Delightful Sunday lunch! My partner (vegan) and I went for a late Sunday lunch yesterday. We turned up early for our table and were greeted warmly and told we could have a drink at the bar while we wait (Guinness was lovely). To start I had the rarebit - the rich and flavoursome - lovely! And for main I had roast beef and my partner had vegan wellington with Sunday veg and gravy. Both of us were highly impressed and we would definitely recommend!! Thank you for a lovely afternoon team!!

Our family recently enjoyed a delightful Christmas meal at The Bull at Hinton, a charming 17th-century pub nestled in the peaceful village of Hinton, just a short drive from Chippenham. The festive atmosphere was warm and inviting, with tasteful decorations that set the perfect Christmas mood. The menu featured traditional Christmas dinner prepared with high-quality ingredients. The roast turkey was succulent, accompanied by all the classic trimmings, and the sticky toffee pudding was a delightful end to the meal. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that even the youngest members of our family felt welcome. The Bull at Hinton's commitment to quality and community is evident in every aspect, from their locally sourced ingredients to their welcoming atmosphere. Most of their eggs, seasonal fruit and veg come from their own back garden! They have a dog friendly policy if you want your canine friend to accompany you. We highly recommend The Bull at Hinton for anyone seeking a memorable family dining experience.

Excellent food. I had the steak frites as a main and the halloumi fries to start. Steak was cooked to my liking and fries portion was generous. Parner reported a great veggie burger too, which came gluten free too if needed. Service was excellent, waiter was always around before we needed them. Everything came lightning fast. Desert was different to the usual options you see elwhere which was intrigingn, had the chocolate mouse which came with a banana theme. I'm not a fan of banana so I cannot fairly judge the dish but still some great elements on the plate, details in the presenration and overall I enjoyed it as a whole. Would recommend

Always a lovely pub to visit whilst it on a walk. Today was no exception. You can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome and you can also be sure of the best fish and chips you’ll find anywhere.

Beautiful place to have food. Lovely warm atmosphere, nice food, and drinks. It is on the slightly more expensive side of dining out, but it's a lovely place. It is very easy to let hours drift by.

visited today. after choosing this place as a halfway point, to meet my daughter for lunch. i drove 2hrs from hay on wye. my daughter drove 2hrs from hampshire. on your website it says" dogs welcome their part of the family" . so on arrival i took my dog to the garden area. to find water for my dog. no sign so we went in sat down. i told the lad behind bar .and he said its outside the side door. so we went out no water.!! so came back in. i said there ia none. he said il do it now. so we went out for a 3rd time. and guess what 😡 he left a bowl of hot water .😡🤦‍♂️. total incompetance. food was ok. but you might want to get brighter staff. .

We booked the large room for a wake to celebrate my Mum's life. It was perfect, it's a lovely location and the staff were excellent.

We went to the Bull last Sunday. I thought that I had booked a table for a late lunch, but I had not. Despite being exceptionally busy, they found us a table and we had an excellent meal. They saved the day: my birthday! Thank you so much to all the staff- chefs, serving, managers- a trip to the Bull is always top-notch!

First visit for a number of years and what was then good has improved! The food and service were excellent. Recommend the pork belly and fruit crumble with custard.

We were two couples, had four superb starters, & mains. The starters were so delicious, especially loved my Masala figs & goats cheese...it was divine! Big compliments to the chef & meal inventors. 😋 The steaks were so good, as always. The staff are so welcoming & attentive, it's a real pleasure to come here, to be served & fed food that's made with passion. Thank you all. Perfect pub, staff & menu choices. Been a few times now, & only just realised there is a huge well seated garden at the back, which looks lovely to sit & have a pint in!!

Genuinely outstanding. Stopped off for lunch on our way down to Exmoor and were treated to one of the most umami, delicately cooked, well judged set of dishes we have ever eaten at a gastropub. Between us we shared a mussel and bacon chowder, home made spinach and hake gnocchi, house burger and perfectly cooked chicken supreme with one of the best ever potato gratins I have yet had. A truly memorable and delicious lunch, a wonderful ambience and lovely staff. Absolutely banging. My compliments to the chefs.

Food was good but service was incredibly slow. Over 2 hours to get through lunch.

We have been here a few times for family and work celebrations. Today we celebrated our 40th with family and a group of friends. The food was superb. From perfectly cooked Halloumi fries, bread and dips to start through a superb Sunday roast with the best yorkshires ever, to a great dessert. However what really makes a great venue is the staff - I cannot speak highly enough … you are an awesome team. Thank you.

