Really nice pub, good beers, nice menu and everybody enjoyed their food. There was a large number of us and the food arrived in great time. Thank you!

Held work leaving do here. A group of almost 20 for lunch with a few staying on for the rest of afternoon and into evening. Not a lot of customers besides. At 8.30pm told no more service because they considered we had enough to drink with no further explanation! A substantial amount of money had been spent by the group, will not be returning again

This pub offers a good selection of beer and honest pub food. The waiters are very attentive and their table service is excellent. I can definitely recommend a visit when you're staying in Wool (e.g. for Tiger Day).

Fantastic place to dine. Very child friendly and the children's menu is good. Drinks wise there is plenty on offer aswel as a great wine list. The food is superb. Personally I always go for the chorizo chicken because in my opinion nothing else compares to it. It is amazing. The roast on a Sunday is also great. Lots of vegetables and plenty of gravy. The outside area is lovely and well kept. The toilets have always been immaculate when we have gone in. The restaurant itself is also very well presented and the tables are a decent space apart from others which is a nice change. There is a dog friendly area near the bar. Very child friendly . Staff are polite and helpful Cannot and have not faulted this pub once in all the times we have been here.

We stopped off for a pint after visiting the tank museum, good service, The place was busy but we did not have to wait long to be served. Good amount of parking spaces, with disabled places too. Worth a visit

Lovely pub, friendly staff, great food. Five of us had lunch here today, as we are from other parts of the country we had not been to The Ship Inn before. The food was great, with very generous portions, the staff were all friendly, plenty of parking and spotless loos! Highly recommended.

Went for sunday roast ,,they were fully booked until 4.30pm , as I said when on phone wanting roast . Got there to find out they had no roast left .very disappointed as traveled from swanage to get roast as its very good . Had some food off the menu ,not same . My food was ok ,but friends not that good ,she was not happy .

Great service and delicious food. We went for Sunday lunch on Mother's day following a personal recommendation and weren't disappointed. The food was delicious and good value, there was a great selection of vegetables and all was cooked to perfection, service was time was just right and staff friendly and helpful.

The food was quite nice. It was quiet due to I guess the time of day that we arrived. I would imagine its busier at the evenings and weekends when people are not at work? My son enjoyed his pizza from the kids menu which. I enjoyed the fish and chips and the homemade tartar sauce was very nice

Another lovely meal in The Ship. Great food and service and dog friendly. Specials board picks a nice change and lamb was superb.

We ordered meat faggots, fish and chips, and bread with olives as a starter. The bread wasn't baked in the restaurant, just a regular baguette from Tesco, sliced and heated on the grill with very poor quality olive oil. We paid £8.95 for this baguette (a disaster). As for the meat faggots, they were okay, nothing special, but the mashed potato was very mediocre and tasteless, almost like powdered potatoes, while the vegetables were overcooked. The fish and chips were dripping in oil, especially the fries, likely because the frying oil was old. The service was okay, nothing special for a country side pub with city prices.

We ordered a few starters, including the delicious camembert, which we shared with hot bread and homemade onion chutney. I had chicken and chorizo, while my wife had sea bass and my daughter had the traditional scampi and chips. The chicken with its chorizo-flavored sauce was delicious, as was the freshness of my wife's sea bass, and my daughter's scampi had those crispy chips on the outside and soft inside, and she enjoyed them a lot. all washed down with a good Sicilian Nero d'Avola which went perfectly with our food. Not to forget the desserts, which are classic pub desserts, but they are homemade, so you can spot the quality of the ingredients. We are waiting for another occasion to try the Sunday roast, which I heard is good too. Thank you so much for making our day.

Great traditional food, polite and friendly staff

Food was amazing all the staff are very polite and well mannered. Made us feel welcome from the minute we stepped in to their establishment.

