We were a walk in couple and seated by a very pleasant lady. Her colleague served us drinks quite promptly, and we ordered our food. My wife chose the braised beef, which she enjoyed, but the portion size was small. I ordered the vegetable tart with rosemary and garlic potatoes with a side salad. Whilst the tart was superb, the potatoes had been re-heated and were inedible. I mentioned this to the server but no allowance was made on the bill, and there was a 10% service charge, which we paid. It is in a lovely location but really needs to do better food wise. I could not recommend on this visit.

Booked a table well in advance for 8 of us as half term and thought they would be busy. Arrived snd table was placed right in front of the coffee bar with no space around us at all. The waitress was very stony faced..a French lady..no chat or engagement whatsoever. The food was good. A mixture of burgers, fish and chips and pie although some more seasonal veg with the pies would have been nice. We noticed the same waitress giving another family very hard stares as their toddler walked around, she wasn’t disturbing anyone as empty in that part of restaurant. There were two other waitress's who smiled and engaged a little but the atmosphere was not relaxed. We won’t return as not made to feel welcome as a family. We have noticed previous reviews get the usual reply from head office…please please read the reviews and act on them, not just a standard auto bot reply!

The lay out of the pub was very inviting, and comfortable, but as soon as we walked through the door, we were not made feel welcome by the lady who was there, and was very arkward, the lady needs to inprove her customer servise skills, we continued to order a drink, the lady behind the bar was very nice and chatty, we were going to eat but after not being made feel welcome, and the food was very expensive we decided no to eat

A very disappointing visit to The Old Granary. Three of us for lunch. One had halloumi wrap - which was cold (she had previously had the same in another Hall and Woodhouse pub and that one was hot), one had pulled mushrooms on ciabatta which was inedible. I had a starter - smoked mackerel pate with ciabatta toasts and pickled cucumber. Very poor value for money at £8.25. It consisted of a blob of pate, 3 very small pieces of toast which was rock hard and seemed to have come from a pack, a sprinkling of the cucumber and a scattering of poor looking green leaf (possibly lambs lettuce??) I had to ask for some bread. The pate itself was quite nice. We have been here before but won’t be repeating the visit. When we expressed our concerns to a member of staff we were simply told that all three choices were popular with no complaints. We went with the intention of enjoying lunch, we were not looking to find fault. I regret not taking photos.

The worst ceaser salad I've ever eaten in my 38 years. I may aswell have drank a bottle of dressing. It was completely soggy and wet. I did make this clear as I'd not eaten all day so I could eat out, but nothing was offered to accommodate me. I couldn't even eat half of it and I can eat. Not worth it for me and I won't be going back to eat . Absolute joke.

Lovely venue, and the food was fantastic. Lovely atmosphere and location. Bar and most waiting staff seemed untrained, unhelpful, and uninterested. Got served a pint with a 2 inch gap from top of the glass and got sighed at when I asked for it to be corrected. Had to ask for previous tables plates and glasses to be removed after sitting for 20 minutes with them stacked up at the side of the table - it wasn't busy. Most of the staff wandered around aloof and unaware of the need to be aware. Didn't detract from a lovely evening though, I probably wouldn't risk eating there if it was busy.

As a local, the Granary is seen as a staple of Wareham. It’s such a nice place on the Quay. However, every time I have gone it has always disappointed me. The food is good, depending on what you get, i’ve never been disappointed but also never impressed. The coffee is good coffee but you can find better in Wareham. My main disappointment is the service. The younger staff are usually pleasant and provide good service, but the older staff (that i’ve experienced) have never been directly rude, but just cold and half the time I feel like I’m a massive inconvenience. No effort to smile or anything. I’d say the Quay Inn is a better option.

I had what is possibly the worst cooked English breakfast in my life. Every item on the plate had an issue and the portion was rather pathetic for the price. When I pointed out to the apathetic waitress that the chargrilled bread was burnt she responded that that's how it's meant to be lol. She never returned with replacements. The whole sad ensemble was towered over by an enormous cooked tomato and it seemed the cook had probably focussed on preparing this rather than paying attention to the bacon, which was so dry it brittled upon touch. Very disappointing.

