Fabulous pub run by young and enthusiastic managers and team. We only popped in for a drink, and ended up with one of the nicest roast dinners I've had. We were even welcomed and encouraged by the regulars to join the quiz which was hugely entertaining. In fact we had such a great experience, we went back the next day...oh, and the day after that. Thank you guys for all that you do, it's so nice to see a happy and positive attitude. We will be back when we are next in the area and we can't wait!

Unfortunately this was a disaster from start to finish. We were seated by a server and we had a look at the menu, sadly this was nothing like the menu they offered online and was much more expensive than we had seen online. A party member didn’t like anything on the menu and asked if they could swap for a child’s menu and pay the difference which in return was snapped at by the server saying “absolutely not, no adult can eat the children’s menu”. We ordered some drinks and one was unavailable (which can’t be helped), when the drinks came they messed up two drinks orders, a beer was stale, the ice in peoples drinks tasted like mould and there was an insect floating in another. By this point we decided to pay and leave, very disappointed.

Stopped off here for a meal, popped in to check if ok to bring dogs in and were they serving food, was told yes so unloaded everyone from the car went in and was seated. We were then handed the shortest menu I have ever seen and told they were serving a reduced menu, none of which was very appealing. Should of been advised of this at the point of our initial enquiry, left without ordering.

I have previously written an excellent review of this pub. Unfortunately, after this evenings meal this will be my final review as I will not be visiting there again. My wife and I went in for the chip shop Friday menu as we have on many previous occasions, although it is not a patch on what it was, this was however, explained to me by a member of the management and made perfect sense. As the chip shop menu was pretty sparce my wife ordered a burger from the main menu and I ordered the Haddock from the chip shop menu. When the food arrived I was given the Haddock from the main menu and was told I couldn't have the chip shop menu in the area of the pub I was sitting in (not mentioned when I ordered), despite having the chip shop menu in the same area many times before. When I went to pay I was charged from the main menu despite not ordering it and not being told of any issue. The only difference with my meal compared to the chip shop menu was Peas, so I was effectively charged £7 for a portion of Peas. Suffice to say, regular customer lost and bad review as above.

The staff friendly & lovely pub, just a shame about the food, spring rolls were too hot to eat, we both burnt our mouths, the Angus burger didn't taste like an Angus burger & the fries were too greasy, so left them to take out & give to a homeless person. My mom's pork was tough. Which was a shame as we wanted to pop in three years ago.

Sadly we had a very poor experience at this pub. The menu was very small with only a few choices. The waitress did read off a couple of specials, but because these weren't written down anywhere they are easily forgotten and the waitress just didn't reappear for ages to check. There is NO real children's menu, 2 choices plus a veggie choice, no sausages, fish, pizza.... very disappointing. It took well over an hour for our food to come and we were seated at 5.45pm at which point there was 1 table occupied. My food was dreadful, very plain and uninspiring burger with huge onion rings plonked inside it like a stack, you have to dismantle it to eat and it wasn't good. Hubby's sausages were mediocre. The children's meal were OK but they said they preferred everywhere else we had been this holiday (about 6 different meals out). It took another 30 minutes for the desserts to come (fudge cake) so overall we were there for 2.5 hours. The waitress was lovely, but young and inexperienced, she tried her best but there didn't appear to be anyone actually managing the staff. This place should be a gold mine situated where it is, but once you've been there you will never return.

After looking at their website and menu on their Facebook page we booked a table for 8 for the last night of our family holiday. (We should have checked reviews we usually do) We were shown to our table and drinks ordered as we reviewed the menus we did think where were the Stonebaked pizzas they advertised. (I found them advertised at £15 in a frame in the gents above the urinals🤷🏼‍♂️) The waitress took our order which included 3 Cumberland sausages and mash. About 20 minutes later she returned to say they only had one portion of Cumberland sausage so two of our group chose other meals. A while later she returned to say the had no sausages at all We waited waited over an hour after our order was taken for our meals, when a waitress approached a couple on the next table ,who were there when we arrived, to say “sorry for the delay but we have just had a large order” strange as the place was nearly empty (must be us). She never approached us with an update, an apology for the delay or to ask if we wanted more drinks. Eventually the food arrived and it was described by most as “okay” although my wife’s gammon was dry and chewy. When the bill arrived it had 10 meals on it (2 Cumberland sausages and mash) those removed we paid our bill and left, (nearly 2 and half hours for a single course) Normally we would have chased our order or mentioned our dissatisfaction but we just wanted a pleasant end to our holiday. The staff were polite and cheerful but only in a reactive way It’s a pretty pub so such a shame it’s let down by the delays and mediocre food.

