We have been to this pub on a number of occasions but the last three times it has got worse & worse. There is no atmosphere - we were seated in a noisy bar (no one seated in the main restaurant) & served 'authentic' fish & chips in their paper! The fish was translucent in the middle as the batter had been cooked at high temperature leaving the inside undercooked and thechips were overcooked. However when we sent it back the 'chef' came out to tell us we were wrong as his probe said the fish was 85°. No apology - just a passive aggressive stance stating we were wrong. We left & won't be returning. The two waitresses who served us were friendly & professional - a pity what they served didn't meet the same standard! We will never go back again!

The staff at the CAMC campsite recommended The Silent Woman Inn, so we walk the 0.4 miles along the road (be aware there is no footpath). We called ahead of time just to ensure we had a table booked dinner for 2 adults and 1 dog. Note: Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, but there are tables in the bar area that can be booked and are more than suitable. The manager was really helpful and had reserved a table for us. The waitress did not write anything down and had to come back and check on a couple of items. The Fursty Ferret beer and the Sauvignon wine were very good. We ordered Fish & Chips which came wrapped in paper and the Coldharbour Stack (chicken burger) which was tasty, but the chicken could have been slightly larger as it was small. We would go back if we stayed at the same campsite.

We came here for a Sunday roast after a recommendation by a friend who had said it was one of the best roasts they’ve ever had! Two of our party asked if they could have a selection of meat rather than the standard 1 and the kitchen was happy to accommodate which was great. The roast was delicious and the meat was cooked perfectly. Even the beef was pink, which is just how we like it, not many pubs serve beef like this so we were very impressed. The roast came with a selection of vegetables which were all freshly cooked, a giant Yorkshire pudding and tasty gravy! We were served very quickly, and our meals came out in a timely manner too. I’d come back here again for a Sunday roast and recommend to friends!

I've been visiting this establishment since 1978. Not regularly, but every now and again. Each time, a different proprietor but always worth a visit. Today, however, I immediately took a dislike to the loud fellow who like to call all gentlemen 'Young man'. The food, unfortunately, was second rate. I left mine. Which very rarely happens. Enough said. Never going back.

Was recommended by a friend. Looked at the menu on line, looked like a good selection. Booked a table for6.15 sat night. We got to the pub. The first thing you noticed, was it smelt like a damp dog in there. It was dark and unwelcoming. We were shown to our seat's by a guy. I take it he was the landlord. He looked like he had just slept in a hedge. We got to the table and tried yo look at the menu. There was four of us there, none of us could read the tiny writing. Also the menu was nothing like the menu on line,it also said you could pick something from the specials board, but as there was nothing on it. We couldn't really. We were already having second thoughts. But the scruffy guy eventually came over. We asked about food. He said they did half a chicken or chilli. We had to guess at the price!! We had already orderd drinks,so when the waitress came over. We asked about the menu and the price of the specials. We We're told the menu had chenged, but not botherd to change it on line. Also the chicken was £22!! At this point we totally gave up and decided to get the bill and leave. Just to add insult to injury i was charged £6.50 for a pint of Guinness. No wonder the pub was empty at 18.00 on a Saturday night.

3pm. Walked into pub and up to bar. Landlord asked if I was ok. I replied yes thanks. He then turned his back on me to show staff member how to make a coffee. Didn’t call staff to help me. Didn’t say let me get someone to serve you. Nothing. Just left me stood there waiting. Once staff came to the bar I was served adequately. Ordered bottle of wine which was overpriced but hey ho. Took menus outside to ponder what we might order to eat. Wine was warm. No ice in bucket. Very small menu and that’s ok but no allergy info which is worrying. Ordered steak pie and mash and beer battered fish with chips. Asked if we could swap to have chips with pie and mash with fish and was told this would be too much for the chef. When the food arrived, we initially declined any sauces but then changed our mind. Went into bar to get sauce and staff member (the same one who had coffee machine training) walked past me to go behind bar. She then came back out from kitchen and went to walk past me again. I stopped her and asked for sauce. She gave me some sauce and when I got back to my table I realised it was empty. I go back to the bar again and ask for a new sauce and was given a full bottle. Staff member came out to do a check back but we had barely picked up our cutlery so at that point all was ok. Chips were crunchy yet fluffy and very nice. As I cut deeper into my fish I realised parts of it were not white and flaky but gooey and undercooked bordering on raw. I left those bits to one side. Overall the pie and mash were ok but nothing special. Fish and chips was less than ok as soggy and raw in places. The pub itself was unloved in the outside area. Was tired, scruffy and generally needed a bit of tlc. There were weeds in places and it was generally scruffy and untidy. I understand that training new staff for the season is essential but not role modelling good customer service is not ok. Opportunity to be fab is within grasp but not being grabbed by current landlord. Could be so much better if they up their game a bit.

