Tasted better food from my nans dustbin!

Booked but couldn't get seated. The place took bookings for 30+ people all at the same time so we couldn't get near a table. Shocking organisation.

I went for a break with three others. The food was lovely. I ate from the Xmas menu and had the mozzarella balls followed by the lamb shank. Service was very good and the restaurant was busy. I would go again

Came here for a Sunday roast. 5 people (2 kids) - beef, pork belly, chicken and salmon were ordered. All were really nice. The Veg comes in separate dishes for the table which is nice and was generous in portion size. Broccoli, carrots, runner beans and a separate cauliflower cheese - all nice, all fresh. A really good roast! Nice gravy! Only slight downside was we were sat next to a solid stone wall which had a slight draft coming from above. It seems at the rear of the restaurant this is both sides. Just beware if you have oldies in the group. However I’m not sure what they can do about the structure of an old building 🤷🏻‍♂️ and to be fair this was during storm Darragh. Waiters were nice and attentive, friendly and always near or asking if anything needed. Lush roast - go!

Came here on a sunday afternoon for some early dinner, was quiet and sat pretty quickly in a cozy little dining area. The menu has quite a lot of range for a fair price. The service was quick and the staff were very nice.

Lovely staff and excellent food . Every member of staff was polite and friendly ,super efficient service. All the dishes were delicious and very good value at lunchtime particularly . Will definitely visit again . Chipping Sodbury is very lucky to have this restaurant !

Had the roast beef. Was delicious. Large portion of vegetables served with them. Great gravy. Service was a little slow but made up for by the food quality.

Nice atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. I love the lunchtime special. Huge pizza. Generous side salad. The waiters are attentive and friendly. Great place to meet up with friends. Can get very busy, so it is best to book.

Banging roast dinners! I go in for a Sunday roast takeaway it's proper nice most weekends. Staff are always buzzing and on hand to help with a warm smile.

Absolutely lovely place, staff a breath of fresh air, everyone of them polite and friendly all night. Food was delicious and hot throughout, ordered a meal I have never eaten, and I wasn'tdisappointed. Party of 10 and not one issue with any of the food ordered. Definitely recommend and definitely will be going back.

My husband and I went there to celebrate my birthday. From arriving until leaving we experienced perfection. The service was first class, the food was excellent and we had a lovely evening. The restaurant was packed and this was on a Monday ! I imagine you would have to make a reservation at the weekend, as it’s so popular. We will definitely be returning.

Visited this beautiful authentic Italian restaurant for my 30th birthday meal. Delicious food and quality beverages, very clean facilities and friendly staff. The only downfall thing was that we were automatically charged for our food service without being told. I shall not be coming here often.

Nice roast veg cannelloni but disappointing tiramisu which was more like a cream cake with virtually no taste of coffee or marsala.

I had Sunday lunch here with my husband and one of our sons. The Sunday lunch menu offered a good choice of food for us all - one meat eater, one vegetarian and one fussy eater! All the staff were very friendly and super efficient. The food was delicious, the portions generous and the pricing very reasonable. The choice of Sunday roasts was impressive and the meal came with a surprisingly large range of beautifully cooked vegetables.

Food was lovely but service was very rushed plus we were rushed to pay and leave our reserved table as soon as we’d finished eating. We were in the restaurant for 70Mins from being seated to leaving with waiters apologising and saying they needed the table. What was a nice meal turned into a disappointing evening due to their service.

pre booked a small party here for our wedding celebration, as usual the food was abundant and exceptionaly well cooked. thank you for giving us an amazing evening, the staff were as always brilliant, attentive but not intrusive.

From walking through the door we were greeted with a smile and hello from every member of staff. We shown to our table and given the menus. Shortly after our drinks order was taken and a little while after our food orders. The service was quick and accurate but without being made to feel rushed. 2 of us had the Sunday roast beef and 2 had the beef lasagne, all 4 plates were empty at the end. We then had desert which was also good. This was my first visit to Il Gusto and really enjoyed it. The only comment I would give in my personal opinion is the character of the restaurant, it could do with something, I don't know what, it just seemed a bit bare. All in all the service was excellent and the food very good.

