I cannot recommend this place enough! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff was incredibly attentive and made sure every detail of our dining experience was perfect.
If I could give it six, I would. Superb food; I had chicken tikka biryani and it was a delight. Full of flavour and the rice was perfectly cooked. My wife had king prawn korma and loved it. We shared sag aloo and loved it.
The staff were friendly and helpful. All in all, a delightful experience.
They're absolutely amazing in here, I came in after going to the doctors to wait for my prescription with the WORST sore throat going, I was given the loveliest welcome and immediately offered a cup of tea, for a pretty rubbish start to the day this made it all better!!
The pub itself is ok but be really careful if you park in the car park next to it. I didn't see the sign that I had to get a parking permit from the bar. Perhaps it would have been an idea if the bar staff had checked if I'd parked outside? Two drinks ended up costing me £70 once Civil Enforcement had done their worst.

Excellent food this evening. We were there to celebrate our anniversary.
Not overly impressed with the look of the restaurant. It's too cafe like with the sauces on the table and the cakes on the bar. Lovely staff though and can't fault the food.
Had a very enjoyable stay in this hotel for three nights. I appreciated the large Victorian style. A large bathroom and a just big enough bedroom. Bathroom had a door stop to stub your toe on right in front of the towel rail, not so clever. Wonderful views out over the water to Wales. English breakfast was excellent, even outstanding though their interpretation of Continental breakfast seemed to lack any cheese ham or roles.
Dinner was excellent. I would have given five stars but I have to take one off as the bar areas were very gloomy grey. The menu had no pudding based on apple. Somerset one of the great apple areas of the UK with all the scores of traditional and modern apple puddings available and none available here, in the autumn apple season.
They advertised over a million books and this you will think was probably true, when you saw rack apon rack, some 12' high, of books disappearing into the distance.
It was possible to spend hours in there just browsing the titles of mostly second hand books. For the most part they wer incredibly inexpensive - thousands went out at a £1 apiece. You could have bought yourslf over a years worth of reading for the cost of a new Waterstones paperback.
One area, The Darwin Room contained rare, first edition and antique examples. Those cost a lot more.
There was a well found cafe attached - veggie only though, so asking for a bacon butty got one a severe look.
The books have, on a much reduce basis, relocated to a Midsomer Norton trading estate - much reduced
We had the set meal for 3. All the dishes excellent. Well cooked, tasty and good quality ingredients. I ordered online for home delivery. It arrived 20 minutes early on a Saturday evening- happy it arrived early rather than late.
We have been using Cheungs for years and have always found it to be totally reliable.
Awful lunch the worst watery curry sauce I’ve ever had there’s saving money and then there’s daylight robbery 2 large curry sauces costing 4 pounds so watered down that they literally tasted of nothing!!! If you like soggy tasteless chips covered in brown tasteless water then this is the place!!! I’d give it zero if I could
The food was fantastic I’ve never had pub food this delicious very pub I’ve been to they just slap the food on the place you can definitely tell they put effort in the food they send out 10/10 would come again highly recommend this place
What a find I would give it more stars if I could. Excellent food not one thing we could fault and there were 4 of us. We all chose different starters, mains and shared a cheeseboard. Don’t drive by this little gem I highly recommend.
Took some friends here for lunch on Wednesday. Car park surprisingly full for a weekday but this was because there was a function on in one of the bars. Despite being very busy the service and food were superb. Weekdays they have a selection of pensioners specials which are £9 for 2 courses and £10 for three courses, in addition to a varied menu. Nice choice of drinks at this Butcombe ( local brewery) pub. A friendly pub😀
Not overly large place so booking is advisable. Having said that, 4 of us turned up without a reservation having had some difficulty in booking a table ? However, the lovely guy at the desk shuffled things around and got us a table. What a great experience ! Chicken, beef, lamb dishes were amazing! Rice, noodles, potatoes, salad, pasta, fish, calamari, chocolate cake, chocolate fountain, gatuea, whippy ice-cream, array of fresh fruit etc etc ... So many choices! We were VERY impressed and have already booked a return visit ! Staff are helpful and polite and kept very busy ! We thought it was good value for money. £13 for children. £20 for adults ...evening price . I think a little cheaper on a lunch time ? All in all a very good experience.
