The Codrington at Yate in South Gloucestershire

Went for lunch with family. Service very average and slow. No atmosphere and absolutely freezing. Tables and floor sticky. Only redeeming feature was the food. Didn't bother to stay for desserts or coffee.

The first visit and first impression is very good. I have booked for Sunday Lunch. Watch this space 😋😋

Excellent food and friendly service. We attended with a large group for a family celebration. All of the food was excellent and they even catered for gluten free. All of the staff were very welcoming. Lovely garden and play area for children. Highly recommend.

Thank you everyone for making my mum's 90th birthday special. The room we hired was lovely, buffet food was great, the staff were lovely, very helpful and a sunny day made it lovely for the children to play outside. Had a lovely evening with my 8 year old daughter as a Friday night treat. Great, friendly service and a good menu to choose from. A minor issue with my order was dealt with efficiently, discreetly, and to my satisfaction with complete professionalism from our serve. Would definitely eat here again!

We went for Sunday lunch . The food was delicious. Large portions . Staff were very busy. Will definately return. The restaurant would benefit from upgrading. The tables were not crammed in which is good for wheelchairs/mobility issues.

We didn't expect much given that it is the only pub for miles open for food at 3pm on a Friday (they serve food all day), but the food was surprisingly great and we couldn't fault it. Lots of options for all diets - meat eaters, pescetarians, vegetarians and vegans. Good value and we didn't wait too long. Decent car park but broken glass over a couple of spaces. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Nice outdoor area to sit in the nicer weather. The only real fault was the lack of atmosphere - the place could really do with a refurb. The place felt very cold and uninviting. Even some quiet music may have helped. Other than that, it it definitely worth a visit.

The Codrington Arms is indeed a Hidden gem for fabulous food and service. We called in on Sunday 1st Sept, the lunch was out of this world, everything cooked to perfection. Service was top class, and done so well by the young team, also noted how helpful and happy they all were. Please dont change anything, it is perfection, not matched very often elsewhere. Fantastic food and service this evening. Taco Tuesday was so good, hoping it's here to stay. We didn't turn up until 30 minutes before the kitchen closed but the staff were so friendly and helpful allowing us to sample all the taco fillings. Thank you so much, we will definitely be back

Taco Tuesday ! What a lovely meal . There were 5 of us two from Australia. We ordered 4 taco boards ( 1 of each flavour ) and two Nachos plus drinks . There was plenty of food . It was so tasty & worth the wait. We played games they had in the bar area and generally had a fun family evening. The young lad that served us was very polite with a huge smile even if our jokes weren’t the funniest. Recommend Taco Tuesday . Go check it out .

Food was great although service needs improvement, our food came out at different times and waitresses didn’t know what food was going to what table causing delay and my partner had finished his food by the time I received mine.

I rarely write reviews but was compelled to after our visit last night. We had the best burgers we've ever had (Wednesday night 2 for £18 deal) and the pie was delicious. My friend had the ploughmans which was huge and my daughter had the child's burger. All homemade. She ate it all which is a review in itself as she is a picky eater!! The desserts were delicious and the staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely return.

We called in today Saturday 13 July for lunch . My daughter and I both thought the food was delicious very well presented. I would highly recommend this hidden gem.

What a lovely place to eat, food was excellent, very filling. Children had plenty of space to run around and lots of tables to accommodate large and small parties. Free parking right by pub. Menu was good and lots of choice, childrens menu was good also. Will definitely go again.

Sunday roast is absolutely top tier. Would 100% recommend it. Veg is tasty and absolutely on point, meat and potatoes cooked perfectly too. Decent veggie option for a roast aswell rather than the usual cauliflower cheese.

Banging pint of fosters and the wings were excellent. Food came out quickly, garden is spacious, staff were great and I'll be dreaming of those fluffy thick chips for a while.

