The pub itself is ok but be really careful if you park in the car park next to it. I didn't see the sign that I had to get a parking permit from the bar. Perhaps it would have been an idea if the bar staff had checked if I'd parked outside? Two drinks ended up costing me £70 once Civil Enforcement had done their worst.

We arrived too late to have lunch, but the pub staff kindly directed us to a nearby sandwich shop and said we could bring our food back into the pub to eat, and we could also use the customers-only car park for free. We ordered drinks, of course, which were still on offer. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and we’d definitely return to eat there during their opening hours. Many thanks!

Had one drink here. Poor choices of ales and didn't like the seating arrangement or the beer. Better places to be had in Portishead.

Went for Sunday roast with inlaws and my 2 young children and our dog, the pub was very child friendly and dog friendly too. The roast was amazing!! Really good portions specially the children's roast, my two are 6 and 3 and it was plenty to share will definitely return. They also have a lovely garden area too which the kids and dog loved.

Sorry to say but this was the worst Sunday roast I've ever paid for. Hard warmed up potatoes cold carrots chicken had a wierd smell to it. No cranberry sauce,and hardly any soft drinks. They did give a full refund for the meal but ruined a rare family meal out.

Discovered that many places in Portishead don’t do food on Monday so checks all the online info and it lined good. After a fair walk for my wife who has a blue badge, we went in to be told that they don’t do evening food on Mondays. Really. Unless I missed it I couldn’t see anything. Much as I dislike a certain big chain we went back to them and had an excellent meal at a reasonable price.

These people need to be shamed, we went in for a drink and two weeks later received a parking fine spoke to staff who did not give a dam just told us to appeal it. Everyone should keep away they only want your money not interested in building a relationship with their customers so that they return!!! The staff should make sure customers are aware of the stupid rules regarding car parking.

Lovely Sunday roast in a nice little independent pub. Staff were very courteous and helpful and very nice as well. Loved the atmosphere and would come here again if I'm in the local area

Great pub and food, I was there for a company buffet and parked in the car park - as you do. I didn't know there was a parking system where you had to register your car and got fined by a company called civil enforcement Ltd. Tried to appeal with proof that I was there in the pub - but they didn't care - just after your money, shameful. I like the pub and would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the parking issue.

Three of us visited The Old Mill today and I have to say their Sunday lunch was delicious. I had a starter and the trio of meats, it had loads of vegetables and we all enjoyed our meals. We had not gone there for a long time and did not know what to expect but we were not disappointed.

After coming here as a one off we’ve continued to come back regularly, very helpful and friendly staff and management and the food is fresh and reasonably priced for the money. We have brought many friends here now and there all repeat customers now well done to everyone

Just had an excellent meal at the Old Mill. The venue is quiet, car parking outside which is free if you register your registration inside. Pleasant greeting when I arrived, prompt polite service. I ordered Butcombe Battered Cod Fillet and Chips with peas and tartar sauce. The plate was warm, not something I experience regularly, food hot, chips homemade and chunky. They tasted amazing not like the fries you get elsewhere. The fish was great, normally by the time I finish the fish it starts to feel too greasy, not so with this one. Tasted great throughout. A very satisfying and tasty meal. Probably the best fish and chips I have ever had.

We have eaten here on a number of occasions and really enjoyed the food. The staff are very welcoming, polite and helpful. We have also attended the comedy open Mike night. I strongly recommend.

Came here on the weekend with a party of over ten, the bar staff and waitress especially Lauren were fantastic! She was welcoming, warm, and took time to speak to us all even though I could see they were extremely busy! The food was good! I purposely ordered more than one dish and I enjoyed them all the wine was good too! what let the evening down were the security staff who pushed for people to leave early and used a "no Entry policy" even when people still have friend's and drink's unfinished inside. He then went on to call the bar manager a " see you next tuesday" as he was still serving drink's. ‍♀️ I felt like I was stood outside a "Bristol Nightclub" I would go again however because everything else made up for that hiccup.

After eating Sunday Lunch in every Pub/Restaurant in Portishead, The Old Mill comes out on top! It's simply outstanding. Lovely selection of Starters, the mains are simply delicious, meat cooked to your taste. Wonderful array of vegetables with the most rich flavoursome Garvey. I strongly recommend this wonderful Bar/Restaurant.

Ollie and his staff really do provide excellent service with a smile. They cannot do enough for you to make your visit a great experience. I’m definitely going back when I’m next in the area as it’s not often that establishments get everything right.

On a solo mission and went because of the veggie/ vegan menu. Nice cider and the veggie burger was lovely. Basically a massive chunk of cauliflower and aubergine! I got roped in for the quiz - and lost miserably ( it was only me on the team!!)

Went here with my partner and had such a lush night. I’m a vegan and it’s so hard to find something that isn’t just a bit of rice and veg... I had the jackfruit sweet & sour balls for starter, then the Tofish & Chips, then chickpea meringue. It was all delliccccious. And the tofish actually reminded me of fish and the batter was nice and crunchy. This was all made better because our waitress Lauren was so lovely and nothing felt like too much to ask. And she even came back out to double check that I’m vegan as there could have been a mix up with putting butter in the peas but all was good.

Dry friendly welcome and Lorna does an amazing shamrock on a lovely pint of Guinness , would recommend this pub since it’s reopened .

We were just about the only people in this place on a hot spring lunch time - and it took over an hour to serve us lunch, no wonder they were empty!

The establishment is poor quality poor food and I believe they should invest in new staff as the manager and chef have no manners or regard for their customers

First time here for a roast dinner since the re-opening. It’s now our favourite roast dinner in Portishead. Reasonably priced, great selection of vegetables and the gravy was awesome. The service was friendly and efficient, thanks to Ollie and Pila. Will be telling all our friends about it and will come back soon.