Had main course pizza and desert Tiramisu.

I don't agree with the service charge being added to the bill. It says it's optional, but it is designed to make it feel awkward for you to say no. To respond to the owners comment - if I get the gist of your message, the 3 stars is because I feel that the service charge is rude. The food was reasonable, so I have given you an overall 3 stars which reflects my experience.

Pizza was well-cooked and tasty. Salmon linguine was also tasty. Everything could have used more salt/pepper/spice but hey it's UK. VERY busy and VERY loud on Saturday night, but staff was pretty accommodating if not a little inattentive towards the end.

A party of 11 and all the food came hot and on hot plates! No time for desserts but would recommend the Pizzas; Risottos; Bruschetta and Garlic Sides. One of our party had Omelet and Chips... a good hearty portion.

We came in on a Friday night. We didn’t book but staff found us a table which was nice of them. However when we initially came in and walked up to the bar, the member of staff was putting the food order in but didn’t even acknowledge us, at all. We stood patiently waiting until another member of staff walked past and we asked if they had a table. We ordered a starter, meatballs, a carbonara and a cannelloni. The food was ok, nothing wrong with it but it wasn’t anything special either. The starter had two meatballs which was expensive for what it was. The carbonara was fine but was very greasy. The cannelloni was just a bit flavourless. When we got our mains, no one even bothered to come up and ask if the food was ok. We were surrounded by three tables of parties and it was super loud, when the rest of the restaurant was quieter. When we asked for the bill, it took a long time for the bill to be brought over and then even longer, about 20 minutes I think? for them to bring over the card reader so we could pay and go. We aren’t local but if we were, I have to be honest, we wouldn’t have come back. Too expensive for what it was and service was lacking.

Well what a pleasant surprise. Pretty average from the outside but step inside and it is lovely. The food was the best for a long time. I mean really great. Great service too

A gem of a local restaurant, Family friendly, great tasting food and good value with excellent portion sizes. Our second visit here and this time were sat at the back of the restaurant which is a bit more open. The staff are welcoming and helpful. A solid bet for hearty Italian food. Thank you very much!

Cannot comment on food, rang up to enquire about if you have to book a table as couldn't see it anywhere, all I got in return was 'of course you do' in rude tone! Won't bother giving them my custom!

Risotto il gusto absolutely tasteless with rubbery bits of chicken. Service not good, slightly aggressive and took ages to get the bill and pay

I’ll gusto is a brilliant place for families. The children’s pizzas are very generous and are delicious. We recommend this for anybody thinking of going out with their kids.

Really enjoyed the evening, food was lovely, service excellent, can't fault anything about it. We will be back.

Great family restaurant and great Italian food. Really, a gem of a place to go to.

Mid week evening out,the restaurant became very busy from around 7.30 so advise to make reservations for any time of day. Staff very friendly and professional. Good choice of meals including non Italian. Can get quite noisy but no to the point it ruins your evening, people are enjoying themselves! Prices are reasonable expect around £35 per head.

Very nice restaurant, great Italian food and the lemon cheesecake for desert was so good.

The bruschetta was just ok. 7£ no decorations, no small salad around. But the taste was ok. The pasta was really poor. Just basic, 16£ for a small plate. Too much sauce, really tiny over cooked prawns. Really disappointed. Maximum 2/5

Friendly and relaxed ambience and service. Best carvery in the area by far. Beef and chicken were ordered. A tasty gravy and good selection of roasted and fresh veg. Only quibble was cauliflower cheese made with mozzarella only, so it tasted bland. A sprinkle of parmesan toasted on top would have lifted it no end. Mushroom Rissoto was enjoyed as well as three of the pizza choices; a nice thin, crispy base, generous toppings including a tasty mozzarella, a little too much for some tastes. We will be back.