We visited The Codrington Arms yesterday with a table of 20 people for Sunday lunch (pre booked for a baby shower). I had to leave a review straight away as it was faultless from start to finish. The service was amazing. It all came out on time, together and was all correct. Paying was made very easy and the roast was delicious. We were all very impressed and I would definitely recommend.

Amazing location - parking/outside space for kids/spacious & comfortable restaurant. Prompt service and top rated food - options and quality. Hot plates and hot, freshly cooked, food. Couldn’t find anything wrong. There were 18 of us and we all had everything we wanted, at the same time, and all hot and tasty.

Came here on a Saturday night for a meal with a friend and would recommend a visit. We each had the three small plates for £14.95 and then a brownie to finish. The staff were very friendly and made our visit very enjoyable

Visited last night with a friend we both had the three small plates for £14.95. Such a reasonable price. The portion sizes are perfect had more than enough food. Had the triple chocolate brownie for desert which was amazing so nice and rich. Lovely staff. Will return and will recommend to others.

Really good value for money, as portions were large, quality of food excellent (meat was so tender) and meals served piping hot. Gravy was a bit bland which was a shame as Yorkshire puddings were lovely and would have been perfect with a flavoursome gravy. Service was a bit slow and glasses/cutlery could have been cleaner as water marks all over them but overall experience here was good.

Dreadful..... Food was really poor. Over priced.scampi and chips was a joke. 16 chips peas and 9 scampi for £15. Then having to listen to karaoke all the way through the meal. Won't return.

We came to the Codribgton jan 2024 for my mothers wake as fancied something classier than the local pubs , jenna the owner couldn’t of been more accommodating during our arrangements and the cakes and home made sausage rolls were divine we have eaten here many times and always thrilled I didn’t realise they catered for funeral wakes and we were really pleased they hosted it and my mum off in the style she deserved

We were over the moon with our Doggy Afternoon Tea experience! It was amazing 🤩 We were greeted by the friendly Codrington Arms staff and shown to our lovely table. There was a goody bag for the doggies to take away. We were brought fresh teas and coffees and then the doggy afternoon tea was served! So much for the dogs and such thought and care had gone into the preparation with sausages, a pup cake, doggy friendly sandwhiches, carrots and a pupchino! The human afternoon tea was also so delicious with loads of choice and very cute cakes and delicious scones! It was too much to eat and we were allowed our own doggy bags to take away 😍 There was also doggy agility set up in the garden for both doggies and humans to enjoy! Thank you so much for putting on such an amazing spread, being so thoughtful and an amazing experience ☺️ We have also visited for dinner and are always welcomed with a smile! The pies and homemade cheesecake/puddings are outstanding. We look forward to many more trips!

Brilliant venue for....Stop offs when out for a cycle to sit in the big garden, for romantic evening meals for two, and this time for a lovely family afternoon tea for a birthday. Delicious food and so much of it. Thank you Codrington Arms.

Some friends and myself ate Christmas lunch at the pub today the food was tasty hot and very good. I would highly recommend it

I booked an early Christmas meal for visiting family and pre ordered, however the two vegan festive roasts came out as butternut squash cassoulets which was not what had been pre ordered, when I queried we were told that was the only option available. I felt really let down and disappointed for my daughter and boyfriend. If there had been a change in the menu we should have been forewarned and asked if the change was acceptable. Our table was booked for 1:30pm and even though we pre ordered the meal did not come out until 2:15pm. There was not enough gravy on the plates and my bacon on my pigs in blankets was undercooked and inedible. The meal was not worth what we paid for it. We will not be returning.

I'm a regular diner at the Cod, but went for lunch with family today and service and food was excellent as always. High quality fresh cooked food, good beer, and nice and quiet! Highly recommend for a lunch.

First visit for a while,but this time an old friends wake.had drinks at a reasonable price,but the food supplied was Excellent with a good selection of food.Good also for the seating arrangements for a large group of people. Well Done to all the Management and Staff.