Popped in on the way home from Weymouth after a few days away. We are a family group of 13 and they were very helpful, great service very good menu and the food was excellent 👌 highly recommended will definitely go back again when we are that way 😀

Unable to cope with large bookings gad to wait for food to come out so we could all eat at the same time . When it came to dessert we were missing at least 5 if it wasn’t for who’s birthday it was helping out giving out the food it wouldn’t have gone well need to be more experienced in large bookings

Every time we come to Dorset we visit the ship in we have had lunch evening meals and Sunday lunch . They are the best !!! We haven’t had a bad meal yet . Great place to eat!

First time going and wont be the last. We didnt plan on going and was dissapointed there was no roasts left. So i had next best thing faggots mash n gravy. Was awsome. My partner wanted in so we shared our meals he had steak n mush pie. That was lovely but faggots won. Dessert we shared between us as we were full. Sticky toffee pud and icecream. Very light and very moreish icecream.

During our recent visit to Ship Inn Wool, my partner and I encountered an unfortunate experience that compelled me to share our feedback. To our surprise, an unexpected charge of £4.50 for peppercorn sauce was added to both of our meals. This was not disclosed during the ordering process, nor was it mentioned on the menu. Transparency in pricing is crucial for customer satisfaction, and regrettably, this was lacking on this occasion. I attempted to address this issue with the manager on duty, but my initial efforts were in vain. Despite being told that the manager had visited our table, they remained elusive. This left us feeling even more frustrated. It was disappointing that the manager did not make themselves available to address our concerns during our visit. While we have always appreciated the quality of service and food at Ship Inn, this experience has left us feeling dissatisfied and has raised concerns about pricing transparency. I encourage the management to review their pricing policies and ensure that all additional charges are communicated clearly to customers at the time of ordering. This simple adjustment can greatly enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as an opportunity for improvement. We look forward to hearing from Ship Inn regarding this matter. The food we received was of a good standard so thank you to the kitchen staff for providing a good meal.

Bit difficult to find the ENTRANCE when arriving on foot. But having solved that problem the rest of the experience was pure delight. Friendly welcoming staff, nice cosy atmosphere with quiet nooks and crannies if you want peace. Menu nicely varied and generous portions.

Back again tonight as know from few weeks ago how fantastic everything at the Ship Inn was. From the wonderful warm welcome from the staff, spotless and welcoming atmosphere and terrific food once again. I had the scampi and my partner had the bean casserole. They were both cooked to perfection. Lots of smiles on staffs faces and only too pleased to help. Credit to good management. We looked at pudding menu and we don’t normally have puddings but they sounded just too nice to resist. I had waffle 🧇 and partner had sponge and custard. OMG!!! Divine 😋😋 Great prices too. Will be back soon 😊 Highly recommend everything about Ship Inn. Defo 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Stopped in while on a quick trip south to see the Tank Museum. Got into Wool later than I expected but had a great dinner at the Ship Inn. Portions were very generous - I had the Chorizo Ships Inn Chicken & mash. Was nice to have 'real' food after a couple days of travel!

Large fairly standard brewery chain pub. Pleasant garden and food seemed popular. The Badger best bitter was sold out. Second visit asked specifically for beer from handpump, was told what was available and brought keg. Yuk. Badger best was fine. Always at least 1cask beer usually Fursty.Ferret.Serves food all day

Popped in for lunch. We received prompt attention and friendly service from the young team. We sat outside and the garden area was pleasant with tidy tables but the standout was the food: we both had the steak burgers with extras and they were absolutely gorgeous, moist and so tasty with crispy, fluffy chips. The only disappointment was that two of the pumps were closed so a limited choice of ales. Otherwise, I am very happy to recommend the Ship to all.

Absolutely loved it!! We arrived here without a booking just after potentially the busiest time - lunch - and received the warmest greeting, which was very welcome as it was something of a special day, my mothers 87th birthday. The staff here didn't know this, but we were treated almost like royalty. The food was amazing, ample portions, mum and I had a whitebait starter but as a main course and I'm fairly sure that between us we had an entire shoal of these delicious little fish!! Everything was spot on, the decor, the staff, everything, couldn't fault any of it. My 2nd visit here, the 1st was over 40 years ago under entirely different circumstances and I was delighted to see little had changed fundamentally, in fact many improvements have been made. Suffice it to say we will be back when in the area again and I urgently advise any hungry travellers in the area to seek this place out - you won't regret it!!