Great place good atmosphere and good pizza

Me and my daughter in law went there for lunch. We also had my grandson, who is only 2 months old. They were very accommodating to where we'd like to sit and also have enough room for the buggy. The food was excellent, we both had seafood risotto's and it was hot, beautifully presented and tasted lovely. Staff very caring and polite. Definitely will be going bk again.

This is our favourite Italian restaurant!!! We love coming here and the takeaway pizza is also GOOD! The service is always amazing and the food is stunning. Highly recommend for any time of year! Get the I'll Gusto Pizza.

Had a lovely meal for hubbys birthday, EXTREMELY disgusted with the treatment of the wait staff from their employers!! Over heard the belittling for absolute no reason later on found out that they personally do not keep tips, which we later on found out from the lovely wait staff that they get a certain amount of tips from how well they have worked that month. Not evenly distributed on hours or what they have earned personally. Do not think we will be returning which is shame as food is normally amazing! Do better.

Went for the £8.95 pizza and pasta lunchtime deal. Restaurant nicely decorated and waiters very polite and friendly. I ordered the pasta arribiata which I normally do when I go to Italian restaurants. Unfortunately the taste was very bland. No taste of chilli and the onions were sliced not diced as usual. The tomato sauce was watery and not thick. I asked for more chilli and was given chilli oil. I had to put so much on to get any flavour that my meal was very oily. I was told they don't put much chilli into meals as not everyone likes it however arribiata is meant to be very spicy. Its literal translation is angry due to the amount of chilli used. My companion had the Spanish omelette which looked lovely but why a Spanish one and not Italian I don't know. It had spinach, red pepper, potato and onion in it. All in all a bit of a disappointment however I have been told that Sunday lunches are very good

What great place. We received a warm welcome. The service is very good and the food came quickly. It was packed for a Tuesday night. We will be returning.

I, wrongly was dubious about going to an Italian restaurant for an English roast. I went with my mother and we both had roast belly pork. I have to say it was one of the best roasts I've had! Beautifully presented, lots of accompanying dishes that came with it. Service was very good, the food came out promptly and the waiters/waitresses were really lovely and welcoming. Reasonably priced too. I'd definitely go again.

I love these guys in this resturant, I'm a regular here and they treat every individual so nicely and love to take the time to chat to you. On top of this their food is great quality and greatly priced. Highly reccommend !! :)

Food was great, good options for my friend who is a celiac. Service was bare minimum and felt very hands off. It wasn’t rude per say but our servers made no effort to build repport or ask questions (it was my birthday) It just felt a bit like they didn’t really care if we were there or not. Just served us food, we paid and left

Great, jovial place to have dinner. Whether it was the Christmas excitement but all the staff were really buzzing which made for a fantastic atmosphere. Food was the best Italian that I've tasted in the area too!

Went today for the first time to II Gusto with a friend. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch on their any Pasta or Pizza for £8.95. We both had Cannelloni, which was delicious and we were very pleased with the portion size. We definitely have found our place to go for lunch when we next return to Chipping Sodbury or Yate in future.

Great customer service but the food has changed the last few years. I go back in the hope it might have returned to it's previous standard but alas the quality has not returned. You get plenty of food but most pasta dishes offer no contrast in taste/colour/texture. e.g A bowl of pasta has no colour from maybe some green peas/or green veg. You get a 'BEIGE' bowl of pasta that tastes the same all the way through with no flavour/texture contrast. The Risotto has become bland and boring. It's like the dishes has been reduced in quality. I maybe go one/twice per year now instead of once a month like I used too. Gone from great to average. Sorry, but that's my experience.

We had a great dinner here. The food was excellent, the bruschetta starter in particular was delicious as well as the seafood risotto. The restaurant had a friendly and welcoming ambience to it enhanced by the attentive staff. Fantastic experience, no hesitation to recommend and to return soon!

