Hired Italb for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Everyone attending enjoyed the food, drinks and service. All of this made possible by Ilo and his wonderful team.

I recently visited Italb and it was great! The atmosphere was cozy. I tried the pasta and it was delicious. The pizza had a nice crispy crust and the toppings were tasty. For dessert, I had tiramisu, which was the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, a lovely place to enjoy some authentic Italian food! Also, I’d like to thank the staff for being so friendly and making sure everything was perfect for my birthday.☺️❤️

Perfection! Italb is hands-down one of the best Italian spots in the city! I recently dined there, and from start to finish, the experience was fantastic. The cozy atmosphere combined with the genuine warmth of the staff made me feel right at home. I started off with the calamari, and it was absolutely delicious—crispy, perfectly cooked, and paired with a dipping sauce that was to die for. It was easily one of the best I’ve had in a while! Next up was the garlic bread, and wow—it was soft on the inside, perfectly crispy on the outside, and bursting with rich, buttery garlic goodness. Then came the star of the show—the pizza! The crust was thin, light, and cooked to perfection in a wood-fired oven. Every bite was a flavor explosion, with fresh toppings and the perfect balance of sauce and cheese. It tasted authentic and absolutely mouth-watering. To finish off, I tried the Penne Arrabbiata, which was simply perfect. The pasta was cooked al dente, and the sauce had just the right amount of spice to give it a nice kick without being overwhelming. The flavors were fresh, bold, and left me wanting more. All in all, Italb Bristol hit all the right notes. From the amazing food to the impeccable service, every detail made this dining experience one to remember. If you're looking for a true taste of Italy, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

Not the usual great service last night, slow service in spite of half empty restaurant, food was average about 5 chips with an expensive fillet steak, no limoncello offered, waited ages to pay felt like we were being ignored! Sorry usually 100% but left feeling like we had wasted nearly £100!

Small local Italian restaurant in the centre of Downend. This place is a little jem. The staff are enthusiastic and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellently prepared and superbly presented. There is a wide range of alcoholic beer, wines, and soft drinks. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

From the moment we walked in the staff were wonderful and attentive. Promptly taking our drinks order and returning with them. Food was tasty and good portion sizes. We were even gifted free shots of limoncello at the end of the meal. Have lived in Downend for 3 years without visiting as I was worried it would lack atmosphere, this was 100% not the case - will definitely be back!

I went for a meal with a friend to this restaurant and would highly recomment it. The Customer service was excellent. I chose something off menu and the owner came and asked exactly what i wanted. Nothing was too much trouble. The meal was amazing from start to finish. Great value for money. Superb food. Loved it

First time at the ITALB restaurant Fantastic food and fabulous service

Amazing! Went here as my daughters choice for her 12th birthday. 5 adults and 5 children (6-53 yrs). Was early on a Tuesday evening so restaurant was nice and quite. Exceptional service and wonderfully attentive staff. Food was great. Kids loved the fresh pizzas, creamy carbonara, fresh baked bread and olives and the chocolate cake. Tagliatelle Marinara was fresh and delicious, linguine vongole was beautiful and the orecchiette was equally good. Overall, a great place for a family dinner, great food, great service and decent prices. Personally, I would like the decor to be a little more traditional (but that’s just my opinion) and the toilets could do with a rethink but a strong 8.5/10 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

After hearing great reviews, all I can say is appalling. We reserved a table and arrived on time only to be told no table was available. We were then asked to sit in a small corridor next to the toilets and wait until a table became available. No one came and updated us or offered any complimentary drinks or any apologies for waiting. We ended up walking out after 25 minutes sat next to the toilets and went elsewhere. Very poor service, very poor customer care. Not recommended

Incredibly busy Saturday night. My only very small criticism was that service was much slower than usual. Otherwise excellent as always.

I attended with my wife in the evening of Valentine's Day. The restaurant was tastefully decorated for the day and was (unsurprisingly) full, but a pleasant venue, nevertheless. Somehow, in the bustle of the evening, they lost our order, but later they realised the mishap themselves, without us needing to alert them, and they took our order again. The food was good - we had as starters funghi grattini and pastina brood carne. We had some slight reservations about the mains - my bistecca pepata seemed medium, rather than well done, as I requested. My partner claimed her chicken was too lemony, but that's hardly a fair complaint, as she had ordered pollo pepe lemone! The staff were polite, efficient and friendly, and I feel sure that the loss of our order was a freak occurrence. They were kind enough to give us each a complimentary digestif at the end of our meal, as compensation for the delay. So we had a happy time there. My one serious gripe, which is almost definitely unique to me, as a music purist, was the playing of Italo-American, Rat Pack background music, rather than something authentically Italian. Instead of being transported to Florence, Milan or Venice, we somehow ended up in Nu Yoik. So there was Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra crooning those tired old standards: That's Amore, My Way, Fly Me To The Moon, New York New York, I've Got You Under My Skin, Everybody Loves Somebody and Volare. When they played the Love Theme from The Godfather, I kept an eye on the passage to the loos, half expecting Michael Corleone to come out and gun down Virgil Sollozo and Captain Mark McCluskey. That's just me, though ... probably. I'd go again, though on a less busy occasion, if possible.

