Came here for the first time , you have to enter your number plate when you get inside . The pub itself was nice , very varied people from bikers to grandmas . Menu wasn’t the biggest or most varied but saying that what we had was lovely . Very affordable for 5 of us it was just over £100 ! That’s drinks mains & desserts .

We went with a large group of diners. Always tricky to serve a choice of menu to a large number of guests. The food was pretty spot on. Very tasty. Very nicely cooked and presented. My issue is with a large group a table by table approach is better than one that meant your fellow diners on your table had practically finished their course as yours arrived. My experience was made more embarrassing by saying to a waitress we were still needing one more plate ( which I thought they had finished serving as she was stood in the room not bringing plates out ) to be told that they hadn’t finished service and to give them a chance. I obviously apologised as I thought they had. But most of the diners had finished their course before the last plate was served. I felt very embarrassed. Maybe a table by table approach would of caused less confusion

Well what can I say ! What a lovely hidden gem. Booked a Winter warmer deal - omg were we happy!!!?. Nights stay, great room, great staff, great food. The staff are obvs happy here. Happy friendly, helpful. Arrived on the Saturday afternoon, drank wine on the terrace until the sun went in and got chilly. Rooms are lush. Walked in lights on, window open for fresh air and sun shining through, radio on low, little personal written note from house keeping, fluffy white towels.... so welcoming. Smelt lovely, very clean, comfy beds, great deco and design. Restaurant was great and not crammed together. Food was great we had a main dish with a starter and a free bottle of wine in our deal. Breakfast did not disappoint either, great selection of continental, fresh cut fruit (not fruit salad and a few grapes) freshly cut melon, pineapple - great selection of cooked also. We did not want to leave, will defo go back. This chain are good guys!

What a lovely traditional independently run pub. We are in the bar in the older thatched part, it felt like a proper old fashioned country pub, simply furnished, friendly staff. The food was great. We both chose liver: a huge portion with creamy mash and fresh veg, very nicely cooked. Proper coffee and tea in a proper pot.

Good quality food in nice surroundings but beware! How to erode your customer base by using a parasitic car park company. We were regulars to this pub. They have sold off the carpark rights to a private car park company. If you don't put your car details in at the bar, (which you are not usually reminded to), but still eat or drink at the pub, you will be fined regardless! Great customer care 👌 Good bye.

Reviewing at the table, which I don't normally do. But it's a totally amazing roast. 4 clean plates. And to finish the most amazing creme brulee and the shortbread was totally 👌 😍. Nice to see somewhere that the team members actually help each other. Not just one server, but everyone was at your service. It's very warm and inviting. Called in last minute at 3pm in the afternoon on a Sunday and plenty of tables. A little Gem. There is only one small downside. Maybe a touch more gravy. But this does not affect the 5 stars this place totally deserves.

visited the pub for the first time today despite visiting the area annually since I was born and I will definitely be back! Prices were reasonable and staff were more than happy to accommodate for food intolerances. Portions were excellent, I had the Cajun Chicken which was modified to accommodate a lactose intolerance and my partner had the steak, both were cooked beautifully and the chips were incredible. We did have a look at the desserts menu but options for dairy free were limited and we were both full so we decided to go without. The waitresses were lovely, and the young lady who took our food order was so patient and kind. My only issue is a lack of vegan mayo but i understand that demand for that may be low in such a small village and so can forgive. Overall a lovely meal and lovely service!! Thank you very much !!!!

Whenever we have been in Purbeck a meal at the King's Arms Stoborough has been a highlight. No longer. Once well known for good cuisine it now all has a deep fried mood. Their menu was over subscribed. They did not have this or that. 2 of the 3 draft ciders were unavailable, only only lamp chop, no salmon..So we did not all get our first choices. The same with the wine. We ordered a bottle of Picpoul de Pinet at £27.95. They didn't have it. So we ordered a Pinot Grigio Blush at £23.95. I didn't notice when I paid the bill but we still were charged for the Picpoul. So we were overcharged. That like the food left a sour taste in the mouth. I bet my bottom dollar that if the replacement wine had been £4 more expensive they would have charged us the extra. The white bait and the Tempura Prawns were deep fried. The crab cakes were unrecognisable as crab or seafood. They were cloaked in peppers and curry powder. I ate quarter of my portion. The cajun chicken was sub basic pub food. My wife left half of it. We did not request their dessert menu but walked into Wareham to pick a better place. €203 for 6 people badly spent. The staff are friendly but the food is nothing to be proud of. This pub has gone downhill. The food is not value for money. After 20 years of visiting it we will find a replacement which does proper cooking.

