Superb food and brilliant service . I will be becoming back for more.

Myself and my future wife drop in a few times and the staff are very helpful and friendly we have enjoyed our meals really cooked well and our breakfasts were great when we have been and enjoyed our few drinks together lovely atmosphere

The service at The Turnpike is always outstanding. Staff clearly happy in their roles. Go out of their way to make the visit a pleasurable one.

A group of 3 of us visited The Turnpike last night and we had a really good time. It was surprisingly busy for January, but they had a very good offer on of 40% off food which we took advantage of, bringing the total of our 3 meals to just over £16. There was an hour wait for food, but we didn't mind that as we'd gone out for a good old catch up. The food came and it was delicious, hot and well presented. The establishment itself had a great atmosphere, the staff were friendly and efficient, and the toilets were clean and suitably well stocked with sundries.

Pub was busy waited nearly a hour for food to arrive 😞 well worth the wait order Cod n Chips Mushy peas Fish was tasty as F chips were perfect best mushy ive ever had 😀

Ordered food, was told 1 hour wait. Said OK. After 70 mins asked how much longer to be told in a very blasé sort of way, "it was an hour and a half". I corrected the lady behind the bar as we were told 1 hour & we wouldn't have stayed for a longer wait if we'd been told. She basically washed her hands of my comments, no apology. Food was quite good but I'd have eaten anything after that much time

I’m going to try and keep this as balanced as I can. Firstly, I will say that we went on a Saturday evening, possibly the busiest time of the week, so take that into consideration if you plan to go at this time. We had booked a table for two and we’re seated at a table right by the double doors. This wouldn’t be a problem If the double doors were shut, but only one set of doors were closed with the others being propped open - meaning every time the door opened , we got a blast of cold air. After sitting there for an hour and the food still not arriving (we hadn’t been told the food will take an hour). My wife was getting so cold that I had to ask to be moved. In fairness, the manager was very good, Moved us promptly, apologised and sorted everything out so the food would come to the right table when it finally arrived. And after about another 10 minutes, the food did finally arrive. The first thing I noticed was that the salmon was very overcooked, quite hard and rubbery in places but as we had waited so long, I didn’t want to send it back. Also, the chips were only tepid. The vegetables were very nice and the food was well presented. My wife’s food was okay as well, except for the tepid chips. The staff were good, very polite and the front of house Staff seemed very efficient, but I cannot help but think there was an issue with staff in the kitchen, as things were slow, or maybe it was just the fact that it was a Saturday evening. I’m not writing this to slate the place, just to give an honest review. Would we go back? Possibly, but definitely not on a Saturday evening.

I have been a regular Diner here for some time. The Head Chef left the Turnpike in December 2024 Aidan was a fantastic Chef I even sent him A Thank you Card for his lovely prepared meals. I went to the Turnpike today with my Btrother and Stepfather. Something really sad has happened with the food quality. 2 steak/Chicken Sizzlers were ordered When they arrived the Steak was Cremated The chicken was covered in Black peppercorn (yuk) I was told that the Deputy Manager was Cooking with Bar Staff Help. Please can we have a qualifed Chef back in the Turnpike Kitchen. We are not giving up with eating Here yet!! Just Hope the Food improves

Our local pub. Drinks are pricey but the food is always fabulous!! Highly recommend the burgers! They always come out fantastic!! Be prepared to wait for food at busy times... Good food is worth the wait and you don't want to rush the experience here anyway! Just enjoy the atmosphere and friendly staff. There's always someone to talk to here, whether you're here solo or in a group, the random social encounters are always entertaining!!

WC Flooded both men's & Disabled. Long wait food Concidering there was Not that many Guests in the pub. When we got the Food. The Quality was OK . So a few improvements Needed.

Visited the pub a few times over December, can honestly say it's one of my favourites! The team are amazing, so lovely to chat to, especially good with little ones and the food is always on point. They had a great DJ for their new years celebration and the vibes were immaculate! Will be back

Great menu, excellent prices, easy to book, staff, great service

Enjoyed an absolutely delicious festive burger here with a nice pint of Doom Bar. Great pub - lots of natural light in the bar, great service, and burgers that are hard to beat elsewhere - especially for the price! The kebab topping on the fries was a particularly nice surprise - so many tasty flavours and a generous portion. Looking forward to going back soon!

The bar staff, was unbelievably arrogant and looked miserable as hell not one of them smiled & when I came in never even spoke asked what we would like for a drink or anything absolutely so rude

We love this pub. Came here today for lunch and weren’t disappointed. My partner had fish and chips, which was huge! I ordered the sizzling grilled chicken which was very tasty. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food comes out quickly. Will definitely return 10 out of 10!!!