The food here was absolutely lovely - in fact we tried to find somewhere similar for Sunday lunch the next day and couldn’t find anywhere to match the quality! The burger was so tasteful and juicy. My steak admittedly did come well done when asked for medium, however the waiter swiftly had it remade and took it off the bill!! The desserts were incredible too. Would visit again - especially with how they dealt with the steak situation. Even if the food hadn’t been great, it says a lot and thus we would still have returned. Keep it up 🙂

We go out for Sunday lunch every month and like to try different places The Bull came highly recommended so we were looking forward to an excellent roast It wasn’t busy when we arrived at 12.45 and we were served quite quickly The food was ok but the portion size was very very small (about half a plate once you removed the gravy jug and Yorkshire pudding!) I’m not a big eater but this was by far the smallest roast I have ever been served! The food itself was reasonably well cooked but the roast potatoes had the consistency and taste of frozen roasties not fresh which was very disappointing The cauliflower cheese (an extra) was lovely but very small, so we had to order another so that the 3 of us could each have a spoonful! On the plus side the waiting staff were excellent and a credit to the pub

£80 for lunch for 2 is a bit wild, it was okay

Just met up with friends for lunch at the Bull which I probably hadn’t visited for 20+ years . As the reviews were positive I was hoping for some good food and wasn’t disappointed. Apart from the main menu there were a few additional dishes on their specials menu for both mains and desserts so it was difficult to choose what to have. The food was a good restaurant quality and the service was excellent. The ambience was good despite being quiet as it was a mid week lunchtime. Therefore the 5 stars given were well deserved. We will return!

(Apart from the carparking) Have been to the Bull several times and the pub and garden are lovely. We went there last Sunday lunch time for my birthday 😋 Despite being a large number of us and two babies who needed highchairs, we were well accommodated and had an excellent Sunday roast. I had the vegetarian option of nut roast which was delicious.Apparently the lamb and chicken dinners were also fantastic. There was only a little wait for food. Freshly made, locally sourced. (As much as poss ) Perfectly cooked food. 😋 I enjoyed it so much that I'm continuing to return. Thanks again to my lush fambley 😍 and Bull Inn for fab 55th and now 61st 🎉😘 Definitely book as it gets very busy. Our server was great. The general menu has a good selection and importantly - Dog friendly 🐾

We stopped here whilst driving back from London, a couple of minutes off the motorway. They did have space but the place filled up around us so I would advise booking. Food, service and atmosphere were all excellent 👌 I could fault a thing, a stunning old pub set in a rural backdrop, well kept and maintained with super friendly staff

Another great experience at The Bull, with delicious food (this time roast lamb) and accommodating service! We go semi-regularly and every time we get a friendly welcome.

Delicious food charming staff. I had a delicious cod, mussels look s and a mild curried sauce. Followed by honey and blueberry parfait

Can’t say I’ve eaten a better pub meal . Out as a family of four and every plate was as good as it could have been. Menu choices , flavour combinations of dishes , presentation , service , all excellent and faultlessly cooked dishes . Only one tiny suggestion its getting a bit chilly in the evening , pop on some background heating and add some warm feature lighting / candles just on these early autumnal evenings before it’s time to get the fire lit .

We had our wedding reception in the garden it was beautiful the food amazing staff amazing all worked very hard and it showed everything and everyone enjoyed very very much would highly recommend even if just for meal out

A very beautiful pub with up market pub grub. Never been disappointed by the food or venue. Unique outsides slabbed area out the front and great garden area out the back, with a covered gazebo/teepee area to relax or watch sports when it's happening

This is a really nice pub, friendly staff. Drink we had was nice. The only slight downfall was that there’s no proper baby changing rooms, just a tray that you pull down from above the ladies toilet. But all in all a very good experience, would love to come back for food.

Fab pub with a lovely pub garden, with tables under a shelter. Very cosy and the best food ever! Had gluten free and veg (could be vegan if requested) sweet potato burger. All the food was delicious. We will be back again !

We found this very interesting Pub close to motorway and whilst others are closer to the motorway this was a good find for the food and the service. Staff were attentive from the moment we walked in. The quality of food was great and our only downside was the fact that lunch menu was limited. However, although this was limited I appreciated the choice. I can recommend both the bean burger and beef burger. Bathroom hand wash is excellent as I love Bramley products. The staff really are commendable for their bright smile Enjoyed people watching here as clientele was very quirky on day of our visit!

Lovely meal tonight for my Auntie’s birthday. We preordered as we were a large group so the food arrived quickly. What really made the night was the fabulous choices for gluten free, a rare find for a pub! My daughter said it was the best pub meal she’d ever had! Hope to be back soon.

