Excellent food and service. Good vibe. My only criticism was why does the waiter have to crouch down next to us to take our order? I’m not under 10! Stand upright while taking an order from an adult please.

Unfortunately, my recent visit to The Bakers Arms was disappointing. The food was well below standard, with poor quality and lacking freshness or flavor. Additionally, the service left much to be desired—staff appeared inattentive and unaccommodating, making the experience feel unwelcoming. Overall, it did not meet expectations, and improvements in both food quality and customer service are urgently needed.

Extremely stingy with the gravy! Although beautifully presented the food was really dry with the tiniest splash of gravy in the pie annd mash special. I asked for gravy and got the tiniest amount, literally no more then a tablespoon.. It was extremely disappointing and difficult to eat. This is the second time thy have been stingy with the gravy, ( last time was a roast) otherwise a great night.

We’ve enjoyed meals at The Bakers Arms in the past, but sadly, after today’s experience, we won’t be returning. A group of six of us went for Sunday lunch, hoping for the reliable quality we’ve come to expect. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Though we all ordered together, only four meals arrived promptly. By the time the last two were served, the others had already finished eating. Most of the food served was cold, and the beef was disappointingly chewy. The Belly Pork, which was supposed to be served with a baked apple, came without it. When we asked the server, they simply shrugged and mentioned they’d run out, with no apology or alternative offered. Service overall was severely lacking. When we inquired about the delayed meals, we were told they might come out at different times due to being “on separate tickets”—despite two of the meals having been ordered by the same person, and still arriving separately. No one checked on our table to see if everything was okay, and even after we’d finished, plates remained uncleared. All in all, a very disappointing experience that left us feeling overlooked and undervalued as customers.

We booked for 6 adults & 1 child & 1 infant. Very disinterested waiting staff didn't seem to want to be there. Once we got our drinks after a long wait, we ordered, only to be told there is a minimum of 45 mins wait for food. Why were we not informed when we gave drinks order? 3 various items were missed from our order. And we were not asked if we required anymore drinks at anytime during our meal. When paying, waiter ran off with my mobile to get a stamp ( did not ask permission). AND WHY a service charge because we were a table of 6 adults?

Been to this restaurant twice in last 2 weeks as holidaying nearby. First time found the food overpriced and off average quality - £17 for a chicken burger which was overcooked and the food in general here is very overpriced for what it is - restaurant prices for pub food. Gave them the benefit of doubt and attended again yesterday. Starters were lovely and came out quickly with the kids meals. However the kids meals came out without the baked beans for both kids meals. We requested these and one portion came out but no the other. So requested again and the did eventually come out also but the kids had both pretty much finished by then. The restaurant did provide a free portion of chips (about 6-10 chips) to apologise and advised ther was a miscommunication issue. Mine a my partner’s mainothen came out but we had no cutlery as cleared away with starters so we had to wait and ss for more. The side order mushrooms I had ordered also didn’t come out so again we had to add for these and came half was through meal. My rump steak at £21.50 was requested rare but closer to well done and had quite a lot of gristle in. All in all a bit of a shambles and spoilt the experience. We we’re going to stay for a few drinks and puddings but decided against this in the end due to cost and service. The restaurant did refunds the cost of 1 beans and mushrooms knocking £5 off our £87 bill. We didn’t complain as they were clearly very busy. My advice would be to try St Peter’s Finger up the road where the food is similarly priced (expensive) but in a different league in terms of quality and the service is excellent.

After 45 minutes asked if there was a food delay and was told 40 minutes. Pointed out it was now at least 50 and 10 minutes later a sullen waitress dumped the meals on our table. Guess they were short staffed. The food was great but some communication in advance would have been nice and some acknowledgement of the delay.

All were cooked beautifully with plenty of roasted veg, tasty gravy and super crunchy crackling ( not denture friendly so beware)! We couldn't fit in desserts but my wife opted for a takeaway one so we all left very full and content. I asked if they had a real ale. I was told they had an IPA. It was poured and given to me. It was not a real ale! It was a freezing cold keg beer that I really couldn’t drink and I was charged £5.20. I tried to complain to the obviously under-trained and frankly couldn’t-care-less female bar person but it was like water off a duck’s back. I said I was mis-sold but she didn’t seem to understand. I asked who owned the pub and was told “Stonegate”. I left the pint virtually in-drunk on the bar, hoping I would be able to claim a refund from Stonegate but the pub is not recognised on their website, other than from them looking for a tenant. I am out of pocket, fed up and very annoyed! I would advise anyone who likes a proper ale: DO NOT USE THIS PUB!

Dropped in after a trip to Norden and back. The old carriage is quite spacious, bright and attractive. Lots of outside seating on the platform and the grass bank. They also have a small book stall to raise funds for the railway. Prices are fine and the food and drinks are up to standard, but not as good as the Norden cafe.

Nice food, pleasant atmosphere, great service. Minor observation, to my mind Bruschetta is not garlic bread with a few chopped tomatoes on the top. Other than that we had a very enjoyable meal.