Our experience at the Old Granary left us with mixed emotions and sadly we won't return. this was our third lunch here and we were excited to bring a good friend with us. We are not local to the area and had not vistied on a Saturday before. On our arrival we were surprised to find that the parking area was filled with a market and we had no idea where we could park. We pulled over and our guest popped in to enquire as to where we could find parking. He was met by a frosty unhelpful lady who shrugged and said she didn't know, and by her attitutude she didn't care either. Fortunately when stopping the gentleman also assiting at front of house, some directions to parking were proferred. The first impression for our guest though was not what we had hoped for. Our table was in a loud and busy area, which would have made it impossible for conversation, something to note when making your booking. Fortunately, and a plus on the service experience, we were able to be seated in a quieter area. The Old Granary is an attractively detailed pub and we liked the decor. Issey, our server was fabulous. Great smile, engaging and she rescued the lunch on the whole. Food wise, we had the Larder sharing platter which was well presented and tasty, classic fish and chips, the chicken and bacon pie, and the sirloin. The sirloin was not the best and quite pricey even for steak, and was a bit of a disappointment. After a rainy day the sun evetually broke through the clouds and we wanted to take advantage of the deck area alongside the river for a drink and dessert. As requested duly settled our account and headed outside with our drinks, I popped inside for a menu to be told by front of house that because of the weather no food was being served outside, not even dessert. This was in case the rain returned and we needed to come inside and tables were not available. It was late afternoon, between sittings with many empty tables, and when settling our lunch bill I had stated we wanted to have dessert outside and was told that this would not be a problem. We were a table of 3 an our bill was about £50per person... Overall not very hospitable, and not what we expected from our previous lunches a disappointing end to our afternoon.

Came for lunch, only had an hour as on a boat cruise so choose picky bits. Bar staff explained to another customer on the same cruise, no delays for food when we were ordering. Food arrived in stages, had to ask where my sons food was and in the end he had to take half of it with him back to the boat and we also had to rush our food because of the delays. 5 mins before we left, I had to go to the bar staff and ask for the money back on the food that never even arrived. Such a lovely setting but the service was very disappointing and when asking why - no explanation for these delays were given.

Firstly we ordered our drinks which took forever to arrive. After asking where were our drinks we ordered food. 5 mins later we were told 1 item was no longer available,ok so we ordered the same roast. 45 mins later after several enquires our meal arrived. Roast potatoes were dried up eighths with a small variety of veg. The beef was not pink as description on menu. We were still hungary so ordered desserts. Rubbish service yet they had the cheek of adding 10 percent! We paid via app to get out of there so didn't realise they automatically added it. Dont bother going.

Terrible. Had the nduja chicken supreme, three absolutey rationed pieces of miniature chicken which were delicately covered in sauce, half the plate was covered salad, this also came with potato's (had the choice of chips, regretted choice after what came) ...about 6/7 max of small half cuts of baby potatoes in a little bowl which also took up another large part of the plate, the bowl that is . Outside, the waiter dropped our plates to table, didn't drop any cutlery, didn't even tell us it was self service for the cutlery, sauces etc. Post meal, no one asked us how the meal was, just took the plates. This place dines on its river view which is an Ok view, just a note for this average view... you'll pay. Stay well and truly away would be my view, your pocket and stomach will be much the happier. Had to go get something in the chipper up the road a short while after due the starvation I felt and I'm not of the larger buildnlet's just say. Generally felt cheated.

We had prebooked our wedding anniversary meal here and we were both looking forward to it! We put our best clothes on and arrived . We were disappointed to be placed next to a noisy busy bar instead of being seated at the back of the restaurant to enjoy our meal. The table also had a tile on it , our booking was written above it with the time and underneath was the next booking so, we had 2 hours to complete our visit here weather we liked it or not ! We then waited 35 minutes for our drink order to arrive , the waitress looked miserable and was not helpful when we had queries with the menu choices . Our meal was however very nice although expensive for what it is . We are local people and will not be booking here again . Shame really .