Very nice country pub, always seems a good vibe, some lovely tables and a covered area in the garden too when it's sunny. Have been a few times, never disappointed..

Definitely 5 stars. Food was amazing, not many varieties but quality is everything above. Nice garden, specially recommend for families there is a play area, tent for rainy day, parking is easy, booking in advance it can be busy for a reason 😉 I've been there once couple years agoand definitely we are gonna go back 🙂

We dropped in at the wonderful country pub & we were lucky as we just arrived before the smaller menu started. We ordered from the full menu quickly so we could try their full vegan menu for our friends. Great service and quality food, we will definitely be back & highly recommend.

What a place this is! Almost don't want to review it because it will get even busier. Service was absolutely faultless, every single staff member went out of their way to make what was 'just a lunch stop off' a memorable experience. The food was absolutely stunning and great value for money. The cocktails were also mixed perfectly with their own 'twist' and the place itself and the atmosphere was very, very, special. Don't normally write 'gushing' reviews but this place and all the staff are absolutely worth every word of praise.

Nice inn, great garden and terrace, food was fine

We stopped here for lunch and I cannot rate this place highly enough. The food was delicious and it was brought to us quickly. We sat outside so our children could play in the play area and it was brilliant. They had a wonderful time climbing on the tractor tires. The staff where so incredibly friendly as well. I was served by a young lady with a blue bow in her hair. She was really polite and made me smile. The whole experience was the best.

Great pub with a lovely garden. Good choice of beers and cider. They even have an outdoor canopy to sit under if the weather is a bit cloudy.

We had dinner there last night 9/07/24 . It’s a lovely old pub and the food was delicious.I had Cornish cod with mussels, it’s the best meal I’ve had for a very long time gorgeous!! And we eat out a lot .We will be back 👍

Classical dishes come out beautifully presented, delicate taste, and they've got the best sweet potato chips I've ever had. Appreciate the beer garden with some plays for kids. The tent there wasn't serving maybe it's not busy enough yet.

It doesn't happen very often that I write a review of a place I have eaten in. I'm a professional Chef and I admit, it is hard to please me. I had the cauliflower steak with lentils and romanesco sauce. My men had fish and chips. When the food arrived, I could instantly tell it was going to be a great experience because of the smell of the food . Good food smells GOOD, as simple as that. I was surprised with the delicate touches of flavours of my dish, the flavours were perfectly combined, the food was FRESHLY made, and , as I always say, it was alive! Good food sings in my mouth, it doesn't just go in dead. I feel good food nourishes all my senses, the rest, for me, is an experience I'm not particularly interested in. Would love to go back and taste more dishes. Keep up the great work in the kitchen, you have talent. Well done!

Amazing place tucked away from everything. You wouldn't expect much but it was one of the best burgers and fries i've ever had. Sad how bad places are at making fries but this place knows how to do it.

Limited lunch menu - just evening menu with 2x sourdoughs. Sourdoughs very tough to cut. Service first class. Atmos. very pleasant

The food is always delicious and they’re so accommodating of children and dogs: the spectacular outside space is only bettered by the lovely team there. We always stop off when travelling from London to Wales.

I took my boss and a couple of clients here for lunch. Service was not overly impressive, but I think they were a bit short staffed. I asked for a table by the door and they gave me on up a step which we had to chase someone down to be directed to it. Once in, and after a bit of a delay waiting to be served the soup was nice, the roasted pepper sandwich was lovely. The mushrooms I helped my boss to finish off were very tasty, I might have that next time.

Fantastic country pub serving exquisite food and a wide range of drinks. We enjoyed a family meal on a saturday lunchtime. Kids enjoyed the kids menu offerings and the playground while while they waited. Adults loved the daily specials on offer - the harissa lamb flatbread and champagne and strawberry baked alaska were a particular highlight. Can't wait to make a return visit

We had not been here for some time, but we came attracted by the interesting menu and number of gluten free options. We were not disappointed - all of us were pleased with our meals. Prices are not cheap but reasonable in view of the cuisine. We don't like service charges added automatically, but it won't stop us going back for more.

Lovely pub, good menu and friendly staff. The only downside was that a 10% service charge is added to the bill, yes you can ask for this to be removed but a tip should be left to a customers discretion, hence the two star review.

Excellent service, food and atmosphere. However, was not pleased to pay a compulsory service charge of £16. Would much prefer to tip according to my own discretion. Not inclined to return under these terms.

Food was excellent quality, portions however on the small side. Service was quick and friendly. Atmosphere was of a cosy traditional pub, lovely. Not 5 stars due to the small portions and the automatic service charge on the bill ; I like to decide when and how much I tip.