Seated in an area where it smelt strongly of wee so we asked to move tables, awful stench 🤢

Most disappointing birthday meal for my son’s 11th birthday. We booked a table for 8 people at 6.15pm, we placed our order by 6.30 and was informed it would be 30 minute wait for food. By 7.30 we hadn’t received any meals. We enquired at the till about how long it would be as we had a birthday boy and 3 young children who were very very hungry! The waitress, called out to the kitchen and they said it was being plated up. At 7.45, 6 of the 8 meals arrived. The fish was burnt and dry and the corn out the cob was getting cold waiting for the meal! We were then informed that the 2 other meals would be an additional 5 mins as they needed to wait for the chips!! These 2 meals arrived at 8pm. All The other meals had been ate and my husband and dad were still eating. My 70 year old dad, who is due an operation on Tuesday for achanasia, ate too late and bought on his symptoms ten fold! As they were finishing their meals I went up to ask about pudding waiting times and explain about the poor food quality and the 1 hour and a half waiting time on the food for my sons birthday! All they did was apologies and although I ordered £30 worth of deserts, didn’t even offer a discount. In Total we spent £130 for a disastrous meal to celebrate my sons 11 birthday. There was no explanation for the delays! This is such a shame as we have been to the turnpike several times and had great meals! Customer service this evening was so disappointing and it wasn’t even busy! I was asked to reach out via email which I have done with no response!

Four of us visited - last minute decision. We all had different main courses - all of which were excellent. Just had two deserts - also good. Prices were very reasonable and the service was good. Will definitely visit again and hope we get equally good food/service. On the basis of this visit would we would recommend this restaurant. You can book a table online and they seem to reserve it for 2 hours which is good.

Arrived around 5pm for some food on the 23rd of November, ordered basic food garlic bread starters after waiting 45 mins, I spoke to member of staff to ask where my starter was too or how long it would be and the response I got from the chef was it will be done when it's done which is a really poor response from a professional company, following that once it arrived it was pretty much cold we then had to wait for mains to come which further took about an extra hour and it wasn't the best food, I ended up taking most of it home for the dog once recieving a take away box, following the wait in between food I went out for a cigarette, where I seen 2 or 3 mice running under the fence into the yard by what I think is the freezer outside this ain't hygienically pleasant I won't be returning here again used to be a real nice pub but it has gone very downhill in the last coming months and their was plenty of people complaining about the food and wait times due to the new staff in the kitchen being left on their own

Really busy evening, warm in the pub except when the door opened. Girl on the bar was really helpful and food tasted good. A bit of a wait but was hot when it arrived so can’t moan. Will definitely try this place again

We have been regular vistors of Turnpike bar and grill and felt that the last 4 visits the standards have failed. I could not criticis all the staff members becausetheyare great, but one in particular named Ste, on all visits he has been rude, in patient, although the other members of staff have a friendly approach to families Ste has ignored and has a negative point. I planned to have dinner with my kids after returning from the centre and without reliable reason our table was changed which ruined the whole day. On other occasions when Ste served our food, his approach towards my kids was not in a friendly manner. (Orders do get entered incorrectly) but that is not there fault.. mistakes are made, but Ste took our food and bought it back in a worser state, immensely delayed and in parts with the guests waiting to be served. On raising the issue to the manager present there, she replied in an impolte way and we were left baffled.

Absolutely mind blown by the quality of the food, cleanliness of the place, the decor, the service, the price of the food. I ordered the surf and turf and it was absolutely amazing!

Turned up today at about 12.30 for lunch.ordered four fish and chip meals.didnt have to wait very long,food came out steaming hot.fish in batter cooked to perfection,we all really enjoyed the food.thank you.

Came in recently and had an awful time. The manager (think I heard the other staff call him Steve?) couldn’t keep his eyes off my two boys! He was staring and winking at them from the bar and came over multiple times asking if the food was okay rubbing his hands on my youngests shoulder and head even when he pulled his head away. He is quite intimidating especially as a single mum but I eventually told him to stop and he stormed away angry. felt very uncomfortable by him so we eat up quickly and left when we paid which is a shame as the boys normally love building their brownie. We have eaten here quite a lot but after this we will never be coming back.

Went to the turnpike for something to eat around 7pm and almost everything on tap was off. We asked for a table of 2 and were told to take a seat and when we went back to the bar was told the kitchen were not serving food. We left to go somewhere else and as we were leaving saw the manager serving food to other tables. The staff were quite rude to other guests that were present about this issue as well and I was very annoyed as if there was a problem in the kitchen we should have been told when we walked in.

