Wow! What a fantastic first evening in Thornbury! I stumbled upon this gem of a bar and had an amazing time. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a night out with friends. The staff, including Gabby, provided exceptional service, making sure everyone felt welcomed and taken care of. The drinks were fantastic, and the overall vibe of the place was just what I was looking for. Can't wait to come back again soon! The song I was looking for is “all the small things”

We have recently moved to Alveston, and my wife and I went to this pub for our first night out in the area. We received such a warm welcome, The bar staff were nothing but polite we had such a great night Great pub . . By far the most vibrant pub in the town, the barmen pull a perfect pint every time and the landlord is a very humble and generous gent.

Fantastic pub, landlord and landlady really tried to do everything they could for a large family outing we had. Staff are extremely friendly and we have now found our new local. My Grandad also loves sport and the staff were brilliant in making sure he got to watch his game!!

I got barred for an outside pub matter were i had been in the pub for about 3 hours and then when the landlord had a drink or shall i say to many decided to ban me for NOTHING and i have proof.

I wouldn't recommend this pub to any local or passing by, was disgusted to sit and witnessed the landlords being rude towards there staff, was very unprofessional, as a contractor it was poor also witnessing over activity on the premises while having a drink not a warm welcome at all Needs improving.

Found the prices of beer & larger to be very reasonable plus the toilets have always been very clean when every time i have visited the Malt house, which means if the toilets are clean generally the rest of the pub will be clean.

The bingo on a Thursday ran by Luella is thrilling and hilarious, the kareoke on a Friday is very inclusive and exciting and I can’t recommend a better pub! Doug and Jonny run the bar very well too. The owners get involved which is amazing and they run it very well, love you all :)

Nice pub on the highstreet. Sadly didn't serve any food when we went. Fairly priced drinks. Seems to be the local for a few people.

One of my favourite pubs around this area. Mark and Julia that run the pub are fantastic. They are so welcoming and always helpful and friendly. There is a great selection of beers and ciders and they offer great deals throughout the week on varies drinks. There are pool tables and darts boards and a selection of tvs playing live sport around the pub. Great pub! Go support it!

Its a great pub to visit ,with screen's for sports venues with local and friendly staff, also spacious plus garden for nice weather .

Only had one drink but it felt like a very clicky bar barman wasn’t all that up to date with football on it is an ok bar but not my 1st choice

Sunday lunch has always been a family focal point for us, so the one day a week we can get together is important, so we decided to visit the Malthouse for a bite to eat. We all ordered the Sunday roast which was just delicious and very filling. It was the first time for us to have the roast and we weren't disappointed, I had the beef and the family all had chicken, both were perfectly cooked and we happily emptied our plates!

We had the most amazing roast yesterday, I can honestly say after being disappointed so many times I am always reluctant about a roast dinner. However, this was booked for me as a birthday gift and it was excellent! The meat was tender and lots of it, plenty of fresh vegetables and very generous portions! I have eaten in many restaurants and this roast dinner was by far the best! and excellent value at £7.95!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Deserts were excellent too. Will definitely recommend this pub!Well done team! Excellent service also !

Recently visited Thornbury and opted for lunch in The Malthouse and overall we were happy with the food and service on offer. Tasty food served by smiling pleasant staff at at a competitive price, what’s not to like! Would return and recommend a visit.

My family and I visited this pub on Sunday to try out their roast dinner menu- I can honestly say it was one if not only the best roast dinner I have ever had, just like my mums (and no one beats that!) The staff were so accommodating and actually went to the local shop to get me apple sauce!!! I have already booked in for next Sunday and am taking my grandparents, I hope they enjoy it as much as me.

Went here on Saturday to watch the rugby, they opened early and it was packed- they then came out with bacon rolls which were very yummy! we decided to stay drinking and one thing led to another we were then having dinner there, which I must say was incredible - I had a stacker burger and honestly with someone with a beer full tummy- it hit the spot perfectly. the deals on the drinks didn't make my bank balance cry the next day. This is 100 percent my new local.

