked a 2pm tee time on line but felt rushed as 4 minutes later there was another group teeing off why

Quick knock up on the driving range

Played the 18 hole course today - Good points - Well maintained and laid out course, all tees clearly marked and good value for money. Negatives - booked a tee time and says 8 mins between each one but people were stacked up behind us and in front, no way anyone was managing it, course marshals driving round but didn’t seem concerned.. Would I come back possibly if they manage the tee times better

Played the par 3 (Severn View) course. Conditions were excellent, especially on all of the greens. And beautiful views! It was a little busy, with queues at some of the tees, but acceptable.

Went for afternoon tea. Good selection. Nice grounds. Well supported

Dear golfers, I have just played in this golf course, barely 3 holes in, and the caddy master was very rude, told me I was inadequately dressed, which wasn’t true. Then, I got pulled to the marshals office, and he kicked me out alongside my colleagues for misplacing the bags on the green, seen from a car in the distance. We weren’t given a second warning and we got kicked out straight away. Thank god a refund option was on the table because I would have made a big scene. Overall I do not recommend at all!!!

Lovely place we stayed in the lodge and it was beautiful

Played the par 3 course but 9 holes were closed for maintenance and the greens were hollowed. That's fair enough but I think the price should have been lowered from £16. Other than that its a nice friendly place with a brilliant refurbished driving range with good staff who ask if you'd like any food or drink bringing to you.

Can't fault the service given and would definitely go again.

A good venue albeit a little muddy in parts which was to be expected. Staff very accommodating.

Recently had a party here, the room we hired was amazing value, its own bar, dance floor and ample seating area for guests. Staff were excellent on the evening and communication before the event was handled amazingly. Can’t fault anything! Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Really nice course. Played the par 3 with my son who had never played before and it was perfect. Only issue is that they don't allow you to play 9 holes? Not sure why? They could not explain! This just makes it very expensive.

Stayed here a few times, lovely lodge, a little chilly due to high ceilings and spacious rooms however perfectly comfortable and clean. Only 4 stars due to misinformation on last orders for dinner during last stay: was told 7pm, arrived at 6:50pm to be told kitchen closed. Not the end of the world but disappointing and the young member of staff didn't seem to care. Otherwise, breakfast was nice, lovely golf course view and all in all, very good value.

We had our wedding here on 4th November 2023. The venue is amazing. The food was fabulous and the staff was unbelievably helpful.

Good venue, recent maintenance meant golf course disappointing

The most welcoming golf club in the south west of England. Great facilities and two awesome golf courses, Marlwood and the Severn View.

As a beginner, the par 3 course is excellent! Some really nice views as well

Greens aren’t in great condition - I would wait to play. Course layout is very nice though.

Lovely place for a wedding, food not bad but it took longer for food to serve and not much communication between servers and customers. Needs work. When serving food or drink they need to call out so customers know what’s being delivered to tables.

Perfect for confidence or as a beginner's course. Always in good condition.

Stayed for The Who at Badminton Estate. No taxi service on a Sunday night.

I haven't played here, but I use the driving range which is excellent. Large number of bays with targets at different distances, but what makes this so good is the computerised training aids which allow you to practise or play a round on a well known golf course. You get visual feedback on ball speed, trajectory, flight path and a whole lot more.

I was a guest at this place. Beautiful but very poor service and not good quality food. Open bar on the event and they was limited drinks. Not recommend for private parties atoll.

Very pleased and felt welcomed when approached the club for membership. A great game with Ladies’ captain to get familiar with the course and other lady members. Excellent meeting with Cameron Smith, the Group Golf and Memberships Executive, going through membership options.

Visited for a Cousins wedding. Excellent venue, in great grounds I spent the whole day there, from Ceremony, afternoon drinks, evening meal then the evening celebrations 🍾. Well done Thornbury staff. 👏 👏

Had an amazing wedding here over the weekend, food and location were just lovely. The staff including Natalie and Leighton went above and beyond they are, an asset to the venue. Nothing was too much trouble and our day was truly magical.