My daughter and I went there for lunch (dogs are allowed in the garden ) besides benches and parasols, there is also wooden cubicles ( ns ) for people who prefer the shade, we highly recommend, we had very enjoyable roast dinners.

First time here and heard the service was not great but how wrong they were. The service was great and pleasant and the Sunday roast was brilliant and so filling. Cooked to perfection and plentiful so no room for pudding. We will definitely come back much more in the future.

Just visited The Codrington Arms for Sunday Lunch. What a lovely experience. The food was amazing and our Waitress Katie was perfect. She was efficient, quick and when asked for something slightly difficult, dealt with our enquiry perfectly. If you haven’t tried it, please do.

Cannot recommend the Codrington Arms highly enough! We dropped in on a detour looking for lunch on our journey from Northampton to Cornwall and we’re so delighted we did! Lovely reception from the engaging staff. Absolutely fabulous food and drink. Our 3 year old’s lunch was was probably the best pasta bolognese I’ve tasted!

We went for lunch for my sons birthday weekend. Staff were very attentive and friendly and put a candle in his desert. Food was amazing, it was fresh and tasty. Well recommended.

First time visitor for a Sunday lunch. Wait time was about 45 minutes, staff were busy but very efficient. Pigs in blankets left a little to be desired as one was wrapped pretty much entirely in bacon fat. The remaining ones were of great quality and obviously decent produce. Beef was fantastic and all the veg was cooked well, roasters were 'just' cooked but nice. Very good size portion, was a lot more than it looked at first glance. Had a side of cauliflower cheese that was delicious. Only slight downside was it was very loud and was like dining in a village hall. Would return.

Was looking for somewhere for Sunday lunch , drove past liked the look of the establishment. Popped into ask if they could fit us in. All tables were booked , but the lovely staff made us up a table for 4 near the bar. Food smelt wonderful, menu had a good selection. We all had the Sunday roast. A mix of beef & turkey.didn’t have to wait too long for food to arrive. Food was plentiful , hot and all superbly cooked. Homemade pigs in blankets were amazing ! Staff very attentive and drinks were easy to reorder.would have loved a sticky toffee pudding , but everyone was full. Will definitely go back , little hidden gem. Also the beer garden was lovely. Well kept and tidy.

We'd driven past many times but stopped in for a meal with friends. The host couldn't be more accommodating. The food was incredible and the garden was safe and enclosed for my Autistic son to play in without concern.

Came here for some food for the first time last week and was greeted by friendly staff. It was rather quiet for a Saturday evening which concerned us. When it came to ordering our food most of what we wanted wasn’t available which was frustrating... The food was nice but was over priced for what it was. The staff were lovely, the building itself was spacious/ clean and they have a big car park.

I went on a rainy Tuesday evening after a walk with my dog. Staff were really welcoming to two damp and bedraggled strangers. They immediately provided a water bowl for the dog, and took my order at the table to make it easier. Food arrived...

Great Sunday roast, excellent portion size, my only criticism on the food is totally down to personal preference but I like yorkies stodgy and this one is quite crispy which for some is likely a good thing! The reason for 4 stars on atmosphere is because we booked a table for two but it was in the restaurant area. Ordinarily this would be fine but as I neglected to state on the booking that we have a dog, we were not allowed to stay in the restaurant area and had to move to either the bar or outside which is fine but this pub states that they are doggy friendly which is true if you aren't in the restaurant area which takes up most of the pub. The staff are lovely and the food is delicious though but just be aware your seating options are limited with a pooch ☺️ Dog bowls for water and treats are available at the bar as well.

Place average, food average, had hair in food, only one till to pay so waited for half an hour to pay, wouldn't come back.

Went for a treat family lunch , the staff were absolutely lovely, unfortunately the food was not, the beef was fatty, the vegetables we’re not cooked properly and could not cut the Yorkshire pudding with the cutlery provided, will not be returning