As me and a few friends decided to pop in for some dinner around 6:30ish we were greeted with half the taps being off as they hardly had any stock. So we then sat down before deciding to order as we over heard a family who walked in before us stating that the kitchen had shut. So I decided to ask the lady manager behind the bar to rudely be told it’s shut and that’s it. Nice way to make an introduction to a pub we had never been in and will never go to again

First time visiting this place. Ordered drinks and then ordered the food. I was told it would take around an hour for the food as busy. It was an hour when the food arrived and my partner and I both had the fish meals with mushy peas. The mushy peas were stone cold so-called the waiter and said the peas were cold. He brought out hot mushy peas. This should never have happened. Next time i visit i hope it is not such a long wait for the meal. Overall, food was very good

Always enjoyed meals here. Had a lovely breakfast, served to myself and my wife so would have given 5 stars. Only let down was I really only enjoy sausages with brown sauce but none could be seen. Asked bar staff , who had a look and said sorry they had ran out. Surely I am not the only person that enjoys brown sauce, so how could they run out ? If it had ran out because it is so popular they should make sure they have plenty in reserve. I asked if I could please have some barbeque sauce as an alternative. " No you have to pay extra for that ! ". Maybe this "running out of sauce" is deliberate. So as a precaution I advise diners to take their own sauces , in case the pub has ran out. Unless you are not fussy like me.

Beautifully cooked salmon. Great choice on the menu, and lovely hot, well presented food. Very family friendly and great drinks deals. Highly recommend.

Our first time in the area so popped in for dinner and a drink one evening. Bar staff were super welcoming and friendly right off the bat, and the new general manager was lush too. Food came out nice and quickly and was absolutely delicious - couldn't believe the portion size for the price! The pub is clean, cozy and great value for money. A lovely little find, will definitely be returning!

We went to the Turnpike to have a meal for my birthday witch is tomorrow

Unfortunately a rather disappointing meal. Ordered a meal without cheese and it came with cheese, admittedly they did replace it quickly but simply swapped the chicken breast and cheese slice over for another, I would’ve expected a new burger. Staff seemed more interested in moaning about how understaffed they were and moaning about other customers whilst serving drinks. Didn’t expect much but can’t imagine we’ll be back in a hurry.

Management is extremely rude and obnoxious, moved to a different table when there was no sign on the table we was sat on that we couldn't sit there. Found the women manager unbelievably rude.

Love going to The Turnpike as its only a bus ride away and the food is great and affordable. Lots on the menu to choose from. Staff are very helpful and polite. Nice and tidy, even though pub was very busy we didn't have to wait long for our food to come out and it was piping hot. Tables were cleaned as soon as people had finished. Great atmosphere too.

The most enjoyable visit we have ever had here. Bradley was so welcoming with us and made us feel at home. We look forward to coming back.

Went for the first time and was very impressed! The drink selection was brilliant, the food menu, although big, had many things I'd like to try. Eventually ended up trying one of their sizzling grills, and the food was some of the best pub food I've had in years! Everything was clean and tidy and very welcoming, especially the blond lady behind the bar, who I'm guessing was the manager! Brilliant service, will be back again!

6 of us went for a family meal out. Every one of us had some thing missing from our plate that was on the menu. My partner returned her meal and the replacement that came out was as advertised. Not very consistent. If you need to have anything removed from your meal, one of our party has issues with onions, it's all pre packed so not much luck. 5 meals came out and then a long wait for the 6th meal. We had to ask where it was. Good selection of drinks which was needed to fill the time waiting for the 6th meal. Deserts are very nice and a good selection

Came to this lush little pub the other day, the service I received was lovely, the food was great price and arrived hot and tasty. The staff were great, the assistant manager Scott served me and helped me. He was very accommodating and couldn’t do enough to help and make my vist more pleasurable.

Quite a decent chicken tikka Masala here. Sizzle plates are good value. Enjoyed the quiz night.

Very tasty food, good portion sizes and arrived quickly. TV's and music on but not too loud so just a nice volume of happy customers chatting. Raining so no-one really sat outside but would be nice if the sun ever comes out! Handy location, free car park, good prices. We've been here several times, as a couple and a group and will come again.

Ordered fish and chips, with extra chips and didn't receive what I paid for. It's a shame as the food was very nice, and very hot. The customer service is great from the Turnpike, Uber Eats are just abysmal, any excuse to not refund or offer an alternative.

Went for food with friends, food was hot and delicious and at a good price

12 of us came to lunch after my Grandads funeral. 12 mains, multiple sides and deserts for all plus drinks throughout the afternoon. Service was absolutely amazing and they couldn't do more to help us. Food was piping hot and everything tasted amazing. Such good value for money! Will 100% be returning and we are so glad we picked the Turnpike!!

I ordered a table for 14 people on a Saturday afternoon, Scott was very helpful, I put a list of all meals needed a week before. We arrived, staff were very friendly and helpful. Meals all came out at once and were very tasty and good value for money. We were not rushed. I would definitely book here again and highly recommend. Thankyou very much to Scott and his staff.

Came in here with my gyal the other day. Absolutely 💯 banging steak, my missus got the gyros wrap and that was proper pucker too. Will be back again Absolutely mint.