One star is generous for this esblishment. The staff and management are a complete shambles! Wanted to change my wedding date to a different date and still want to charge 75% off the wedding when they had 2 years notice! Will not compromise, or show empathy or compassion. We are in a cost of living crisis.

New trackmaster range being installed. Looks good. Had a lesson with Jason who was really helpful as ever.

Not a golf review. The conferencing facilities are very average. Staff are not particularly welcoming to corporate guests. Great parking and a lovely view from the bar.

I highly do NOT recommend to stay in the lodge at thornbury golf course.. not clean and key card did not work therefore locked out of room late at night!! First of all, when my family member arrived at the room for the first night the room was not clean. There were dirty female sanitary wrappers on the floor in the bathroom, half empty toilet roll, dirty cups, no shower gel/shampoo provided. Then when asked for the room to be cleaned the room was not cleaned properly until the 2nd night of stay. On the first night, when my family member tried to get back into the room late at night the key card did not work therefore was locked out of the room with no battery left on mobile phone and no car, my family member had to walk to try and find someone late at night to help. When we expressed our concerns to the lodge manager Rosie she was very dismissive, did not take the concerns seriously and appeared not bothered.

Staying here for business. Room good, bed comfy. Key card awful had to go reception twice to get in to my room. Pain

Went to the driving range which was lots of fun. Looks like a nice place, there was a wedding happening on the day we went and I can imagine it's a great venue for a wedding.

Nice course the condition wasn't great but would be unfair to downgrade as it was clear they were doing a lot of work so can imagine on a normal day it would be a fantastic course, only disappointing thing was I only got to play 9 holes as the pace of play was the slowest I'd ever encountered at any course, as I wasn't local I had a long drive home and couldn't afford a 5hr round of golf

Been visiting the range and the Par 3 a lot recently. Range is more than adequate for getting the practice in. Par 3 course is fantastically maintained and a really well thought out, enjoyable course to play. Yet to step up to the “big boy” course… yet! But give it time!

Friendly staff, lovely courses. Greens are a bit rough at the moment but usually well maintained.

Good place, however note that it does get very crowded on the weekends.

Stayed overnight in the lodge and all was good, including a nice breakfast. They had just done maintenance on the greens, which didn't make for great putting, but still had an enjoyable round of golf.

I am new to golf, so we played the Severn View par 3 course. It was far less intimidating and wascreally interesting teeing off with so many different clubs.

Visited for the wedding fair. Really lovely venue set up lovely. Polite and friendly staff. Rooms in the lodge are stunning. Can't wait to the wedding 😍

Staff friendly and helpful as always. We play here quite often as it’s a decent course for the money. However, our most recent visit left us very disappointed. Whilst I appreciate the weather has been fairly extreme recently, the course has not stood up to it at all well. Every green had massive patches of scorched ground devoid of any grass at all then areas of lush green grass that had not been cut for a while. I can only guess that the watering system must be missing parts of the green. To make things worse, the greens have also been hollow tined making already bumpy and inconsistent greens extremely difficult to pick a line and pace on. I understand that the weather conditions over the past few months have been very hard on golf courses, but the 4 other local courses we have played in the last couple of weeks (including Woodlands) have managed to keep the greens in much better condition. On top of this, arriving at the 7th tee, we were greeted with what you could only imagine the scene of the lunar landing looked like. The yellow tee pad (that was behind the white?) was totally unplayable with not a blade of grass or flat patch to be found. Why not GUR it and move the yellow to the back of the red pad or the unused pad behind the reds? This may all seem harsh but we left feeling very disappointed by a course we play quite often and always enjoy. There may be a situation that is out of the clubs control that patrons are not aware of but there can be no excuse for things like the 7th tee. We will be back because as mentioned we normally enjoy the course but not until it has had time to recover.
