Such a lucky find to come across The Old Dairy for a most welcome early morning breakfast! Excellent quality and flavour of the sausage, egg and bacon sandwich in delicious granary bread.... with a generous pot of tea. The baked cakes and scones looked delicous, but no room for those on this occasion! It should be noted that the prices are substantially higher than the menu illustrated on the website, but still worth every penny!

We came here for lunch, with friends. We were greeted by a lovely lady. Who took us to our table in the barn. A beautiful nicely laid table, the room was filled with natural light and oak beams. A good menu & wine choice. The chef decorated my wifes dessert plate with a happy birthday message piped in white chocolate , which was a lovely touch. The food & service was really good, apart from 2 of our steaks which were tough, however they kindly rectified this. We finished off in the bar & sat next to a log burner, which we enjoyed. The young lady behind the bar made us some fantastic cocktails to finish off with. Definitely recommend.

The Star was my local in the early seventies, it was very friendly and did great food, so whilst out on my bike I thought I'd go for a drink and lunch. The sign on the door said "a warm welcome to everyone". Apart from a good morning on entry it felt like a doctor's waiting room. The six guys taking up the bar space were non communicative and there was no food on offer. I drank my pint and left. Shan't go back.

I canât fault the food or the price at this restaurant. We did enjoy and the setting was beautiful - the hall itself is really impressive. Only feedback : I feel like theyâve missed a trick! When we told a local we were going there it raised an eyebrow - they considered it very highly and on arrival, I understood why. But on seeing the menu, I couldnât help but be a little disappointed. For such prestigious surroundings and a grand entrance, I was surprised the menu consisted of burger, curry and fish and chips. I was expecting fine dining and locally sourced ingredients to match the high level of service and location. I would happily have paid more than the ÂŁ14 main course price tag for something a little more special. As I said, the food was good - just a little underwhelming as it had the feeling of being bought in / pre made (example - the pĂątĂ©). I would recommend the chicken pie but not the brownie - it wasnât really a brownie and needed ice cream or cream with it.
