Avoid this place , rip off prices , for nothing special, especially for very small portions , most of the staff were friendly, apart from one off hand woman ( probably the owner ) seats very uncomfortable 😕 next time we are in Swanage we will look at the reviews beforehand.

Lovely little cafe in the heart of the town, the food is good honest fare tasty and a good portion. We visited twice on this holiday once for the English half breakfast and the second time for lunch. At lunch we had the last two lasagna and a cottage pie all very tasty. The sweet treats were also very nice. If you are in Swanage and in need of a quick tasty breakfast or lunch pop in here and give them a try.

Shockingly bad service from who I can only imagine must be the owner as the sheer scale of bad reviews would have resulted in her being sacked otherwise. I don’t review every place we visit but this restaurant really needs to listen to its customers. I don’t think I have ever left a restaurant feeling so embarrassed.

Gross food, rude staff.Everything was dry and overcooked. We paid separately and the waitress was super aggressive. She insisted on adding up exactly what we each ate instead of us saying how much to pay each. She was aggressive that my total wasn’t equal to exactly what I ate, but that’s because I had included a tip...

Pretty mediocre food (not necessarily bad, but the thinnest bread I’ve ever seen on a sandwich), but that’s not the end of the world - the service, though, is comically bad, due entirely to one person (judging from the other reviews, we all know who it is) whose horrible attitude, rudeness, and laziness made us feel very unwelcome. Why put so much effort into being so abrasive? A let-down.

Our visit to Beavers was the first since the coronovirous outbreak. The cafe had all of the necessary precautions in place (reduced seating, hand sanitiser, NHS covid app QR codes, visors for staff etc.) to make you feel safe.On entry you are asked to wait at the door and register for entry before being shown to your table. You do need to wear a mask when you walk around the restaurant, but this is no different to elsewhere. The food is great, as always and perfect for lunch. All meals are very reasonably priced and cooked well. Please ignore the recent negative reviews. The staff are friendly and the service great. You just need to follow the government regulations to keep us all safe, otherwise the staff are of course going to seem rude when they tell you to do what is required. (A personal message to those of you that continue to blame small/local restaurants for enforcing the rules - you should be ashamed of yourselves for blaming and not supporting local businesses)We will be visiting again as we do a few times every year.

So visiting Swanage today, walking through the town and came across this lovely place. Four of us were greeted at the door and shown to our table, it has a lovely warm feel with a real fireplace we were situated next to. When it comes to the food, outstanding, I personally had one of the most crispy delicious jacket potatoes ever, with the best side salad. All my family had separate meals, but all equally as good! The smell of freshly cooked food filled the air and it was splendid! The staff are helpful and really nice! Thank you for a lovely seating, if you visit swanage, please eat here!

Had a lovely week in the area and whilst in Swanage decided that this looked like a pleasant restaurant for some lunch. Unfortunately we didn’t make it over the the door, we are a middle aged couple and very aware of covid rules due to our professions and had read the sign at the door and followed the posted instructions. This was not good enough for the most rudest person I have had the misfortune to meet who shouted quite loudly at my wife and I making no sense whatsoever. At this point I decided I wouldn’t spend my money here if it was the last place open. This is not the way to encourage British holiday makers to spend their hard earned money at home.

Called here for lunch today. Unfortunately I agree with many others that we were not made to feel welcome. Felt like we were back in school being nagged at by teachers. We understand Covid restrictions and requirements however we are all grown adults and should be treated as such! It is a difficult situation for customers as well as staff and there are ways and means of going about things. Food was very mediocre and my Tesco shop bought sandwich from yesterday was way better than the one I had today ! We will not be back sorry.

My family and I have been coming to Beavers for 15 years for morning fry-ups Can’t fault the food but what I can say is that the lack of manners from 1 particular staff member has now been enough to put us off for life. All the young members of staff are very polite and friendly. However the older lady who works there is extremely rude. Upon entering and being asked to use the sanitiser, I proceeded to walk to my table. Before I had the chance to rub it in my hands she came up to me and said ‘you need to rub it in both hands’ (I only had it pumped into one hand as I had just walked into the cafe, hadn’t sat down yet and had my bag in my other hand!) in an extremely patronising tone. What did she think I was going to do let it sit in my hand and dissolve into thin air? I don’t know what her problem is but this unecessary comment was very unwelcoming and I felt extremely patronised.Perhaps she is scared since coronavirus, however if this is the case the staff should really be wearing masks or visors themselves. I didn’t particular enjoy her nose breathing directly above my plate of food as she bought it out either. If you want to feel unwelcome, embarrassed or patronised then this is the perfect place. Such a shame this lady lets the whole business down and has lost some very loyal customers. Please follow the motto of your own signage put up in the cafe ‘be kind’ and treat others with respect in future.

Whilst we were there basically everyone who arrived at the door to get a table were treated as an inconvenience, as were any customers' requests, staff rolled their eyes and huffed at each other behind customers' backs and one lady was practically shouted at for reaching to take her plate from the waitress. Not really much good to say about this place unfortunately. Most of the staff are nice and friendly but one lady in particular seams really flipping miserable and on the verge of being rude. £1.99 for cheap, unpleasant tasting non-branded coke. We were warned however I’d rather pay extra for nicer stuff. Food mediocre at best. Wasn’t given the choice of bread colour and they use cheap sliced stuff. My toastie was quite nice but a little more cheese would have been ideal and the chips basically need cooking properly. Very brown on the outside but uncooked in the middle (must take some skill to be fair!). Husbands bacon was insipid looking and only just cooked. Service was quick, obviously because food barely cooked. The chef/cook just needs to learn to cook food for a little longer, and some of the staff need to be a little nicer and you’d have a far better establishment, however you won’t get us coming here again.

