Highly recommend if you are gluten free or coeliac like myself. Gluten free served everyday, never had a problem eating here. Staff are clued up on it and always really lovely. Really good food

Excellent customer service, always friendly and helpful. we don't normally eat any kind of burger but these are amazing. freshly cooked, salad that's so fresh and sauces that are so tasty. enjoy all. Rosie

Ordered several portions of fish a chops tonight and I am disappointed to say that although the fish was really nice, the chips tasted awful - really dry and tasteless, very disappointing - it is not enough to give big portions. Quantity does not make up for a lack of quality I am afraid to say.

Nice food and often pop past at the late evening and they're always able to put some fresh fish on! Like the chips a lot and everything is priced right.

Had fish and chip supper from here, first time since it changed hands, used to be the best chippy in Clevedon. Sadly this time it wasn’t a patch on the old star bar fish was of a poor quality and chips not much better.

Whilst staying at a nearby hotel, we decided to have fish and chips in the car, There was no reason we chose this place, we just found it when driving around. FIsh and chips twice a pot of peas and a pot of curry with two cans of pop....£3 left from a £20. We parked up next to the coast and ...meh. No taste or flavour to the fish or chips, thanks for the curry sauce to give things some flavour. Generally very bland.

Now called the Smart fish bar not a smart change though. As the Star fish bar the fish was lovely and thick, tonight our first time since the change was also our last, I have thicker bread than the "large" piece of fish we received.

Just changed hands. Freshly cooked. Big menu. Big portions. Reasonable prices. Good service. FrIendly staff.

As a gluten free diner, I often miss out on takeaways. So imagine my glee when we spotted this place on our visit to clevedon. The portion sizes were brilliant and they do gluten free EVERYDAY !!!

Been going there with family since BCR it opened, understand it’s changed ownership, in my opinion the Fish and Chips excellent and very good value.

Have been going to what was the star but its changed hands I believe . the fish and chips were fine but was handed the fish in a box top to toe , put the bag on my lap only to fine it pouring out oil all over my new jeans , opened , were it went on the seat ect We usually pop down to the see front , but finding oil every where really spoilt it ! did go back to the shop , they said what did he want me to do ?????????????? he would in future have the box side ways on but he wasn't going to offer more than that , maybe free fish next time but hey , will vote with my feet , now trying to clean oil off jeans and van seats not happy .

Moved with the owners and staff when they moved from the previous, VERY NEARBY Chippy where they were employed. They have been at the Star Bar for probably two years now and I am "allowed" to have fish and chips once a week!!!! Invariably busy and the queue is out thru the door on a Friday evening. I usually attend on a Tuesday night for my wife's Gluten free fish batter night.Ref Matthew B. As a retired Forensic Investigator I find it difficult to accept the asserted allegation, that a piece of presumably blue catering wound dressing, could be fried for five minutes and then present (IN the batter) as being covered in blood and goo. I wonder if they sell Porkies as my young grand child likes to call his pork sausages. Ref JamnBecks We always have a large piece of cod for which we have to wait whilst it is being cooked, very occasionally I have seen chips which are to be served looking a touch tired and ask the owner for a fresh lot - he has always obliged in the past. It must be the bane of a Chippy's life dealing with a mad rush one minute and then everyone has been served and you are alone in the shop awaiting the arrival of the next customer and he doesn't appear for ten minutes or so. I think that's tuff matey but if they are too far gone ask for a fresh frying.

Staff are friendly - portions are very big - what more do you want from a chippy? Extensive range of food on offer. Always packed out and have a cash point outside now (as its cash only)

The chips here were great when they first opened but the last few times we've visited the quality appears to have gone downhill. Chips have all been stuck together ending up in a kind of mashed potato experience and no chance of sharing a cone.

never had a bad take away from the Star, unlike the other chippy in town, The Star do a special price for pensioners which is right up my street.

We visited on the evening of the 1/9/17.

we have been regular customers since it opened and there are no complaints about the great food and generous portions. There is a new lady managing it and the service is gone way down hill since then. The last three times my husband has come home fuming at the lack of service, putting in the order, no one else in the shop then whilst waiting for something to cook, order is forgotten and people who come in after have been served first. After a long wait the other week she poured chilli sauce all over the order then chucked it all in the bin and had to wait even longer. Get yourselves sorted Star Bar and get rid of useless staff!

Best fish n chips we've had in years! Huge portions, crispy batter. The shop is incredibly busy but well worth the wait. Will definitely be returning.

Been a regular here since it opened it's doors a good few years ago.Massive portions of Chips (one's enough for two) lovely Fish, always great crispy batter, again a great size. The Kebabs are actually improved, if that's possible, generous portion of freshly sliced meat, crisp salad, nice fluffy Pitta Bread, just outstanding all round.

After a carbs free week I stocked up on steak and kidney and chips. Huge portions, value for money. Gravy is really tasty. Well staffed who are all friendly. Also provide fish to order and delicious kebabs

Small shop on the old street but serves coeliac friendly fish and chips on Sunday and Monday. Serves quite large and fish was well cooked. Make sure you confirm with the manager 👍

Excellent staff, brilliant traditional fish and chips, Carefully and freshly cooked to order. The place is spotlessly clean, and we enjoyed cod and chips; warning these are huge portions.

Star Fish Bar is always busy and I can see why. Great quality fish & chips and I can also vouch for the fishcakes and kebabs! It's very clean and tidy and the service is also really good. Best takeaway in the local area.

We have supper from here regularly and have never been disappointed with the quality of the food. The fish cakes, sausages and chips are great as are the chicken kebabs with plentiful salad. The portions are massive so not for the faint hearted. Always busy at tea time

This fish bar does lots of other things apart from fish. Added bonus they serve gluten free battered fish on Sunday and Mondays. It is a popular place and there very often has a shop full of customers.

Wonderfully helpful staff , the place always looks clean and the food is a great quality , large portion sizes and freshly cooked we would go any where else

Consistently good value & good quality food. The staff are always friendly and efficient which helps. Its the only place we go to in Clevedon for fish n chips.

We were bowled over when we first ate at Star in Weston (and have loved it never since).

A take away fish bar that is clean and bright, excellent quick service. recommend the large fish. it is huge! Don't really need chips with it, or if more than one of you just share