Great pub with lots going on. Food is very reasonably priced and they have offers on certain drinks. Large pub located in the middle of town on the high street. Public car park to the rear or parking on the high street. Lots of different rooms from lively to quiet and relaxing.

The pub is fine. Skittles alley is hopeless.

Saturday night is probably not the best night to visit for the first time but it is what it is.At 11 pm the bars are full of quite inebriated people which generally is fine unless they get too rowdy.one of my party wanted sparking water as he was driving but they didn't sell it!

Whilst in Thornbury we stumbled upon this pub, the inside was clean and inviting but the beer garden was brilliant.

Draught beer was absolutely atrocious this publican needs removing asap brewery involved needs to do something, only given one star because I had to give them something!!!!!

There are few pubs that actually manage to become a real 'local', but the Malthouse is certainly managing this with a great refurb, friendly staff and a landlord and Lady who care about their customers.

Went last night. Friday night, very busy and I understand the staff were under pressure. I’ve worked in pubs like this before. I was sympathetic for the first half hour stood at the bar, but as I watched at least 5 people who had come up to the bar not a couple minutes prior were being served before us as we were actively ignored. Eventually I resorted to putting my hand up and begging for service, ignored for another ten minutes before a bartender snapped “Doing that isn’t going to make us f-ing serve you.” So, I put my hand down. Waited another ten minutes quietly hopeful. Ignored, ignored, ignored. After an hour, my Friend and I decided to just leave, disappointed at not getting to drink but also Glad we hadn’t put any money into this establishment. I’m sure this place is very nice, and the workers were under pressure but I don’t think I did anything that warranted that kind of response - or lack of.

First class service very reasonable prices will certainly be going there again.

A very friendly place for eating or drinking. On a recent visit I had a pizza and some friends of mine had a chicken curry . I also enjoyed a game of skittles and the large screen television. Mark and Julie and staff do everything possible to make you welcome it is a place I would recommend to anybody wanting hospitality and a good drink.

As a lad who works away alot this is a gem of a boozer.... everything you could ask for. Decent pint, whatever you want to watch landlord will sort. locals all friendly "Hi vis Dan" and welcoming. Bar staff excellent.

Recently refurbished bar and lounge, but no money spent on the toilets, which are dated and had no hot water. Good range of pub sports, darts and pool.

The Malthouse (nee The Knot and Rope) has been under new management for a while now and what a difference!

The food (a burger in this case) was pretty awful even by pub standards.

Called in on a Sunday and the welcome was great and the prices reasonable - it was only for a quick drink so not much time there and it was clean and not crowded - it does do food on a Sunday but unless there was a separate area not much sign of food at 1 pm but do not let that put you off

The Malthouse has in recent times been taken over by Mark and his wife, who also run the White Horse in Thornbury, just across the road. They're doing a great job, though I would suggest the food can be priced a little high. The pub has had a great refurbishment so worth a visit.

Found this place whilst walking about in Thornbury.

We stopped at Thornbury on a whim and didn’t know what we might find ... a fascinating high street of old buildings and The Malthouse among them with advertising for freshly carved roast lunch.

Two excellent meals in a very friendly pub. Very good value for money. We were surprised it was so empty in the restaurant, particularly as we had eaten here a month previously and the food on that occasion was equally as good. A hidden treasure.

Lovely refurbed pub, carvery food is 7/10 but well priced at around £6.50. Play area out back for the little 1s

Had a nice Friday lunch. Nice friendly staff, good location, lovely big beer garden at the back of the pub and seating at the front of the pub overlooking the shops. Nice varied menu of either one course for £4.50 or 2 courses for £6.50. Had breaded mushrooms to start and I had Cajun chicken and chips and the rest of the family had burger and chips, very nice indeed