None of the servers looked like they wanted to be there and didn’t take dietary requests seriously. We asked for a well done egg for someone who is pregnant, which seemed too much for them to cope with. Maybe they’re not aware of the health risks surrounding eggs? Or they simply just don’t care. I chose this restaurant because it was less crowded than the others I'd passed on my way from the railway station to the beach. I also had a wider menu than the fish restaurants. I was part of a coach party and we had been left to make our own arrangements for lunch. I was subsequently joined by 2 friends. I was shown to a table and given a menu. The waitress also pointed out the Specials board. I chose a ham salad and did not have to wait long for it to be brought. It was a generous proportion, freshly prepared and the ham was tasty. One of my friends chose the all day breakfast. His wife cannot tolerate dairy products but she had no difficulty finding something from the menu that she could eat. She also needs weak black tea and was able to have a cup made the way she likes it. The only reason for giving this a less than excellent review is that the ladies toilets are up a steep flight of stairs.

We were looking for somewhere to have a light breakfast on a chilly day in March. We have been to Swanage before but not Beavers. As soon as you walk in you feel you are welcome. Being met by nice genuine friendly staff who are attentive but not overbearing. It is nice to be somewhere that is individual, not part of a chain there is even newspapers available to read. You do not feel rushed at all. Quite a few local residents came in whilst we were there and staff knew them by their first names and what their favourite drink etc was. Using the adage that it if is good enough for local residents then it is good enough for me. I believe in supporting local businesses where I can and I will always use this place when I am in Swanage and I encourage others to do the same. They believe in good old fashioned the customer comes first.

We called in for lunch on Saturday - the caff was very busy, but the waitresses could not have been more helpful and accommodating - first class service and only a short wait for the excellent home cooked food - very nice lunch for not a lot of money - we will return !!

We took the family here just after Christmas and we lucky to get a seat. There were five of us so they found a nice large cubicle style table at the far end of the cafe. Only popped in for a coffee and cake, but what we had was very tasty and not badly priced. It's table service which is really convenient if there's lots of you as it means you don't have to remember what everyone has ordered. Well worth a visit if you're after a quick watering hole so you can carry on exploring the local area.

We come to Swanage about 4 times a year and have come here for 30 plus years, now bringing our young family and love the place. We have visited the beaver cafe on many occasions and unfortunately have noticed a decline in standards over the past few years as our last experience recently was appalling as the staff were extremely rude and made us feel like we were a hassle and very unwelcome. The food wasn't great either and when giving feed back they werent bothered and gave us a generic response. Also £8.99 for an English breakfast is extremely over priced! £6.99 is what I would expect to pay for the standards they offer. Real shame as we will not be going there again unless it is under new management next time.

We have visited Swanage several times over the past 5 years. We liked this place originally, 5 years ago. But a few years ago we took our push chair for my child only to be told they don’t cater for pushchairs, I appreciate it’s a small venue but there was room. Disappointed by the abruptness, we left.

Lovely place for a nice lunch. Great lunch time selection. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We took our 1 year old for lunch and they went out of their way to ensure she was catered for.

This is a restaurant not to be missed. Individually run by the proprietor, it is very popular, so make sure you book early in your stay in Swanage.

Literally just popped in for drinks and some garlic bread as kids were moaning about being hungry but it was too early for dinner! What we had and saw was excellent. Service very good and restaurant very clean, light and airy. Menu looked good.

Small but well laid out. The sign said "families welcome" and as soon as we took a tentative step in the door someone came over to offer us a table, high chair and place for the buggy. Our toddler son has complex food allergies but they checked all the food for us. It was hot, well presented and yummy. Wifi was available free (handy for iPlayer to keep little one occupied). Would go again the next time we visit the area.

Licensed cafe with nice coffee range of hot and cold snacks and simple cooked meals. Table service and pleasant staff. Popped in several times on the same weekend.

We had high hopes when we entered Beavers, lovely exterior with pleasant decor. Sadly that is about the most positive I can be about this restaurant ... we found the waitress who served us to be extreme rude and the food truly awful. The fish & chips just appeared to have been taken straight from the freezer to the oven. As for my roast dinner it was quite possibly the worst roast I have ever had. The beef was very fatty and the veg just tasted bland and watery. The most shocking of all was that when the waitress took our plates with most of food left she did not ask if everything was ok. The salad and coffee were the only nice bits of 2 meals purchased at high prices! Would not return or recommend .....

This has to be the best breakfast in Swanage. Looking at some of the previous reviews, I did wonder whether I was in the same restaurant. The staff were wonderful, the breakfast fantastic, and the staff accommodated my little foibles al la "pick & mix" which was brilliant. So if I didn't want beans I could choose an alternative. We loved it so much we went back for 4 out of our 5 days at the Swanage Blues.

We had a good experience overall, this is a no fuss cafe where you will get served quickly with simple food. we got different sandwiches and full/half english breakfast for the table. The english breakfast was definitely better than the sandwiches, service was good.

Great place for lunch or a stop off for a drink and cake... definitely recommend the Dirsrt Draught cider and the Dorset apple cake, warmed with ice cream

Nice food, pleasant atmosphere, great service. Minor observation, to my mind Bruschetta is not garlic bread with a few chopped tomatoes on the top. Other than that we had a very enjoyable meal.

Dropped in after a trip to Norden and back. The old carriage is quite spacious, bright and attractive. Lots of outside seating on the platform and the grass bank. They also have a small book stall to raise funds for the railway. Prices are fine and the food and drinks are up to standard, but not as good as the Norden cafe.

Great location, staff and cake. But TERRIBLE coffee. (As previous visit) if you could fix this, you would make me very happy!