Ate here at this lovely neighbourhood restaurant last night for the first time. It certainly won't be the last! We came here with friends who live locally & recommend it. They are right! Nice decor & friendly atmosphere. Warm too, so important on a bitterly cold night with room to hang big coats! Service very prompt & efficent. Our server was happy to discuss details of wines & dishes with us. House wine, both rose & red was lovely. But the food! OMG! So many tempting REAL Italian dishes on the menu. We both opted for lamb chops & it was an excellent choice. Mine were grilled & he opted for the chops in rosemary, white wine & tomato sauce. We mixed & matched a bit & both dishes were delicious. Perfectly cooked to our individual tastes as we asked for. The accompanying veg & potatoes were all oven roasted in perfect Italian style. The gentleman, chef(?) came round & asked everyone if they were enjoying their meal & we were happy to have the opportunity to thank him personally & tell him how good the food was (I'm sure he knows that though!). Our friends had pizzas & they looked so good & beautifully fresh. Thin perfect base. A PROPER Italian pizza. We'll be back again. Worth driving across town for.

Food was all delicious so no complaints from the 4 of us, the house red was really good too.  Great friendly staff, the little limoncello shot to round off the meal was a nice touch one small note for future reference for one of the waiting staff ...Italian for cheers is Saluti not Cinzano which did make us all laugh

Great local restaurant. Like all restaurant portions these days, there was a noticeable reduction and the Moretti on tap was flat. But still happy to give 5 stars

Each time we have had great time at this family run Italian place. Owner & staff are so welcoming. Food was excellent, the chicken dishes were freshly made & so tasty & chefs choice pizza was delis. Substantial potions too. Celebrating two birthdays. Made us feel so special with tiramisu & candles. Highly recommend this place. We have always had such lovely times here. Thank you all the staff & manager for always being so welcoming & making us feel so special. God bless.

Great gluten free options - both pasta and pizza available although not well advertised! Good portion sizes. Quite noisy inside.

We hadn't booked and found a table in the window! Starter of Meatballs arrived tepid. Staff did replace & had some breae added and very nice. Bruschetta missing mozerella on. For the price of Main, Veal been nice to have more veg & more than 2 small potato. What we did have was full of flavour

Really delicious good and such friendly staff. We had a big table of 12 on a Friday night and all our food came out fresh and delicious. The pizzas were traditional and huge. The cannelloni was so cheesy and tasty. Highly recommend a visit.

We tried Italb last night after a recommendation from a friend. What a lovely surprise we had! The restaurant was very busy and buzzy but all the social distancing, staff wearing masks, hand sanitizer and track & trace in place. Our waiter - Ilo - was attentive and looked after us magnificently bringing us some Olives to share whilst we looked at the menu.Our starter was Calamari (fabulous! - hot and crispy, light batter) and Bruschetta with Anchivies. The mains Fillet Steak (cooked perfectly) with Brandy peppercorn sauce (homemade) chips, salad. I had Spaghetti Vongole (clams in a wonderful tomato sauce with garlic and pinch of chilli again all homemade). This was delicious - definitely a dish to die for - it tasted wonderful. Two courses each with plenty of wine came to £25 each!This restaurant is a breath of fresh air that’s has been desperately needed on Downend high street for a long time. A lovely little Italian - good food - great service and a lovely ambience. We will most definitely be regulars at this little gem of a restaurant - well done to Italb!

Ordered tonight as it’s our local pizzeria. The food was made to order, piping hot and completely delicious. Great service on arrival. On time, prompt and would urge everybody to support their local businesses in this uncertain time. Thank you guys!