This pub is in a prime location in Portishead and has lots of history (as an on mill!). The menu choice was good and the service friendly and prompt despite it being a busy day, but the quality of the food was mediocre and over-priced for what it was.

Lauren and chris on service were absolutely amazing, we had a big group of 20 and they could not of been more accomodating and efficient than we could of asked for! Best waitress' in Portishead would highly recommend! Also chef kriss Gordon is absolutely outstanding! If anyone is looking for amazing quality food with amazing service, definitely go to old mill bar and kitchen! New management has definitely made a difference x

We had a lovely mothers day meal here last Sunday, Food was top notch with a good selection of beers/ales. Nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly service, we are not from the area but would definitely return if we are in the area in the future.

We held a family wake here yesterday and I was so impressed by everything. The staff were friendly and helpful but respectful. The food was fantastic, way above expectations for a buffet, and the venue brilliant and the venue great. Thank you so much I would thoroughly recommend holding an event here.

Fantastic service. Great food. But I’m afraid you lost me at the £9 glass of wine. You were clearly so embarrassed about this the cost was not shown on the itemised bill. We had to do some basic arithmetic to work out why the bill was so high. You had one chance to make a good impression and it was mainly great but you completely blew it by bumping up the drinks cost.

First time for food with a friend, really impressed with atmosphere, food and service. Was a Friday night and we were just behind the bar area. Just the right atmosphere for being our with a friend for a catch up and having a quick meal (I.e. we could actually hear each other) but at the same time being able to have a few drinks out on a Friday night. Also service by and organised by Yusuf made me feel a bit like a VIP!

Whilst recently visiting friends in Bristol we took a trip to Portishead to see another friend and we very pleased with our choice of visiting The Old Mill!

On a lovely sunny Saturday we were looking for somewhere in Portishead for lunch before taking a walk along the coast. Although it looked dark on the outside the blackboard advertising some unusual vegan and veggie food options intrigued us. Going in from the bright sunshine it seemed even darker inside but as we glanced about and considered backing out of the door the owner smiled a welcome and asked if he could help. Um just looking we muttered. Lunch? He asked. Well we were intrigued by your veggie menu we said and he went into great explanations about pulled jack fruit (apparently like pulled pork for you meat eaters out there). He was so welcoming and we had got our indoor eyesight by then so stayed for lunch. A fine glass of Orchard Pig's Reveller cider for me and a good pint of ale for my husband. We decided to try a range of starters and sides - tapas! our Spanish waitress exclaimed when we ordered. Jackfruit balls with a spicy salsa, mushroom and tarragon arancini with truffle aioili, halloumi chips, sweet potato fries and fried baby spinach. Absolutely yummy. Would definitely go there again. Music was a bit thumpy thumpy for lunchtime but that is the norm everywhere . Don't be put off by the black facade it's great inside with lovely staff good food and clean and modern toilets

I visited The Old Mill on Sunday I was pleasantly surprised. The food was lovely the staff attentive and well supervised by Pilar. I hope they are well supported as its a lovely old building and deserves to be a part of the High Street once again. Well done.

This has changed so much, for the better, since our last visit. Unusual, innovative food, well presented, although we do prefer a plate to a board! And not overpriced. Fresh flowers and candles on tables, friendly staff. Only disappointment was the log fire was not lit, this would have added to the ambience.

Wow! I didn't expect this. Myself, my sister and brother in law went to the Old Mill on the 17/02/2019 for Sunday Lunch. I must say this was a complete surprise. Two of us had the Beetroot Cured Salmon to start, while my brother in law had the Arancini, all stunning. For mains, I went with the Beef, cooked to your liking. My Sister and brother in law had the Lamb, also cooked to your liking. It was all just perfect, the Veg was cooked to perfection and the gravy was rich and full of flavour. As we were now near full, we shared an outstanding Cheese Board, amazing selection of cheeses. I must congratulate the new management on an outstanding lunch with exceptional service, thank you. We will be back very soon. The all new Old Mill is a Must.

I was passing through Portishead and as this was the first pub that I came to I thought I would give it a go. I am unable to comment on the food as I only stopped for a couple of beers. Whilst I have no complaints about the staff ( very friendly and efficient) or the bar itself (really well maintained and modern) but the prices they were charging were astronomical. 4.90 for a 'schooner' (not a pint!) from the 'premium range!! When I decided to get back to reality and go for the 'budget range' (served in pints) the cost was 5.10!

Famous old pub (previous know as the White Lion in Portishead) with a new make over. Great food, great service, friendly staff, great atmosphere, huge selection of wines, beers and spirits (great gins). Worth a visit from anywhere in Bristol and beyond..... glad to have this pub in Portishead. Always welcomed with a big smile

This place reopened in December under new management. I have eaten there now more than once and have enjoyed every mail ordered, loving the Lamb Roll that is served on the lunch menu. The kid's meals are great and my little ones had no complaints at all. You need to have a Sunday roast here OMG it is the best in the area by a long way. The range of beers and other drinks are extensive and at a very good price point. The lady’s on the table next to us seemed very happy with their cocktails. The staff are lovely and very helpful, my youngest knocked over his drink and it was no trouble at all for them to clean it up and replace it for him. It is dog-friendly too which means our little four-legged family member does not have to be excluded and left out in the cold. Will be back again and again, highly recommend.

Under new management, this great central venue with parking is a must go to for drinks and brilliant fresh cooked locally sourced food. The newly installed pizza ovens where they hand throw freshly made fermented semolina flour base pizzas, with interesting toppings ... are just great. Then there’s the burgers made with 28 day aged beef. Steak options just as good. We’ll be back. Thanks