My wife and I took her sister here for a meal. She had eaten here before and was fondly greeted by the staff. The waiters were attentive without being over-friendly and all three of us enjoyed our meals. Recommended. We will certainly return.

Went there for my wife and our children last Sunday and we all loved it. The lunch menu looked adapted to the British expectations of a nice roast dinner and have smaller choices for pasta and pizzas, the kids menu have a lot of options as well. We went for pasta and risotto and the portions were good size, didn't take too long to have them served and the waitress were all the time very kind and thoughtful.

Best Italian food we've found here in England!

Whilst visiting Chipping Sodbury on Sunday 24th September 2024, my wife and I decided to find a restaurant that was open post 4pm and came across the IL Gusto. The front of the restaurant in our opinion needs sprucing up to make it more welcoming. In contrast, the interior of the restaurant was clean and well decorated. We had a good welcome and then shown to our table. Sunday Menus with limited selection were presented however; the restaurant were accommodating in letting us select dishes from the main menu. Our orders were taken in good time and our drinks arrived very shortly after. The house Montepulciano was very drinkable wine that packed a big punch. In our opinion, our starter, which was Garlic Pizza Bread with Tomato Sauce took some time to arrive. When it arrived, presentation was disappointing with odd dollops of Tomato Sauce that lacked flavour and mildly garlicky but on the positive side, the Pizza Base was very good. Best part our meal was my wife’s Sunday Roast Chicken with all trimmings. Roast Chicken was moist and succulent with lots and lots of gravy. There were variety of well cooked Vegetables with good sized portions. In contrast, my Penne Arrabbiata was a big disappointment. Pasta was cooked well but the Arrabbiata Sauce lacked depth and flavour. I was expecting punchy chillis, garlic, herbs and seasoning but what I got was watery Tomato Sauce with some Onions. Thank goodness that I had kept the Chilli Oil and together with condiments on the table but some flavour in the sauce. My dessert, Banoffee Pie was by far my favourite dish. It was tasty, rich and full of flavour. Truly delicious and well worth a second visit just for the dessert.

We called in whilst travelling and had a nice plate of pasta. The staff squeezed us into what is obviously a popular restaurant. Proper Italian food and staff. Molto bene!

Wow!! What a wonderful place, from start to finish the evening was beautiful! Staff were welcoming , friendly and very attentive. Food was amazing!! Can't fault this place and would recommend this to everyone!

I have been here many times over the years and the food is always fantastic. The staff are helpful and friendly. I have 0 complaints. My personal favourite, the lasagne!

Good ambiance and friendly service. Food just ok. 2 of our party had dishes that were described as with chilli and they were very under spiced. The lasagna was alright, but suspect it was pre prepared and warmed through as the pasta was a bit stodgy . Not the best Italian food I’ve had, but certainly not the worst.

Went for an evening out with friends. Arrived on time and were eventually seated. Order was taken for drinks after approx 45 mins!! Drinks arrived 30 mins later. To cut a long story short very slow service, incorrect orders being taken which could have been a medical emergency as my partner was allergic to chillies receiving a chillie meal!! Then to add insult to injury they added a service charge to the bill! Which we had removed. Staff up to provide a service if you wish to charge for it.

Terrible main course, no flavour....won't visit again !

We booked a table for 8 pm for 6 We didn't get seated till 830. So we were standing in a queue opposite the bar,which was a bit odd We didn't get our meal till well after 9 The staff were lovely and the meals were nice, not sure I'd be in a rush to go back

Awful service. We had to ask to order drinks, ask to order food, then my pizza was wrong, and then nobody was around so we went up and paid at the till. We were asked how everything was - we said the service wasn’t good. The response was full of attitude “well we can’t please everyone, we are busy, I don’t have wings.” We won’t be going back!
