The best restaurants in Mid Devon South West

A friendly welcome, fast service and nicely prepared food. Prices were reasonable too. This pub had been recommended to us, and it didn't disappoint.

Large and tasty portions. Despite the big crowd not long waiting time I received the order with a free bonus. I recommend!! :)

Toilets have been the worst and most disgusting I’ve seen in all my life.. for years this has been the case and to think it’s acceptable to have public or even staff use them facilities is beyond ridiculous… the whole toilet area needs ripping out and putting back brand new… if you want to pick up an illness just pop to junction 27…. Whoever manages that site for me personally show no care for staff or customers… just walk around in any area and tell me anything positive??

A fantastic ale house in the middle of the village, superb real ales on tap, and from barrels, and the home made food is to die for, tasty, and plenty of it, a great atmosphere, with great hosts, makes this one of the best pubs in Mid Devon, if not the best.

Upon entry we entered through the pub at the front of the property and wondered where we’d arrived as it didn’t appear set out for food, the bar lady quickly addressed us and said food around the back and showed us the passageway. Upon entering the restaurant the staff were all friendly and asked if we’d made a reservation which we had, although they’d got us down for 2 not 4 that wasn’t an issue and we were shown to a table. Menus were given and we were asked for drinks, we looked through a very comprehensive Smoked menu, there was pizzas, burgers, ribs and Mac plus more. The food all arrived hot, and delicious the quality of the food was outstanding, far above the quality we had expected. My husbands had the standard cheese burger which was priced at £5 which was one of the best he’d had in a long time. Sauces were all home made, I had a massive pizza and it was huge definitely big enough to share which is what the waitress had said. Food was definitely reasonably priced and the beers on tap were vast. Would highly recommend a meal here. Big shout out to the waiting team Jack, Daisy and Katie who were all very attentive and polite.

We booked for lunch at The Stag. Unfortunately the outside is in need of some loving, compared to the old pictures, but the inside is lovely and rustic. It is only a small place with big tables, so we recommend booking. The food was lovely. We’re both vegetarians, but one of us doesn’t have dairy either and this place catered for us. In fact they went out of their way to double check or offer something else, for the more awkward of us.. everything was cooked to perfection and tasted lovely. I had the sherry trifle (it definitely had sherry in). This place also allows dogs. The staff were friendly and even offered to run us somewhere, if we couldn’t get a taxi. We would return here, if we’re ever in the area again.

Called to make a booking of 8 people for a Christmas dinner, not only did was the person who was on the phone rude and slow to any response. He proceeded to leave the call to ask the Chef and respond with “we are unable to serve a table of that size”. How do they think they will succeed as a restaurant with that kind of attitude.

I work close by so stopped in for lunch a few days ago, very clean and quick service. Thank you Amy for your service with a smile!

The muffin that we got was frozen and was as hard as a rock and the salad was just soggy and drenched when we tried to ring up and tell them they didn’t care at all

Love Morridons. They have a really nice choice of products and great prices. The store is clean and easy to navigate. Staff are always friendly.

I came with my family and we had a fantastic evening staff are very friendly and ensured that we are all satisfied, food was excellent and such a lovely atmosphere, I would definitely recommend, we will be back soon!!

Me and my family popped in for a meal, in all honesty the food wasn't bad and throughly championed the microwave! How ever my issue is with the staff, should the manager and barmaid me bad mouthing other employees in the bar area.... I think not.... The topic of their conversation was a data breach and the manager clearly needs more training to understand a more competent position. The bar maid/ waitress dumped our plates in front of us, grunted and went back to gossip no doubt, it felt like a cross between an episode of coronation Street and the Adams family. Food was okay but a little to unprofessional and toxic for my taste buds. Customers come in to unwind not to listen to toxic talk. To any of you training in hospitality, pop in and catch the "hospitality for dummies show" I guarantee it will be learning experience either way.

The most awful service ever. I ordered for collection 45 minutes later. I telephoned the order and when I got there they did not have the order. He told me I had to wait and would not tell me how long. When I said I had booked collection he told me he would not serve me. He was difficult to understand and extremely rude and I recommend no one ever uses this take away.