Went to Italy for first time, no atmosphere food was ok we all had different meals 1 meat balls with pasta & tomato sauce, 1 lasagna, 1 Pizza, & 1 mussels non of it was exceptional some could of been hotter did not want coffee or deserts so then just ignored. Food very reasonable prices drinks very expensive £4.50 for a beer & wine £20 bottle, water £3.50 bottle. Bit like a cafe with no atmosphere, good point we could have a good chat as it was not noisy

Booked a table well in advance for 8.30 for 6 people on a Saturday night. Arrived to a packed restaurant and no available table. The waiter apologised and asked us to go away and come back in 15 minutes. We went back to the pub and returned some 25 minutes later. All went well from then on. Good food, generous portions, friendly service and excellent value. With 2.5 litres of wine and all having 2 courses, the bill ended up around £22 each!! Was it worth the wait? Definitely.

Smiling friendly staff and catered for vegetarians and one gluten free in our party. Also were child friendly with 3 year old and 6 year old who ate the food too, so winner all round

Went here for a meal with friends for a birthday meal. Everyone had the pizzas which are still as good as ever. The staff were excellent. Seated quickly, attentive but not over bearing. Made sure everyone was happy during the whole meal. Made sure the drinks we were having were cold when they ran out in the fridge before serving. Will return and not sure why it’s been so long since we have.

Of course we are a long way from fine dining here - but for anyone after an Italian meal or a tasty pizza this is a good choice - and as they also offer takeaway does make a good alternative to a Chinese or Indian.For anyone living locally this is a good restaurant to have and by the look of the crowd on Friday nights looks like it will be around for a while and hopefully a future Downend institution.On the main road and a stones throw from the local pubs - so another box ticked

Food was ok but from when we arrived it felt like we were an inconvenice. The hostess was very rude and seemed annoyed if she was asked a question. Considering there were 14 of us and we gave our orders before hand, it just seemed like it was too much bother for them

Best takeaway service ever, by mistake I ordered the wrong item, called the restaurant and the said come back and we’ll make your preferred choice, explained to the manager that I made a mistake but he still wouldn’t accept payment, oh and by the way, food was amazing.

On a fairly quiet Wednesday evening we enjoyed a lovely Italian dinner with friends. By the end we were the only customers there. The manager and waiter was attentive without being overbearing. It was a very relaxed meal with complimentary limoncello at the end.

Eating out can be expensive when you are subjected to Service charges, extortionate cost of wine, and extra for side dishes of vegetables etc.

Friday night meal at ITALB .I had meatballs to start , home made they were fantastic, followed by a lasangne also made on site which was also to die for .The staff were great friendly and welcoming .The atmosphere was great and the prices were good .

Met a group of friends here for dinner, staff were friendly and helpful whilst with caught up on all the news not rushing us! Food was delicious.

I adore typical Italian food and went here for the first time last week with close family who live in the area and are themselves regular customers. The food is cooked and served typical Italian style, not modified for English taste, or swimming in the sauce, as often is the case in some Italian restaurants situated in the UK. All the staff are very professional, courteous, helpful and friendly. I could not fault any of the 3 food courses I ate and the wine was good! I would certainly recommend a visit here and I will be returning very soon. It came as a very pleasant surprise to visit what was in my opinion a 5* restaurant but located in Downend. Well done.

Partners dish was tasty but my pasta was well over cooked and the sauce was bland. Spoke to them on the phone and they were very rude and were no different when I collected my food, need a serious improvement on customer service.

We visit this restaurant quite often, always find the food good and very good value. The staff always greet you with a smile.Its a lovely little restaurant

I am writing this review as a regular to this restaurant, we have been visiting this place for a number of years and have seen it grow through the bad and now good times. Elio and his family have worked very hard in establishing this restaurant. We have tried a number of dishes throughout the years and we are happy to say that they have all been very good. If you are not happy or require something that is not on the menu, just ask they will be very happy to help. There is always a good atmosphere in the restaurant, the food is excellent, the service second to none, the portions very generous indeed and the prices are reasonable. Well worth a visit for anyone who likes Italian food or not as the steaks are just brilliant. So if you don`t believe me go along and try for yourself, just go anyway, I am sure you will enjoy.

Valentine Night this year was the third in a row that we have been to the Italb, it fits the bill. This family business is well established and the food is just great tasting and at a reasonable price (as it the wine). Portions are not huge but satisfying and leave room for 3 courses if you are hungry. We have never been disappointed and find the waiting staff and management friendly and efficient. We asked it we could have one particular dish in a different meat to the advertised menu and that was just simply no problem. We have visited on other occasions and will continue to do so as it is within reasonable walking distance on a clement evening.

Reasonably priced, good portions, great taste, plenty of parking spaces. Cannot fault. Will go again.

Went to Italb Saturday night with our two young kids. Service was quick, nice and the food was lovely. Pastas all round.