Very dissatisfied. Food took 45 minutes to arrive after ordering. Beef madras for my 12 year old daughter was very dry and hard to chew. Nobody came to ask if our food was good. Popped in for lunch while on holiday. 3 adults & 1 child. The child is Autistic and has ARFID, which means he has a very restricted diet. We always take his own food with him when we eat out. We order and the waitress says its fine for him to eat his packed lunch. 2 minutes later a man, who we assume was the manager, comes out to say he can't eat his own food. We explain his disability but he doesn't care. He tells us it's illegal for him to eat his own food - it's not (it is not illegal but the restaurant is there to sell its own food so can refuse you permission to consume your own food on the premises). We ended up cancelling our order and leaving the almost empty restaurant. We paid £10 for drinks, which we didn't drink, and our food order would have come to around £70 ( more if we'd had puddings) and he refused to see that he was refusing to make an adaptation, for someone with a disability (my grandson is registered as disabled) and just kept telling us it was against the law. This man was not just ignorant about invisible disabilities but came out aggressive and rude. I would avoid this place, like the plague, if you need any adaptations for special needs or support and care about those who have them

Sometimes bringing the dogs to a pub, especially on a busy Sunday you can be made to feel like you are invading but we always get a warm welcome here. The beer is well kept and not too gassy, the food was superb. Sunday roasts, one lamb, one chicken between the two of us. They are very substantial (the dogs got lucky today with leftovers!) we were both stuffed! No one could be cross to be served food of that quality. Pub quiz on a Sunday as well, good chance to test our brain power. All in all a great evening to set ourselves up for a day on the beaches tomorrow!

Historically I have eaten at this pub restaurant and has been great food and service. However, on this occassion although service was good the food was not. The food was bland and not value for money (£16 per main but in my opinion it was only worth £10-12 due to taste and quality) which is a shame. I was told they had staff shortages in the kitchen which may explain this. For this reason too there was only a restricted menu. Some context at Weatherspoons £3.80 the national average is s around £5. £5.90 in Wareham. Now I know it’s a country pub and I have been a licensee for many years, but I for one won’t be returning. We have been to this pub on a number of occasions but the last three times it has got worse & worse. There is no atmosphere - we were seated in a noisy bar (no one seated in the main restaurant) & served 'authentic' fish & chips in their paper! The fish was translucent in the middle as the batter had been cooked at high temperature leaving the inside undercooked and thechips were overcooked. However when we sent it back the 'chef' came out to tell us we were wrong as his probe said the fish was 85°. No apology - just a passive aggressive stance stating we were wrong. We left & won't be returning. The two waitresses who served us were friendly & professional - a pity what they served didn't meet the same standard! We will never go back again!

Note: Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, but there are tables in the bar area that can be booked and are more than suitable. The manager was really helpful and had reserved a table for us. The waitress did not write anything down and had to come back and check on a couple of items. The Fursty Ferret beer and the Sauvignon wine were very good. He looked like he had just slept in a hedge. We got to the table and tried yo look at the menu. There was four of us there, none of us could read the tiny writing. Also the menu was nothing like the menu on line,it also said you could pick something from the specials board, but as there was nothing on it. We couldn't really. We were already having second thoughts. But the scruffy guy eventually came over. We asked about food. He said they did half a chicken or chilli. We had to guess at the price!! We had already orderd drinks,so when the waitress came over. We asked about the menu and the price of the specials. We We're told the menu had chenged, but not botherd to change it on line. Also the chicken was £22!! At this point we totally gave up and decided to get the bill and leave. Just to add insult to injury i was charged £6.50 for a pint of Guinness. We were really pleasantly surprised as most places you get these baskets are abysmal but for only £12 each, we got 3 full size chicken wings with fries and a delicious burger with fries. Drinks were great too and awesome staff! We will be back over our holiday....Thank you very much

What a wonderful, friendly welcome! As a group of 10 family members on holiday with two dogs, we rang to check we could be accommodated and were immediately booked in. The food was absolutely wonderful - both main courses and desserts - and the landlord and staff were all attentive but relaxed. Lovely atmosphere. Would thoroughly recommend.

Nice pub if you like a pheasant menu. Menu not shown on the website. We booked a table as the pizzas are amazing but birthday boy wanted something else. Had to walk out as menu not to his liking

Very good food and service. Unfortunately the restaurant menu was difficult to read and did not have meal prices. Drinks were expensive.