Staying nearby and popped in for dinner. Our drinks order arrived swiftly, but we were then sat waiting for at least 25 minutes to place our food order. Eventually, I gave up and conceded that we'd been forgotten about. Our seats were tucked away a little out of sight. It happens sometimes. No problem. I got up and walked to the nearest member of staff and asked if we could order. "SOMEONE WILL BE WITH YOU IN A MINUTE!?!" was the stern and agitated reply, as if I was being difficult. The staff member turned and stomped off, seemingly affronted. Our order was taken two minutes later, and everything was prompt afterwards, but I couldn't help feel as if we'd been earmarked as 'the difficult ones.' As we were leaving, I said a cheery & clearly audible thank you directly to the staff behind the bar (the person I'd approached earlier and one of our servers). There was no reply. Not even faux-politeness. Simply ignored. Oops - probably should have dashed back and removed that tip from our table!! Doesn't look like this place has bad reviews in general, so maybe just caught one or two people on an off night. Or perhaps this pub is more for locals and less welcoming towards tourists. Regardless, I'd advise you to book elsewhere. Other pubs in this area have warmer vibes, friendlier staff and speedier service.

We always love going back to the 'Ship Inn Wool'. It always has very pleasant memories of previous times. The staff are great.

Went here for a meal early evening and although we hadn’t booked were welcomed. The menu was quite comprehensive and we both decided to have a starter and certainly didn’t have to wait too long to have it served. Both were delicious. It didn’t take too long for the main course to arrive and we both ordered the venison rump. We both asked for medium rare but thought it was nearer well done. I found it a bit chewy but my husband managed it better. The onion mash and vegetables were really nice. Neither of us could manage a dessert. The staff were very efficient and friendly and there was a good atmosphere, especially as more diners came in. Would recommend.

Value for money, lovely gardens, dog friendly, clean and tidy. Staff helpful. Only problem is its on the main road in wool so not very quiet or peaceful. If you have come for a chill out in Dorset but don't mind the traffic noise then its OK.

The food was exceptional. Who is the chef there deserves all the praise. I enjoyed until the last piece.

We dropped in, hoping to get a meal. A table was found in the bar, as we had my dog. We had a very friendly welcome. The menu was extensive. We decided on Scampi and I had faggots. To say they were the best I've ever had is an understatement, I even emailed the butcher. The scampi was good, too. We both had Dorset apple cake, which again was beautiful. The whole meal was excellant, and I was glad we stopped. in fact, we are going back tomorrow for Sunday lunch.

The food was excellent. Can recommend the chicken burger, lamb chops and goats cheese tart. Couldn’t fault the place. Not too expensive and a great meal with good sized portions and fresh vegetables. There was a bit of a problem with our order but the guy that ran the place got that sorted straight away which is why I’d still give them full points! Would definitely go back.

Meal and service were both ok. Had run out of a fair few dishes, cod and chips, lasagna and one other item on the specials board. Food was tasty and satisfying.

The good is good, apart from the sausages. I think they are Richmond's or something like. Very natty. The rest of the food was great. I asked for a rare steak and got it.

During our holiday to Dorset we had 2 meals here. Once lunch and another dinner. The pub is well-maintained, fully staffed and well-ran. The food was outstanding 10/10. Can’t fault it at all. Desserts and mains, every item ordered were delicious. We’d spent a small fortune at the nearby Man O’ War restaurant the night before and it was truly abysmal. Some of the young waitressing staff weren’t the best hostesses but the food well and truly makes up for it. Hats off to the chef.

Service and atmosphere wonderful. Two meals were perfect,Fish&Chips and the Minted Lamb burger were great. Faggots however were very tough and the creamy mash was full of hard lumps..not offered an alternative.
