The best restaurants in Purbeck South West

If you like swimming in everyone else's urine when you do go to the toilet this is the place for you! A village pub that has been killed by a real lack of due care. Place is disgustingly filthy with sticky floors and god knows what smells. Always seems to be an attitude on the lady barmaid when she is forced to do some work and not lie on the sofa. Owners of the establishment should be really ashamed. An outsider to the village that has spent many nights in the drax it really is a shame to see it killed by incompetence and I recommend the owners should get a mop out once in a while

My friend and I have a great lunch, perfectly cooked. The staff were amazing very attentive. We would highly recommend and we’ll definitely be returning ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely the best meal had in a long time.staff all so very friendly.they were wonderful with the children and dietry needs.and my husband who was accidentally 45 mins late,was happily forgiven.thank you all.

Fabulous location overlooking Poole Harbour. Food and service were excellent. Will definitely return on our next holiday in the area.

This is a lovely friendly restaurant with great food & great service. Our waitress was Daisy - she was friendly, professional and demonstrated the best in customer service. As an example we sat near open windows and requested from the woman who seemed to be in charge of the team to close them as it was draughty - she said it got very hot in there. When I explained not for me sitting beneath them she said 'I can close one (of four!) and did. When Daisy arrived she saw windows were open - thought about customers first and without asking just closed them. What a difference one person can make. Fantastic food, great atmosphere and Daisy! I don't understand. Super-looking pub, great staff, nice food (even if menu is a little short on choices). But only open 3 nights a week? It deserves better!

Fish was cooked lovely. Long John went out of his way to make sure his customers were happy. When you see his dedication and the service of his staff you know you will be going back again.

Lovely friendly pub, staff are always helpful and welcoming, the food is good and they offer a range of entertainment over the weekend and regular quiz nights etc during the week.

The barman was friendly and I appreciated that he proactively checked my dietary requirements and didn’t make me feel like a pain for being vegan. We had lovely meals sat in the cute garden with generous portions. It is very close to the sika trail car park for walks in the forest.

We were staying at South Lytchett Manor campsite and this pub was recommended by them. We ate there two nights in a row. Last night’s meal was OK but I would say that my asparagus risotto was fairly bland. Tonight’s experience was frankly shocking! Following a couple of garlic bread starters, tasty but soggy, according to my niece and nephew, it seems that the kitchen then lost out ticket. Over an hour later and after mentioning it to two members of staff our five mains did finally turn up. Our roast beef was not pink, it was brown and chewy, our roast potatoes salty. The veg served with the main were Ok and the only bit we enjoyed. Our sides of cauliflower cheese were bland and undercooked and our pigs in blanket’s completely overcooked and like bullets. It was my partners 60th and so it was incredibly disappointing. The serving staff did their best and they knew that the wait and quality of food was unacceptable and took £65 off the bill but honestly it was an awful experience. The only positive is that they seemed to be really dog friendly and for that reason I would pop in there, but only for a drink.

We had a lovely Sunday dinner after visiting Corfe Castle. The pub was VERY busy so be sure to book ahead. They were more than happy for our children, age 5 and 8, to share a meal. Food and service very good.

We had booked a table weeks in advance and people who were in front of us who hadn't booked was given a decent table . Where as we were seated at a table that was central point where everyone was walking around and draughty. We expressed our disappointment and where told there were no other tables yet there was and I again expressed our unhappiness where we sat and asked to move to a vacant table that was a bit more secluded. Waited ages for our salads which were vertually thrown in front of us by a young guy . Terrible service food medioca. Won't be going back.

Great pub! Just walked in to a welcoming reception and was served a great pint and smokehouse food - beef, pork - delicious. Dog friendly. People friendly. What’s not to like!

Don’t eat here staff are disgustingly rude! Rainbow kebab across the road is much more worth the money! Don’t know why the staff thinks it’s okay to talk to customers rude and try talk behind their back and then expect their money! Rude before we even ordered a drink!

We had the Chorizo bites, which were nice but not very hot. Halloumi fries with chilli jam as a side which were lovely. For mains i had the Duck confit which was beautifully cooked and the gravy was lovely. My partner had the burger which he enjoyed but thought the bun was stale. Overall it was a good experience, especially due to the atmosphere and we would come back :)