Despite being a quiet Monday night partly due to a road closure outside the pub the hosts were very welcoming and went out of there way to please. We waited for this pub to open at 1200 after a long wet dog walk in Wareham Forest. Desperate for a hot cup of coffee! The pub was freezing and smelt bad. I went to use the toilet facilities and the remains of someone having used the toilet were still there...it was brown. We ordered teas and coffees. I asked for a cappuccino. However what came out was a large cup of extremely thick hot milk, like a latte but I couldn't even taste the coffee. Nevertheless it wasn't a cappuccino I don't think the bartender ever knew what a cappuccino was. I asked for another drink and the bartender gave me another shot of coffee to add to my large cup of milk. It was tasteless. I took one more sip and left. Also very expensive. Looking back, it felt like the pub and staff were not ready to open up. There was a dirty knife on the floor and left over chewing gum stuck to the table which my dog was trying to lick off. The worst experience.. will never go back and do not recommend anyone go there either.

We attended the empty restaurant for lunch amid pleasant surroundings. The acceptable food quality however, did not justify or quite match the high price tariff. The staff and service was fine. I think we were just hoping for something a little bit above average to match the pricing structure. Perhaps the feel and ambience within the restaurant struggled a little as the restaurant remained fundamentally empty. As a result of this first encounter we felt that we probably would not rush back for a second visit - which is a pity.

We were staying in a nearby campsite, which was a 40 minute walk to the pub through the forest. The menu on a Sunday offered traditional Sunday lunch and offered pizzas and hotdogs which I tried to order two hotdogs and chips but you had to eat those outside because from a snack shack but couldn’t see this outside anywhere? No where did it state this on the menu, it was a chilly day and didn’t fancy eating in the cold so declined food so a loss of revenue to the pub. Their peanuts and crisps are an expensive option too for £2.30. The staff were very friendly and they have dog friendly and dog free areas. Don’t go to this pub. We went on Sunday evening and were treated very badly by a very rude older woman. We were meeting family here for a 6:30 reservation. On our way from Christchurch, when only a few miles away, we came to a...

This pub has changed hands in the last year. We had a lovely meal; my wife had the stuffed pork loin and I had the 12oz rump steak. The steak was cooked to perfection and the pork loin was excellent. The staff are very friendly and the pub is dog friendly. It's only 1/2 mile from Hunter's Moon camp site and there's a path to walk, without going near the road.

They hosted my mothers 80th birthday. Everything from the atmosphere, the staff to the food was incredible. We then went back a few days later for lunch and all had a fantastic meal. I haven’t been to this pub for nearly 25 years, and now it will be one I go to every time I’m in Wareham. I really can’t rave about this pub enough!!

After a long journey down for a weekend away with the kids we popped in for a spare of the moment booking. Very accommodating and booked us in before we arrived 15minutes later! We were greeted and shown our table and were made to feel very welcome. We had the Sunday roast beef which was outstanding. As a Sunday roast pro this ranks there in the top 3 I've had. The beef was like butter and the gravy was delicious... would happily sit and dunk potatoes and bread into the gravy all night long. A very good pub wish it was more local to us! Thankyou

We recently had the pleasure of dining at The Silent Woman Inn in Wareham. We were immediately greeted by the friendly and welcoming staff, who made us feel right at home. Our little son was also made to feel very welcome. We all had roast dinners, which were absolutely delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection, and the vegetables were perfectly roasted. The gravy was rich and flavorful, and the Yorkshire puddings were light and fluffy. We were impressed by the fact that the food was fresh and locally sourced. We could tell that the chef took great care in preparing our meals, and it showed in the taste. The service was also excellent. Our food came out quickly, and our drinks were always topped up. The staff were attentive and friendly, and they went out of their way to make sure we had a great dining experience. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at The Silent Woman Inn. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in Wareham.

We ate here 4 times in the week we stayed in Wareham Forrest. It's not just because it was the closest pub that did food, it was good every time. Ok it has its quirks but we love a bit of character and the food...

Ate here twice in the second week of August. Pizzas were better than we have had in many Italian restaurants ! Nice pub and brilliant friendly service. Second visit had a super burger and the veggie curry, both were excellent. Would highly recommend.