Lovely view but shame about the service. Sat 20mins on a dirty table with no server in site. Asked server to remove dirty crockery when drinks were bought and despite having a tray in hand said she'd send someone out. Waited another 10mins before going in and asking again to be told by a very condensending girl that they were extremely busy inside and someone would be out when free; only 5 tables were occupied that could be seen inside. Busy but took a good while for drinks to arrive and around 45 minutes for our meals. The Halloumi wrap was pathetic, so skinny as very little filling. The chips would be nice if dont come ready salted and heavily at that. Veg tart came with a watercress and shallot salad, but just that, a bit of lettuce/ tomato would have made it way nicer. How can you pay a service charge before even getting anything! Cashless anyone supporting the abolishment of cash deserves 1 star. Cash is legal tender. Once it's lost, you never get it back ! It's also discrimination against people with disabilities. Beautiful venue but the food wasn't what we expected. After ordering 3 Blanchbait starters, we were informed that there was only enough for 1. Approximately 10 minutes later we were informed that there were no chicken goujons for the children's orders. The camenbert sharer arrived and although it tasted nice, lacked the necessary amount of bread or crackers to complete it. The mussels were cold & lacked flavour and one of the main dishes was missed off which meant that one of our group ate alone. We discussed all of these points with the waiting team who advised that it had been a long and busy Bank Holiday Monday (although I accept that it is busy on bank holiday's it is part of the industy and we had booked inadvance), and they removed the problem parts of dinner from our bill and they were courteous and understanding when doing so.

My husband and I dine here often, but after dining there last night. I don't think we will be back. We had a booking for 7.45pm and we arrived a little early. Our table wasn't ready, so we were moved to another table that was close to the doors to the terrace... it wasn't the warmest of places to sit people, especially when that door was constantly in motion. When we ordered our food, we were told that you had no roasts left... so we ordered the salmon and the duck... after a short while, the waitress told us that the kitchen had also run out of those!! We settled for cheese burger and fish and chips in the end, as this was pretty much our only choice left on the Sunday menu! However, when it arrived, the fish was really greasy, the chips inedible as they looked like they'd been cooked in dirty fat and for far too long, and the burger was really dry. It's a real shame. We don't usually mind paying a bit more as the food there has always been lovely, but we paid £66 for 2 meals, and we didn't eat most of the main. The only good thing about it was the larder plate, which we shared as a starter. I wish I'd taken photos of the food to show how bad it was. We left not long after our food arrived. When I paid for the bill at the bar. I wasn't asked if everything was OK with the food. Otherwise, I might have had this conversation with the staff. My only advice to tourists is to try other places. The Quay Inn does quality food and for a reasonable price. You can always find space to sit and eat or just have a drink. It's the lure of the quay that makes the Granary so busy!

The rudest service I have received for a very long time - such a great location but the staff completely ruined it

We stopped at Wareham Quay and as it was lunchtime The Old Granary looked inviting. They were full inside, so we sat outside by the river. A little windy, but bearable. We ordered drinks and food at the bar. The steak pie, mash and red cabbage were very good and filling. Staff were very helpful.

Wandered in on a grey Sunday afternoon not expecting too much, and maybe not even expecting there to be any space! We sat outside next to the river which was really nice. Surprisingly good set of vegan options including burger and salad and the Beetroot Wellington (pictured) as a vegan roast option. Good selection of beers too. Sadly too full for pudding

Overall, my experience at the restaurant was fantastic. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was delightful. However, I must note that the prices seemed overpriced from my experience.

Lovely food, some very good priced light lunch meals and cooked kid meals. The rest couldn’t comment as didn’t see how much you get for your money but average price for a main meal was £15-£19. Nitpicking here but couldn’t help but notice not all the chairs were matching. For the price of the meals it makes it seem more classy if things like that are standard. Good choice of drinks, great location near station.

We were staying at Hunters Moon campsite next door with friends and just called in. Sunday roast was great, lovely meat and plenty of food. Billy's quiz was such fun, we really enjoyed the whole atmosphere. We enjoyed it all so much we went back in on Monday with more friends and had the same great experience. Billy and Maddie are such great hosts, we will definitely be back. Keep doing what you do guys