Attended lunch with the family over the weekend and had a pleasant enough meal. However, the food wasn't anything I would write home about - but it certainly wasn't bad. Unfortunately, the service left a little to be desired. No place setting was provided for my daughter, and while only 2, it seemed a little odd. Along with this, despite there being a high chair, and menus already on the table, no children's menu was offered until we were sat down and looking through thubgs. A side order was, despite being written down (what what I could see) was not put through the kitchen. This was, however, quickly remedied. When it came to dessert, my daughter's ice cream was forgotten about along with any cutlery for those having dessert. We had to go and ask for it. A minor thing, but providing ice cream in glass stemware seems like an accident waiting to happen with a 2 year old. Nothing egregious and nothing I felt needed raising with the manager at the time, but still worth noting.

Nice environment. Function buffet was good. Good coffee. Nice staff. Have to book car into system. Back for cooked meals. Didn't disappoint. Everyone in my group were very happy with the quality & quantity. Some already planning their return!

Great place to eat and drink dog friendly.only draw back watch out for parking now have to register your car. If not you will get fined by the parking eye. Shame they have done this.maybe they have had parking problems. Just puts me off going when this parking company gets involved they are in it for the money. Sorry for this punt but I have not had good experience with these companies and no I ,ve not parked illegally just their system.

Not the best experience we’ve ever had for sure. Booked a table for a Sunday Roast as we’d been turned away on Good Friday as they were fully booked. Our table was booked for 6pm & sadly by then they’d already run out of Roasts; so they obviously do a good trade or perhaps not enough prep, anyway we ordered from the varied menu & were looking forward to it. I’ll start with the positives, I had the locally made Faggots with Mash & Gravy which was great with lots of flavour, just a shame it came with what I guess is the left over veg from the Roast supplied as an accompaniment (Broccoli, Carrots & Cabbage (the latter being very stringy, almost a theme, you’ll see 😉). My wife had lamb chops which they kindly did with chips for her, sadly when they arrived (with the same left over roast veg side dish) they were very very small/thin lamb chops & it turned out one of them had string attached still, although I’m not sure why a lamb chop would have string on it 🤷‍♂️ We brought this to the attention of the waitress who wasn’t at all worried, good job it wasn’t my meal I’d have been insisting on sending it back, but she who must be obeyed didn’t want to make a fuss. I love me a good dessert & I had the Spotted Dick & Custard from the specials board, sadly it was just ok, I’m guessing homemade as what little fruit was in it had sunk to the bottom. All in all a bit of a disappointing experience & even though we get a discount because we were staying at Whitemead Caravan Park we will not be returning to the Ship Inn during future stays.

Avoid the scotch egg, my husband took a bite and pulled out a big long dark hair. Manager was not in the least interested. Celebrating our daughter’s birthday as a family of 5. Poor service, scruffy disinterested servers, awful atmosphere, 7 main dishes not available on the menu on a Saturday evening at 7pm! After the scotch egg ‘hair’ we decided to pay for our wine and leave…went to The Bear where the service, food and atmosphere were 100%! What the heck has happened to this once iconic ‘flagship’ restaurant?? We are local and been going to The Granary for milestone celebrations for 30 years. H&W need to seriously reevaluate what is going wrong. We will not be going again unless something drastically changes….you need Amy Steel back it was fantastic when she managed it.

After a 4 hr drive, we were looking forward to a drink and maybe something to eat, Open till 19:00 on Sunday it said ! 6 people got there at 16:30 ... CLOSED. We were going to meet 5 relatives there this week but won't bother now. If you can't be bothered to be open as advertised, we can't be bothered to give you our money.