3pm. Walked into pub and up to bar. Landlord asked if I was ok. I replied yes thanks. He then turned his back on me to show staff member how to make a coffee. Didn’t call staff to help me. Didn’t say let me get someone to serve you. Nothing. Just left me stood there waiting. Once staff came to the bar I was served adequately. Ordered bottle of wine which was overpriced but hey ho. Took menus outside to ponder what we might order to eat. Wine was warm. No ice in bucket. Very small menu and that’s ok but no allergy info which is worrying. Ordered steak pie and mash and beer battered fish with chips. Asked if we could swap to have chips with pie and mash with fish and was told this would be too much for the chef. When the food arrived, we initially declined any sauces but then changed our mind. Went into bar to get sauce and staff member (the same one who had coffee machine training) walked past me to go behind bar. She then came back out from kitchen and went to walk past me again. I stopped her and asked for sauce. She gave me some sauce and when I got back to my table I realised it was empty. I go back to the bar again and ask for a new sauce and was given a full bottle. Staff member came out to do a check back but we had barely picked up our cutlery so at that point all was ok. Chips were crunchy yet fluffy and very nice. As I cut deeper into my fish I realised parts of it were not white and flaky but gooey and undercooked bordering on raw. I left those bits to one side. Overall the pie and mash were ok but nothing special. Fish and chips was less than ok as soggy and raw in places. The pub itself was unloved in the outside area. Was tired, scruffy and generally needed a bit of tlc. There were weeds in places and it was generally scruffy and untidy. I understand that training new staff for the season is essential but not role modelling good customer service is not ok. Opportunity to be fab is within grasp but not being grabbed by current landlord. Could be so much better if they up their game a bit.

I am a local and stopped going to the silent woman for evening meals some years ago as they were very disappointing but we heard that it had new owners. What a difference !! It’s now run by a lovely family it happened to be fish and chip Friday so the 4 of us had fish and chips at £10 each ! Absolutely well prepared and cooked ,not frozen chips ,great friendly service and very nice deserts . Good luck for the future we will see you again.

I can't recommend this place enough! Amazing service, friendly welcome and so accommodating. We booked a late table on Mothers Day for a family meal for a table of 6. When we arrived we were the last table of the day. We had the Sunday Roast which was out of this world! Good size portion, lots of meat and that gravy!!! I don't know how you guys make it but please don't ever change it! It was lush! The desserts were good too and we all had such a lovely time. This was quite a special meal due to mums that are no longer with us, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for a wonderful experience as a family :)

A lovely cosy traditional pub, a family run business that went up and beyond welcoming us and our two dogs. It was our first time taking dogs in a pub so a little anxious, but we were soon pleasantly surprised and looked after by a adorable little lady that has a real passion for dogs and spoiled them with a constant offering of treats x The food ( Fish & chips Friday) was outstanding. We will definitely be returning And would like to thank them for everything!

Called into this pub last night and was greeted by incredibly friendly staff. We arrived minutes before their kitchen closed and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. A real pub with real pub grub (my wife had a delicious chicken lasagne and I had a superb scampi and chips). All in a great traditional, proper pub. Will definitely be back!!

First and only time I would ever go to this place.. We only wanted a drink and a snack. The lady behind the bar was so rude. Told us we could only have a soft drink in a certain size glass after us asking for a pint of it. She heard us mention snacks and repeatedly said that a small standard bag of crisps was £2.60!!!!! Shockingly expensive. The women's toilets had carpet which I think is extremely unhygienic. Wont be going back.

Had a very enjoyable meal at The Silent Woman earlier this week. Despite being a quiet Monday night partly due to a road closure outside the pub the hosts were very welcoming and went out of there way to please. In particular having informed in advance of a non meat eating diet the chef cooked up a delicious plant based Spanish Chicken style dish. Coupled with a very nice selection of beers and wines I am looking forward to a return visit next time I am visiting the Wareham area.

The worst ceaser salad I've ever eaten in my 38 years. I may aswell have drank a bottle of dressing. It was completely soggy and wet. I did make this clear as I'd not eaten all day so I could eat out, but nothing was offered to accommodate me. I couldn't even eat half of it and I can eat. Not worth it for me and I won't be going back to eat . Absolute joke.

Stopped to eat here for a Sunday lunch but the menu was really only sandwiches so didn't stay. The bar was very quiet and so I would say that this place is not really set up as an eating establishment. Probably a good local pub.
